Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Big Sur

This was a lovely and peaceful place to stay with a nice nature reserve and a walking path right down to the local marina. The location was quiet with nice amenities and thoughtful breakfast items waiting for me in the fridge. The hosts were gracious and helpful.

We selected the home to celebrate a 60th birthday with siblings. It was perfect for our group of five. We walked (and ran) on the beach, did puzzles, made meals together, and spent quality time just hanging out. Kitchen has everything one could need. Plenty of supplies. Clear instructions and expectations. We’d absolutely return.

What an absolutely beautiful place to stay! Incredibly quiet and so clean! Karin was so easy to communicate with and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The hot tub and views were added bonuses and it truly felt like a quiet escape! We absolutely recommend staying here!

Highly recommended! This house is located in a private and quiet area. Once you get past the entrance gate, there’s a private road leading to the home, which offers a beautiful view to a neighboring field of grapevines. From inside the home, there’s a beautiful view to the fields. If you are in town for the wine culture, consider planning a visit to Willow Creek Wine Co., who offers amazing chenin blancs, and Union Sacre for ecclectic wines. Overall, great experience.

What a lovely and charming cottage. We felt right at home and it was a good deal for the price. It was better than the pictures because of the feeling we felt when we arrived. It was welcoming and inviting and we definitely felt at home. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

We had a spectacular time in Rick's beautiful home! They added many touches that made the upstairs apartment feel like home, including a few complimentary snacks and drinks, a juice presser and some oranges, and blankets to use outside on the private deck when it gets chilly. Would highly recommend!!

Really enjoyed the central location and proximity to the beach, but also how secluded / quiet the house felt. The large sliding doors and large deck backed up to trees/nature was the highlight! Also the EV charger was a nice addition since we forgot to charge the car before heading out for the weekend.

Our stay in Carmel for a wedding was fantastic. The place is within walking distance to downtown, and we were able to shop and grab good bites easily. We would love to stay at Sam’s in the future and had a great time during our stay!

Lisa’s place was really lovely. Everything was exactly as advertised but even better. We enjoyed the large deck and the beautiful view, the coziness of the fireplace, and the easy to use kitchen. The location is very convenient in a quiet and cute neighborhood and the house overlooks a large natural area of trees—we liked watching the birds flying by in the treetops. Can’t say enough good things about this spot, we would love to return soon!

Perfect, relaxed retreat for two people. The space was cozy, cute small kitchen, patio to eat on. Up in the trees. Beautiful neighborhood which was close to Monterey, Pacific Grove, and Carmel. Literally one turn from 17 Mile Drive. We hiked, snorkeled, sea kayaked, went to farmer's markets, all an easy drive from this accommodation. We cooked each night on the small kitchen and it had everything we needed. Russell was a great host!

Nikki’s place was the perfect affordable option for us! It was clean had everything we needed for the week. Nikki was quick to respond to inquiries and was willing to be flexible on our checkout time. We had an amazing time exploring around locally and walking to downtown Carmel.

We had a very peaceful stay at Michael’s place in the mountains and Michael was friendly and helpful in checking us in and providing recommendations for good places nearby. It was nice to sit out on the property too and enjoy the beautiful views. Would stay there again!

Quiet, peaceful, quaint apartment. Felt very cozy & welcoming. Good location to explore Monterey & surrounding area. Full kitchen, comfy bed, very tasteful antique decor. Lovely courtyard, felt very safe. Street parking. Leo’s is a very responsive host.

The studio is well laid out and has high quality cabinets and furniture. It had the best stocked kitchen we have seen in an Airbnb. The views were very nice. The skylights were great. So much natural light. Parking on the street was OK. Definitely hope to stay again.

Loved staying here! Cutest little spot filled with everything we needed for a great weekend of relaxation. The town is a quick 5-10 minute drive and there are amazing trails a few walkable blocks away. Deer and wild turkey all over the neighborhood, it was like a fairy tale. Would highly recommend!

This spot could not be more perfectly located for someone wanting to experience and spend time in Downtown SLO. The amenities and space were well stocked and helpfully organized. The entire place has so much charm and immediately felt at home. Check in was easy to do on my own and I was able to find parking right out front for my entire stay. Being just blocks from the main street of downtown SLO makes it perfect if you want to be walk to meals or coffee or downtown activities.

Amazing views of the Pajaro River and Pacific Ocean. Short walk (300 yards) to the beach along a boardwalk or enjoy the views from the livingroom through the large picture windows or deck. Perfect for a couple or young family (the two twin beds in the second bedroom are quite small but my 20 something daughters had no complaints). Abundant bird watching opportunities along with the occasional sea lion\seal and otter.

This stay is absolutely amazing. Comfy bed and furniture. Stocked Kitchen. Steps to the beach. Closet full of beachy things. We had fun flying the kite. Built bonfires just over the dune on the beach. 🏖️ Don’t hesitate to book. This place is it.

My family of 4 had a wonderful stay! The pictures didn't do it justice - all the upgrades were well worth it and my family thoroughly enjoyed the stay there. My was very responsive and helpful. So glad we found it! Would definitely stay there again.

Staying at this Airbnb was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warmth and thoughtfulness—fresh local flowers, many beautiful books related to the neighborhood in reading material. The space was immaculately clean, beautifully designed, with everything I could need—toiletries to fast Wi-Fi .The host went above and beyond, checking in to ensure everything was perfect. It felt less like a rental and more like a five-star boutique hotel with the heart of a home. I truly didn’t want to leave!” This is a real heartfelt space in the middle of my home town that provided the soulful connection to home.

Lisa was very friendly and responsive. She not only provided clear instructions, flexible check-in, but also shared many great local dinning options, which were super helpful for our family of five. The condo was kept spotless with comfortable king size bed, bunkbed that my boys love, a beautiful swirling love seat that my daughter loved to sit in while watching sea birds catching fish using the binocular provided! Our family specifically loved the fireplace on the balcony. It was just perfect for us to enjoy the cozy night chatting and laughing by the fire while listening to the ocean waves NorCal beaches can be very chilling at night. The outdoor fireplace is such a thoughtful amenity. THANK YOU, Lisa!

Flora Belle is a lovely property in the centre of Carmel-by-Sea, with private parking and walking distance to the centre of town. The property was nicely furnished with all the services we needed. It was clean and tidy and Mary was very friendly and helpful. All in all we had a lovely stay in Carmel by Sea and will be returning again soon.

This home is amazing. Looked even better than the photos showed. The view is to die for. I literally could have stayed there all day just gazing at the sea. Lots of space , comfortable settee. Kitchen great. Loved the magnifying mirror in the bathroom. Plenty of towels. Parking outside was great. Short walk to a lovely beach. 10 mins to Capitola. 15 mins to Santa Cruz Living in the UK I don’t know when we will be back in California but if we do this is the only home I want to stay in. Loved every minute here and was sorry to leave.

Amber was fantastic and anticipated our needs. Everything was exactly as stated. it's a perfect spot if you plan in eating out, but want to eat your leftovers later. we opted for no kitchen Since we didn't plan on cooking. The microwave and mini fridge as well as the other supplied accessories came in handy and made everything super convenient. The only thing I feel is worth mentioning is the bed is lower to the ground and could be more difficult for people with mobility issues. I know by the end of my stay after lots of activity it was harder for me to get in and out of bed. The jacuzzi was enjoyable. every time we went we were alone. I will be staying there again.
