Amazing! This Family is so hospitable! We were staying here for 2 weeks and were fully satisfied! + Breakfasts are delicious! And you can get real pleasure if you order dinner - they can cook whatever you want! + All that you need as a tourist you can get right here - the hosts helped us with transfers, bikes, laundry, etc. + Nice location - away from center and noise. Of the cons: - Mattress is a bit old but has good firmness - The hosts did not respond to Airbnb until we have requested a transfer. We even almost cancel our reservation, but after everything was great

Madu’s place was fantastic—peaceful, quiet, and perfect for a relaxing stay. The house is fully private, with its own kitchen and bathroom, offering great comfort and independence. The host, Madu, is incredibly communicative and helpful. Whether you have questions or need assistance, he’s always reachable, either in person or via phone. One thing to keep in mind: if you want to be close to the city center, it’s about a 20–30 minute walk, as the house is situated near the second river up north. However, this also means you get to enjoy a quiet, secluded space with almost no neighbours. (bonus: you get to see some fireflies at night) If you have a scooter, getting around won’t be an issue at all!

Chaminda and his family are truly beautiful. I came as a guest and left as family. They are kind, friendly, attentive and true in their genuine hospitality. The room they have is great and the surroundings are fabulous. 5 mins to beautiful beaches and 20 mins inland to an amazingly peaceful temple set within the jungle. I was lucky to have a group of semi local lads staying near me who work locally on a site and whom were so friendly and welcoming. If you want to experience Sri Lanka and the heart of the people who make this country so beautiful and then stay here, for it is a special place owned by a magical family 🙏

We had another wonderful stay in the villa this year. This time I didn't book directly by the sea, but a little further back. The room was very big and the two beds were very comfortable. The terrace was a dream, where I could enjoy my coffee every morning at 7 a.m. with a great view of the sea. Breakfast was as delicious as always and really plentiful (great Sri Lankan breakfast on request) ❤️ The whole team is as helpful and friendly as always. You come as a guest and leave as a friend. This awesome house is run by a very sweet family who are easy to communicate with and always do their best to help. The location is in a very green and quiet area away from the hustle and bustle with a beautiful Buddhist temple and green rice fields nearby with lots peacocks (and all kinds of birds) around. I stayed at this house for two months and it has been a delight.

We had a very nice stay at the hotel, stunning sea view from the room and also cleaning of the room was a big plus! Nice staff and good breakfast. Recommend!

We've got a free upgrade and the room was very nice! The people are very friendly and attentive. The beach is gorgeous and you can relax or do some activities here. Definitely recommendable.

My husband and I stayed at Robinhill for 5 days, and it was absolutely incredible! The location is great — one block away from the beach and 10 minutes or less walking to restaurants. Our room was spacious, comfortable, quiet, and clean. The pictures do not do this place justice — Robinhill is a dreamy open-air space with a symphony of exotic birds and the aromatic delight of lightly scented plumeria blooms. The outdoor space is luxurious with privacy, comfortable lounge chairs, and a heated pool. Nuwan is a wonderfully hospitable and knowledgeable host and was happy to answer any questions we had about the area and things to do. He also gave us great food recommendations! Thank you for such an amazing stay!!

We had a wonderful stay, highly highly recommended! It’s paradise, located at a beautiful lagoon with lots of bird watching and just a stone throw away from a beautiful beach. At night we witnessed sea turtles, babies and we saw a turtle building a nest and laying eggs, amazing experience. The family that runs the hotel is very sweet and welcoming and they made us a great breakfast viewing the lagoon. Last but not least, beautiful rooms and a great pool with beds!

Nisha is a shining STAR,he's the best host in Sri Lanka, extremely helpful, doing the extra mile to assist you, guest house in a jungle paradise garden,rooms equipped with hot water, air conditioning and all the amenities needed, amazing cleanliness, delicious food made by his family,stunning environment around with the most beautiful beaches in the whole island up to 5 minutes by tuktuk(Nisha's one), nearest beautiful beach one minute walking distance.Book with closed eyes, i will come back!

We booked this place twice, a great value, a spacious place, there are monkeys, which was very happy with the child))))

Great location right near the beach. Lots of food places around and the staff was so friendly. Room was very tidy .. perfect for our few days in mirrisa

Shamila is very welcoming and a good host. She had welcome smoothies at our arrival and also made breakfast every day, either toast, pancakes or some Sri Lankan breakfast. The place looks just like the pictures, very clean and nice. There’s also scooter rental possible at her place. You can walk to the closest beach, but have to walk a bit further to come to the nice parts, so I would recommend to rent a scooter to get around easily in town.

We had a very nice stay here. The room was clean, the terrace a great plus. The drinking water, which is provided, was also great. Manoj and his family served us a great breakfast every morning directly on our terrace. In 2 minutes you will be on the beautiful quiet beach where you can swim and surf. Manoj was accessible at all times and responded quickly and helped. Everything is wonderful, you don't go wrong here:)

what a fantastic location, wonderfull food and nice family!

I had a great stay with my parents at Sumimal resort, the location is great and you can explore Matara as well as Mirissa from this place. It is at a walking distance from the protected turtles beach. The place is clean and it is as it is in the pictures. On arrival fresh coconut water is awesome. I ate at the resort itself, home cooked traditional meal, it was delicious and I am already waiting to plan my stay again whenever I return to Sri Lanka next time. Lovely room and Maria was super flexible with early check in as our travel plans had changed last minute. Beautiful room and we love Rio! Only consideration was that is close to the train tracks and you can hear the train passing in the morning

My first place I stayed at in Sri Lanka and I really enjoyed it. Many travelers Iet raved about it also but in comparison to other places they'd stayed. Liked: The complimentary breakfasts that were great. The ac rooms. The monkeys on the roof! The super friendly and smiling neighbors. Short walk to the beach. Deck to sit on and read was peaceful. Washing machine. Bottled water to use. Didn't like: The kitchen wasn't as stocked as I'd like. The spices could use labeling and a refeash, the knives needed sharpening too. A cutting board would be nice (could help keep knives sharp longer too). Overall it wasn't so much a house stay as I was expecting, but more like a hostel of sorts. I loved it and would recommend.
