Monthly Rentals in Vatersay

Lovely self contained apartment for two, very well equipped and with laundry facilities which we didn’t use. Safe parking outside and a great view from the main room. A 25 minute walk to the ferry and local stops. We cooked for ourselves so can’t comment about restaurants nearby

We had a fabulous stay - the cottage is authentic yet has every comfort you could possibly need. Notwithstanding the quality of the cottage what set it apart for us is the location. As a fairly regular visit to the islands to get a stay on Vatersay was an opportunity too precious not to take up. The cottage is on top of a hill with views in all directions - with everything on the island in walking distance - follow the Uidh road to a number of remote beaches with views across Castlebay - or make your way around the island to the justifiably famous beaches below. We also sensed the tragic local history of Vatersay - read ‘Vatersay Raiders’. The cottage surrounded by the foundations of former crofting homes - it is humbling to think of those who lived before and the thriving community that makes the island a unique place today. The other convenience is despite the isolated surroundings, the hub of Castlebay is only 10 minutes away - with its restaurants and supermarkets. Wonderful!

A great small cabin for 2 people and ideal for 1. Kitchen has basic needs. Kitchen table has an amazing view of the landscape surrounding the cabin. Very peaceful. You can also sit outside and enjoy the same view and listen to the birds. Bathroom is small but workable with a full shower and lots of hot water. Be careful of the glass shelf by the mirror; I hit the corner twice with my shoulder. Sleeping quarters is great for 1 or 2 people with space for luggage. Paul is just next door and very responsive to your needs. I would certainly return.

The cottage is cosy and incredibly charming, the perfect setting for this location. Within a short walk, there are three lovely beaches and gorgeous scenery in abundance. We hired e-bikes and enjoyed riding up the coast and across the causeway to Castlebay, but Vatersay itself has more than enough to offer. As an added bonus, there’s a cake stand just out front. What more could one need?
