Places to stay in Verwood
A new log cabin built autumn 2015 in its own grounds and completely private, overlooking heathland where horses and cattle roam freely 6 months of the year. It's next to farmland with a fishing lake nearby. Great for walks and enjoying the outdoors. Renting the log cabin is based on two guests sharing, any additional guest pays a complimentary fee.
The log cabin is spacious, cosy and comfortable. The sofa in the lounge also converts to a double bed , so up to 6 people can to stay. The cabin sits in an exclusive paddock of one acre surrounded by field, woods and heathland. It is a haven for wildlife. Guests can enjoy the grounds where there is a trampoline, swings and can also enjoy cooking and eating outdoors. There is also a coarse fishing lake in the adjacent farm.
It's location makes the cabin very unique. Its a rural retreat. No neighbours (except the cows, horses, deer and squirrels!) Great for wild life and being close to nature. Completely secluded with a beautiful view of the grounds. A great escape from the city! The Cross Keys pub, which is within walking distance, offers good food. There is also a good selection of country pubs nearby. There are excellent restaurants, pubs in the towns previously mentioned, as well as theatres and nightlife. We have wonderful beaches in Bournemouth and Poole. Close by, we have Potterns Park in Verwood and Moors Valley Country Park. Great for outdoor activities with the family and friends.
  • The cabin is perfect for some time out of the big smoke! I stayed there with 5 friends and we had a lovely time . The cabin is clean , outside areas spacious , lots of parking and space to run around! The cabin itself is perfect for short stays and well equipped ( kitchen stocked and lots of activities for a rainy day) . Perfect welcome by the hosts and flexibility with check out 😊

  • An amazing place. Luisa and Len are incredible hosts. The place is warm and safe. The cabin has everything you would need. They also provided us with bread, milk, cereals and some fabulous eggs. You have the country side and forest outside your door and the sea, 15min away. Totally recommend it.

  • Very adorable little cabin. Can get a little cold but plenty of blankets are available, a little fire (which was lit for us as we arrived) and a heated blanket in the bed, meant this wasn’t an issue. Beautiful scenery and not too far from nearest town.

    Andrew2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful log cabin , lovely and warm with the log fire . The hot tub is a fab location with lovely views over fields and sheltered from the winds . Remember a dressing gown in colder weather to get from cabin to tub . Highly recommend. Thanks Sophie

  • Fantastic little cabin with all that you need to get away from everything, the weather was bad but with the stove glowing away and playing a few card games it was all very magical! Both evenings we were in the hot tub and sat drinking wine and watching the storm 🥰

Please see below for Covid-19 measures Self-contained shepherds hut in the heart of the New Forest National Park. The perfect glamping experience for lovers of the outdoors who prefer some warm home comforts. Fully insulated and heated. South facing with stunning views, surrounded by wildlife and the New Forest on the doorstep. Self Check in. Great pub, award winning farm shop and 2 cafes all walkable. Quick and easy access to explore the many villages, towns, cities and beaches nearby.
    * In light of the Covid 19 health emergency, I’d like to reassure my guests that I have a very high standard of cleanliness and I clean and disinfect all surfaces, the bathroom and kitchen including the cupboard handles, window furniture, door handles, light switches, soap dispenser, washing up liquid bottle, tv remote control, the door key, etc. The bedding and towels are washed at 60 degrees and for now I have removed the scatter cushions and blanket on the bed unless I can wash and dry them ready for my next guests. Our local pub is offering a take away service and the local farm shop which is an easy 1/2 mile walk away is open allowing one person in at a time. We are positioned in the middle of the countryside where you don’t have to come into contact with anybody else if you don’t wish to. You have more chance of meeting a wild pony! It’s self check in so you don’t even have to have any contact with me! I have also set our booking calendar to allow for the hut to be empty for 24 hours between guests rather than guests leaving and arriving on the same day. *Length of stay discounts automatically apply to stays of 3 nights or more and increases the more nights that are booked with 15% off weekly bookings (7 nights). * Late booking discounts. *No extra cleaning fee charged. Situated on the north/west side of the New Forest National Park, a very short drive from the historic market towns of Fordingbridge and Ringwood, ‘Maurietty’ offers an idyllic place to relax and unwind. Located away from roads and a short way along a forest track, it is set on the edge of our 3 ½ acre grounds approximately 100 metres from our house (which is out of view). Stunning south facing views across our paddocks and countryside beyond. However you are not isolated here - there is quick and easy access to all main roads for visitors to explore the many villages, towns, cities and beaches that Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire have to offer (if you can tear yourself away from your little retreat!). There is a footpath at the back of our house which goes along the edge of our paddocks which is the best route to take to Hockeys Farm Shop and cafe, and The Royal Oak Pub is a 20 minute walk away (left out of our gates to bottom of track and turn right). There is another café 'The Potting Shed' in Hyde which is approx. a 15/20 minute walk across the common (left out of our gates, up track a short way and take first right at 'Gorley Firs' which will take you up onto the common). This shepherd's hut offers character and comfort in spades. The little bijou beauty is like a tardis offering a warm and cosy retreat. Inside the fully insulated bespoke hut you'll find all the comforts you would expect from luxury self-catering accommodation. A bathroom with 800x800 shower, wc, wash basin and electric ladder radiator. A kitchenette with belfast sink, microwave, cafetiere, kettle, toaster, electric cooking/frying pan, small chiller fridge, all cutlery and crockery and electric radiator. The 4'6" double bed is built in across one end of the hut with storage underneath, a window and tv with built in freesat and dvd player for those british rainy days when you might want to tuck up and get cosy and watch a film. South facing double french doors flood the hut with sunshine on brighter days and provide a beautiful view out across open fields. Outside there is a designated parking space right next to the hut and an outdoor seating area looking out at the view. Access to the property is via an electric gated entrance for which you will be provided with a code. The site once formed part of Ibsley RAF base during World War II. The block of stables that you look out onto is the old latrine block and a couple of Stanton air raid shelters are in the paddock. Literally to the rear of the hut is the open New Forest. Horse riders frequently go by as well as wildlife such as the New Forest ponies, cattle, donkeys, deer, foxes, badgers and an abundance of birds such as buzzards which are often seen circling above the trees during the summer months. Award- winning farm shop and cafe that also offers bike hire 0.5 mile (follow the footpath that starts at the back corner of our property), horse riding 1 mile, watersports and fishing lakes 2 miles, thatched pub with restaurant 1 mile (15/20 minute walk). Ringwood (with a Waitrose, Lidl and Sainsbury's) 5 miles and Fordingbridge (with a Co-op and Tesco Express) 2.5 miles. ****If the dates you would like to book won't fit into the booking calendar then please send me a booking request and I will try to accommodate you. ****Unfortunately we don’t allow dogs in the hut. ****Please have a look through the ‘house rules’ and it’s important you follow my directions to find us easily. ****Please note that WiFi can be unreliable due to our countryside location despite the area recently having fibre optic broadband installed! It’s something we’ve learnt to live with. We can always pick up 3G or 4G.
The New Forest is a former royal hunting ground in the south of England. It was created in 1079 by William I. Nearly 1000 years later the ancient landscape remains almost unchanged and in March 2005 was designated the 8th National Park in England.

  • Fabulous place recommend to anyone for a relaxing break away

    Belinda2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a 2 night stay at the Bothy to celebrate my husband's birthday. The place was perfect for our short break. The weather wasn't great (wet and windy) but the cottage was cosy, warm and welcoming. We already had a wood turning experience booked locally so had planned for the winter weather, but in the better weather you'd be spoilt for things to do locally. We ate out at The Red Lion, within walking distance one night. Fab food and would also highly recommend. Loved the welcoming touches of bread, milk, orange juice, croissants and the infamous chocolate muffins.

    Alison2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This retreat was just what we needed a perfect little get away with multiple touches from Chrissy. Would love to come back and stay again. Thank you for making it so special. Couldn’t recommend enough.

  • I stayed here for the weekend with my husband and 1 year old son. We had a lovely stay. The space is bigger than it looks in the pictures - nice bright open space with high ceilings. Alison was lovely and left us some nice touches, like a few children's books and kids towels, and a few supplies in the fridge (milk, butter, eggs). Walking distance to a Tesco express and bakery which was handy :) would definitely recommend

  • What a lovely space! Think: stylish Swedish cabin, with homely touches. Amanda has thought of everything you might need and then some. She kindly got me wholemeal bread, and non-dairy spread. There was so much choice for breakfast, and very handy to have a fridge and microwave. A comfy armchair area and lots of dvds to wind down, which was perfect for me as I was travelling solo for work. Outside there was my own little summer house with chinenea and other seating. Really amazing value, and little touches beyond the norm I am used to when travelling so much for work. I will most definitely stay again.

  • Had a great stay at Amanda’s, super clear instructions and an easy check in with a key safe. Amanda was there to say hello and briefly show me through the studio. Everything is super clean and comfortable. Well equipped little kitchenette, with some breakfast food provided! We really enjoyed the summer house behind the studio, a nice secluded spot to enjoy to chimera that Amanda has. Well situated in Ringwood with easy access to new forest. Some great pubs in the area as well! Would definitely recommend

  • There are not enough words to describe this beautiful house! Fabulous location, very clean, stylish and comfortable. I only stayed the one night but I will go back. Michelle is a fantastic host, very warm and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. Felt as though I’d known her for years. Her home is just charming. She has four wonderful dogs who greet you when you arrive. If you need a place to stay in that area, go visit, you will not be disappointed. Thank you for your hospitality Michelle 😊

  • Stayed at Crane House whilst attending a friends wedding in nearby Wimborne St Giles for the weekend. Very relaxed and pleasant setting, duplex room spacious and private enough with everything you'd need for a short stay away. Michele is a lovely woman - great laugh and very accommodating to my needs for the weekend even carrying out some sartorial repairs for me!

  • I had a lovely stay with Michele and the dogs. Reading the other reviews, I knew it would be great and decided to greet the dogs with some treats. So, I picked some up at the M6 Toll services. A friend for life, needless to say! Michele is a super host and the house and garden is lovely. Ideally located for exploring Dorset. Enid Blyton's favourite county!

The Trees is a comfortable, well presented, single-storey annex, which is attached to out home yet it is self contained and enjoys lovely views over the pretty gardens. This cosy holiday home makes an ideal base for exploring this delightful part of Dorset. Located next to the local church, it is only 5 minutes’ walk to the local pubs, restaurants and village shop. Nearby Moors Valley provides excellent walking and wildlife spotting, All on the ground floor.
suited for all types of holiday both relaxing or activity based
  • Ann & Gerry’s accommodation was central to our many family and friends we had promised to visit over 4 days in the Verwood and Bournmouth area. We were very comfortable and private and highly recommend staying with Ann & Gerry.

    Peter & Trish2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay. The flat was really clean and comfortable, with everything we needed. The garden was beautiful. Hosts were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Supermarket nearby. Very straightforward drive to the coast. A great base for exploring a beautiful location.

    Jodie2019-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Ann and Gerry are great hosts. This is an ideal position if you want to use the buses as the stop is directly outside the property. Going to Bournemouth one way and Poole the other. The entrance is not on the main road you need to turn into a road which has a sign for the parish church on the corner. There’s a Morrison’s about 5 minute walk where you can get any supplies. If you are there on a Tuesday the Indian restaurant has a banquet night which is excellent value and the doggy bags you will take home will provide a meal for another day.

    Lynn2017-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great little annexe, stayed here for work purposes. Off road parking. Access is up a gravel road signposted to the church. Warm and comfortable. Would recommend.

    Rachael2017-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Ann & Gerry were very helpful with getting us settled in the apartment and helpful with local area information i.e. dog walking, supermarket. They are such friendly people. The accommodation is clean & more than adequate, with a good lounge area, within the conservatory. It's location is good for the New Forest, and surrounding areas of interest with good road links.

Please see below for Covid 19 measures ‘Little Gate House' is an idyllic country retreat for couples in the heart of the New Forest National Park. A cosy self-contained cabin with enclosed garden.South facing elevated position with gorgeous views. The New Forest is literally on the doorstep and yet there is easy access to the nearby towns, villages, cities and beaches the area has to offer. Self check in. Fab pub,2 cafes (1 with farm shop) all an easy walk. 1 dog allowed - £25 extra in total
    * * In light of the Covid 19 health emergency, I’d like to reassure my guests that I have a very high standard of cleanliness and I clean and disinfect all surfaces, the bathroom and kitchen including the cupboard handles, window furniture, door handles, light switches, soap dispenser, washing up liquid bottle, tv remote controls, the door key, etc. The bedding and towels are washed at 60 degrees and for now I have removed the scatter cushions and blanket on the bed and sofa unless I can wash and dry them ready for my next guests. The sofa is also wiped down with hot water and bleach. Our local pub is offering a take away service and the local farm shop which is an easy 1/2 mile walk away is open allowing one person in at a time. We are positioned in the middle of the countryside where you don’t have to come into contact with anybody else. You have more chance of meeting a wild pony! It’s self check in so you don’t even have to have any contact with me! I have also set our booking calendar to allow for the hut to be empty for 24 hours between guests rather than guests leaving and arriving on the same day. *Discounts automatically apply to stays of 3 nights or more and goes up the more nights you stay with 12% off a week (7 night) booking. *No extra cleaning fee charged. Little Gate House is located a short drive up a forest gravel track set on it’s own in the corner of our 3 ½ acre grounds providing visitors with a high degree of privacy and peace. The site once formed part of Ibsley RAF base during World War II and Little Gate House was one of the original maycrete buildings. The block of stables that you look out onto is the old latrine block and a couple of Stanton air raid shelters are in the paddock. Literally to the rear of the cabin is the open New Forest providing a whopping 140,000 acres of stunning landscape to explore. Horse riders frequently go by as well as wildlife such as the New Forest ponies, cattle, donkeys, deer, foxes, badgers and an abundance of birds such as owls, woodpeckers and buzzards which are often seen circling above the trees during the summer months. Well designed, the Little Gate House provides a compact yet light and airy space. Inside the fully insulated bespoke cabin, you'll find all the comforts you would expect from luxury self-catering accommodation. Living room open plan with fully equipped kitchen/dining area with full height ceilings, a wood-burning stove and double French doors opening onto a large area of south-facing decking. Cosy bijou double bedroom with full height built-in wardrobe and extra storage space above the bed useful for storing bags etc. En-suite bathroom with over-bath shower, basin, electric ladder radiator and toilet. Wooden floors throughout. Many guests have described Little Gate House as being "Small, but perfectly formed and equipped with everything you need". Enclosed private garden to the side of the cabin ideal for your dog to stretch their legs! Although guests have the convenience of access straight onto the New Forest, there is also quick and easy access to all main roads for visitors to explore the many villages, towns, cities and beaches that Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire have to offer. Riding stables 1 mile, watersports/fishing 2 miles, award-winning 'Hockey's Farm' shop and café 10 min walk, the lovely 'Royal Oak' thatched pub and restaurant 20 min walk, 'The Potting Shed' café at Hyde 20 min walk. Ringwood (with a Waitrose, Lidl and Sainsbury's) 5 miles and Fordingbridge (with a Co-op and Tesco Express) 2.5 miles. To walk to Hockeys Farm - left out of electric gates, walk up track behind our property and take the footpath on the left at the corner of our boundary fence, walk through paddocks padding my riding arena and across bottom field. Turn right onto the country lane and follow it to Hockeys Farm keeping to the left as you go. To walk to The Royal Oak - turn left out of electric gates and follow track to end and turn right onto the quiet country lane which will lead you to the pub which will be on your left. To walk to The Potting Shed - go left out of electric gates, go up track a little way and take the first right turn at a house called ‘Gorley Firs’. Walk to top of hill and stay straight and then walk down the hill onto Gorley Common. Walk straight across the common and on the other side of it you’ll walk up a short hill to a forest car park. Walk through the car park and turn left onto the country lane and follow it round to the cafe which will be on your right in a hamlet called ‘Hyde’. ***If the dates you would like to book won't fit into the booking calendar then please message me and I will try to accommodate you. ***We also have a fantastic newly built shepherds hut ('Maurietty') on with Airbnb which would enable a group of 4 people to come away together (2 in the hut and 2 in the cabin). ***Please note that WiFi can sometimes be unreliable due to our countryside location despite the area recently having fibre optic broadband installed. It’s something we’ve learnt to live with - thank goodness for 4G!! ***Extra charge of £25 for a dog payable in cash during your stay.
The New Forest is a former royal hunting ground in the south of England. It was created in 1079 by William I (known as William the Conqueror) as a hunting area, principally deer. Nearly 1000 years later the ancient landscape of his ‘Nova Foresta’ remains almost unchanged and in March 2005 was designated the 8th National Park in England. The park lies mainly in south-west Hampshire, from east of the Avon Valley to Southampton water and from the Solent coast to the edge of the Wiltshire chalk downs covering some 140,000 acres. It is a unique area of historical, ecological and agricultural significance, and retains many of the rural practices conceded by the Crown in historical times to local people. Principal of these is the pasturing of ponies, cattle, pigs and donkeys in the open forest by local inhabitants known as commoners. It is an outstanding recreational area for walking, cycling and riding. North Gorley is a hamlet in the New Forest National Park. Its nearest town is Fordingbridge, which lies approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) north of the hamlet. North Gorley is very quiet and has narrow country lanes which we share with ponies, donkeys, cattle, deer, horse riders etc. North Gorley has one inn, The Royal Oak, which claims to be a former Royal hunting lodge and is a 5 minute drive or a 15/20 minute walk and serves great food. Guests can also walk to the award-winning café and farm shop 'Hockeys Farm' which is approx. half a mile away in South Gorley . They serve an all day cooked breakfast and also provide a bike hire service. It's a 5 minute drive to the A338 which gives access north to Fordingbridge and the medieval cathedral city of Salisbury, and south to Ringwood and the A31 east to Southampton and west to Bournemouth and Poole. It's a 25 minute drive to the South Coast's beautiful beaches. The New Forest is known as a lovely tourist honey pot, but there is a big local secret: the north west quarter is quiet and remote. This is the 'proper' Forest with lovely quiet countryside, animals galore, and even on a bank holiday weekend you can still walk for miles without meeting another person. However, The tourist towns and villages such as Burley, Beaulieu, Brockenhurst, Lyndhurst and Lymington are all easily accessible and well worth a visit. Our favourite is Lymington which is a beautiful 35/40 minute drive through The New Forest going through Burley. Beaulieu is also very quaint and picturesque with an Abbey and there's a lovely walk from Beaulieu village centre to Bucklers Hard.
  • Perfect cosy spot ...ideal location to explore the New Forrest on foot or by car. Highly recommended.

  • We had a fantastic stay in beautiful surroundings. The cabin is amazing, it’s so cosy during cold, wet nights and if the sun shines the outlook across the fields is stunning! Jo has thought of everything, there’s loads of info on the surrounding area and you really are spoilt for choice when it comes to good pubs or farm shops etc in the area. It really is a perfect escape and we’d highly recommend!

  • It was an amazing time to getaway with a cozy and comfortable house with a beautiful view in the morning

  • Beautifully cleaned well equipped cabin with beautiful scenery of Woodlands. Feel very safe and secluded inside the grounds with the electric gates. Every thing is available for your needs, hair dryer, shampoo even an ironing board. Literally jo has thought of everything. We stayed for 2 nights to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and we took our youngest. We took our own travel cot which with had up in living room/kitchen area. Plenty of room. We didn't personally meet Jo however any needs she was only a phone call away, which I personally appreciated being "left to it." All instructions were easy to follow and Jo even gave us a separate set of directions because of the flooding fords. Really enjoyed our experience

    Alice2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is in an idyllic setting and perfect for accessing the New Forest. We could easily have stayed longer and would love to stay there again to see more of what the New Forest has to offer. Jo is a fantastic host and provides excellent information, makes suggestions on travel and activities and checked to make sure we were totally comfortable, which we were. I highly recommend staying here. Thanks again Jo

  • Lovely picturesque cabin in a lovely part of the world

    Mark2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is just so beautiful, the space is super clean and cosy, with lovely views and just an all round home-from-home. There’s everything you need for a short break, definitely so much more luxurious than camping in the new forest, but in a simple way so that you can still enjoy the nature and peace around you. Just need to make sure to follow Jo’s directions, especially if arriving after dark! Really appreciated Jo’s friendliness and helped so much with ideas of local places to visit. Hope to be back soon!

This is a spacious double room in our family home with twin aspect windows and en-suite shower room making it well lit and airy. There is limited off road parking on the drive for our guests and ample parking on adjacent side roads. We have 2 miniature dachshunds who are always pleased to make friends with new people. The family kitchen is available for guests to prepare drinks and breakfast.
This room is part of a large extended house. The whole place is really well insulated and so keeps a well regulated ambient temperature almost all year. We are sharing our garden with guests when weather permits.
Ferndown is recognised as one of the safest towns in Britain. There is an M&S food hall with a coffee shop 2 minutes walk away, and our favourite cafe, 'The Flying Teapot, which serves amazing breakfasts, lunches and cakes, is only a 5 minute walk into the town. There are a good selection of restaurants within walking distance, including Italian, Chinese, Indian and Gastro pubs, along with take aways to suit most tastes.

Little Glen is a detached private annexe set in the eaves, situated within the grounds of the owners property, along the boundary of a private track in the village of Alderholt. The annexe comfortably sleeps two adults and can easily accommodate a child/teenager on a sofa-bed. A continental breakfast is provided for your first night. A great place for exploring The New Forest and the coast...
The annexe has plenty of standing headroom, an open plan living room incorporating a kitchenette – single oven /hob /microwave /fridge /freezer box /kettle /toaster/ crockery and a small dining area. There is a pull out sofa bed within the lounge area (which would be suitable for 1 child/teenager). If you require the sofa bed to be set up you must inform us prior to your arrival. A 32” television with free wifi access to the usual channels, BBC IPlayer, Now TV Off the lounge area is a very comfortable bedroom with king size bed, all bedding is hypo-allergenic and Egyptian cotton. There is an adjoining en-suite shower room with enclosed shower – towels are provided for guests. In the entrance hallway there is a cupboard housing a washing machine / dryer and hanging wardrobe space. Outside you have your own private parking area just off off the track and a small private garden with patio furniture and your own front door to come and go as you please.... A continental breakfast will be provided for your first night - any food allergies please let me know prior to your arrival... The towns of Fordingbridge, Ringwood and Wimborne are not far away. There are many lovely walks nearby and we are located within close proximity to The New Forest. Slightly further a field (25 minutes) you have Bournemouth town and beaches and the cathedral city of Salisbury. A perfect base for exploring a lovely area.... Please note : In reference to small children/infants - this property has a staircase up to the first floor and a stair guard is provided, but, fitting this is the responsibility of parents/guardians. We are happy for infants to stay, but, you would need to provide a travel cot / bedding for them . They would need to be supervised at all times outside.

  • Little Glen is exactly what it says on the tin. A perfect apartment in a great location. We found walks for miles right from the front door and with pubs all around. The amenities were great with Dorset tea, fresh milk and fresh orange juice in the fridge on arrival. The bed was super comfy and such a relaxing place. With no flaws at all I would thoroughly recommend staying here and would love to revisit it myself.

  • This really is a great find! As other reviews have said the pictures really don’t do this beautiful cabin justice. It’s in such a relaxing setting and the roll top bath was a lovely touch. Lesley was very quick to response to messages and on site if needed, proving as much or little contact as you liked. It had everything you needed for the stay. I would highly recommend this beautiful place for a very reasonable price. Thank you Lesley hope to come again soon. Many thanks Lucy and Luke

  • Amazing stay, gorgeous lodge. Our friends came to get ready with us and they were really jealous of us staying there. It was lovely to have a bath in the morning in the room with cuppa. We definitely would love to come back again. The hostesses are easy to reach by text which is useful for us because we are Deaf. Thank you

  • Lesley’s place is an absolute gem in a lovely location. Exactly as described, perfect for couples, plenty of thoughtful touches and local tips. Amenities close by, including a co-op and a pub. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be sure to return in the summer.

  • Lovely and cosy cabin, perfect for a nights get away! We will definitely be returning and recommending to family and friends. Perfect to have a local pub and co op that’s only a 5 minute walk away! Make sure to read the blue folder left as lots of handy tips in there!

    Callum2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay at Lesley and Mick's cabin, it was gorgeous! Spotlessly clean and loved the little extras of the board games, coffee machine pods and biscuits. The location is lovely and quiet and secluded. Lesley and Mick also put together a really handy blue folder full of information about the cabin and the local area, including places to eat, what to do in the surrounding area etc. The bath is also a fantastic extra! We can't wait to stay again! Highly recommend anyone to stay!

    Lucy2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • If we could give it 6 stars we would ! Amazing space, beautifully finished and even prettier than in the pictures. The hosts were friendly and very quick to respond. We even tried to re-arrange our plans to stay another night. I would highly recommend it.

Castle Garden Cottage is a 16th century Thatched Cob Cottage tucked away in the grounds of our home, with stunning views of the river Avon Valley. Woodgreen is a beautiful village within the New Forest National Park with its friendly pub /superb restaurant and village shop. Castle Garden Cottage is the perfect secluded hideaway with its own garden and garden furniture, so you can sit back and relax and enjoy the beautiful evening sunsets or just stroll in the woodland glades of the forest.
The cottage has a double bed with en-suite shower, separate toilet and a kitchen/breakfast room with table and chairs, fridge, cooker, kettle and toaster etc., together with tea, coffee, sugar and a pint of milk. It's fully equipped with everything you will need for a relaxing break including garden furniture and your own little garden. Fresh croissant and coffee is available at our brilliant village shop. Pub and shop are both about a five minute walk away.
THe New Forest National Park is special, and you will be in the heart of it with direct access from our gate. You will see deer (Fallow, Roe, Red, possibly Munjac) wild horses, donkeys, foxes and if your lucky badgers. A vast amount of different birds including birds of prey, soar above the cottage and the valley.
  • Great place to stay. Right i the forest with a great local pub just 10 mins walk away. Great walks litterally on the doorstep and yes the homemade cake was lovely too. Karens a great host with lots of local tips.

    Steven2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • I went to Karen's place for three nights with my golden retriever, Honey. Karen had left some tea bags, coffee, sugar and milk and a homemade walnut cake, which was so thoughtful. The cottage was just the right size for us and I always felt safe and secure there. Although it wasn’t cold in the cottage, I put the electric blanket on before I went to bed and I felt so snugly, just lovely after a day out walking with Honey. The village of Woodgreen is small, with lovely, friendly people. There’s a shop which sells local produce and most things you’d need and a pub which has a very good, not too expensive menu. Also I had some tasty fish and chips from a mobile van which parks up outside the shop late afternoon on a Saturday. Karen and Richard were very good hosts and I really enjoyed talking to both of them. I knew where they were if I needed them but they also let me have the peace and quiet I love so much when I stay in the New Forest. It was a lovely stay, thank you very much Karen and Richard!

    Julie2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is unique - quirky, charming & comfortable & in a delightful spot. Karen is a lovely host - quick to respond to messages & is a warm & friendly. She bakes a LOVELY walnut cake.

  • A quite cosy little cottage with a lot of character. A nice view from the grassy garden. You can walk to the local pup and shop with a choise to use the local road of through the forest. We loved the warm welkom and the delicious homebaked cake.

    Peter2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in this cozy cottage, everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Karen even made a delicious cake to see us through our stay! It's in a lovely setting, a woodland walk into the village. Highly recommended!

    Jamie2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Karen and her husband were very lovely hosts who gave us great advice and answered all of our questions. The place is located next to Karens house, in the middle of the National Park, with lots of forest, rivers and wild life around. Perfect for a timeout from the busy city life or a romantic weekend with a loved one. We would definitely come back here :)

  • What a beautiful home. The space is very spacious and very well looked after. Dave and Maxina were extremely welcoming to my little one and me, and very friendly; they took us straight out to see their beautiful big garden so we could stretch our legs. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathrooms done up to a very high standard. They had left nice little touches with tea/coffee and biscuits, and a great breakfast table in their big kitchen , from which you can see the garden. The area was so quiet at night, so we had a great sleep, and the house is very quick and easy to find from the road to the west which was great (we stayed there to break up a long drive on the way to the Devon coast). I would definitely recommend staying there for people in the same situation.

All sleep 2 adults, and are perfect if you want to travel with friends or family and be located in the same grounds. View at: https://www.airbnb.co.uk/users/237600067/listings Situated in the New Forest National Park, Butlers Rest originally the servants’ accommodation to the main house, set in 2 acres of walled gardens, and offering a high degree of seclusion and privacy. Surrounded by farmland with grazing cattle and sheep, the forest ponies, donkeys, cattle and pigs roam freely the other side of our cattle grid. Local wildlife includes a large herd of deer that roam the walled gardens and neighbouring farmland, so take care when driving down the tree lined drive way. On reaching the main house, you will pass our very happy chickens, who supply the tastiest eggs around! Inside, Butler’s Rest Cottage boasts a host of original features including a bread oven, stained glass window, and original cobbled flooring in the kitchen. These features have been combined with vaulted ceilings and mezzanine levels to add to the charm and character. All the wonderful original features do mean the surfaces are uneven, the walls are wonky and the stairs narrow, we have embraced the imperfect, and think it is perfectly imperfect and hope you will love and appreciate these truly original details as we do. On arrival you will find milk in the fridge, tea, coffee, biscuits, and a few little gifts to help you settle in. We will leave you supplies for the wood burning stove for your first night in the cottage, so you can kick back and really begin to relax. The vaulted kitchen is fully equipped with electric hob and oven, microwave, dishwasher and Tassimo coffee machine and leads through to the cosy sitting room area complete with wood burning stove, Freeview TV with DVD player and a small selection of DVD's, games and books of local interest. Climbing the beautiful, old wooden staircase leads to the large mezzanine area with its truly comfortable double bed, and fresh, white linen sheets to sink into for the perfect nights sleep. Accessed from the bedroom, the large en-suite with quirky stained glass window, boasts a fabulous roll top bath. Situated on the mezzanine, and overlooking the kitchen, it really is a bath with a view. A separate WC and shower are located on the ground floor.
Stuckton is a small rural Hamlet in an unspoilt part of the New Forest National Park with its free roaming ponies, donkeys, cows and piggies, country pubs, and award winning farm shop just down the road. It is located just a mile from the riverside town of Fordingbridge, where plentiful independent shops and cafes can be found, and 8 miles from the cathedral city of Salisbury, and 6 from the market town of Ringwood. It is also just 20 minutes in the car from the beautiful beaches of Bournemouth, and approx 1.45 hrs drive from London. Exiting our private, walled gardens through the gate and onto a footpath, a left turn will take you to a fantastic local pub, and a right turn to the Michelin rated restaurant, both just a short, level walk away.
  • We had an absolutely wonderful stay for our honeymoon at Emma's cottage. She left out a beautiful card and hamper full of treats. Wish we could have stayed longer!

    Kate2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • An absolutely beautiful slice of heaven. Everything about Emma and Steve’s place is perfect!! Beautifully decorated with many unique features. Every detail has been carefully thought out making this cottage luxurious. If you’re looking for something extra special I highly recommend Butlers Rest. An absolute gem and Emma and Steve are fantastic hosts.

  • Easily the nicest place me or my partner has ever stayed. Location is amazing for walks and getting outdoors. Emma and Steve are extremely thoughtful hosts and they couldn’t do more for us. We would come back every weekend if we could!

    Cara2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • What can I say..? A perfect mini-break with my wife. Butler’s Rest is stylish, cosy and Emma & Steve’s attention to detail with those “little extras” make this New Forest retreat perfect. Immediate replies to any messages with fantastic recommendations for local places to eat, drink and visit. 5 stars.

  • We had such a lovely stay here, the cottage has been renovated beautifully and Emma and Steve were both great hosts. We loved the little touches and the recommendations of places to visit and eat. Thanks for a great little break, we hope to be back to experience the New Forest in summer!

    Helen2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful stay. The Butler's Rest cottage is simply stunning. Emma and Steve are both fantastic hosts and everything is thought of before you arrive. Location is great to get everywhere in New Forest. Really recommend a stay here and we can't wait to return!

    Nicola2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Emma and Steve for a wonderful weekend away! Beautiful cottage in a stunning part of the world. Could very easily have stayed for longer! Emma and Steve were very friendly and easy to communicate with, and provided useful information about the surrounding area. Hope to come back one day!

    Nicole2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The photos do not do this place justice. Everything about our stay was amazing, not least the personal touches like the gluten free welcome basket and Max’s birthday cake! It sounds strange to rave about the carpet, however some of the softest carpet I’ve ever walked on and the roll top bath is to die for. Great historical features, and the coffee logs for the wood burner smell amazing. Can’t wait to come back again.

Our cosy shepherds hut is situated in a small wood overlooking our paddock in the heart of the New Forest. Situated near the market town of Fordingbridge "Harry's Hut" is in the perfect setting for you to enjoy hiking around The Forest, exploring ancient woodland and visit many of the delightful pubs nearby. The cathedral city of Salisbury is 10 miles to the north and the beautiful Dorset coastline 15 miles to the south.
Harry's hut is beautifully built to a very high standard to include all our guests needs for a truly comfortable and cosy stay. It has a 4'6" double bed, mini kitchen with Belfast sink, double hob, kettle, toaster and small fridge. There is an en suite with shower, toilet and central heating. The hut is totally secluded and peaceful with comfortable outdoor seating and eating area, large fire pit, hammock and portable BBQ. Harrys Hut is situated within a 1/4 acre of woodland overlooking our paddock all for you to enjoy. You will find a radio for your entertainment, board games, books and playing cards. We have usb sockets for you to charge phones iPads etc but be aware we do NOT have any WiFi (for those desperate we have a Wifi you can connect to temporarily up at the house a few minutes walk away). We do however have pretty good mobile signal with 3 and 4G!
Harrys Hut is uniquely in one of the most beautiful corners of the New Forest for you to explore. Ancient woodlands, winding streams and wild heathlands are on your doorstep. New Forest ponies, wild deer and donkeys roam the lane. Hockeys Farm is our local farm shop 1 mile down the lane and sells a wide range of local produce. Several pubs are within walking distance including The Foresters, The Royal Oak at Gorley and The George at Fordingbridge and the Three Lions restaurant . Many such as The Royal Oak at Fritham and The High Corner Inn make a good days walk or cycle ride. We have two riding stables within a mile of Harry's Hut where you can organise a hack round the forest. Breamore Estate with its museum, country house and Saxon Church is 5 miles to the north. Further to the north lies the beautiful cathedral city of Salisbury . To the south lies the Dorset coastline with Christchurch and Hengistbury Head .
  • Harry's Hut was such a lovely escape from hectic London. It's the perfect size for two people spending a few days away. The space is cosy, the bed is comfortable, the kitchen is stocked with essentials and there are plenty of books/board games to keep you occupied. Ellen was prompt in her replies and so accommodating. We rented a car, which made getting to Harry's Hut and exploring the New Forest much easier.

    Kieran2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay in Harry's Hut, Ellen was a great host, making sure everything was ready for us and answering any questions quickly. The hut itself was clean, cosy and just right for 2 people. There were some great pubs nearby and not far from some long countryside walks. We had a lovely and relaxing time here and hope to come back.

    Alexandra2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Harry’s Hut is absolutely charming. Scandinavian style decor with thoughtful details. Sparkling clean. A very comfortable bed. All essentials in the mini kitchen. A good strong shower. We were here during Storm Jorge and the shepherd’s hut was a cosy retreat. Ellen generously let us stay later than the check out time. We would now like to come back in the summer to take advantage of the pretty field and bbq.

    Sharon2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very magical stay. Highly recommended.

    Emma2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect spot for a weekend in New Forest. The hut has everything you need and is located near a couple of great walks. Would absolutely stay again!

    Nic2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely stay in a cute hideaway!

    Mike2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little hut, just what we needed for a long weekend away. The place was clean and as described, I would definitely recommend it if visiting the area. We shall be back at some point in the summer.

    Richard2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We booked knowing the Shepherd’s Hut would be a cosy refuge in the New Forest, but that was really put to the test when Storm Ciara closed in mid-stay and we were house-bound for the whole of Sunday. We felt warm, safe, protected; an idyllic oasis against the torrential rain and gale-force winds. We entertained ourselves with the thoughtful little touches; a bookshelf with a selection of books, chess set, bananagrams; just enough to while away the hours in perfect comfort. Ellen was an amazing host; checking we were ok, had all we needed and even offering us an additional night when it became clear the drive home would have been horrific through the storm. Everything you need, all you could want and each item thoughtfully provided and beautifully presented. We cannot recommend highly enough!

My place is great for couples or small families The room has a comfortable King size bed. I can provide a single bed or travel cot for a child, I don’t charge any extra for one child. I have a smaller room next door with a three quarter size double bed if you are a larger group. There’s tea making facilities in the room, also a TV. One well behaved dog is welcome, note there is a small friendly dog here.
There is a private enclosed garden with seating and table., safe for kids and dogs. Also a comfortable south facing conservatory. There's plenty of on-road parking; off-road is also available if required. I have a garage to house bicycles safely.
On the edge of the New Forest and not far from Salisbury or the coast my place is a good base for exploring the beautiful diverse countryside in this area. There are several places to eat in Fordingbridge. A country store is just up the road. The house is semi rural, just under a mile from the town.
  • Lovely host, very good communication, clean and friendly house.

  • I would highly recommend Sharon's place! She is a great host, the house is lovely, clean and easy to find! If I return to the area, I will definitely be booking here to stay again.

  • Sharon was friendly, accommodating and helpful. We changed our plans a few times and she was really flexible. Her place was as described and a good location for where we were visiting.

  • What a lovely hostess, what a lovely place to stay. A very relaxed feeling but Sharon was always on hand to answer any questions. Clean and everything we needed in a lovely setting, we would not hesitate to stay again.

    Emma2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment my 8 year old grandson and I arrived we were made to feel totally at home. Sharon was warm, unobtrusive and thoughtful. It was a great kindness from her to allow a play in the garden, a pat of the dog and a shelf in the fridge. Nothing seemed too much trouble. The cottage was sparkling clean, quiet and in a pretty location. A true home from home experience. Thank you Sharon

    Ruth2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very pleasant one night stay at Sharon's house. She made us feel very at home as did her little dog Joey. Everywhere was very neat and tidy. We had a great night's sleep and a nice healthy breakfast. Highly recommended.

  • We were a couple with a 3years old child and it was perfect for us. It is a spacious and comfortable room. Both, room and private bathroom have plenty of natural light and were very clean. Sharon is lovely and helped us during our stay. I would strongly recommend this place to stay when visiting the new forest.

    Josh2019-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second stay at Suzys and she continues to blow me away with her thoughtfulness and cosy hospitality. It feels like a home away from home. I mentioned it was my birthday the day after check out and there was a birthday card waiting for me when I arose the next morning. That’s just one example of Suzy’s warmth. Thanks Suzy and I look forward to many more visits to your lovely home.

  • My girlfriend, dog and I had a great week at Suzy and Sydney’s. Her lovely bungalow is homely, super clean and in a great location only a few minute drives to New Forest walks and 25 minutes to Christchurch. Suzy is also really friendly, thoughtful and was great with our dog. I’ve already booked my next stay!

    Fátima2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Really clean and nicely presented house. Garden was nice and tidy so very easy to let the dog out for a quick wee. We spent a while chatting with Suzanne but the house is split so as guests we largely had the run of the ground floor with the host upstairs so it’s easy to be as social or independent as you’d like.

Our two bed semi-detached property is close to Moors Valley Country Park in a village on the edge of the New Forest, with Bournemouth and its beautiful beaches being only a 15 minute drive away.
The property is a ‘granny annex’ attached to our own family home and has recently been completely refurbished throughout. There is a king-size double bedroom on the first floor with its own bathroom across the landing. On the ground-floor is a second bedroom with two single beds, a cosy lounge, a kitchen/dining room and shower-room.
  • We had a great time in this lovingly decorated airbnb. The hosts thought of everything and we lacked nothing. The description of the accommodation is completely correct. Thanks for the relaxing holiday, we will be back.

A cute little self contained cottage. Private with a secure garden. In the heart of Dorset with good roads to access all the surrounding areas. Including Bournemouth, Poole and the Jurassic coast. A short drive to Bournemouth airport and Poole ferry port.
Personal access to the property. Lockable gate to keep little ones and dogs in. Patio and decking to the front of the property. Cosy main room with table and chairs, lounge furniture and a day bed if required also a well equipped kitchen area. Family bedroom with a double and a single bed. A good sized shower room.
Good dog walking along the river into Wimborne ( cows permitting) the other way is Leigh common (pronounced ‘lie’ in these here parts) that has a field and woods for the dogs and an enclosed play park for children. If that is all a little strenuous there are two local pubs in easy walking distance.
  • Me and my fiancé had an event down In Bournemouth so we were looking for somewhere convenient, we’re frequent travellers of all over and this has to be one of the nicest places we’ve stayed in for a while. Felt homely and warm with great aesthetics. And lovely little touches like fresh milk in the fridge. Lovely decor and comfort levels were max. Really secluded with your own private place completely fenced off from everything else. Good heating controls and nice local tips within there welcome folder. 10/10 will stay again. Only 20 minutes from bournemouth beach too so a perfect location. Was also sent a message saying the location Had been completely wiped down due to concerns of COVID-19, as were very frequent travellers this was a major concern of ours that was perfectly put to rest so we could relax and simply enjoy our stay. This place is perfect for a couple or a couple +1,2.

One of 3 recently converted stables named after breeds of horses and ponies. Shetland is our cozy holiday cottage yet still provides a king size bed with Egyptian cotton bed linen. The lounge diner is open plan with the kitchen and looks out over the yard. To the front is a courtyard with outside tables and chairs. The bathroom has a large bath with shower over. Underfloor heating throughout. Private parking space. Very quiet and peaceful. Front courtyard with hot tub and use of BBQ upon request
Shetland retains many of its original beams and features. It has been lovingly renovated and provides very comfortable accommodation. The kitchen has a grill/oven combination and Belfast sink. FreeSat TV in lounge/diner which also has a 2 seater sofa bed and dining table. Very well appointed bathroom. The front courtyard is large and features a hot tub and upon request a gas fired BBQ. There is no extra charge for using the BBQ or hot tub.
The holiday cottages are situated on the edge of the New Forest National Park and directly opposite the yard is the entrance for the Blashford Lakes Nature Reserve. Easy trails through the Nature Reserve lead you to the Forest, Rockford Common with Highwood and Linford all within easy walking distance. Ringwood is an easy, level, 20 minute walk and has many first class pubs and eateries. The Cottages are an ideal base for visiting the Forest or just for relaxing in the hot tub with a glass of wine or cup of tea. We welcome guests having picnics on the Manor lawns next door. The yard is unique as it is far enough away from town to be in the country but close enough for any essentials or nights out without having problems getting back.

    Charlie2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really lovely 2 night stay at Shetland Cottage for my girlfriends birthday. The location is great for access to Ringwood and local shops/pubs. The cottage was spotlessly clean and modern with a welcome basket of bread, milk and cereals etc. kindly provided by the hosts. All the furnishings and bedding etc. are of good quality and the space was great for two people with a cosy feel, which was helped by the underfloor heating. The hot tub was amazing, even in the October rain! I would certainly recommend this to anyone who is looking for somewhere to stay whilst exploring the beautiful New Forest.

    Paul2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay here! Great facilities, loved the hot tub and in a beautiful location- definitely recommend!

    Luke2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Photos don'tdo this justice. It's a beautful little cottage on a courtyard with stables. It all looks brand new. Loads of space in the bedroom and bathroom. Private little courtyard with the hot tub and a table and benches. Behind a half height wall so it feels very private. Debbie couldn't have been more helpful.

    Judith2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time at Debbie's. The Shetland accomodation was beautiful - modern, spacious and spotless - and we absolutely loved the hot tub! Amazing value for money in a great part of the world.

On arrival you will find milk in the fridge, tea, coffee, biscuits, and a few little gifts to help you settle in. We will leave you supplies for the wood burning stove for your first night, so you can kick back and really begin to relax. The kitchen is fully equipped with induction hob and electric oven, microwave and dishwasher. There is a cosy sitting area, with large, comfortable sofa and wood burning stove. There is a Freeview TV with DVD player as well as a small selection of DVD's and board games. At the other end of the Goat Shed, there is a truly comfortable four poster double bed, and fresh, white linen sheets to sink into for the perfect nights sleep. The fabulous roll top bath is at the end of the bed, where you can really relax in style. A separate shower room is where the WC and rain head shower can be found.
  • We had a lovely stay here. There were so many lovely touches that made it a great few days away. Emma messaged us a few days before with all the local information that we needed to plan our weekend to the full. We will be sure to stay here again when we come back to the New Forest.
