Welkom, Frans & Katja
“Highly recommended for a getaway weekend outside the city centre. We spent most of our time in the balcony enjoying breakfast and the amazing view. Make sure to grab the bikes and wander around the area too! Frans and Katja were super discreet and we had full privacy. Totally worth it! Bonus: A small herd of sheep chilling right across the water all day :)”
Located on one of Utrecht's original canals, our wharf-cellar-turned-guesthouse "De Witte Leeu" has a truly unique view and location. You will find a comfortable and charming B&B, which gives you an authentic experience in visiting Utrecht. And it's only 25 minutes away from Amsterdam and Amsterdam Airport!
“The cellar is really clean and well equipped. We really loved sitting at the canal and watching the boats go by. There are only windows at the entrance but it is not dark at all because of a well thought light design. We parked at a P&R for less than 5 Euro a day. It is easy to get into town by bus or tram. There are two bicycles in the entrance room of the cellar. We used them to get around (Rietveld Schröder House! Teahouse Rhijnauwen!). If you need more bicycles, you can use the Donkey Republic app. A day trip to Amsterdam can easily be done by train from the nearby and impressive main station. We really felt welcome by Hilda and Ruud!”
De Boomgaard (The Orchard) is in the walled garden of an 18th-century house on the legendary Vecht River, where Dutch country life was born. The b&b is a complete cottage of great charm and comfort. Guests have their own entrance, with free parking a few steps from the door. They have their own entirely private bathroom and kitchen. Located centrally, close to Utrecht, convenient by car or train to Amsterdam (45 min.), Rotterdam, The Hague, Delft, Leiden (1 hr).
“Tucked away at the end of an unassuming street and flanked by old, tall stone walls is a secluded overgrown garden hiding the charming small bed-stay at the heart of it. You'll be forgiven to think you were in the middle of a forest. The grounds are carefully and lovingly tended to by Loekie, who is happy to take you around the estate . The house itself is rustic yet designed, bathed in natural warmth from the skylight. Imagine a lazy afternoon of tea or coffee in your private canopy in the garden followed by fine supper a stroll away along the beautiful, winding Vecht. Maarssen has become a favorite destination of mine, and a stay with the delightful and generous Loekie and Gary is a definite must.”
