Very well served by public transport, only needs 10 minutes which any bus at the corner to get to the beach of Barceloneta, (6 stops in fact you can walk!) If you are a visitor number to Barcelona, Eixample know that is a tasty place to be. You can walk to downtown, has a real sense of non-touristy.
