All about Telluride

Nestled high in the Rocky Mountains of southwestern Colorado, among dramatic granite cliffs, dense pine forests, and some of the tallest peaks in the continental United States, is the former silver and gold mining town of Telluride. Once a regional boomtown that attracted prospectors out west, Telluride held such a significant role in forming the American West that in 1964 the region was designated a National Historic Landmark District. Eventually, the mining economy gave way to the burgeoning ski industry, one of the primary draws to the area today.

People from all around flock to Telluride for its easy access to nature, which begins right at the edge of the small town. The list of outdoor adventures goes on and on: hiking, skiing, fly fishing, paragliding, and whitewater rafting are just a few of the year-round activities on offer. In addition, Telluride’s art district is home to several galleries and museums housed in the town's original Victorian-style buildings, along with street performers and music for a lively downtown scene. There are also brewpubs, cafes, and a top-notch lineup of restaurants sprinkled throughout the central core of Telluride for you to enjoy after a long day of exploring the area's natural beauty.

What are the top things to do in Telluride?

Town Park

The Telluride Town Park is a 36-acre natural park on the edge of town. An outdoor swimming pool, fishing ponds, frisbee golf course, and various sports courts are located on-site for use by the public. In addition, you can find locals and tourists participating in sledding, skiing, and ice skating during the winter.

Telluride Historical Museum

Telluride's reputation as an outdoor and festival destination often overshadows the town's storied history.
