Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Uji

Chie & Chris's place is located in a tiny, very quiet alley in the heart of Gion. There are several temples & shrines located within walking distance, & we found incredible restaurants nearby. They gave us clear instructions on what to tell the cab driver to get there, & self check-in was easy. The accomodations were pristinely clean. The master bedroom with a large Western style bed is upstairs, & the steps are steep which was no issue for us at all but might be for elderly, injured, or handicapped folks. My 6'5" husband had to be careful to duck under door frames because of his height but staying in a historic machiya was worth the small effort. Our 14-year-old son slept on a futon on the main level & loved it. Communication was excellent, & they gave us numerous recommendations for restaurants. There is a Lawson konbini & a grocery store close by, as well as a quaint bar across the alley. We loved being within walking distance of the action coupled with the quietness of the night.

Yamano was a great host. Everything was as described and he was very helpful and responsive before and during our trip. Our family of 5 adults felt very comfortable in this property. There was a bus stop nearby as well as a few different train stations within walking distance. There was a convenience store nearby to get supplies. The location was nearby Arashiyama attractions, but in a quiet neighborhood area that felt more like home. If we ever end up headed their way again we would definitely stay with Yamano. The car service that Yamano set us up with was also very nice and worked well for getting to and from Kyoto Station as well as an 8hr tour.

Soochan is such a great host! She helped us with so many details that were confusing to us being in a foreign country. She helped us find transportation and restaurants. The unit was clean and comfortable and in a very convenient location for what we needed.

Reminded me of the first house I lived in in Japan: tatami floors, wooden fixtures, sliding doors... I felt like I was visiting a friend's grandmother's house! Must have been the smell of the wood. Spacious enough for a travel group to have private space as well as communal space. It's a bit of a hike from the train station but still walkable. Quaint, quiet residential neighborhood. Incredible value. Would definitely stay again.

Great place to stay in Kyoto!

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful traditional Japanese-style home in Kyoto. The house perfectly blended old and new, with charming touches like tatami mats and modern comforts. The beds were very comfortable, and the home was spotless, well-equipped, and thoughtfully arranged. The location was ideal — just a 5-minute walk to Nijo subway station and within 10 minutes of Nijo Castle, one of Kyoto’s main attractions. Our host, Hori-san, was incredibly welcoming and shared great local tips that enriched our trip. She also gave us a warm tour of the house, helping us feel right at home. We highly recommend the ‘Memory Kyoto Bike Tour,’ which starts just five minutes away. We’re so glad we chose this place and would happily return. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an authentic and comfortable stay in Kyoto.

I really had a good time staying here. The location is close to Kyoto Station, so it’s convenient for visiting Mt Inari, Nara, Uji, and Osaka. Several bus stops nearby also made it easy to reach local attractions I wanted to visit, such as Nishiki Market (a must-visit) and the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove. Two convenience stores are nearby as well: Family Mart (the closest) and 7-Eleven. The room has a washing machine, which was very helpful since I always worked up a sweat after a day of walking. It also includes a fridge and an air conditioner. The bathroom and toilet are both very good. I highly recommend this place when visiting Kyoto.

The experience at Taketo's house was wonderful! The directions to get there provided by the host were clear and effective. The house is very large for the standards I have experienced here in Japan; in addition to the living room, there are two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The style and furnishings are superb, and Taketo provides everything someone might need to feel welcomed. And here I truly felt at home. Easy travel to the center of Kyoto, and the restaurants proposed by Taketo always lived up to expectations. Nothing left to chance and nothing left unkempt; a great experience! Taketo is always available, friendly and kind. If I return to Kyoto, I will look for this house again.

The accommodation is conveniently close to Kyoto station to go anywhere, although the location is next to the railway, there is no train noise at all when you go to sleep at night, and you will want to stay in Kyoto next time you come to Kyoto, Japan.

Affordable and sufficient, the accommodation was minimalistic but still had everything we needed during our stay. Great for shorter stays. The host replied instantly every time which was helpful.

Muneo-san exceeded our expectations of a host and we were extremely pleased with our time spent here in Osaka. The location has abundant food and drinks options within walking distance, plenty of convenient stores, easy access to public transit (and therefore, Dotonbori), and is incredibly close to Osaka Castle. The space itself was perfect for rest after enjoying the city as it was spacious, spotless, and outfitted with comfortable furniture and modern amenities. We loved our time here and without a doubt, would come back. Highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in Osaka!

Excellent accommodation in a good location in a quiet area but also close to the lively neighborhoods of Osaka. Clean accommodation and host always available to answer a question, large and comfortable bed, bathroom a little small but nice, DVDs available with very good movies.

The Kyoto apartment was well positioned, close to several bus lines and only about a five minute walk from the river and many restaurants and bars. The washing machine was appreciated and it felt more down to earth to get the experience of a proper apartment while on our travels. The hosts were very communicative and made us feel well hosted.

We had a great time at this apartment! This was the perfect place to stay in Kyoto. there is a ton to do in the immediate area around the neighborhood and May was an amazing host!

The place is very clean, neat and tidy. Has really good quality amenities including an espresso machine, a dryer room. It's very easy to find as it appears on the map directly when you put House Nozomi Hayashi San is very responsive and looked into one of our concerns immediately. It's near a bus stop with multiple buses going into the town. Katsuragawa station is about 1.5 KM, so bit of a walk when you have luggage or are tired. But we got cabs fairly easily. Do your research on places you want to travel to in Kyoto so you can see if the location works for you. In terms of convenience, lots of shops, supermarkets etc are available. It feels spacious. It would have been better to have access to the wardrobe, but we had a short stay so we did not mind living out of our suitcases. Overall good place, good amenities, location is good but that's subjective. Good, professional host.

This was an amazing place to stay. Pretty centrally located for exploring Kyoto. Apartment is large with a great view of the city. There is a bar and rooftop in the building. The noise was noticeable at night but did not affect our sleep. Bring earplugs just in case. I would definitely stay here again.
