Le Streghette

FrancescaRating, 5 stars7 months ago
Alexander's lovely place is bright and cool. Spacious and functional spaces inside and convenient access to an outdoor space overlooking the sea beyond Via Panoramica. Perfect for a family vacation and as a base to explore the wonderful surroundings of the Argentario. We fell in love with Cala del Gesso and Cala Grande, just a few minutes away by car (and a nice walk, challenging but fascinating) from the accommodation. Alexander and Ariel were friendly and helpful. Recommended!

Vacation in an authentic farmhouse 10 km from the city

NilsRating, 5 stars7 months ago
We fully enjoyed our stay at Angela's farm house. The flat was very spacious, clean and cool during hot summer days. The view and the pool were fantastic. The location is remote and quiet, roughly 20min by car from Volterra. We stayed here with our 10 months old son and he loved interacting with the dogs. They were very friendly. Angela helped us out whenever we had questions and gave us a good recommendation for wine tasting. We were even able to sample some of the local products from the farm. So overall a fantastic stay.

We had an unbelievable visit to Riomaggiore and Cinque Terre! Our daughter studying in Florence was able to join us for a night. We enjoyed a bottle of wine each night at sunset and the view are absolutely amazing. The bed is super comfortable and the bed my daughter slept in was super comfortable as well. We enjoyed all the steps and treks and were rewarded with excellent restaurants all close by. Definitely purchase the train pass to allow easy village hopping on the local train. I strongly recommend Cristina’s place. Absolutely perfect!

Mini luxury villa L’Ulivo

AntonRating, 5 stars7 months ago
Charming little house with a private, cozy yard filled with greenery. Everything in the house is like new, very clean, and inviting. Bicycles can be provided upon request. There is a nearby COOP, which is the best supermarket/grocery chain in Italy. Matteo and Marcela always promptly and informatively answered our questions and proactively kept us informed about everything important. They are very friendly and nice people. I highly recommend this place to stay!

Beach villa great view, chill space, dogs welcome

LiviaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
We had a wonderful stay in this house. Our family of five stayed upstairs and grandma could comfortably come dine with us then retreat to her own apartment downstairs. The kids loved having the beach just a stone's throw away and the fact that you can walk into town via the old train line is really great. We had everything we needed to dine in, though one of the best restaurants we ate at during our stay was a local recommendation that Michela made. We used the house as a base to drive around the island looking for secret beaches and exploring the surrounding towns then would return in the evening to drink wine in the secluded garden. It is really a great property!

My family and I we had a wonderful holiday in this beautiful villa, surrounded by the magical atmosphere of the Umbria countryside. There is nothing we can complain about, everything was perfect, the swimming pool added a plus especially during the 2022 July’s heat wave! The pool was well maintained and daily cleaning service was provided by the owner’s handy man. We really hope to come back next year and make more unforgettable memories at the Hilltop Villa-Orvieto

Villa Siveri - private swimming pool - air con

SarahRating, 5 stars7 months ago
Great stay. The host is amazing do thoughtful responsive and kind. Gave my kids presents and a cooked for us. Just the most thoughtful can’t describe her as a host in any other ways. The only problems we encountered was the air conditioning in two of the rooms and a hard time getting to the house. Ask her to send you her exact location bc we got super lost.

SteffiRating, 5 stars9 months ago
Gorgeous accommodation in an amazing location. The closeness to Lucca, Pisa etc… makes everything so easy to reach, absolutely convenient. The house is huge with extremely comfortable beds and unique furniture. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spotless and tastefully equipped. It’s hard to spend any time in the house though as the garden is simply divine, it’s a gorgeous, park-like garden with thousands of flowers, so peaceful. Our children spent many hours in the gigantic pool, perfect in the hot summer :-). The owners were incredibly friendly and made us feel very comfortable and we loved cuddles from the beautiful Hugo X. Thank you again and highly recommend this beautiful home away from home.

VILLA FONTE MORGANA WITH POOL

Villa Fonte Morgana was a fantastic place to stay. We stayed there for a family vacation with 10 adults and five children under 7. The villa was spacious, the views were great, and it was close enough to Florence for easy access yet far enough away to feel peaceful. The host, Lorenzo, was super helpful whenever we needed something. Everything was clean and up to date.

A Romantic Villa in the heart of Tuscany

AmandaRating, 5 stars6 months ago
We are 2 couples in our early 60s. We adored the home. The surrounds and views sublime. We cooked and loved sitting in kitchen as sun set. Ahhhh. We enjoyed a drink in village at a little store. Our favourite meal was at Nazionale (book or you won’t get in). The lady there is areal character you will get to like her. The agricento restaurant also good. Coop had groceries. The village of Radicondolli is just beautiful. We drove to many places from there. Siena, san Gin, the Terma Antica ….. ( warm mineral waters with spa) nice to be spoilt. Try the other small villages around Radicondoli, we did better than larger ones, like castle d’elsa. Fabulous museum. Our hosts Francesca and Lorenzo were welcoming and met us on arrival. Each room was well separated with ensuite each room. Kitchen fully appointed. Italian coffee pot (buy you ground coffee at coop in town), some basic condiments. Roomy showers, one bath, lots of room to spread out. Herbs in garden.

Villa Le Liscaie [Sienese Crete]

AlefiyaRating, 5 stars7 months ago
We loved this Tuscan paradise! Perfect location to get to Siena, Montepulciano, Montalcino, etc very easily (within 30 mins). A beautiful private and quiet retreat in the heart of southern Tuscany. The villa itself is stunning with a true antique and lived-in feel. The grounds were gorgeous and provided a new spot for us to enjoy our morning tea and coffee each day. The pool is only cleaned once in two weeks, but luckily the maintenance crew were scheduled for the 2nd day of our arrival. Walking around the olive groves and hillside were a treat! A deeper cleaning of the house and cobwebs would be appreciated, but it is a large country villa and we know that can be hard. Important thing to note, there are two ACs, one in the master bedroom and one in the bedroom with two single beds. We were there in September and the weather was extremely pleasant so we did not need more than this.

Conveniently located close to city centre, easy walk to attractions, shops and restaurants, Only down side is morning traffic noise. Located in the middle of a busy intersection. Host very generously extended our check out. We loved this stay, amazing value for money…just take your loops for a morning sleep in.

Florence Oltrarno San Frediano

TimothyRating, 5 stars5 months ago
Our stay in Florence was often beyond wonderful, and staying at #7 in the Carmine area was perfect. Quiet neighborhood, good choice of restaurants, nice areas for walking - a lovely park was about two blocks away. The apartment itself had everything necessary for a home away from home: rolling shopping cart to take to nearby shops; good variety of cook equipment for cooking at home; extra umbrella; very comfy bed; nice selection of books. Enrica herself was helpful in meeting us and explaining the details of the apartment. Bottom line - we hope to return soon.

Look no further! You will not be disappointed with this apartment. It is truly the ideal location! It has an elevator, a rooftop terrace with a perfect view of the Duomo, plus a (clothes) washer & dishwasher! It's quaint & gives you a very local feel. The furnishings aren't fancy but are all you need. The 2 Queen+ beds are comfortable & the kitchen is well stocked. Frederica is one of the best hosts I've worked with & even supplied umbrellas on a rainy day! If you are visiting Florence, grab this apartment & ENJOY!!! Ciao!

Your guide to Tuscany

All About Tuscany

Home to one of the world’s most famous renaissance sculptures, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and legendary wines, Tuscany is a picturesque region in central Italy bordered by the Tyrrhenian and Ligurian seas and scattered with terracotta rooftops and lush vineyards. South of Cinque Terre and north of Rome, Tuscany is home to diverse, awe-inspiring landscapes, from ancient walled cities to the sugary sands of Cala Violina. You can ski in the northern Apennine Mountain villages, soak in southern Santurnia’s hot springs, swim in eastern Arezzo’s wooded Arno River, or sunbathe on the western beaches of Elba and the Tuscan Isles. Between these borders, there are medieval hill towns to explore, sunflower and poppy fields to cycle alongside, and scenic spots in the verdant countryside for picnics made up of local olives, figs, and cheeses.

Tuscany’s 10 provinces include the cities of Pisa, Siena, and Florence — all World Heritage sites — along with hilltop San Gimignano, which blends ancient towers with contemporary art installations. Visitors are drawn to the region to explore over 100 protected nature reserves, the renowned cultural treasures at the Uffizi gallery, and spectacular churches and cathedrals including the ancient Basilica of San Frediano with its 13th-century Romanesque mosaic exterior. Unforgettable local cuisine includes hearty ribollita soup and cantucci — crunchy almond biscuits — and Florence in particular is a big draw for steak, which is traditionally cooked over embers.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Tuscany

Ideal times to book a Tuscany vacation rental are April through June or September and October when temperatures are moderate. The hills and mountains are typically cooler and temperatures drop at night.

Bear in mind that the summer heat can be uncomfortable in the region’s cities. Many buildings don’t have air conditioning, and this is when a lot of businesses close to take their own summer holidays.

December through February is usually cold enough in the north to snow.

Summer festivals include Pisa’s June regatta along the Arno River and Montepulciano’s Bravio delle Botti in late August, a barrel-rolling race between the city’s eight divisions with a street banquet and costumes. On January 6, Epiphany celebrations happen throughout Tuscany.

Before Easter, some of the best known carnival celebrations in Italy happen in Viareggio, a small northern village on the Tuscan Riviera.

Top things to do in Tuscany

Siena

Centrally located Siena draws visitors to the Italian Gothic Palazzo Pubblico, seat of Siena’s government, while its 13th-century Torre del Mangia — one of the largest secular towers in Italy — is as impressive as the frescoes inside. Restaurants and bars radiate with live music from Piazza del Campo, and you can hop on an electric bike or stroll along the river to join the locals in a sunset passeggiata.

Val d’Orcia

In bucolic Val d’Orcia you can sip world-famous Brunello di Montalcino and sample traditional country cooking while peering down from pretty villages at hills dotted with vineyards and cypress trees. The towers of San Gimignano, the city of Pienza, and Abbazia di Sant'antimo — a Romanesque church where you can still hear Gregorian chants by resident monks — are just some of this area’s treasures.

Pitigliano and Saturnia

Built on hills of volcanic tuff, the ancient town of Pitigliano is home to exposed caves and historic tombs. At certain times of day, the interior of the Pitigliano Cathedral is tinted gold and purple as the sun’s rays reach through colored glass windows, while the narrow streets are lined with shops and restaurants. A half-hour drive will take you to Saturnia, a spa town where you can slide into warm sulphurous waters that pool around cascading waterfalls.
