We loved our stay in Sara's rustic farmhouse cottage with its glorious views across the valley, little hill towns on the other side and a beautiful scenic drive across to Orvieto on one side (about 1 hour) and Todi on the other. The pool was heavenly. We only had swimming weather for the first week but we were in every day. When the mornings were cold, I also enjoyed sitting by the pool in the morning sun, reading and drinking my coffee. The garden is also beautiful and very quiet. It was so peaceful here - and what a dream to have the pool to ourselves. Sara lives in the other half of the house with Simone, her partner, and Eugene, the dog - but we never saw them (they have their own entrance) except when they were cleaning the pool. The house is full of art and ceramics, some of which are Sara's own, and we even had lunch in Todi at Simone's restaurant. Yes, the road is rough, but so are all roads in Umbria. We have a mini and the road was not a problem.

Friendly family, pleasant and quiet atmosphere, excellent communication with the hosts including receiving recommendations. Great honor to the elderly grandparents, who share the hospitality with a smile and help

The area is incredible, peaceful and the view spectacular. Asciano has the delightful charm of an Italian village. The people were friendly and welcoming. Even got greeted by their local police who offered up their number in case we needed anything. I felt safe, and it felt as if I lived there for years. I’d say this is a piece of heaven on earth. Our stay at La Casa dell Abate was truly wonderful and memorable and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys beauty and comfort off the beaten path. From the moment we arrived, Allesio was welcoming, friendly, showed us around the home and offered tips on what to do. He will also offer you the opportunity for a pasta class or gourmet dinner which is prepared by their friend Francesco, in the private garden/outdoor kitchen. We really enjoyed this experience. Their home is beautifully decorated yet maintains the charm of the 16th century in which the village was built. We slept great in the peaceful surroundings and the comfortable beds with nice linens. A truly magical and unique stay in a castle apartment. After 24 days exploring the beauty of Italy, our arrival at Simone's third floor apartment in the village was breathtaking. This truly magnificent setting, nestled within a castle, immediately enveloped us in a serene and peaceful atmosphere. The apartment itself is not only beautifully appointed and meticulously cared for, but also boasts spectacular views across the mountain range that invited us to sit for hours, simply unwinding and soaking in the tranquility. While we ventured down the mountain a few times, we found ourselves drawn to the gentle rhythm of morning and evening walks, always culminating in a visit to the piazza to once again marvel at the stunning views Simone, our host, is simply the most considerate and attentive host I have encountered in 15 years of travel. Adele and Patrik are a great team. Adele met us in the square, as we had a rental car, and then helped us with our bags to the home. It’s a decent walk—we had two kids and grandmas with us—and thankfully, everyone was able to manage the steep walkways. The views from this home are the best we’ve ever seen. You’re just a 3–5 minute walk, depending on your pace, from a small grocery shop, restaurants, a church, the underground tour, and more. It was the perfect location for the wedding we attended. The shuttle runs every 15 minutes, so a rental car isn’t really necessary unless you’re traveling after hours. Adele was available 24/7 to answer questions and was very accommodating. Our entire family had an amazing time. The beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was well equipped. Thank you for everything!
