Gaze up at the stars from the private hot tub. Located in the picturesque hamlet of Soyland, on the hills above Ripponden, Shaw Edge Barn is perfect for an escape to the countryside for walking, cycling, relaxation and site seeing. The barn has far reaching, uninterrupted views over the valley recently made famous by the successful tv series Happy Valley and Last Tango in Halifax Perfect location for Manchester and Leeds, both easily reached by taxi or train. * additional charge for hot tub
We would love to welcome all guests to our newly converted stone, detached three-bedroom first floor barn with a spacious open plan living area. We are situated in the heart of Soyland, in an area of outstanding natural beauty, with stunning scenery and within easy access of both the Pennine and the Calderdale Way. The location makes the barn a perfect choice for those visiting the NEM in Manchester or the First Direct Arena as both are easily reached by taxi or train. Shaw Edge Barn is a new conversion with spacious lounge, fully equipped kitchen, 2 double bedrooms, one bedroom with bunk beds, bathroom with bath and shower and utility room, all furnished to a high standard. It has its own thermostatically controlled central heating to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Cotton bed linen and fresh towels are provided and there is also a travel cot and high chair. The utility space includes a washer dryer, freezer and a monks bench for shoe removal and storage. Guests can wake up to see sheep and lambs in the fields, and have a fresh daily supply of free range eggs from our own chickens. Patio doors from the main living space open up onto the barbecue and outdoor seated area with barbecue and fire pit. If you are short on time, and you'd like to do an online grocery shop, we will be more than happy to receive and unpack it for you. Please do let us know if this would be of interest. There is a small additional charge of £25 per day for the hot tub, except for those guests staying for a full week where this charge is £75 for the full week. If it's a special occasion, our Bubbles and Bouquet deal, can be purchased at extra charge, please ask for details or see the hot tub packages. We are happy to decorate the barn for surprise birthdays, anniversaries etc and can purchase occasion cakes for you in advance of your stay. Please ask for details.
Soyland is a small hamlet on the hills above the pretty village of Ripponden. It has numerous recommended restaurants, take aways, and public houses. Whilst a rural area, it is conveniently situated between Leeds and Manchester and just ten to fifteen minutes from the M62 motorway. There are two local public houses within walking distance which offer a very high class of food and entertainment on certain evenings. We are close to the town of Hebden Bridge, which is only 8 miles away by car or easily walked or cycled along the canal tow path. Here, you can take a canal barge trip or shop in the lovely quaint stores, or browse the antique shops. Other local places of interest include: Hollingsworth Lake - where you can take a boat ride or partake in water sports, or take the 2.2 mile round the lake walk - (8.8 miles) Heptonstall- made famous by the historic coiners -(9.5miles) Halifax - with its famous Piece Hall, Shibden Park and Gibbett - (6.2 miles) Haworth- made famous by the Bronte Sisters (13.5 miles) Holmfirth-Last of the Summer Wine Country - (13.5 miles) York - the famous walled city - (50 miles) Lots of tourist information can be found in the information binder found on the reception desk. Halifax is the nearest town which houses a cinema, bowling alley, swimming pool, sports centre, shops, library, the Civic Theatre, The Halifax Playhouse and the recently refurbished Piece Hall. In early September the area hosts the Rush Bearing Festival and the Norland Scarecrow Hunt - information on these can be found in the information folder or the websites.
  • Wonderful and cosy barn, super stylish and modern too. Susan was a great host, it had everything we needed including fresh eggs! Great location- walked to pubs and not far from some great hills.

  • What a wonderful lodge in the heart of some beautiful scenery. Fantastic for chilling out and relaxing especially in the hot tub

    Gillian2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Absolute fantastic place to stay, couldn’t have asked for more. Beautiful views, fresh eggs and a baby lamb to watch out of the kitchen window 🥰🥰 The barn is new and modern, beds and linen beautiful, I wish we had stayed longer.

  • The barn is a home away from home, it has everything you need! Great value for money and in a great location for a little break away! Some lovely places around to go walking or for some food but the barn also has great facilities if you want to just stay in play games and cook. The views are incredible and can’t forget to mention how cute the animals are especially Sue’s dog! Highly recommend x

  • The barn is very stylish, sparkling clean and nicely decorated - modern yet homely. It had everything we needed for our stay, and the fresh eggs were a lovely touch. The barn's location is excellent; you have enough privacy but you're not completely isolated. The local village is a 5 minute drive away with plenty of shops should you need something. Communicating with Susan was straight-forward and easy. There were plenty of recommendations for local attractions/experiences which were very much appreciated. The barn really completed our escape from the city life, and we would definitely recommend staying here - it's great value for money too. Thanks again Susan!

  • Superb property with lovely hot tub in a great location to explore the nearby towns and countryside

    Ed2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful barn, with stunning views. We were attending a wedding at the fleece inn and it was a perfect location for us. The kitchen/ lounge area plan is a great place for socialising. Rolling countryside views with sheep and chickens who love to be fed! Good communication from Susan. Would recommend.

The Bothy is close to Shipley Glen with easy access to Saltaire, the world heritage village and its railway station (15 min walk down the hill through the woods), Leeds Bradford Airport (15 min drive). You’ll love it because it's a self contained character cottage with off street parking. Located next to our house, it's completely private and tucked away, so great if you just want some peace and quiet. It's great for couples, solo adventurers and business travellers. LGTBQ friendly :-)
The Bothy really is a great space and has everything you need for a relaxed stay without the awkwardness of staying in someone's home or the bland surroundings of a generic hotel chain. Situated adjacent to our house, the Bothy is self contained with its own front door. It features a welcoming lounge with a sofa and an easy chair, Freeview tv, DAB radio and log burner. There's also a small table, a bathroom with walk in shower, a compact kitchen, and a first floor bed deck accessed via a staircase that features a double bed, USB charging pods, hanging rail and chest of drawers. We provide free Yorkshire Tea, instant and fresh coffee and a jar of sweet treats. We'll also pop a small Kilner bottle of skimmed milk in the fridge, so you can have a brew as soon as you arrive and settle in. The kitchen is compact and features a two ring halogen hob. There is no conventional oven, however a small counter top oven and microwave are provided. There's also a toaster and kettle. Towels are provided, as well as quality toiletries such as shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and loo roll. Free VirginMedia Wifi. Please note that the Wifi is operated as an extension to the main house hub and sometimes can drop out. It isn't ideal for streaming. The Bothy features a log burning stove. We're happy to supply a starter fuel pack for £8 which will include logs for one night, kindling and firelighters. Further logs can be purchased from local stores or you can simply bring your own. Please let us know if you require a fuel pack before arrival. We provide a range of lifestyle magazines, bought for guests to read. Please don't use them to light the fire or take away with you. There is no washing machine. Should you require anything to be washed we're happy for you to use the machine and the tumble dryer in the main house for a small charge. We do have a travel cot should guests be travelling with a baby. However please note that it can only be set up on the ground floor. The accommodation isn't really suitable for small children. No long terms lets... sorry! Very LGTBQ friendly :-) Please consider travel insurance, all bookings are subject to Airbnb's 'strict' cancellation policy, without exceptions.
The neighbourhood is very residential and quiet. It's a popular area for middle class families. The house is located about 1.5 miles from Baildon village centre where you'll find pubs, bars, restaurants, Co-Op supermarket, cashpoints, post office etc. Ideally you will need a car, but we are accessible via public transport and then on foot or by taxi. Some former guests have marked us down on our location, which amuses me given that there's a map that shows where we are, and I explicitly say we're in a very quiet, residential location. We're set on the hill above Saltaire, the world heritage village which is within a 15 minute walk down through the woods. The village features the world renowned Salt's Mill as well as shops, restaurants, cafes and bars; Saltaire railway station has links to Leeds, Bradford and Skipton. Shipley Glen is a few minutes walk from the house with access to the moors and the Old Glen House pub, which serves food. It is a great base from which to explore Yorkshire's cities such as shoppers paradise Leeds and curry capital Bradford. Its magnificent towns such as Hebden Bridge, Skipton, Harrogate and Ilkley are all within a 30-40 minute drive. Wharfedale, the southern most part of the Yorkshire Dales is within easy reach by car, and features the beautiful Bolton Abbey and picturesque villages of Grassington, Kilnsey and Kettlewell.

  • This is an immaculate house which sleeps up to 8 people. It was lovely and clean and every room was beautifully decorated. It would be lovely in the summer as the garden is gorgeous and large. Would highly recommend this house and Emma was great at getting back to me with any queries.

  • Lovely staying at this place, the views were stunning Shame the weather wasn’t better so we could enjoy the outside of the house and that we were only passing through - we would’ve stayed longer The fireplace was a great surprise as was the water pressure ! Would definitely recommend

  • Superb house - great layout for family and super garden... beautifully clean and Emma looked after us every step of the way. Highly recommend this place to anyone!!

    Charlie2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely big house with everything we needed for a night away, and a brilliant host who couldn’t do enough for us. Emma went over and above to give us the best experience possible, absolutely no hesitation in recommending to anyone and everyone!

    Daniel2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Emma's house is so cozy and inviting. It really is a home from home and is absolutely great value for money. There is a lovely rural view out the back (featuring a dry stone wall) and although the house is situated in a modern cul-de-sac, you really get the sense that you are on the edge of the wild. Communication with Emma was great and access arrangements to the house were very straightforward. I highly recommend.

Most Brits love a cuppa after a long drive! The apartment is modern, clean and has everything you need, we would definitely stay here again if we were in the area!

Characterful, cosy and quirky late 17th century weaver's cottage situated in the suburb of Fartown approximately 1.4 miles from Huddersfield town centre and train station. There are excellent links from the train station to Manchester airport, Leeds, York and London via Wakefield. Bus stops are close by (for Huddersfield and Bradford) and there is easy access to the M62 (approximately 2 miles away).
The small cottage is full of character, with an interior that's a fusion of vintage, retro, industrial, rustic and country cottage elements. The main space is the cosy kitchen/living room (approx 5 metres x 3 metres in size). The kitchen section has a fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave, smoothie maker, single induction hob and small oven. The simple living room has two comfortable leather armchairs, coffee table, and electric heater. The upstairs bedroom (approx 3 x 3metres in size) contains one double bed, an electric heater in the bedroom, hanging space for clothes, and a wall-mounted 40 inch television with main freeview channels in HD. The new bathroom suite has an electric shower. There is NO WiFi in the cottage. Outside the cottage is a private/fenced garden with outdoor table and two chairs, that guests are welcome to use. There is an adjoining cottage next door (it is currently unoccupied, but there could be workmen on site at times doing work renovating it). The cottage accommodate 1-2 guests due to its size. Although situated in a fairly busy urban area, the cottage is set back from the road which gives it a more removed and secluded feeling and usually its pretty quiet. Guest access Guests are welcome to arrive from 3pm onwards and the departure time is by 11.am. Other things to note Please be aware that there is no Wi-Fi in the cottage. There will be a selection of foodstuffs available (in the fridge and on the shelves) for the preparation of breakfast, which could include the following: bread, butter, breakfast cereals, various spreads, filter coffee and tea. Although the cottage is Andy's home, on occasions he may need to call by for various reasons, but would let you know in advance. Whenever possible, guests will be greeted by Andy, otherwise guests can use the key safe for self check-in from 3pm onwards.
Within a short walking distance away is a post office, bakery, chemist, launderette, general store, takeaways and restaurants. There's also a choice of supermarkets in the area including Asda, Aldi, Sainsburys and Tesco.
  • Very cute cottage, really enjoyable stay. Perfect if you're looking for some time to yourself to read or listen to music. It is a very small place, so be prepared for that, but it adds to the charm. If the weather had been better this week, I would have been able to enjoy the garden area a bit more. Recommended for spring / summer months. The accommodation was very cute, and I had a great time there. It is the perfect place if you want to spend a little time alone. The house is quite small but this adds to its charm. In spring / summer it would be an ideal place.

    Emma2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect, a country hidaway in the city

    Steve2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • The Nest is a really cosy, clean and comfortable place to stay. A place to relax in as soon as you walk through the door. Andrew provides all you need (plus some very thoughtful extras) to ensure a great stay. We will definitely stay again and would recommend to anyone looking to visit this area.

    Jo2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • As they say...’Good things come in small packages’! I arrived late and walked up the side path. At first I wasn’t sure as the house next door looked run down , HOWEVER , don’t be put off as you realise it’s having a facelift , the builders are in progress updating. So once in it’s a safe little nest .. As a woman on my own, with dog, it was ideal. All small details thought of for your furry friend too. Everything explained very clearly re heating , all simple to use .. fridge had a choice of milks ( very thoughtful) and all very clean..the bed is extremely comfortable... and the best thing for me, I had no WiFi so peace and quiet .... a great excuse. Andrew responded quickly to any question . Yes I would recommend . Thank you Andrew.

    Lucy2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • It's a real cosy 'nest ', extremely clean and relaxing .we would happily return one day

    Stefanos2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Andy's place is beautiful. It's a perfect place to relax as a couple and their dog. The decor is fab and the amenities great. Loved the touches for breakfast!

    Abbie2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully decorated cosy little place. The host Andy was very generous with the amenities available, everything you would want for a short stay and was there.

    Abby2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is adorable and beautiful with lovely comfy facilities and lots of personal touches for the guests who stay there. Andrew was easy to get a hold of while being very welcoming and answered every question even providing good places nearby to eat or bus and train options for those who need it. Would easily recommend this place as it was nice location and lovely accommodation and hosting.

Some recent reviews for The Farmhouse …… Myself and my extended family stayed at this property from 30/12/19 to 02/01/20. We had the most wonderful New Years Eve. We were met by Anita and her housekeeper on arrival and everything about the property and the local area was explained to us. Shaun then Allen and presented us with bottles of Proseco which was a lovely touch. The property is fabulous it’s so quirky yet so very homely. The space is fantastic for a large group as it can afford so much space and still provide a quiet spot if one needs to get away from the group. It was spotlessly clean and very tidy and so do warm and cosy. Towels were provided and plenty of them for all guests. The kitchen/diner is a lovely space and equipped to a very high standard there is plenty of crockery and cooking utensils and the large range cooker is terrific. I cannot recommend this property highly enough. It is a gem of a property for a large group and with the added bonus of the lovely hot tub it’s a winner. The booking which we did with Phil and Cath was easy and so professional any questions were answered immediately and emails were responded to very quickly. Love love this property Teresa McK - TripAdv1sor Jan 2020 We had such an amazing time at the farmhouse in Doncaster! We had everything we needed to make it a special time for our girl! The lambs, alpacas and puppy made it extra special. Thank you Sarah-Claire Hewitt - FacebOOk We stayed at The Farmhouse for my best friend's Hen Party and we had the best (very unique) weekend! Feeding alpacas and lambs was an amazing experience although the alpacas were rather enjoying each others company (if you know what I mean ;) We had a caterer, PTJ, come to the house on Saturday night and we had a BBQ, Nikki was really friendly and made the best pulled pork I have ever had! We had a really enjoyable weekend and I would recommend to any Hen looking to spend some quality time with her family and friends. Phil and Cath have been amazing and the weekend would have amounted to very little without their help and advice :) Rosie Saunders - FacebOOk I spent last weekend at the farmhouse for my hen do. It was totally amazing! There were 20 of us and the space was perfect. We loved the garden, the cute bedrooms, the great social areas downstairs and enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub and feeding the alpacas. Phil and Cath were good at email communication and the information sheet they sent in advance with tips for activities and travel was really useful. • My partner and I stayed for one night only and messaged ahead with some particular requests that Sam was so accommodating with. The space is very comfortable and has everything you need for a long/short stay. There is a real sense of privacy in the accommodation and with your own access door you can come and go as you please without disturbing anyone. Would recommend and would definitely stay here again.

It is set in beatful contryside, and there is a farm shop down the road. Sam and Darren was a great Host, and they had thought of everything.and there home is clean and beatuful. Having use of there kicthern is and use of the dinning table is a real bonis, and we defently be back. This would also suit a comunter. As you have everything you need. 😊. We look forwrd to being back soon. Many thanks Becky.

  • Well worth the visit. Clean bright and wanted for nothing. Farmers market just down the road and pub/restaurant just 5mins away.

  • Excellent repeat stay, lovely facilities and location

    Paul2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Sam's home was lovely and she even extended by 1 night for us when we requested! The room was very clean, bed incredibly comfy and warm with extra duvets (and a heater in the room for extra cosiness). We found Sam very approachable and great with local tips. There is a pub a stones throw away (basically next door) and the farm shop is amazing. We were expecting the layout of the building to be slightly different with the guest area completely private and separate but it is alongside the same building with both facing the same direction, like neighbours! This is not an issue however and we would stay again. Thank you very much for having us.

Single room with TV and storage, cosy space for a good night's rest. TV and WiFi. Use of living room for relaxing and watching a movie. Tea and coffee provided, a clean towel and a basic breakfast is also included. Toast & cereal.
Terrace property in a quiet location perfect to relax and unwind after a long day. The house is in a great location close to Shipley train station & Saltaire village. If you like real ale Fanny’s ale house is a must, my favourite watering hole. Shipley also have an Aggra Indian restaurant I fully recommend. A stones throw from the Leeds Liverpool canal.
Commute to Leeds within half an hr ( inc way to station ) Close to some nice returants and local bars. Saltaire is close by with lots to see and do. Train gets you into Leeds in 20 mins and trains run every 15 mins. Bradford is a 10 min ride, plenty of lovely places to visit Skipton is one of my favourite spots with lots to see and do.
  • Carol was an outstanding host and very hospitable. The room that I booked ended up being rented to someone weeks after my booking so Carol gave me a bigger and better room that was clean and comfortable. Her place is about a 12 minute walk from Shipley’s train station, and on weekdays it’s only under £7 for a round trip to Leeds.

  • Really enjoyed my stay, the kettle and tea/coffee selection in the room was wonderful. The view from the window was outstanding, wifi worked well and ‘cable’ tv(I can’t remember the name of the network) was set up for me as soon as I arrived so I could watch a range of different movies and shows in bed. The bus ride into Leeds city centre was so pretty and scenic too, and the bus stop only a few minutes down the road. Great hosts as well. Overall a really great place.

It’s a classic townhouse, built from Yorkshire stone, and it’s here to help you leave your worries at the door and enjoy some well-earned rest and leisure time. You can tell the owners and hosts love this place as much as they hope you will. That’s illustrated by the living room area, probably the space you’ll all spend the most time in together. There are twin sofas in here, so when you get the chance, kick off your shoes, grab the remote and see what’s on the digital TV. It’s connected to Freeview and you can connect to your Netflix and Amazon Prime accounts too, so you can keep track of that series that has you hooked even while you’re away and sports fans can watch the big games. The lounge has a dining table, ready to host a sit-down meal for you all if that’s what you’re planning. It can also double as your work desk if you’re in Yorkshire on business. And, accessed from this room, your very own private garden, another space in which you can relax and unwind after a long day’s exploring or working in Yorkshire. Adjacent to the lounge is your kitchen, and there’s everything you’d expect to find in a modern kitchen in here - cooking appliances, washing machine, dishwasher and the absolutely essential kettle which you can use to fix yourselves a proper brew - using Yorkshire tea, of course! We'll even put out some yummy cookies for you :-) Also down on the ground floor, a handy WC. There are two more upstairs, one in the ensuite shower room that’s part of the main bedroom, the other in the main bathroom which features a tub that invites you to lay back and relax. Speaking of the bedrooms, of which there are four, three on the first floor and one in the loft conversion, they feature a mix of double and single beds, so great for groups of work colleagues, contractors and families looking for quality serviced accommodation in the Halifax area. And with two bath/shower rooms, and three WC's, you don't have to worry about waiting if you're in a hurry to get up and away in a morning. You’ll be pleased to know that free, super fast fibre broadband serves the whole house, so you can keep in touch with the office or clients easily enough. It’s worth mentioning here that at the side of the property there are two free parking spaces, so you can always find somewhere to leave your vehicles and you won’t have far to carry your luggage into the house!
If you want to escape from it all and sample life in a quiet Yorkshire hamlet, yet be close enough to the lively big cities in the area, then this 4 bedroom Queensbury house near Halifax is for you. You’ll be just a few minute’s drive from the town centres of Halifax and Bradford where you will find a whole host of shops and coffee shops, bars and restaurants to keep yourselves entertained. • A lovely cottage in a very quiet neighborhood. We found comfy beds, an inviting living room with lots of things to occupy with, well equipped kitchen, and lots of information about the area. Parking on the bigger road nearby was no problem (even with a bigger car). High street, Bronte Personage museum and pubs close by. Just take into account a very steep/small staircase if you're less mobile.

  • What a perfect little cottage in a great location to see all Haworth has to offer and Lina gave us some great recommendations, our favourite being The Hawthorn, which Lina had said was hers too. So many nice cafes and pubs to check out and we enjoyed a lovely breakfast at Cobbles and Clay Deli. The Haworth Old Hall had a pop up gin bar in a marquee which was great. The Bronte Personage Museum was so interesting and well worth a visit and we took a the steam train through the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. The Cottage was clean, bright and had a fab shower and really efficient heating. Lina had left tea coffee and milk which was thoughtful. Very well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and oh so quiet and peaceful. The communication was brilliant and I think the key safe is a great idea, first time I had used this with airbnb but what a brilliant idea. We would definitely return.

  • We went to Carol's place after another host did not respond for the check for in even after a confirmed booking. Carol responded quickly to all our communication. Her place is well thought out and the room had everything we needed. The bed was super comfortable and the large TV in the room made it a relaxing stay in. Would definitely recommend the space to anyone and would stay there again.

  • This was my first experience of AirBnb, and what a super introduction. The room was warm and comfortable with a wonderful view over Saltaire. All facilities were clean and tidy, and the wonderful shower was an experience in itself. The supplied breakfast kept me going until lunchtime. The noise level was low, so I got a comfortable night's sleep. Carol's place has my firmest recommendation. You can't go wrong.

There are many places of interest that are a walk away, a bus ride away or a car ride away. If you enjoy history, places such as Haworth and Bolton Abbey are fascinating. Hebden Bridge is very well known for its array of independent shops and Skipton has a beautiful castle, great shopping and terrific fish & chips and beautiful walks. Ilkley is yet another lovely place for walking, eating and shopping......the list goes on and on.
  • Susan is the most amazing and thoughtful host! Bed was soooo cosy just the best after long night shifts. Definitely recommend. Thanks again Susan. Xx

  • Excellent place. I would book it again if it's available next time I'm in town.

  • Very lovely lady and the house is extremely cosy

  • Susan is a Superhost and the house has everything you need for any length of stay.

    Philip2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Susan was there to meet me and was very helpful and clear with her explanation of how everything worked. She was very hospitable, even offering to make me a cup of tea before she left. For anyone with mobility issues like me it’s ideal as there is a wet room style shower, so there’s no threshold to climb over. There are grab bars in various places around the house and even a chair lift on the stairs, although I did not use this. The 2 steps outside the side door are quite steep, but I found the front steps easy to use as they are shallower and wider with a banister at each side to hold on to. Bread, butter, eggs, milk, tea, coffee and condiments were all provided The house was very clean and I had a good nights sleep in the comfy bed. There is a very handy corner shop just across the quiet street and 2 large supermarkets within walking distance. For people without a car, the bus stop is just around the corner. I would not hesitate to use Susan’s house again and would highly recommend it to others.

  • Susan was very helpful, and provided milk bread and eggs for our stay, which was very kind. The house is cosy, despite not having central heating as their are ample heaters and a gas fire in the lounge. It suited is very well and I would definitely stay here again

    Anni2019-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • Nice and cosy little house, exactly as described. Susan was a great host!

    Evangelos2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Was absolutely excellent staying at Susan's house. There were no issues in the 4 days I was there and Susan was helpful for all the days by providing me items for breakfast as well as giving me a good place to stay. Will definitely come back here next time.

Your own sitting room, bedroom and bathroom in "delightful house with amazing charm and character". Log burning stove, central heating, double glazing and great views. Thornton, historic pennine village and birthplace of the Brontes, is well sited for country walks and cycling. Local shops, gallery, pubs, and good places to eat in easy walking distance. Handy for Saltaire, Haworth, Bradford, Halifax, Shibden (Gentleman Jack), and Keighley. Good bus links from Bradford and Keighley. LGBT friendly
This is a stone built detached house with lots of period features (such as window shutters and some stone flagged floors). It would be ideal for people who are looking to do some walking or cycling in the area or who want a comfortable base for sightseeing or just chilling. We are well situated for exploring the Yorkshire Dales, Pennines,Trough of Bowland areas. We are right on the Bronte Way. You will have a double room ,a large sitting/dining room of your own and exclusive use of one of the bathrooms. There are fantastic views from the front of the house and pleasant cottage style gardens for your use.
Thornton is a village on a south facing valley side, just above Bradford on the edge of the moors. The older houses and cottages are built of the local sandstone and are often packed tightly together with little cobbled streets and alleyways. There is a local art gallery, deli cafe bar and a good selection of pubs. It is mainly surrounded by farmland, with many footpaths. A feature is the massive old railway viaduct which spans the valley below the village and leads towards Queensbury the highest village in England. This is now a cycle and walkway and has great views.
  • Fantastic, place. A little bit quirky and full of character.

    Andrew2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy and Steve’s house is lovely - full if interesting things and really artistic. We loved having our own little sitting room with wood burning fire and table thoughtfully set out with wine glasses and the fire all ready to light. The property is in a great area either for walking or exploring local towns and villages. We contacted Nancy and Steve very last minute and they were very hospitable and kind hosts.

My place is close to the airport, Saltaire Village and the city centre, great views. You’ll love my place because of It has a meditative atmosphere, is quiet and calm. I can offer vegetarian and vegan options.. My place is good for solo adventurers. I have two cats. I feel I am friendly and hospitable. Please when booking could you give me your reason for staying. i.e work, visiting family etc. It is good to have a general idea of why people are coming. Thank you.
Own bedroom, with view over the awesome back garden. I am very happy to share my living room with you. I have a small bathroom with a good shower because the bathroom is small I do not have a bathtub. The road I live in is a cul de sac, so please be aware when parking, not blocking neighbours driveways. Quiet and kind house.
Saltaire heritage village is very close by. This is a quiet road, neighbours are friendly.
  • Padmasurana is an exceptionally warm hearted and hospitable host. It seemed that nothing was too much trouble for her, from providing breakfast, to making sure the room was warm enough for you, and giving a warm welcome and a friendly departing good bye. She's a great conversationalist, so you should not feel isolated or lonely in her colourful home. Two friendly cats too.

  • My partner and I loved this place! 😊 As soon as we walked in - the place was toasty warm, cosy and snug. We loved that the place had heaps of character with lovely wooden beams, loved the stylish touches that the host had placed in the decor of this bijou. This place was the perfect retreat to escape and we loved that the bed was super comfy too. Overall, we had a beautiful stay here and thank James for letting us stay at his apartment (and even a late check out as well). Would definitely love to come back to this place again 💜

  • Fantastic location, just enough out the way of the bustle yet easily accessible. Cosy and warm. Very homely. Perfect getaway! Loved it!

    Matt2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful and cosy little flat, perfect for a countryside getaway. The heating was great, keeping the space warm even in winter! A great place to stay whether you want to go hiking in the moors or have the convenience of a little countryside village.

    Elspeth2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is really nice, warm and welcoming. Tv with netflix, all the comforts for the kitchen. The only flaw is the cleaning of some dishes and the sink in the bathroom which did not have hot water (the shower instead yes). The apartment is a short walk from the center of Haworth, perfect for visiting the city, there are also many shops and restaurants nearby. Even if the street the house overlooks is totally dark. Overall, however, we are very satisfied!

    Francesca2020-01-13T00:00:00Z

Set in the steep and stunning Luddenden Valley within 13 hectares of beautiful Calderdale countryside, Jerusalem Farm Barn is a barn conversion set close to Jerusalem Farm Campsite and is surrounded by a landscape of woodland valleys and high moorland plateaux. With a welcoming atmosphere and accessibility-friendly facilities, Jerusalem Farm Barn is a perfect place to enjoy the local nature reserve, which provides a safe haven for woodland birds, woodpeckers, herons and deer.
Jerusalem Farm Barn was created with people with accessibility needs in mind. The barn is fully accessible for wheelchair users and has facilities including a hoist which runs from the bedroom to fully accessible en suite bathroom and profiling bed . With its own extensive network of footpaths, Jerusalem Farm Barn also makes an ideal base from which to access the wider countryside, which is largely protected for its breeding bird population and can be easily accessed by foot or push bike through an extensive and well marked network of public rights of way. The camp site and the spacious grassy areas below the barn are also accessible by wheelchair. Situated between Halifax and Hebden Bridge, the site is perfect for exploring the surrounding South Pennines, an area rich in both natural and industrial archaeology. The mill towns of Sowerby Bridge and Mytholmroyd (the birthplace of former Poet Laureate Ted Hughes) are nearby, with Hebden Bridge particularly good for day trips, with cafés, galleries and a grand old picture house. Haworth, home of the Brontës, is just a few miles over the moors. "Eureka!", The National Children’s Museum in Halifax (for big and little kids) can be reached in around 20 minutes as can the Grade I listed Piece Hall. The green oasis of Shibden Estate with its park and hall, soon to be seen on TV in the BBC/HBO drama Gentleman Jack. Jerusalem Farm is owned and operated by Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council
Jerusalem Farm is set in the picturesque Luddenden Valley. This community is dominated by small cottages and farms, and has a extensive network of footpaths which included the nationally recognised trails The Calderdale Way and Pennine Way. Two small villages can be located in the Luddenden Valley. Luddenden with Grade II listed Lord Nelson Pub, once regularly frequented by the famous Branwell Bronte, and Midgley which its community run local shop.
  • This is great if you want to get away from it all. Having no phone signal was a bonus as we all talked to each other and played games. We enjoyed nature being literally on our doorstep. Any questions we had were answered very promptly. We are looking forward to returning in the future.

  • Perfect property for my elderly Mum with mobility issues. Also large communal space for everyone to be together, especially liked that the kitchen area was open plan so if like me you end up doing the cooking you don't feel detached from the rest of the party.

  • Fantastic place to stay in a magnificent setting. This is my second year staying here and it was perfect in every way. The accessibility features such as hoist and electric bed made the perfect place to stay even better. Can't wait to stay again soon

Private self-contained studio flat in stone cottage. The space has a double bed, 2 comfortable chairs, dining table and chairs, fireplace with electric stove, central heating. There is a small kitchen area with sink, kettle, toaster, combination microwave/oven/grill and fridge. There is a shower room with wash basin, loo and electric shower.
This is a 'granny flat' located on the ground floor of a family house. It is completely separate from the rest of the house, although it is on the same central heating system. It's got everything you would want for a short or even long stay, with a kitchen and dining space and comfortable seating area. The space is perfect for short or long stays. We offer a discount on stays of a week or more. Check in is after 12 noon, but we can be flexible, contact us if you want to arrive earlier, it may be possible. Check out is 11am, similarly talk to us if you want to stay longer than that.
This is a lovely quiet neighbourhood, it feels like a village on the outskirts of Halifax. We look out over the valley, and are on the edge of lovely woods. We're very close to the iconic Wainhouse Tower and are surrounded by lovely countryside and parks. There is a Tesco within a few minutes walk, and lots of good places to eat and drink nearby, including the wonderful Big 6 pub. If you want ideas about places to eat please ask us. The Tower House Hotel is a very short walk away - handy if you are attending a wedding or event there but don't want to stay at the hotel.
  • Staying at Anne and John's place was so relaxing! I had an entire flat to myself which was brilliant because I needed to get a lot of work done. Anne and John are super kind. They left me to myself but were always available to answer any questions I had. They know loads about the area and are always up for a nice chat. Anne even agreed to let me use her washing machine because I was going to travel on after check-out, which is amazing, not everybody is OK with that. The view is amazing, you can see the entire valley and Sowerby Bridge at the foot of the hill. And the bed was the most comfortable one I've ever slept in. Definite recommendation from me, if you come to Halifax or Sowerby Bridge, stay with Anne, you'll be well looked after.
