Great location situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Walks and cycling on the doorstep. Leisure facilities 1/2 mile away. Pub/ shops / restaurants 2 miles. Quarry Cottage is ideal for two adults ( no children ) visiting Northumberland and Durham. One small pet welcome. Please note....We also have the Barn next door, new for 2018. Property reference..... "Quarry Barn is a Luxury Barn Conversion" great views and super location. Both Cottage and Barn are just inside Northumberland.
Our cottage is detached from the main residence. One small well behaved dog welcome. Not suitable for infants only two adults. No WiFi through modem but 3g and 4g work well on your phone. The stairs are steep but manageable.
360 degree views overlooking beautiful country side.
  • The cottage is wonderful - gorgeously quaint and quirky with a beautiful and elegant mezzanine bedroom, cosy and comfy lounge area, well equipped, new kitchen and shower room. We had a delightful stay. The addition of wireless internet would make it perfect!

  • This is the first time staying here and we couldn’t of asked for anything better. Michael was very warm welcoming and gave plenty of information on where we could go to visit. The cottage itself was sparkling clean and the log burner was a brilliant extra. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. Thank you for a brilliant weekend

  • A lovely hideaway in the countryside. The wood burner was fantastic after returning home from a walk in a blizzard! Very nicely furnished and a lovely cosy cottage feel about it. Top Tip: Take slippers. The floors can be cold on your feet in winter.

  • Michael was very welcoming, he provided us with lots of recommendations regarding where to walk / eat and drink. Cannot fault the cleanliness of the cottage. Perfect location just off of the A68 with plenty to do in the surrounding area. You won't be dissapointed.

  • Just home from a two night stay with my friend. Despite the weather we’ve had a lovely couple of days in the cottage; the log burner and alpacas were a particular highlight for us! Hope to come back 😊

    Ashley2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • A very cosy cottage with all you need for a relaxing getaway in the countryside. A couple of maintenance issues were dealt with promptly so that our stay was not affected. Would stay again.

  • We loved the cottage - a very warm welcome from Michael and great tips for local pubs and walks. Just what we needed.

  • A very well made and insulated shepherds hut with a stylish interior. Even in Storm Dennis we felt warm & cosy. A lovely little get away in the countryside and andrew made us very welcome. He even let us feed the sheep and see his workshop where he builds his Shepherd Huts.

    Clare2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, small and compact but has everything you need. Great host and even let my boy hand feed the sheep. We stayed during the last storm, was still nice and warm. Defo recommend, and we’ll more than likely re visit.

    Samantha2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Little Blue Hut was a fantastic get away, Andrew was brilliant left us to have our own space but was there to help when we needed it. He let us check out later on the Sunday as he had no one else arriving and there was a bad storm which was really nice of him. The Hut is really well designed myself my partner and our dog Bodhi enjoyed every minute of our stay. Definitely recommend staying here.

  • We had a lovely stay at Hallington. The house and grounds are amazing, and we loved all the special touches like the welcome hamper and the games. The facilities and decor are excellent and the grounds were great for family walks with our dog. We are already talking about when we might return..in fact we had some trouble persuading the the youngest member of our group (3 years old) to leave! Would highly recommend.

    Kate2020-02-21T00:00:00Z

  • We had a wonderful birthday celebration at Hallington Mill. The spaces were just perfect for spending quality timewith family and friends. The log burner was great whilst the wind was howling outside and a special dinner in the dining room will always be remembered. The standard of the bathrooms and quirky touches in the bedrooms were also really good. Would love to return!

(Dogs must be pre agreed and is an additional £20 per pet, per stay). Garden Cottage is a quaint and tranquil barn conversion, located in the heart of the beautiful Northumberland Countryside. The cottage boasts beautiful views near and far. The cottage has many windows which takes great advantage of the beautiful surroundings, looking on to the peaceful country views, court yard and paddocks. We also have an occasional barn owl.
WE ARE VERY RURAL WITH NO COVID-19 REPORTS IN THE AREA. Due to the low price I do not offer tea and coffee however, I do supply bare essentials and a few additional extras such as: shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, toilet roll, washing liquid as well as towels etc. I don’t supply oil in the kitchen. Garden Cottage offers something for everyone, whether it is a romantic break, business or for walking/cycling. The living, landing area and sleeping areas are very spacious and clean as well as a large garden to relax in on those sunny days. There is a sofa bed in the bedroom upstairs, which will sleep 2 people. Note: the sofa bed is a little smaller than a double bed. A small warning: The bathroom is very small, consisting of a toilet, sink and walk in shower (wet room). There is no bath. The bathroom has a glass door, which has an opaque covering and is to the side of the kitchen. The heating is turned off in the cottage during May - October. The heating will be turned on in circumstances where it is unusually cold. It's important that guests are comfortable at all times. The garden is shared. With the garden to the left belonging to the cottage and the garden on the right (containing the summer house) belonging to the farm house. As a rule and for optimum privacy, it is rare that we use the garden when we have guests, but we may use the double gates to the side of the farm house, from time to time. Whilst I allow children and infants, I don’t have any specific supplies for children and infants. For example; baby gate, changing area, cot, high chair etc
Garden Cottage is situated in the middle of country side, but within easy reach of the A68 for anyone wanting to go on any expeditions by car! There are many public footpaths to take advantage of, as well as the beautiful garden and stunning views at the Cottage itself. There are many places to visit in the surrounding areas so it is advised that guests wanting to explore should spend more than one night at our cottage. Discovering the historical landmarks at Beamish Hexham Hadrians Wall Northumberlandia Derwent walk Derwent reservoir Slaley forest Blanchland medieval village Corbridge A secure store can be provided for anyone who would like to bring a bike however, guests use our storage facilities at their own risk. The owners of Garden Cottage take no responsibility for any losses or damage whilst using our storage facilities. There are also some lovely local pubs, including the Manor House Inn, which is only 2 miles from the Cottage. This can also be accessed on foot. Travelling further afield, the Anchor Inn is also a good quality, local pub. The Manor House Inn is popular so be sure to book in advance if you’re planning to eat at the Manor House Inn. Visiting Wheelbirks ice cream parlour is also a must for some traditional pub grub as well as freshly made, decadent ice cream! The farm is approximately 15 minutes away from Garden Cottage. If you are wanting a spa day to fully relax, you can visit Slaley hall where you can book yourself In to a spa day! They also have golf!
  • Beautiful, peaceful location and a lot of care has been given to the cottage space. Snug but spacious, we loved our short break here.

  • Rachael's place is a great way to explore the surrounding area! It's warm and cosy, there's plenty of room, and the little kitchen was well-stocked with pans and utensils, which we found really useful. The surroundings are beautiful, and there's a great local pub within easy walking distance. Communication was super-swift and friendly. Thanks for a great stay!

    Vicky2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot recommend enough and will certainly return! Rachael was super helpful from the moment we booked, giving us lots of great recommendations of things to do and welcoming us on arrival. The cottage itself is sparkling clean with plenty of space, cosy and in a lovely location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, particularly relaxing and watching the horses from the window in the evenings - we couldn't have asked for a better trip! Thank you again!

  • Great host, beautiful place close enough to amenities but far enough to enjoy the peace and quiet. Quirky spacious cottage with everything you need. Comfy sofas and bed. A gorgeous spot to watch the sun rise too - the perks of traveling with a toddler! We'll definitely be back and hopefully get to see the horses next time! Xxx

Set in 4 acres of beautiful Northumberland countryside. Kitchenette: Microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge Large bathroom shower & Victorian claw foot bath. Secure bedrooms with own lockabe door to annex. Rural location yet conveniently only 6 minutes drive from Hexham town A warm welcome awaits
We live on a small holding in Hexhamshire with free range chickens [eggs available] a couple of pygmy goats, three rescue ponies and two friendly dogs. We are secluded and private, but only a very short drive from the town centre of Hexham with all it's facilities, so our location offers the best of both worlds really.
Our home is in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the wildlife is plentiful with owls, hares and pheasants regularly seen. Of course this is Hadrian's Wall country so walking or cycling the area is a popular pastime. There are also many local historic villages to explore such as; Corbridge, Blanchland, Allendale and Alston. Alternatively, Alnwick Castle, the coastal town of Alnmouth, Derwent Water or Kielder Forest with it's spectacular dam make good days out. Hexham town itself has a beautiful Abbey, a thriving theater, a lovely old cinema and regular markets. There are a good selection of coffee shops and cafes to choose from. Great local pubs, including The Travelers Rest, The Carts Bog and the nearest, the Dipton Mill, just a couple of minutes drive away which has quality food and it's own Micro brewery. At Tyne Green there are rowing events and galas and the racecourse is just a short distance away. Ladycross Nature Reserve is a few minutes drive away & has 40 acres of heath, woodland, ponds and upland meadows. It can be visited by appointment and also holds a range of events to show its fascinating wildlife.

We are 3 miles from the historic village of Corbridge with its great shops, pubs and restaurants, one and a half miles from Hadrian's Wall, 20 minutes from airport and 25 minutes from Newcastle. This is a newly refurbished old stable which is a cosy hideaway in the Tyne Valley. Extensive walks are available on this working farm. It is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and dogs (sorry, no cats). Sadly owing to recent experiences we now need to charge £5 per dog per night.
  • A lovely, characterful cottage on a farm in a beautiful area of the country. We wouldn’t have changed anything.

    Eleanor2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Ailsa's Cottage is a delight and exactly as it is described, a warm, cosy and very welcoming cottage. It has everything you may need plus being perfecty situated to enjoy the stunning Northumbrian countryside and local attractions. My partner, dog and I spent a wonderful couple of nights there, it was not nearly long enough! It is Ailsa's little attentions to detail that set this cottage apart from many, I cannot rate it highly enough.

    Holly2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • I really don't have the words to say how beautiful this little cottage is and how much we enjoyed our stay. We spent most of our time walking and exploring around the beautiful areas or sat in front of the fire in the cottage relaxing. Lovely little touches, beautiful views, super clean and cosy and just what we needed for a break away from normal life 😁 We can't wait to come back! Thank you so much for having us and making sure we had everything we needed. Would 100 percent recommend anyone to stay here xx

    Katie2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent spacious, warm and cosy accommodation. Easy to get to in a stunning area of the UK. Ailsa a great host. Corbridge is delightful and Roman Museum worth visit, exceptionally well done if you are interested in the history of the region. As is Hadrians wall. If you are National Trust Members go to Housestead to walk the Wall as you can use your Card there.

  • Quarry Barn is a lovely getaway in the perfect location! Michael & June were very responsive to messages and Michael greeted us upon arrival with some great tips and dog friendly recommendations for the local area! The Derwent Manor Hotel was within walking distance (great for a few drinks) and Derwent Reservoir was just 10 mins in the car. The barn was spotlessly clean and decorated throughout to a high standard. We hope to stay again in future!

Riding Hills Farm is a cosy, attractive and well equipped one bedroomed cottage situated in one of the prettiest and most interesting parts of Northumberland. Within two miles of the historic town of Corbridge, this comfortable cottage is tucked away in a rural location with stunning views over the Tyne Valley. Despite its rural setting it is close to some excellent pubs and restaurants, and the market town of Hexham.
The cottage is attached to our farmhouse with a private entrance and enclosed garden, and is situated in just under an acre of grounds with many excellent walks and places to visit nearby. We are close to several key Roman sites in the area including Corstopitum and Hadrian’s Wall. Newcastle is 18 miles away and the stunning Northumberland coastline is only a little further.
Our cottage is situated above the beautiful Tyne Valley, and from your garden there are stunning views to enjoy over an alfresco lunch or evening drink. The enclosed garden is exclusively for the use of our guests and you are free to help yourselves to any garden produce in season including raspberries, blackcurrants and rhubarb. Our nearest village, Corbridge, has a multitude of lovely cafes and interesting shops to explore, not to mention several very good pubs and restaurants, all of which are listed in our cottage guide along with much other useful information.
  • A lovely and cosy cottage with homely finishing touches, including eggs from Debbie and Duncan's chickens and some damson jam on arrival! We were made to feel really welcome and had everything we needed in the house - the bath and shower were amazing! The cottage was also very clean and the location was great. Lots to see and do in the area.

  • Beautiful cottage in a lovely location. Close to lots of brilliant walks and days out, as well as amenities in nearby Corbridge/Hexham. Very peaceful with great views from the garden. The cottage is clean and clomfortable with lots of individual touches. Debbie and Duncan were great hosts, left a lovely welcome package and were very helpful. Will be back again.

  • Beautiful location with stunning scenery and plenty of walks nearby. The cottage is perfect for relaxing and Debbie is an excellent host, could not recommend this place enough!

    Maryam2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Spacious cottage with great views. Although you can walk into Corbridge, it takes about 30 minutes and there are lengths of the main road that have no pavements, so you need to be wary of traffic. There is a reliable half-hourly bus service into Corbridge and Hexham going west, and into Newcastle going east. Both bus stops are a 5-minute walk from the cottage, on the main road.

    Mac2019-06-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place is truely magical, the bathroom was incredible both the bath and the shower were special features, the kitchen is a very decent size, everything about this place exceeds expectation, both Debbie and Duncan will go above and beyond to offer any help you need. The scenic beauty and the silence and peace is emotionally transforming. I was truely sad to leave and will definatley be back. Thank you Both Debbie and Duncan for being such outstanding hosts. Xxx I cannot recommend this place enough!!!

Pry is a cosy 18th-century, cottage farmhouse within five acres of wild flowers, a verdant copse and running burn. Near Hadrian’s Wall and medieval Blanchland, Pry lies just south of Hexham and Corbridge, making it the perfect base for exploring Northumberland and beyond. Help is on hand with Steve and Cocker Spaniel Kes. There’s homemade organic breads, rare-breed (even Roman!) eggs and advice on walking, cycling, or casting a fly for salmon and wild trout.
Pry offers two very comfortable double bedrooms and access to the Book Room to chill out and relax. The bedroom facing Slaley has a king-size bed with views and a glow of natural sunlight particularly in the late afternoon, early evening. The adjoining bathroom has a walk-in Eco-smart shower with a large raindrop head and heated towel rail. The other bedroom captures the early light and provides a double bed with a wonderful view of the garden. This bedroom is only available if you are one party. Pry provides locally sourced breakfast from the village and surrounding area and is committed to providing Fairtrade products like tea and coffee. The menu varies daily according to availability and preference. A picnic can be made up for £10 a person.
At Pry you can simply pop out the gate and walk or cycle through dappled woods and alongside rivers and burns. One of our family’s favourite walks is through Slaley Forest across the grouse moors to the medieval village of Blanchland. Here the Lord Crewe Arms serves local ales and has an excellent restaurant for that special night out. If it is a spa you are after and a massage, or a more energetic game of golf, then it is less than a mile to Slaley Hall, a popular hotel and health resort. Also within distance are the milecastles, forts and museums that dot Hadrian’s Wall, a world heritage site. Nearby Corbridge is a useful starting point. Hexham boasts a wonderful abbey, while Durham City with its renowned castle and cathedral are a short drive away. So too is the Northumberland National Park and Kielder Forest for outdoor pursuits like sailing. Cycling is a family favourite and routes abound. And there is always the River Tyne – a paradise for those casting a salmon fly. After an unforgettable day, you can relax at Pry. There is community run pub and restaurant a field away, or if you want to slump in the comfort of the Book Room, why not order 'Abend brot' of soup, homemade bread and cheese. The wood burner takes any chill away.
  • Steve, Harriet, and Kes the dog ate wonderful hosts. Breakfast was a real highlight with homemade bread, and the log burner in the living room. They made us so welcome, and theirs local knowledge was invaluable. The peace and quiet of the surroundings were perfect. We will definitely return to this beautiful place.

    Katy2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Steve's cottage is a charming property, very well managed and looked after. On arrival, my friend and I were greeted with the most enthusiastic welcome we've ever received at any b&b as Steve's dog Kes could not have been happier to make two new acquaintances. The rooms were full of light, had exquisite views of the countryside and were warm despite the not-so-hot weather. The bathroom had recently been renovated and was looking very nice, too bad for a little problem with the shower due to which we had to use another bathroom, one with extremely hot water coming out of it, to shower. This problem, however, should be fixed by the time anyone else visits. As for the breakfast, we were offered many different options to choose from and everything we ended up having was truly delicious. All in all, I would recommend staying at Pry to anyone seeking an authentic countryside cottage experience.

    Elena2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Steve’s house is very easy to find and very close to Slaley Hall and Healey Barn. We had a wedding at Healey barn and had to be in and out of the house and back and forth to Slaley and Healey Barn. Steve was very flexible with allowing us to come and go as we pleased. The amenities are very comfortable and he makes a great coffee. We would definitely recommend. Keith

  • A special place to relax with a logbuner, looking onto a stream and wildlife.Close to access Northumberland but a secret hideaway!

    HELEN2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the spacious Boathouse. We were kept entertained by the many things to do in the area, but all looked forward to returning to the Boathouse each afternoon to relax. The beds were so comfortable that our children slept past 7am each day, which is unheard of! Our five-year-old said he wanted to stay 'forever' which is endorsement indeed! We particularly enjoyed watching the birds in the garden and listening to the babbling stream, and the children loved playing with the outdoor games equipment. A tranquil, restorative place.

  • Beautiful little location in Riding Mill, short drive to the Roman homesteads and Hadrian’s wall which was beautifully scenic and tranquil. The boathouse is exquisite with soft comfy beds and spacious bathrooms. Had to cut the trip short due to car trouble, but looking forward to staying again.

  • Boathouse is a stylish, warm and contemporary living space. It is set in a garden, next to our host's home, in a quiet and peaceful cul de sac. It's located a short drive away from the delightful village of Corbridge. • A lovely cabin in a stunning setting. We enjoyed a great morning At Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens with our little ones (just a ten minute drive). Del was so friendly and went out of her way to help us. Would highly recommend!

    Kate2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic stay we had at Del's place. We were so impressed by the facilities in the static caravan - the bedrooms were well appointed and so comfy, the living area was super relaxing, and the garden and grounds were tranquil and so perfect. Del was a very communicative and thoughtful host - she left us some freshly laid eggs from the chickens for our breakfast, and was so friendly and helpful when we were planning where to visit. The only drawback we found is that our break was over far too quickly - one night is not enough! Thanks again.

    Carly2019-09-17T00:00:00Z

Our host was so warm and welcoming. People and places like this is what makes Airbnb over booking a bog standard hotel room. 10 out of 10.

  • An absolute gem! We found Del's place as a last minute booking while travelling. Del is delightful and couldn't do enough for us. She has a busy farm but you wouldn't know it, the way she made sure we were completely comfortable. There were fresh farm eggs and special little treats left for us - far more than expected for the price. And best of all the bed was comfortable and everything was sparkling clean and surrounded in a lovely quiet garden. Best bnb we have experienced yet!

Kim was a great host and sent us a guide to the property before arrival - which got me very excited for the trip! We recommend putting the fire on if you are visiting in the colder months, although the property has underfloor heating which is great. The picturesque village of Blanchland is nearby and well worth a visit.

Karen had kindly left a bottle of wine for us to enjoy as well as some biscuits to go with the coffee pods provided. Comfortable lounge, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, bathroom, heating, pellet stove, TV. Goats graze the paddock to one side, Shetland ponies the other, it's quite special to see these animals at such close quarters. Sheep & cattle often graze the fields to the front. In all seasons the view is a real delight & cloud cover permitting the stars provide a spectacular canopy at night.
Stargazers cabin is a purpose built unique building situated to overlook and enjoy the amazing view we are blessed with. Fully plumbed and wired for all services it's a great spot to relax regardless of the season. Each room is heated, in the lounge is an amazing state of the art bio mass pellet stove, so in the winter you can cozy up with a hot chocolate and watch the beautiful view and the light change over the valley. In the summer you can sit outside, in your own private space to the front of the cabin, sipping the drink of your choice and soak in the peace and scenery. So whether your considering a romantic retreat for two, or thinking of bringing the kids to enjoy the animals, either way it makes a great base to explore Northumberland and all this wonderful county has to offer. We love to meet guests from both home and abroad and a warm welcome awaits. See our other listing also: Stable Cottage rural annex.
Although situated in beautiful countryside we are located only 6 minutes drive from Hexham town centre with all it has to offer....so it's the best of both worlds really. In town there is much to see including The Abbey, a thriving arts centre and theatre, cinema, sports facilities and the usual array of artisan shops, resturants and coffee houses and of course supermarkets. Well known Corbridge is only a 10/15 minute drive away and Hadrian's wall is easily acessed from several points and there are walking and cycling routes all around.
  • We only met Jim,and he was very informative about the property, it was a lovely place to stay, in a private setting with fantastic views, and I would certainly recommend to others, and return again myself.

  • Thank you so much Robyn & Jim for being fantastic hosts. We really enjoyed our stay at the stargazing cabin and were extremely lucky with the weather and clear nights. What a wonderful spot you have and the Cabin was beautiful with everything we needed.

    Rebecca2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cabin. Jim was ready and waiting for our arrival with a torch which was great as it was pitch black when we arrived! He showed us the cabin and gave instructions on how to use the pellet burner. The beds were comfy and there were loads of nice little touches like tea, coffee, milk , sugar and even biscuits, lots of snuggly throws to cosy up with and hot water bottles for everyone. All very clean, would thoroughly recommend this place to others.

  • We are a family of two adults and three children and we loved this diamond of a place, was so cosy and just what we needed. Just enough room for us and it was spotlessly clean. Thank you we will be back

  • A beautiful cabin woth fantastic views.. plenty of things to see and do in the area

  • The photos of this listing don’t do it justice. It’s a really well put together cabin, warm and cosy and well kitted out to a high standard throughout. I was there for a solo retreat - I’m not sure how I would have found it with the full 5-person capacity (!) - but for me it was a perfect, peaceful and comfy place to unwind. Jim and Robyn were warm and friendly and there as I needed them, but left me to myself the rest of the time. I’d definitely recommend and intend to go back for more time out myself. 😊

    Kiz2019-11-02T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for a lovely break. Robyn and Jim were fantastic hosts. The cabin is absolutely delightful, we thought it was ideal for our romantic getaway. We went to the local pub, which was cute and had a real family feel about it. Had dinner one night at a Greek in Hexham town, there was a card on the wall in the cabin and it was fantastic would highly recommend. Went to hadrians homesteads which was a beautiful day out. Overall I loved our stay. The cabin was so warm and cozy, that heater blows out alot of heat!! So don't be put off going in colder weather!! Comfy bed, amazing pressure on the shower, tea, coffee and milk all provided which were lovely touches. The views are breathtaking, no words could describe how truly beautiful the landscape is. Thank you again, we look forward to coming back one day.

  • A spacious secluded quiet getaway with a generous and vivacious host. A perfect base for walks or cycling on the moors or surrounding countryside. Julie was a great host anticipating our needs - whether it was wood for the fire or emergency lanterns when the electricity briefly failed during a storm! The cottage is much larger than the typical one bedroom cottage with fast Wifi (for a rural location), a well equipped kitchen and welcome treats of fresh homemade bread, brownies, eggs and milk for our stay.

    Steven2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful space, with stunning views and great walks. Julie the host made us feel really welcome (including our dog). The thing I would note is, the location is quite remote- but perfect if you want to be away from everything.

    Kevin2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place with a brilliant hostess!

    Christina2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Julie was a fantastic host with super quick responses! She went the extra mile leaving fresh farm eggs, home baked bread and brownies for our arrival. This place is a perfect get-away, we spent 2 nights with very little reason to leave the stunning fireside and cozy living room! The quality of the whole stay was superb! Only a 15 min drive to Hexham or Corbridge for authentic farmers markets and any essentials you may need. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to decompress or unwind!

    Paul2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Julie is just the perfect host ever. She went beyond the higher expectations of an airbnb host, with the cooking she did for us, it was like a dream! Thank you again! I, of course, recommend this airbnb 200%!

    Eva2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • A terrific place to stay! My wife and I arrived in the dark and pouring rain one Friday night. Julie came out to meet us and show us around the stylish apartment. Julie had lit the log fire stove, made us fresh brownies and brought us a freshly-baked loaf of bread shortly after we'd settled in. Marvellous hosting. The place itself is very well appointed and was sparkle-clean. We only stayed the one night as a stopover and arrived and departed in the dark and rain - so we can't comment on what are probably tremendous rural views from Julie's place. All in all, we were very happy with our stay and would readily highly recommend Julie's place.

    Mark2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay here, exactly as described - a beautiful, quiet cottage with everything you need for a little escape in the countryside! Being able to bring our dog was perfect for us as well. It's pretty remote so you'll need a car but the directions we received were perfect and we had no issues finding it. Julie was prompt and really helpful with communication without, we also met her a couple of times, she is lovely and her hospitality is second to none!

    Alicia2019-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • We were very impressed by Julie's hospitality, and the standard of her accommodation. If you like to stay off the beaten track, in a private upland area of outstanding natural beauty, you will not be disappointed. The kitchen was spacious, modern and fitted to a very high standard offering lots of counter space to prepare food. We especially liked the bathroom, which featured a large Jacuzzi bath/shower unit - plenty of room for two! The living room featured a large corner unit which converted into a comfortable double bed. There is also a wood burner, which we greatly appreciated (the accommodation is also centrally heated throughout). The main bedroom was fitted with modern light oak furniture, the bed being comfortable and solid, fitted with high quality pillows, sheets and duvet. We especially liked the soft, deep pile carpet. Well done, Julie!

I cannot recommend highly enough.

  • An absolutely wonderful stay at the beatiful Loft! I came up here for a solo writing retreat, and it couldnt have been a more perfect spot for it. Really had the chance to recharge, reflect and unwind. Beautiful setting in the Northumberland hills, incredible light and natural landscapes, and so well set up and cosy place. Everything was perfect, spotlessly clean, with tasteful decor, very large and comfy bed and lots of thoughtful touches everywhere. Communication with Georgina was great and really enjoyed meeting both Georgina and Ralph, both super friendly and helpful, inc. having a wonderful trail run around the beautiful surrounding streams and woodlands. It's an ideal location to discover the delights of Northumberland with Hexham just 10 mins away. Highly recommend!

  • We loved being here....... The location. The countryside. The warmth, despite it being mid-winter. The blue-and-white interiors. The big cosy bed......It's a quite amazing place to chill out, stop and connect with the energy of the land.

Hello! I am renting out one or two bedrooms, with your own modern private bathroom and also private living/dining room. My home is on a quiet street, with plenty of parking and only a 5/10min walk into the centre of town through the local park. I've lived in the area all my life and so can offer great advice on places to eat, pubs, picturesque walks and places worth a visit. If the guests wish I will also offer a well equipped continental breakfast with teas and filter coffee.
The main bedroom is a queen size bed with desk, draws, wardrobe, kettle with fair trade teas, coffee and cookies. There is also a TV screen with a HDMI cable so guests can watch films and TV programs from their laptop. The second room is a new large single bed which also has a wardrobe, draws and a new bedside table. The living room has a comfy sofa to relax on next to a log burning stove. It also has a dinning room table where your breakfast will be laid out for you in the morning. Or a place for you to eat a take away/dinner if you wish to stay in on the evenings. It also has a piano if you wish to play some music. The bathroom has a powerful shower with bath tub, sink, toilet and a cupboard filled with toiletries. There is also a garage to the back of the house where guests can store bikes or any other equipment if they wish. I should also mention that we have a very lovely greyhound who will be in the house, she wont pester you on your stay but if you enjoy playing with dogs she is very friendly and will love your attention.
We are located on a quite road with plenty of parking spaces. We're walking distance of everything needed and roughly 5-10 minutes to the centre of town and a one minute walk from the main park, the Sele park, and also from a nice pub called the Fox with local ales and a pool table.
  • Rosie's place is wonderful! The facilities are just right and she has thought of everything. Communication was quick and efficient and all instructions easy to follow. The house is located in a quiet street and it is an easy walk to the centre of Hexham. Liz (Rosie's Mum) looked after us during our recent visit and was kind and helpful and very friendly. Last but not least - this has to be the best value accommodation in the town!

    David2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great room, great breakfast, and all very close to the town centre! Highly recommended.

    Stephen2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Rosie was away but her mum, Liz, did a great job of looking after us, setting out a fine continental breakfast in the morning and lighting a lovely wood-burning stove for us in the evenings. Comfortable bed, stylish house, nice bathroom, kind use of the kitchen, friendly dog - all highly recommended.

Situated in a secluded location, within easy level walking distance of Hexham market town centre, School Cottage is a unique building; a great base from which to explore all that Northumberland has to offer. The cottage has two ensuite bedrooms and sleeps 4 people. It has a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. The lounge has an electric wood burning effect stove with satellite TV. Off street parking for two cars is included along with a private south facing courtyard.
The owners recently acquired Orchard Gap and have spent five years restoring both the main school house and the out buildings, one of which is School Cottage. Refurbishment was completed in February 2020. The detached stone & brick cottage was originally built as stables around 1853 and used as school rooms during WWII. With original period features, this recently modernised property has WI-FI, two ensuite bedrooms and beamed ceilings upstairs which adds to the character of the cottage. There is a handrail to help with steps at the main door. The kitchen has an electric fan oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine (with access to a dryer) with ample crockery, glasses and cutlery. The through lounge contains a sofa and two armchairs and a dining table which sits up to 6 people. There is an original fireplace with electric log burner effect fire. A bookshelf contains a variety of books and games and a collection of DVDs and information on attractions in the area. Bedroom 1 has a pleasant view over gardens and has twin beds that can also be converted to a Super king size when required. Bedroom 2 has a King size bed and overlooks the garden of Orchard Gap, including the original Victorian greenhouse complete with vine. Both have ensuite bathroom with walk in shower, heated towel rail, hand basin and toilet. We can provide a cot. Please contact us for further details.
Hexham is famous for its market, wide range of pubs and restaurants (including the well-known Bouchon French restaurant). Nearby are Wallington Hall (National Trust), Belsay Hall (English Heritage), the beautiful village of Corbridge which also has a Roman Camp visitors centre, the Roman Wall (House steads, Chester’s and Vindolanda) and the recently opened visitors centre at The Sill; during summer months a bus service to sites along the Roman wall operates from the railway station in Hexham. Also nearby is the wonderful Northumberland Coast, the Lake District and the vibrant city of Newcastle (30 – 40 mins by train). Many cyclists base themselves in Hexham along with people walking the Roman wall.

  • My husband, 2 year-old son and I enjoyed a wonderful weekend at Keith’s cozy yet surprisingly spacious cottage. It was the perfect base for visiting Hexham - it’s in a nearby quiet village location but only five minutes away from a Starbucks for that morning caffeine fix. The kitchen is well stocked and the living space is comfortable. We enjoyed sitting in front of the gas fireplace on a stormy winter evening. We would highly recommend!

    Caitlin2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The house is just amazing. Even more space than we had expected with all amenities and every base covered. We had some confusion with the booking as the listing room types did not match the house but there were 3 separate bedrooms one large double, one single and a large room in the attic space with two single beds. Would definitely stay here again if I am working near Hexham.

    Michele2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is an excellent base from which to explore the area and also a perfect space for relaxing. It lacks nothing and the village of Acomb seems very quiet and peaceful. The local Miner's Arms was welcoming as was the Heart of Northumberland in Hexham. There is so much to see and do in the area and we shall definitely return. Thank you to hosts Keith and Fiona x

  • This cottage is great. I based myself here for some work and sightseeing. A great base to warm up. Comfy bed, great kitchen utensils etc, shower and sitting areas. Lovely welcome by Keith and lots of info for surrounding area. So wonderfully quiet with little phone reception so you can switch off completely. Lovely for a break on your own like I did, or a family holiday. Thank you!

  • A beautifully presented and clean cottage with plenty of room. The cottage has been renovated wonderfully but still holds lots of charming character. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and utensils etc. Bathrooms are clean and modern and the bedrooms have plenty of space to hang clothes. The fireplace in the lounge is great and gives a really cozy atmosphere. The hosts were lovely and very welcoming, offering great recommendations for places to eat and things to do.

West Fell Cottage combines the benefits of rural tranquility and beautiful views across the Tyne Valley with its proximity to the picturesque village of Corbridge situated only 1 mile away. It is also within easy reach of Corbridge Railway Station, Hexham, Hadrians Wall and Newcastle Airport. This recently renovate cottage has a wood burning stove and spa bath and benefits from a spacious garden with patio and BBQ.
Our timber frame cottage was originally built in the 1880s as a farmhouse and retains many of its original features. A recent renovation has transformed the cottage into a modern, light, airy space with large open plan living area. The addition of insulation, central heating and a wood burning stove also ensures a cosy retreat. The private south facing garden looks out onto sheep pastures containing the site of a possible roman fortlet. To the north there are expansive views of the Tyne Valley. We have a number of old farm buildings adjacent to the cottage but these house only a few chickens and our logs, it is not a working farm. You can keep bikes safely in one of our locked sheds. At the bottom of our garden there is a bridleway with easy access to some lovely circular walks, runs and traffic light cycle rides to the likes of Blanchland and Allendale.
Corbridge contains many independent shops, character pubs, restaurants and tearooms. Hexham only 4 miles away hosts a 12th Century Abbey, independent traders and three supermarkets. Tynedale Rugby club is only a short walk away and hosts events such as the annual beer and music festivals. We are well located for Hadrian's wall, Allendale Banks, Keilder Water and many National Trust and English Heritage sites.

  • Gutted that we only stayed here for one night whilst on the way to Scotland. A lovely place in a unique setting that we would go back to so that can we can explore more of the area. Loved all of the little touches throughout and was more than suitable for our 1 and a 1/2 year old. Thank you and hopefully will be back again one day!

  • Lovely place with lots of character. Jane was a very thoughtful host, putting the heating on for arrival and leaving us some milk. The parking was very convenient. The flat was very homely and welcoming and there is a garden area. The location is great with lots of outdoor activities around. Thanks for having us!

  • What a fabulous cottage. The location was spot on, with a fabulous play park across the road and slap bang in the centre of town. We were very comfortable and felt instantly at home. Many Thanks.

    Claire2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A fabulous cottage, contemporary furniture and spotless with lovely thoughtful welcome packages. The information folder with detailed walks was very useful, a fantastic location in a beautiful village

    Sandra2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, with all of Corbridge within walking distance..

    Jim2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful little house, very stylishly decorated and conveniently located.

    Emma2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • We hired the cottage for my elderly mum so she could be near us for Christmas but also have her own space. The cottage is beautifully decorated, light, airy but very cosy for Christmas as well. Lorna was a brilliant host. Answering all my queries very quickly and even offering to add a grab rail in the shower. Lovely welcome pack was waiting on arrival with mulled wine and other calorific treats. Parking can be tricky on this street but over Christmas we always found a spot and if it was busy, Lorna’s suggestions to use the vet’s or the Chinese takeaway car park was good advice. As a local I would recommend this location to visitors as it’s really handy for the village centre and everything else Northumberland has to offer.

No 1 White Gate Cottage is only minutes walk from Corbridge centre with its interesting shops, great cafes, restaurants and character pubs. Corbridge is the perfect centre for exploring Hadrians Wall and the beautiful Northumbrian countryside.
The cottage has recently been renovated to a very high standard and has a delightful private garden with patio dining area. It has the added advantage of car parking spaces which is unusual in the centre of Corbridge. There is a shed suitable for bike storage. The 2 bedroom accommodation is all at ground floor level with attractive open plan living with modern kitchen with all appliances , dining area and sunny lounge with large windows and doors to the pretty garden.
  • Totally agree with previous reviews about how great this cottage was - we didn’t want to leave! It became a real highlight of our stay ( the weather was pretty awful) so coming home to a cosy, immaculately clean house was lovely. All communication was excellent and the guide book on the cottage was clear and concise. Would definitely return.

    Christine2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay at White Gate Cottage which was beautifully furnished, modern throughout and sparkling clean. The real flame fire was especially lovely and was so nice to sit beside while relaxing with a wine and taking in the views of the garden. The cottage was perfectly placed just a short stroll from the centre of the village, so we could park the car up and walk everywhere and take in the sights of Corbridge properly. Doug’s communication, location and check in instructions were spot on, making our arrival trouble free, and the information book in the cottage gave us everything we needed to know about the cottage and Corbridge to make our stay easier. It was a really nice touch to find milk, butter, jams, bread, teabags, coffee, biscuits and a bottle of wine, that Doug had left, to welcome us after our long journey. We also loved the little bottles of toiletries on the towels. The best AirBnB we have stayed at by far. We are already looking at booking again.

  • Fantastic cottage. Short walking distance into the village. Clean, well equipped accommodation with Two good sized bedrooms. Very clean bathroom. Enough parking space for 2 cars and plenty of amenities within the village.

I had very elderly person with me and this was excellent accommodation for them with great access. I wouldn't hesitate at staying here again and can thoroughly recommend it to others.

    Mark2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • As can be seen from previous reviews, we stay here frequently when we visit the North East - this is such great accommodation I wouldn't consider anywhere else!

    Christopher2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay. Very comfortable and warm with all the mod cons. Excellent location within Corbridge, very easy to walk into the town. Would definitely recommend.
