Cottage vacation rentals in St Albans

We had such a delightful time. The house and garden were glorious. We really appreciated all the welcoming touches in the house such as blankets and games. We loved it and hope to be back, thank you.

This was my 70th birthday celebration with my two children, partners, 7 month-old granddaughter and dog! It was the most perfect location . Three excellent bedrooms and bathrooms served us so well! Beds very comfortable and living space easily spacious enough! All the facilities were top notch! The welcome basket was simply brimming with goodies which were fully appreciated. A delicious birthday cake was also there - so thoughtful of the hosts! I cannot praise or recommend this venue highly enough. We didn’t have too much time to visit the local area but Finchingfield was delightful and Thaxted itself interestingly unspoiled. Thank you Karen for making this occasion so special . We hope to revisit some time in the future!

We had a lovely stay, the house was beautiful and exceeded our expectations. Istvan was also a very kind and accommodating host who was highly responsive at all times. Would definitely recommend booking for your get away or holiday!

Had a fantastic weekend here celebrating for a hen weekend! The place was perfect to accommodate a large group, big enough for communal socialising but also enough private spaces. Cathy was fantastic at communicating and was happy to provide extras where needed. Brilliant location, stunning views and easy to get to Cambridge centre! Would definitely stay here again.

Lovely converted modernised farm building with everything you'd need. Great for a weekend getaway from it all. Is it peaceful? Depends on your own view. There were loads of chattering birds, which we loved. But do note, property is located under Stansted airport flightpath but it didn't bother us.

We enjoyed our stay at the Fancy Cottage in Kew. Suzanne's cottage was close to Kew Gardens and just steps to the Thames Path as advertised. We enjoyed having our coffee in the sunny breakfast area or eating in after a day of activities. Bedrooms were good sized and it was great having two bathrooms. Easy walk to nice restaurants in Kew. Easy access to Richmond and London by bus or tube. Overall, very peaceful place to stay and enjoy Kew with easy access to all London has to offer.

A lovely cottage atmosphere with peaceful walks nearby. The property matched the description precisely. Very quiet neighbourhood. Thoughtful provision of lots of books to read, note pads and pen, etc, Serene courtyard at the front of the property.

Old English cottage in the middle of the countryside. Andy had thought of all amenities and was extremely personable and hospitable. It felt like a museum in places what with old telephones and old iMac computer screens on display. We stayed as two families (4 kids in total) and had a great time. Thanks Andy!

This was our second stay at one of Elliot’s Airbnbs, and once again, it was a great experience. Elliot is a fantastic host, professional, helpful, and very understanding. The house has a warm, positive vibe and was spotless on arrival. He had kindly kept essentials like milk, bread, and more, which was a thoughtful touch, especially appreciated by our 10-year-old son. The nearby restaurant is lovely too. Overall, a really comfortable and pleasant stay. Highly recommended!

Our first Air BnB and what a great little place. We live reasonably local so have travelled through Turvey numerous times and we only stayed one night as had to vacate our house for a kids party. The place was immaculate with lots of small touches, gadgets and everything you need (better equipped than a lot of other places we have stayed). We had a minor query which Philip was quick to respond even though he was away. Never tried the fireplace as the weather was so good but managed a beautiful walk out around the village and the surrounding countryside. Highly recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay here. Exactly what we needed - peaceful surroundings, a very kind and hospitable host, stunning countryside right on the doorstep and a wonderful local pub a short, ten minute stroll away. This is a fabulous place with easy access to the park and ride and to the city of Cambridge. Wimpole Hall is definitely worth a visit too. We are planning our return trip here already. It’s a real gem.

Rachel made us very welcome and was very accommodating with our check in when our travel plans changed. The Nook is a lovely cozy place that we felt very at home on. Super stay at Rose Cottage! Located on a beautiful peaceful farm, yet just 1 minute from an excellent pub and great villages. A great base for our Surrey hills adventure! Colette was an excellent, responsive and helpful host! The cottage was immaculately clean and well stocked! Colette kindly brought us over some farm eggs and introduced us to her lambs! It was a delightful week. Thank you!

A return visit for us - a wonderful, rural place to go for peace and tranquility. One morning as I prepared breakfast, less than twenty feet away outside in the grounds a hare appeared and played, rolled around for three minutes or so, then sauntered off.

We had a wonderful stay at The Bakehouse! The house is lovely, and the garden is absolutely beautiful. Excellent location, too. Perfect if you're looking for a peaceful stay but still want to have easy access to shops / restaurants and the train station. Thank you so much to Jeremy for flexibility around check-in and quick responses – and everything else!

Our second stay and we are already planning our third. Sally is a fantastic host and very responsive. The place is fantastic, clean, spacious and still cosy. Best Airbnb by a long stretch.

A beautiful and peaceful location to explore the area. Walks from the door and Paul gave us some recommendations for walks and local pubs too. The house was very comfortable and welcoming, well equipped with everything we needed and plenty of space for relaxing and enjoying the rural location. Paul was so responsive with messages and very helpful when we had questions. We'd definitely stay here again!

I’ve never been so sad to leave an Air BnB! Peaceful, quiet, heaven! Lovely enclosed garden/decking with patches of grass for the dogs, plenty of choice of outdoor furniture! Decking is a little worn and rotted in certain parts but otherwise it was a perfect little spot, we had perfect weather and spent most our time out there. 3 beautiful horses to watch graze from the garden with a cuppa, and a very cute donkey and Shetland behind the house to say hello to! It was honestly amazing - the perfect quiet retreat, the house is on the owners’ land but we were never disturbed but hosts were extremely responsive if we needed anything. Beautiful flowers and lovely fresh sourdough, chocolate and wine left for us which was such a lovely touch! Hosts were so welcoming and friendly, helped us with our bags which was very kind. Rooms were amazing with TVs, great wardrobe space, full working kitchen, stunning bathroom. We literally had everything we could possibly need, I would live there forever!
