Burns Ranch Casita, privacy in the foothills.

RickRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Laura's place was excellent for us. Local hiking in burning in both bear Canyon and Sabino Canyon. We love being on the very outskirts of Tucson, bordering the national park and Catalina mountains. It's so nice to stay in a place where one is not encumbered with the noise of civilization and one can sit back and appreciate some quiet space. I think I like the location as much as anything. I also like the fact that Tucson is a reasonably sized community and all the things that we needed were well within reach. Rick and Jean Steber.

Exceptionally cozy little casita! Loved the huge spa like shower after a hike. Has everything you would need and very comfortable furnishings. Back porch had lots of fun little nature viewing as well. Nancy and Patrick are experienced hosts and were kind and very helpful with any questions we had. Highly recommend if staying in Tucson area!

Two Homes next door to each other - 6 BR, 5 BA!!

RichardRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
We rented both homes for our large extended family. Each home was very comfortable and attractively decorated. We cooked many meals in the well appointed kitchens and used the spacious patios for outdoor dining. Jim was very accommodating and prompt to answer our questions. If we return to Tucson next year, these homes will be at the top of the list.

We had a wonderful stay at Chris’s place. The home was clean, comfortable and fully stocked with every accommodation you can think of. The location was perfect- quiet neighborhood but close to hiking, restaurants and grocery stores. If so lucky we would love to stay again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Lisa is a gem. She is so easy to reach for any problem that occurs. She is available but not interferring. She welcomes dogs and has a great yard for them outside. This house is perfect for bicyclists. It is very near the Huckelberry Bike Loop where you share the path with runners but no motor vehicles.

Private Cozy Desert Retreat Pool & Hot Tub

DonnaRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
House of Alejandro (the house's name) was a perfect place for our family of 4 and two pups. The indoor mud room they designed for the dogs was an amazing factor in our stay, allowing our pups to have a safe place to stay at night without messing up the house. Thank you, David, for the amazing experience. We really enjoyed exploring Oro Valley in Tucson!

Charming Southwest Casita in East Tucson

BetsyRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We enjoyed this casita located in a very quiet, peaceful neighborhood, but close to services and restaurants. We are bicyclists and it was very easy to ride our bikes safely from the casita to The Loop Trail. This property is accurately described in the pictures and the write up. We were happy to have the washer and dryer, and a very good shower.

Great house in Tucson. We made dinner for our family in the kitchen, had a restful night’s sleep and enjoyed the backyard over breakfast. It’s a creaky old house with lots of charm and you can tell it’s loved by the way it’s decorated.

We had the best time at the Bear Cabin in Summerhaven. Beautiful area and the cabin was PERFECT. The dog kennel in front was amazing and a great place to leave the dogs while we headed out for a bite to eat! I cannot wait to come back for a longer visit

Russell is a very gracious host. The guesthouse is easy to find and access. The landscaped outer courtyard's a perfect setting for relaxing with our dogs in the evening, watching the birds splashing in the fountain. The interior is spacious and thoughtfully laid out with everything needed even for a long-term stay. The fresh eggs with coffee/tea were a real treat in the morning as was the nice hot shower. Thanks for the hospitality!

Peaceful Casita in the Foothills

SusanRating, 5 stars4 days ago
The name is spot on! It's a peaceful, private oasis, with an outdoor sitting area for two which was great for breakfasts as well as viewing the sunset. A wonderful airbnb - immaculate and comfy. Easy communication and instructions. Close to Sabino Canyon hiking (even has 2 hiking poles in the closet, for those of us that travel via carry-on). Would definitely stay again! Thank you!

Oasis of the Sun

JaneRating, 5 stars2 months ago
Overall our stay was really great. We paid to have the pool heated and it was very warm; the kids loved it and swam every day. Lots of room for all of us (7) in the house. Location was easy to get to and backs onto a park where you can head out for a walk. There were lots of towels including pool towels. We had a bit of an issue when we first arrived but I phoned Shannon and she was able to change the door code remotely so we could get in. We would definitely stay at Shannon’s place again.

The Cottage

AngelaRating, 5 stars1 week ago
I chose The Cottage for the well lit space and we were not disappointed. Planning to spend the days working on sewing projects the lighting was important and perfectly met our needs. When I reached out to Lesley with questions she responded quickly to all of my questions and even offered other items of assistance if needed. We were welcomed with a lovely personal note welcoming us to The Cottage with details for wifi and passwords plus very reasonable expectations during our stay. So thankful I was blessed to stay in The Cottage and I hope to be back for another weekend getaway.

Summerhaven Cabin

JohnRating, 5 stars4 days ago
The cabin was very nice and had a homey feel. The driveway is steep and the very top is definitely meant for taller vehicles, but we were able to park our car by the second door, just a little further down. It snowed during our stay which was beautiful. I definitely plan on staying here again sometime.

Carmen’s house is immaculate. We are a an older couple however the layout would be perfect for families. (It was perfect for us too.) Carmen always responded quickly to any inquiries. We did not meet her in person but I got a real sense of her commitment to her guests from our email exchanges. Location in east Tucson was just what we were looking for. Very fast internet, too. Highly recommend!

Your guide to Tucson

All About Tucson

This city in the Sonoran Desert attracts visitors hoping to enjoy its impressive 350 days of sun each year. Tucson's picturesque surroundings include the basalt hill known as Sentinel Peak, from which the name Tucson was derived, as well as many of the iconic saguaro cacti — both in and out of the nearby national park named for them. Outdoor lovers flock to the park to hike, bike, and admire the scenery, as well as to Sabino Canyon and Mount Lemmon. Northern Tucson suburbs like Oro Valley and Catalina Foothills boast world-class golf courses and tend to make great bases for visitors.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Tucson

Tucson stakes its reputation on the year-round sunshine, which rarely lets visitors down. The hot summers — with temperatures consistently topping out at over 100 degrees Fahrenheit — does come with the occasional late-summer storm. But when even the nights stay fairly warm (low temperatures average above 70 degrees in summer), a little rain is a relief. Fall and spring tend to be sunny with warm days and nights, while winters stay fairly mild, with temperatures that only occasionally dip below freezing and daytime highs that still average around 70 degrees. More than anything, the important thing to remember about Tucson’s climate is the intense sun — which means packing plenty of sunscreen and sunglasses.

Top things to do in Tucson

Saguaro National Park

More than 100 miles of hiking trails snake around the two sections of Saguaro National Park, which straddles the city of Tucson. The Rincon Mountain District, to the east, sits in the high, wet landscape called “sky islands” and features tons of wildlife. To the west of town, the Tucson Mountain District includes the Signal Hill Petroglyphs and shows off large stands of the iconic cactus from which the park takes its name.

Catalina Foothills

Edging up against the Santa Catalina Mountains, this northern suburb gives visitors easy access to the Coronado National Forest and Catalina State Park, both quite popular for hiking, biking, birding, and horseback riding. The neighborhood also plays host to many of the area’s luxury tourist amenities like spas and golf courses.

Sabino Canyon Recreation Area

This canyon has been closed to private vehicles for decades. However, if you want to check out Sabino Canyon’s steep cliffs, desert vegetation, and (from afar) desert creatures such as Gila Monsters and bobcats, you can ride in a free, open-air Sabino Canyon or Bear Canyon shuttles (or bike after 5pm).
