  • Beautiful cabin! It was even better than expected. Kim and Scott were very responsive hosts. Highly recommended!

  • Cozy Bear cabin is fantastic! It has become our yearly tradition to escape to the cabin every year for our anniversary. It has become our sanctuary away from home. We love our time spent there. Kim and Scott are great hosts.

  • Wonderful stay!

  • A cozy and secluded cabin next to Lac Gauvreau, perfect for a romantic getaway. We stayed four nights and went cross-country skiing during the day in Gatineau Park. We particularly loved the hot tub and fireplace. Kim and Scott were model hosts, even coming over personally to help us out with a couple requests, and generously greeting us with a bottle of sparkling wine. The kitchen is fully equipped and the king size bed is very comfortable. As it is a cabin, be aware that there is no wifi, and the water from the lake is for showers, dishes, etc only - however, drinking water is provided. It is not a large cabin so I would not recommend more than two people, especially if you have equipment and clothes for outdoor activities. Overall we loved the experience and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a spot that is rustic yet very comfortable and accessible, located next door to beautiful Gatineau Park.

  • Kim and Scott's cabin is exactly as listed. It's super cosy and was the perfect amount of space for my fiancee and I along with our dog Winston. We spent one of our days at Nordik Spa which is just a 25 minute drive from the cabin. Walking along the icy, snow covered lake in the early mornings was the perfect way to start our days too. Definitely recommend this lovely little cabin for a weekend getaway!

  • A beautiful little cabin for 2. It was peaceful and comfortable. An excellent winter place and the hosts were friendly and helpful with everything. Making a fire in the evening was our favourite part. Thank you!

    Sabina2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • They were very nice hosts! The cabin was very clean and they responded right away! I would definitely come back again.

  • Clean, cozy and secluded. My girlfriend and I had an amazing time. Everything we needed was there and Kim&Scott were exceptional hosts. If you’re looking to get away to relax and unwind Kim&Scott’s cabin is the perfect place to do so.

You’ll love the spectacular views, high ceilings, cozy, private atmosphere, and the location itself. A perfect getaway for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids). In addition to the amazing views the lake is the ideal setting for swimming, fishing and water sports during summer and snowshoeing, hiking and skiing during winter months. Water is great for drinking right from the tap.
    Beautiful private lake house.

  • Outstanding Lake house! Fully equipped, very functional and absolutely spotless. The gorgeous views of the lake and coziness of the chalet made our stay a therapeutic one. Snowshoeing on the frozen lake was fun!! And safe! John gave us all the information we needed and ready to help if anything. We definitely recommend John’s Lake house. We’ll be back!

  • Pleasant stay.

    Adam2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location even in the winter months! The fireplace was a cozy touch in the winter and we throughly enjoyed watching the birds feed through the large windows at the back of the cottage.

    Gillian2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • John’s place was everything you would want and could possibly imagine. The home was beautiful and the backyard view to the lake was spectacular. Check in was easy and the home was spotless. Would highly recommend!

  • Beautiful cabin & interior. Great location. Went skating through the forest, which was a 3 min drive away. Lots of kitchen supplies to cook with. We had a lovely time!

  • Very nice place ... lots of nice touches! Go for it!

    Genevieve2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Kaara and Stacy's place was just like the pictures with special little extras to boot. My little two loved the toy selection and hammock. My 4-year-old also told me how much he LOVED the water (it comes from an artesian well and tastes amazing). The view couldn't be more beautiful. When an unexpected problem arose, the owners were easy to reach and quick to send help. Our family of 6 would go back in a heartbeat.

    Trista2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We truly enjoyed our stay at Oslo Hus. The place was very clean and it was great to have small notes perfectly placed throughout the living space to help us. Great location and amazing view! Their chalet is beautifully decorated and feels really cozy.

  • We had an excellent stay here! The cottage was beautiful, clean, and welcoming. The hosts responding quickly to any messages we sent and were very clear about the rules and expectations which made our stay even easier. Very peaceful and quiet, the lack of cell service was not missed at all. A great way to detach from a busy life and just relax and unwind. We loved the view during the day and the warmth from the woodstove at night. We would absolutely stay here again!

    Sean2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place is so very wonderful. Stylish, with everything we could possibly need (though, please do make a mental note that you have to bring your own bedsheets and pillowcases). Prime location, overlooking the lake, and just a few minutes away from the stunning Patinage en Forêt. We loved it!

    Dian2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We are a city/suburb couple looking for a quick road trip with a beautiful space and scenery. We had a great stay here! This area is so peaceful and relaxing. You're required to bring your own towels and sheets but prefer to do this when we can so it's a non-issue for us. This house is very well equipped with everything we needed to make meals and the space is very comfortable. Great recommendations to checkout a nearby town called Wakefeild and the locals were so friendly! We also took a day trip to Ottawa which is about a 45minute drive. If you're going during winter, we highly recommend checking out skating in the forest, it is magical. Great little touches around the home and we appreciated all the little notes around the place! Last but not least, the water pressure in the shower was better than expected which was a great surprise:) Definitely worth the trip out here.

    Mackenzie2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Darlene is an amazing host. Upon arrival, you get the tour and everything you need to know about the place, which I personally really enjoy. The space has everything you need for a great new year get away. With the hot tub being an awesome cherry on top. 10/10 would recommend!

  • Halverson house is a wonderful place to stay. The fireplace and jacuzzi were very cozy in the winter, we also did some sledding. There was a nearby ice skating ribbon as well. The house has everything we could need and more, including a very well stocked kitchen, towels and robes for the spa, plenty of firewood, and some very delicious cinnamon buns. There were also boarg games, books, and movies for more of a quiet night in. The bed was very comfortable, and the house clean and beautiful. Darlene and Kevan were very accommodating, even when we were delayed by snow. We're already planning our next trip back!

    Casey2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Private and charming.

    Kerri2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing place. Darlene is a wonderful host and really takes good care of her place and cares about her guests. Very accommodating. We went in late November, our 2 favourite things were the hot tub and the fire pit. We will definitely book again.

    Mario2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cozy place for a weekend away. Darlene has done a great job of providing everything you might need for your stay plus nice little touches you may not expect but that are so nice to have. The personal check-in was friendly and thorough, and there are clear instructions in the cottage for anything you may need to know. The fireplace and outdoor hot tub are great. : ) Would highly recommend a stay here.

  • We had a wonderful family weekend away at Benoit's home. There is an amazing view from the big picture windows that looks out over the lake and towards the mountain in the distance. We found Benoit's place to be better than the pictures. The open living room, dining room and kitchen are very roomy and comfortable. The kitchen is stocked very well. The walk in shower in the large bathroom was great. Benoit is quick to respond to all inquiries and is very hospitable and welcoming. We stayed at Benoit's in the winter but we can see how this would be a great place to stay in any season. This was our first time at Benoit's and I hope that next winter we might be able to have another little family gathering at his home again.

  • My dog and I had a nice stay. The cottage, especially the yard, was a bit smaller than expected, but it did not really bother us. Unfortunately for us, as it was raining and warm, walking on the lake was not an option and the road was muddy. We still managed to find a trail nearby and were able to go on a small hike, which was nice. That being said, the place is very cute, clean and modern. It has everything you need, the bed is comfortable, and overall, we had a very good time.

  • A very nice stay in the cottage on the water. We were lucky with the weather. Although in late September, we were able to canoe and swim. Warm up in the hot tub is fun. In the house you feel comfortable, it has an original and pleasant features.

  • We had a great time at Gaston’s cottage. It was the perfect relaxing getaway that we were looking for. There isn’t a shortage of things to do...canoeing, paddle boating, hot tubbing or just relaxing on the comfy outdoor sofa. It didn’t take long for the cottage to feel like home. Gaston was very welcoming and showed us everything we needed to know about the property. Would definitely recommend staying here!

    Katie2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • All for nature lover is there. Rely remote. Lake, fishing, biking, hiking and an extra with the spa for relaxing after your day. Tks to Gaston for his outstanding welcoming. I highly recommend this place.

  • My husband, our two children (10 and 8) and I spent a week at Gaston’s cottage in August. We loved every second of it. We did lots of canoeing, paddle boating and fishing. The lake was clean and beautiful. The hot tub was a great added touch. Gaston was a wonderful host. We would stay at his place again in a heartbeat.

    Samantha2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice site welcoming and especially relaxing. Quiet and enchanting, the lake is much quieter than we would have hoped. The chalet is very well equipped, we lack nothing and very comfortable. The cleanliness was very appreciated. what about the spa that we enjoyed too. A very nice holiday. A big thank you to Gaston for his very nice welcome and his quick and professional follow-up. What good words for this beautiful site. Thank you so much !!

  • This cottage is just lovely. Super cozy and well equipped. If you love peace and quiet and nature’s beauty you’ll be very happy there. The lake was warm and we swam a lot. The bay is very shallow so kids are very safe. If you’re not a fan of sandy lake bottoms bring water shoes. There is a paddle boat and a canoe to use. Also some floaties and life jackets are available to use. The lake has so many dragonflies to watch and many lily pads, which were so pretty. The hot tub was lovely and was screened in. At night the mosquitos are around so bring lots of spray and coils to keep them away. Kitchen is very well equipped. Beds were comfy. Gaston is very helpful and his pride in this little slice of heaven shines through!

    Susan2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Gaston is easy going good at communicating and the cottage is wonderful! Very private, beautiful views and a comfy hot tub. Definitely worth a stay!

Kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, swimming to the raft! If you're looking for a spa-like lakeside retreat, you've found the ultimate in Canadian countryside relaxation. • Beautiful chalet, perfectly equipped. The lake is beautiful and the Wakefield area more enjoyable. To recommend without hesitation.

  • Great place , enjoyed the stay with my family , would do it again

    Ziad2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend! Beautifully decorated, very clean, tons of places to sit outdoors ( there's a gazebo and table by the dock in addition to the table on the deck!) The availability of a kayak , canoe, standup paddle board and peddleboat was great for spending hours on the water. The kitchen is also very well equipped which was very convenient :) Definitely plan on returning in the near future :)

  • Nathalie and Andre's cottage was beautiful, spacious, quiet and peaceful and they were excellent hosts. There is plenty of waterfront space and a variety of water activities for all ages. The charcoal BBQ and fireplaces both inside and outside were nice touches. We would highly recommend this cottage for your vacation and would happily go back ourselves.

Come and stay in our magical wooden yurt on 450 acres of pristine mature forests over 5 distinct peaks spanning an elevation range of 300 feet. It is not uncommon to hear the howling wolves in the valley below the south ridge. This is a truly wilderness/wildlife off-the-grid outpost and meant for true nature lovers. Visit us to disconnect your cell and reconnect with nature! Feel free to visit our website for the full story of LeTerrain.land and what to expect from your wilderness experience!
Your experience starts with a 10 minutes walk from the main house where you are welcome to park your car. In the summer and fall seasons feel free to drive your car off road on a simple trail right to the yurt. The yurt is located at the northern end of our 450 Acre land parcel which is surrounded by hundreds of acres of more wilderness. Your drinking water, a cooler with ice, firewood for the wood stove (in Winter, or if needed), and bedding is all at the yurt. All you need is your clothes and food. As mentioned, the yurt is off-the-grid, meaning there is no running water. However, there is a moderate solar power set up which is really just for lights. That said, there is no WiFi or cell reception at the yurt, but you will find reception on any of the 5 peaks on the range. The closest is just behind the yurt and a five to ten minutes walk to the top. Enjoy the WiFi detox and connect with the nature! There is no bathroom, and no kitchen or kitchen supplies in the yurt. However, you will have access to a quaint and well-kept outhouse outside of the yurt. Enjoy the modern BBQ for grilling under the stars. Oh the stars!!! There is NO light and NO noise pollution in our night skies. The stars on a clear night are breathtaking. In fact, we are part of an organization that is working on making this region a Dark Sky Preserve recognized by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. The potential of this facility is vast. We are open to all kinds of group visits and gatherings that include the yurt and its sister cabin (located on Southern ridge about 1 Km from cabin) as well as camping options in the clearings surrounding the yurt. Please feel free to reach out with any questions and proposals regarding your potential stay. We are here to help facilitate your immersion back into beautiful wilderness. If you need special arrangements for late check in or assistance in getting to the yurt, please let us know with your initial inquiry. We will be more than happy to accommodate your requests.
The tiny town of Ladysmith is located ten minutes from our land. There is an extremely convenient convenience store/gas station that sells everything from windows to whisky and the hotel/bar kiddy corner to it serves a fine poutine. This is Quebec yet the areas' unique German/Prussian history finds it mostly English speaking to this day. Our log farmhouse was built by one of the original German settlers to this area.
  • The yurt is the perfect weekend getaway, even in early Spring! The trails around the property are great for an afternoon walk and the yurt has all the basics you need.

  • What an incredible 24 hours to recharge, uplug and connect to silence and nature. Such a special place ... Loved the uniqueness and warmth of yurt, the stars, the land, the howling wolfs at night. Magical indeed! Steve is a beautiful, genuine host and is so proud of his property. We were greeted by big smiles and all the info we needed. So grateful for his kindness from our first communication. Hard to leave and can't wait to return. Loved the look of the new cabin too! Amazing. Thank you!

  • My fiancee and I were looking for a quiet, off the grid, relaxing weekend in nature. This space was exactly what we were looking for. The Yurt itself was really cute and quaint. It had the the essential basics. Steve provided all of the necessities we required and was always available if needed. The area had beautiful snow-shoeing trails that we spent all weekend. Also, our dog loved the space as it was remote and it allowed him to run free and explore along with us. In the Yurt it was extremely peaceful to sit by the wood stove and read our books in the hammock. Overall, a wonderful place to stay and we would definitely return!

    Andrew2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our time in the yurt enormously. Steve had a cozy fire going when we arrived. After the drive from the city, we appreciated the short walk from where we parked the car. The yurt is well equipped with pots and dishes; outside is the bbq (although we cooked our food on the stove), and a cooler as well. We were very comfy on the sofa bed, with lots of pillows. The solar lights are delightful. We were warm, and relaxed completely. We also appreciated the trails as did our dogs and we did some exploring. Loads of deer around and we heard wolves, saw a peregrine falcon and woodpeckers. Can’t wait to go back in another season.

    Ana2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Steve's yurt is stunning; the carpentry is masterful and the space is beautifully set up. Steve made sure that we had everything we needed and went out of his way to ensure that we were comfortable. The forest surrounding the yurt is enchantingly beautiful and we walked on the trails in the back to a stunning lookout. Such a special addition to a winter camping experience! We had an absolute blast and look forward to being able to stay again. Don't miss this place if you want a fun adventure!

    Megn2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely wonderful place. We love everything about this property, from the hiking/ski trails, to the nearby towns , to the night sky. Our dog looks forward to this newly minted holiday tradition of having winter fun at Le Terrain. We've stayed at the yurt and the cabin, and recommend both highly.

    Malcolm2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful place with an extraordinary host. My partner, pup and I absolutely loved our time here and are already excited to stay again. Steve, is a fantastic host who really takes his time to make you feel welcomed. The Yurt its self is beautiful and homey, and honestly very warm haha. We loved the watching the stars at night and listening to the wolves howl at the moon, it was a very immersive experience and a great way to disconnect and relax. Thank you again Steve, and see you soon!

    Jesse2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Steve’s place was great. True authentic off the grid nature experience! Yurt was comfortable and charming. The property was amazing , private and filled with trails to explore. Great lookouts for seeing the fall colors & star gazing at night. Steve was a great host , easy communication and passionate about the property / upkeep & guests experience! We will be returning for sure.

  • This was my third stay at the chalet, this time with some snow! Great winter views, cozy spots near the wood fireplace, along with some peace and quiet.

    Colin2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing experience! The cottage and land was absolutely beautiful! Was the perfect distance from the city just about an hour from our home in Gatineau the area was quite and secluded and we had a chance to use the canoe and the lake was beautiful and scenic. 5 stars for sure and we already booked to come back again next month.

    Michelle2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Martine's place is absolutely beautiful. The location/view is spectacular. The home itself is very clean with a nice large common area. My family and I enjoyed our stay immensely.

  • A beautiful chalet / cottage. Plus the fall colours made the drive in and view of the lake quite spectacular. Yes, I recommend this place, as long as you can handle a steep path from the cottage down to the lake.

The Cabin is near Wakefield, Quebec on the Pine & Birch Ranch & Retreat property amid towering pines in a spot that overlooks our private Pine Lake. With its natural wood flooring offering a comfortable ambiance, the Cabin sits apart from the other houses on our property and features a wood burning stove, a fully equipped kitchen and dinette, a bedroom with Queen bed, and a cute bathroom with a ceramic shower. The yard includes a play area and a pit for outdoor camp fires.
This romantic spot is only thirty minutes from downtown Ottawa and offers couples a chance to get away from it all. There is no internet service and cell phone coverage is fine with Bell but spotty with Rogers or Telus. You will be happy to relax in a peaceful setting. Dogs may be permitted after discussion with host. You have access to a shared beach with any other guests or staff in our other four units.
The Gatineau Hills are a special place with rolling country side and proximity to the Gatineau Park and the Gatineau River. The quaint town of Wakefield, Quebec is only 7 minutes away and offers unique shops and various dining options. We are located in the countryside where various organic farms have sprung up in recent years and offer fresh produce at certain times of the year.
  • Nice place, great for fall walks and to disconnect for a few days. Would recommend.

    Marcus2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Hard not to love this place and the people who own/run it! Todd, Melissa and Irene were all super friendly and welcoming. They even made sure I didn't go hungry :P : Melissa shared her homemade chicken noodle soup and Irene brought me two freshly-laid eggs from the hens on site! Had no issues with the logistics and I got out of it exactly what I was looking for: some peace and quiet, surrounded by nature. I had the chance to: visit/feed all the animals on the land (dogs, chickens, horses and alpacas), run on the nice forest trail, read my book by the tranquil lake, start a nice evening campfire and relax... even get professional massage treatments from Melissa, who put me back into shape! If that sounds like your kind of stay, then Pine and Birch Ranch and Retreat is the place for you! :)

    Greg2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • A great hidden gem. Cute little cottage with wonderful outdoor spaces. We had so much fun playing badminton at the outdoor net and the lake water was clean and good for swimming. Attentive hostess and friendly dogs. Fresh eggs for breakfast! Hope to visit again.

  • Great cottage experience so close to Ottawa. The backyard was spacious and provided privacy. Do take advantage of the trail around the lake as it is very scenic.

    Sheila2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing little getaway. I took my wife for our wedding anniversary and it was everything you could want. A rustic cabin just off the beaten path that's totally private and it's right next to a lake that has a little beach area and a dock. We had our own fire pit next to the cabin and they have wood bundles onsite. As remote as it feels the nearest gas station is about 8 mins. away and the nearest grocery store in Wakefield is about 15 mins. away so you can stock up virtually anything you'll need. This trip did not cost a fortune and was better than most of the one's that did. 5 stars.

    Christopher2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is such a great and unique spot. the little lake is so refreshing and the beach is sandy...so no seaweed! My mother and I stayed in the cabin and really enjoyed the calm and quiet of the area. the walking trail is also great. not too long but a good way to end the day or start it (just watch out for the occasional horse droppings). We also had our dog there who enjoyed being out of the city and meet horses and chickens for her first time! They are great hosts and are still learning what works and what doesn't but they were always at the ready when we needed anything. Cheers!

    Marie-Michelle2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • It is the perfect place for a moment of intimacy surrounded by animals. Activities (canoeing and volleyball) were at the rendezvous. Thank you very nice host !!

Our Pine & Birch Ranch & Retreat property is a special treasure in Canada's capital region, nestled away in the scenic rural countryside of Western Quebec, in the heart of the Gatineau Hills. You’ll love our retreat property, its proximity to Ottawa, its easy access to activities suited for both city tourists and outdoor recreationalists, and its serene privacy – complete with our own private, spring-fed, 10-acre lake. Depending on the season you can swim, paddle or row in our lake.
Our Cottage by the lake is a fully-winterized, quaint, open-concept building with a cozy wood-burning unit and includes a newly renovated fully functioning kitchen and bathroom with soaker tub for two and shower. Our guests love the peaceful location and proximity to the water which is only steps away. PLEASE NOT THAT WE REQUEST OUR GUESTS TO BRING THEIR OWN LINENS (BED SHEETS, PILLOW CASES, TOWELS AND DISH TOWELS. If not we will provide linens for a rental fee of $20 per bed during your stay.
Our 50 Acre property is fully fenced and offers a nature sanctuary of mature pines and other trees for our guests. The quaint town of Wakefield, Quebec, situated on the Gatineau River, is just 7 minutes away and offers both fine and casual dining with a number of restaurants, as well as some unique boutiques for shopping. There are lots of other attractions in the area that we can recommend on site.
  • My husband and I wanted to getaway for a weekend and relax somewhere warm, cozy, and private with our two dogs. This little waterfront cabin exceeded our expectations. Although the water was frozen still during our stay, we enjoyed the woodburning stove all weekend, felt safe and comfortable leaving our dogs in the cabin so we could enjoy a couple of restaurants in Wakefield, and loved how private it was. We really enjoyed having our coffee in the morning out on the little deck, as the dogs played in the snow. There were some nice trails we could walk down as well, and the dogs were off-leash the entire time! We met both Todd and Melissa on-site, and they are both very welcoming, and friendly to communicate with. We would definitely stay again!

    Chelsea2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Todd’s place is perfect for a quiet getaway to recharge. It’s cozy and has everything you need! Next to the cabin is a path around the lake for a beautiful little hike. If you’re looking for quiet and nature and taking a break from life this is the perfect spot - and it still has everything close by if you need something.

    Carmen2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Nestled in the woods on a private property you'll find this cute and cozy cabin. For a weekend escape, it provided a nice little haven surrounded by big pines and a windy snow-covered lake. The provided cookware and dishes are adequate and the lovely reno-ed bathroom is great for a weekend getaway. Be fully equipped for cooking and linen needs as the provisions are a basic level. We enjoyed a quiet weekend for two, and were rescued in the cooking oil department by the lovely property manager, Melissa. With a few more thoughtful touches for the average weekend getaway guest, this would be a 5 star amazing hideaway. As it is, it is comfortable enough and did the trick for our romantic getaway on a cold February weekend.

    Kelsey Catherine2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A warm and cozy cottage surrounded by trees and overlooking the lake. A comfortable and peaceful time. Thank you Todd and Melissa.

  • This is a great place to stay! The cabin is beautifully located next to a picture-perfect lake where you can walk, swim or paddle, and has everything you need for a cosy stay, including a great bath tub. The hosts, Todd and Melissa, are kind, friendly people. It’s definitely worth booking in a massage or a horse ride with Melissa if you get a chance - she is awesome! It’s also really close to the stunning Lac de Philippe - a pristine lake where you can swim and paddle.

    Paul2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • The place itself is very nice and there are very few cottages on the property. It is very private at night but the public beach is basically on your doorstep (though there was only two people that went swimming all weekend). Todd is a great host and very helpful

Beautifully updated loft cottage with large deck overseeing the lake. View the evening stars and the morning sunrise from the comfort of your bed. This cottage offers two kayaks for your use to tour the lake and see all it's beauty. There is a fire pit for evening entertainment and to get the full cottage experience. Picnic table with umbrella and bbq on deck.

They also have an icecream stand. Just 30 seconds past this chip stand is a gas station that also carries an assortment of homemade frozen meals.
  • This is wonderful little getaway. We enjoyed our time in this beautiful cottage in a great location. Lots of amenities, a great view, and and overall great value. I’d recommend staying here to anyone looking for a quiet escape. Oh and David is also a great host. He communicated quickly and effectively. Hope to stay again!

  • We had a great time at Sweet Retreat. There are beautiful views on the lake from the bedroom and deck. We went swimming and kayaking off the dock, and enjoyed bonfires at the fire pit every night. The kitchen is equipped with all the basics, condiments, spices, etc. David and Jen were very helpful and quick to answer any questions we had. Overall a great stay and would recommend their place to anyone.

    Alex2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time ar David's place! The cottage is very cozy, quiet and relaxing. The view of the lake from the bedroom is absolutely amazing! Especially for quiet reading days when it's raining :). We really appreciated the small thoughts such as fresh flowers in the living room! You can get wood from an old man and his wife, who sells it all year long, on the main road (about 1km - 2mins drive before the cottage), they are located less than 500m away from the grocery/corner store.

    Alain2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is really a great spot! The view is fantastic and there’s even direct water access with a dock. The cottage is also stocked with everything you could possibly need. Highly recommend.

  • David’s is a lovely cottage, so well kept and cozy. He left extra touches like fresh flowers and basic food items (coffee!) we swam, fished and kayaked. It’s a very pretty lake and the deck was great for star gazing.

    Katherine2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Yes, you’ll enjoy a stunning lake view from the bedroom windows and deck, but the the winding, wooden stairs to the water’s edge and dock are very romantic. Dave and Jen had fresh linens, tons of towels and basics stocked in the fridge. The internet was good even on the dock and the neighbours were friendly. Tons of value here for the price. Highly recommend.

The cornu manor is a centennial house with a lot of the original cachet of an ancient era. It is the perfect place to relax to the scenery of the Ottawa river and the gatineau hills. - Retreat at Le Nordik Spa - Beach - Kayak - Golf - Hiking to the Luskville waterfall - Quad and snowmobile trails - Ferry to Ottawa - Karting - Sugar bush - Horse chariot or sleigh ride - Fishing (No boat included) - Luskville racetrack - Small fruits and pumpkin picking (Eardley farm)
This property was built in the late 1800 and was originaly a farm. The land is still 3 acres and you have access to the Ottawa river. The doors are still original with old locks and we have kept the original flooring and staircase. The bathrooms were renovated and there is a small studio that will eventually be accessible for additionnal bedding.
Very calm with no front neighbors and the side neighbors are not too close and the river is in the back. Great place to relax, fish, go for a quad and ski-doo ride in one of the many federated trails (daily or week-end passes are sold at a.restaurant 5 minutes away)
  • We really enjoyed our stay the place was like on the photo the communication with the owner is very easy thank you

  • This cottage is very charming and comfortable. As soon as we arrived we were taken back by the beauty and privacy. The inside of the cottage had everything we needed- the beds were comfortable and the place was well kept and clean. I would definitely recommend this cabin to families, friends or a couple looking for some alone time. The hosts were really easy to communicate with, and were quick to respond. Quiet and serene, its a great place to relax and get away from it all!

    Sophie2019-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • I looked for a short stay getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life and found it at The Loon Call. This brought memories of my boy scout days with the perfect amount of 'roughing' it and comfort. Once the fireplace makes the cabin toasty warm choose your comfy seat, put your feet up, sip some spiked egg nog and let your troubles melt away. I only stayed a short time but felt like it was a week as it was so quiet and relaxing. I've stayed in numerous cabins and cottages over the years and this is by far my favourite. No brainer...I'm coming back!

    Andre2019-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Breath taking place, we had a great stay! Perfect for a family to get away from the busy stressful city and relax in this beautiful land.

  • If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city this is the place

    Chayse2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Loon Call far exceeded our expectations, and served as a perfect long weekend retreat for my group of friends. No wifi, no electronics, yet with the comforts of running and hot water, shower, flushable toilet, and a general store 5 minutes away by car. These combined with the homely cottage itself, situated in serene surroundings, provided the environment to detach from technology and connect with the people around you. Blaise and Emma were more than gracious hosts, making sure that everything was smooth for the duration of our stay. Extra thoughtful touches and surprises were in wait for us on arrival. If it isn’t obvious at this point we had an excellent time, and would do it again, if the opportunity arises.

    Henry2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Loon Call is an amazing cottage on a stunning, quiet lake. Cottage life respects the environment, which makes for beautiful wildlife around and enhances your (re)connection with nature. Emma & Blaise are wonderful, responsive and accommodating hosts and they make absolutely sure you get the best experience. We enjoyed every minute of our stay in their wonderful vacation home.

A great place to host small get togethers or family reunions. France was easy to communicate with and provided an easy check in/out policy along with helpful directions to her place.

  • France's home was a wonderful dream to stay at. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed escaping away from the city lights, and soaking up some forest scenery. My family and I had no problem arriving to France's home, as she provided very helpful and clear directions to her place. France's home is beautiful; She has placed thoughtful touches throughout the house, from the cute decor, comfy beds, on-site laundry facilities, to my favourite, the winter equipment (toboggan/sled) we used to have some winter fun in the morning - these things made our stay exceed our expectations. Regrettably, the only downside was that my family and I stayed here for only 1-night. It was too short of a stay, and I would love to return here in the future, with more family and friends, to cozy up in France's home for a weekend of quality time and fun. Thank you France.

    Sara2020-02-18T00:00:00Z

Embrace the unique experience of staying in a guest house located in the country-side of the Gatineau Hills. A cute little guest house nestled on a 7 acre hobby farm. Laying chickens provide fresh eggs daily, and large gardens in the summer provide fresh crisp vegetables. The Guest House has a small walk-in that leads to the main kitchen/dining area. Living quarters are small and ideally can fit 2 people comfortably. Climb up the stairs and the bedroom/bathroom is combined in an open concept.
Love fresh eggs in the morning? We have omega-3 farm fresh eggs daily for $5/dozen. Please send us a message before your arrival if you would like to purchase some.
Brennan’s Hill is a small town with lots of character. Home to a corner store for those last minute items and a family-run bar with a unique boutique attached. A must stop-in for delicious food and a drink before heading down the back road. Low, QC is approx. 8km away. The Trans-Canada Trail is a great starting point for many activities. Walking, cycling, and in the winter months snowmobiling. The Gatineau River boarders the town. Boats can be docked at the local wharf located in Low, QC
  • Great place to relax and enjoy the county side. The guest house was sparkling clean and the bed very comfy! The hosts are super nice and make sure you have everything you need. The quinte little town of Wakefield is not too far a drive. There we enjoyed walking our dog on the small trails that run along the river. I recommend checking out the cute boutique End of the Line where you can find some unique items, some of which are hand made by local artists..The lady working there was so nice and welcoming! We are definetly looking forward to returning this summer with our doggy!

The fireplace was already light on arrival, the fall colours were spectacular and the generous brownies were a lovely surprise.

  • Had a lovely weekend at the cottage. Jennifer was an excellent host and communication was fantastic. It was even nicer than the photos, spotlessly clean and we thoroughly enjoyed the gluten-free brownies! We are looking forward to returning at some point for another weekend of relaxation.

  • This beautiful place is ideally located the quiet hills if you are looking to escape the busy city life. Prepare yourself for quiet evenings under the stars and listening to the sounds of nature throughout the day. There are some great local attractions in nearby Wakefield QC and approximately 45 minutes to Ottawa. The Host/local hostess were very responsive to any inquiries we had. I would suggest planning a stop at the local IGA in Chelsea (enroute) to pick up food etc before you arrive. Once you are there, you won't want to leave!

    Natalie2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a family getaway weekend at this forest retreat and it was perfect. The space comfortable and well equipped and the forest setting really made it feel like an escape from the city. We would definitely stay again.

    Jocelyn2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage which is kept immaculately clean, in the forest where you can walk and just be in nature. Close to Wakefield, which has lots of cute restaurants and a good grocery store. Loved our stay here!

Come and stay in our cozy cabin on 450 acres of pristine mature forests over 5 distinct peaks spanning an elevation range of 300 feet. It is not uncommon to hear the howling wolves in the valley below the cabin. This is a truly wilderness/wildlife off-the-grid outpost and meant for true nature lovers. Visit us to disconnect your cell and reconnect with nature! Feel free to visit our website for the full story of LeTerrain.land and what to expect from your wilderness experience!
Your experience starts with a 15-20 minutes hike from the main house where you are welcome to park your car. We will provide you with a map and additional information. Therefore, please be sure to arrive well before dark and pack lightly. The cabin is located in the heart of our 450 Acre land parcel which is surrounded by hundreds of acres of more wilderness. Your drinking water, a cooler with ice, firewood for the wood stove (in Winter or if needed), and bedding is all at the cabin. All you need is your clothes and food. As mentioned, the cabin is off-the-grid, meaning there is no running water. However, there is a moderate solar power set up which is really just for lights. That said, there is no WiFi however, there are a couple of bars cell reception at the cabin so you can usually squeeze text and email through. You will find reception on any of the 5 peaks. Enjoy the WiFi detox and connect with the nature! There is a bathroom in the cabin with a modern Swedish made Eco toilet as well as a quaint and well-kept outhouse outside of the cabin. The loft is made for two and is a super cozy spot to sleep. There is also a pull-out couch for two in the main room of the cabin. The screened in porch is a gem of a place to spend an afternoon/evening. Have a nap after hiking through the wilderness. Prepare a BBQ while overlooking the valley. Sleep under the stars. We are open to all kinds of group visits and gatherings that include the cabin and its magical sister yurt (about 1km hike from cabin) as well as camping options in the clearings surrounding the yurt. Please feel free to reach out with any questions and proposals regarding your potential stay. We are here to help facilitate your immersion back into beautiful wilderness. If you need special arrangements for late check in or assistance in getting to the cabin, please let us know with your initial inquiry.
  • Steve is a great host, he made sure everything was ready for us. The place is very cozy and the view is amazing like we expected. I would totally recommend this place for a nice getaway.

    Mariana2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Steve’s place is wonderful, and the cabin is lovely in the winter time. Not only is Steve incredibly communicative, he’s also gone above and beyond to make sure our stay was smooth and safe. Our cabin was toasty before our arrival even though there’s a snow storm outside. It’s the perfect place to unplug, unwind, and be in nature completely off grid. I hope to return one day during the summer seasons to explore some more!

    Alice2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for hiking, beautiful night sky, you could hear wolves howling at night, and Steve is a great and gracious host. Thanks for a wonderful winter getaway!

  • This place is amazing if you are looking for a wilderness experience. Steve goes above and beyond to help you make your stay comfortable. He has excellent knowledge of surroundings and helped us to make our trip a memorable one. Look forward to see u soon Steve.. :))

  • This place is UNREAL. After a drive through the most dragonflies and butterflies I think I’ll ever see in my lifetime, my mom and I were promptly greeted by Steve when we arrived, and he most graciously offered to drive our bags up to the cabin so we wouldn’t have to lug anything (my mom is an over-packer of food so we did not pack very light as recommended in the listing-sorry Steve!). After a bit of a hike, we were met with the most spectacular view. It was breathtaking. We diligently watched the forest wall along the valley hoping to catch a glimpse of an animal walk through but were instead gifted with some eagle sightings and the surreal sounds of a wolf pup (or perhaps a coy-wolf) howling! We also heard a moose! We were surprised at the lack of bird sounds with so many trees surrounding us but it allowed us to experience a deafening silence like never before. What a feeling. Once the sun set the crickets came out and so did the stars. WOW. You feel like you don’t have enough eyes to really capture how many you can see (if that makes sense). We enjoyed our evening by the fire pit and it was just so lovely. The morning of checkout Steve and his handsome dog, Inook, so very kindly took us on about an hour’s hike where he showed us some pretty amazing and special things. You feel like you’re part of something so much bigger and we’re so lucky that we were given the opportunity to enjoy it. Thanks a million, Steve! Best of luck with your future projects and what your journey brings you. We were already discussing our return trip on the drive back to Montreal :) Gen & Wendy P.S. Tell Inook we’ll be back with more bacon.

  • Steve’s place was exactly as advertised and his hospitality made it all the more welcoming! I’ll be sure to have his place in mind the next time we decide to stay at a cottage!

    Jeff2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • There are very few places left in this world where you can be absolutely alone in the wilderness with wildlife and no people. This place is it!! Absolutely awesome! And Steve was great and really fun to talk to and hang with for a bit. We will be returning many times!

Our beautiful 4 bedroom lakefront cottage situated in Low Quebec is 60 minutes from downtown Ottawa and 30 minutes from the heart of historical Wakefield for restaurants, shopping and sightseeing. The inside of the cottage is beautifully decorated with plenty of windows providing plenty of natural light. It offers all the amenities of home and the cottage is spotless. The cottage sleeps 9 people comfortably but can sleep 11 as there is a double size futon in the basement. Minimum 5 night stay.
The cottage offers a beautiful view of the lake from the front deck or large dock. Outdoor furniture is provided for dining on the deck or sitting by the water. Swim from the shore as the water deepens gradually as you walk out. Perfect cottage for families and older guests as terrain is relatively flat as cottage is steps from lake. For rainy days, relax and read a book on the side porch. In the evening, enjoy a fireside marshmallow roast at the fire pit.
There is a corner store 20 minutes away in Brennan's Hill that sells food, beer, wine and liquor. Across the road from the store is Brennan’s Hill “Resto-bar” serving cold beer, delicious pizza and amazing pickerel fish and chips.
  • Neil was an excellent host. He gave us good directions and information necessary for cottage living. The cottage itself was more than we expected relating to comfort and conveniences. The outdoor area was fabulous - plenty of space for sitting or tanning. The water was clean and easily accessible for our young granddaughter.

This open-concept home with modern/rustic decor is on a 1 acre lot tucked at the edge of Gatineau Park with easy access to all it has to offer. Features a detached guest cabin. The artsy village of Wakefield is a beautiful 30 minute drive away through Gatineau Park.
It is a modern house built on top of a pre-exisiting log cabin that you can still see from the front porch. It is very open-concept and would be ideal for a rockband wanting to do a songwriting retreat, a couple utilizing the entire space, two couples who would use both the main house and the guesthouse, parents with their children or a getaway for friends who plan on having a weekend of outdoor activities in gatineau park and dine together at the expandable table that can seat up to 12. Musicians are allowed to use the musical instruments. Small collection of inspirational books are available. Large work desk upstairs facing the windows. The bedrooms are semi-private lofts but there are several privacy screens available for use. There are 4 outdoor cats that are not allowed in the house. Someone will take care of feeding them at the carport.
The Pontiac itself also has many other great outdoor attractions to offer such as zip-ling over the falls and canyon in Fort Coulonge. Also highly recommend a hike up the Luskville Falls, an 11 minute drive. Gatineau Park has numerous lakes, lookouts, natural wonders and paths, and in the winter many paths are maintained for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Downtown Ottawa is 45 minutes away down highway 148, that has great views of the gatineau hills and the Ottawa river.
  • We loved our stay in Richard's magnificent home. He was a very welcoming and helpful host. Nothing was missing, everything was there and tidy. The premises were very clean and peaceful. We only used the bed on the ground floor, which was comfortable, with a beautiful view of the forest. The cats were not a nuisance and it was even an entertainment to see them walking around the house. We highly recommend it!

  • Wonderful place! We had a wonderful New Year's week with family.

    Bernard2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • My family loved this beautiful cottage that offered a very serene location where we could view the beavers and all kinds of wildlife. The open concept of the cottage was great as we were able to be together at all times. The ping pong table and foosball in the basement was a definite success with the kids. The windows all around the cottage made for a beautiful scenery. We do plan to return during the summer.

  • gorgeous - idyllic - magical. this spot is a hidden gem in the Quebec woods. the pictures are nice but don’t do the place justice as much as the live experience does. large open space with smart layout and stylish decor, make it very comfortable for 6 people. patio view of the lake is stupendous all day but especially in the morning. house is secluded and quiet and has a private dock which makes this cottage a real find if you need to get away from it all. Seema was a joy to communicate with. very chill. we’re coming back!

    Michèle2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Had an amazing time at the cottage. Lots of things on hand to use, everything we needed for our stay. Had enough kayaks for everyone to enjoy. The lake view was beautiful and great for swimming and fishing. Great indoor and outdoor living spaces.

    Nasir2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great family vacation. The cottage was very well equiped, from kayaks and a paddleboard, to the trampoline and kids toys, to a large selection of dvds and boards games.

    Trevor2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! The photos didn’t do it justice. A beautiful little cottage, well laid out with comfy beds and lovely pillows and linens. Plenty of space for teenagers and kids to not get on each other’s nerves!! The hosts were welcoming and easy to communicate with. They gave excellent details and arriving at the cottage was stress free. The lake is beautiful and this cottage definitely has the best swimming dock. The lake is small but has access to a larger lake for a bit of an adventure, kayaks are provided for everyone in the family. We had rainy weather on and off and enjoyed the fantastic array of indoor games and activities. Great reading materials for all ages and movies to curl up to. I have not one negative thing to say, a superior experience!

  • We had a wonderful time at Cynthia’s cottage. We only booked it for one night as we were in town for a wedding, but no one wanted to leave! It is beautifully decorated and they have everything you could need. The sun room in the back and water in the backyard offered beautiful views throughout the day. It is spotless clean!! The beds are warm and cozy and no one had a single complaint. Recommend this place 100%!

  • Nice sandy walk in bottom to the warm clean lake, great paddle boat and canoe and kayak. A full child’s wooden play centre , great porch to hang out for meals and reading. Overall even better than the pictures. We will be repeat renters for sure! A peaceful paradise.

  • Absolutely beautiful cottage. Everything was better than I had expected. Very clean and organized. You’re right on the water. Perfect for a family vacation. It’s your home away from home. And the hosts were fantastic. Would definitely book this place again.

  • Our two families with young children loved our stay at Canoe Cove. The home was much larger than expected and beautifully decorated. Everything you could need was provided. Cynthia was so easy to communicate with and very helpful. Unfortunately we stayed during bug season so it was difficult to enjoy the outdoors but we did our best. Took full advantage of the beautiful screened in back room. We definitely hope to stay again!

A Beautiful custom handcrafted log home on 100 acres of mature forest. Walking/cycling/ski trails all private and mapped. Small lake/pond is a short walk with dock for swimming/sunning and a row boat for paddling. Gourmet kitchen with concrete countertops, Aga cast iron cook stove with 4 ovens and large island is a cooker’s dream. Large screened in porch and games room in basement with quality slate pool table. And to top it all off the entire house is powered by the sun!! Asbsolutely stunning
You get the entire house, the furnishings and it’s surrounding land. All 100 acres of it.
It is a large single log home in a totally private setting. With hills and woods and nature all around. With your own small private lake/pond a short walk from the house. This body of water is more of a natural/ wildlife area with a small swimming area not a large lake traditionally thought of at a cottage. We do have free passes to access the Gatineau park lakes just minutes away where a more traditional beach/ lakeside experience is available. Very near the park and all that it offers and 10 minutes to Wakefield Quebec, a very cool little town with shops, bars, art galleries and restaurants. Corner store is 5 minute drive.
  • This place is amazing! Had such a fantastic stay. Andre is helpful, easy to get in touch with, and a great guide for the area. If you want a getaway in the woods with all the comforts of home I highly recommend staying here!

  • What good to say about this experience at L'Hermitage! A little haven of peace in the middle of the forest! The host is attentive to our needs and very available to answer any questions. Even with three families, no one is cramped. The house is large and so warm. I highly recommend!

  • Beautiful log home in a perfect setting. Wonderful hosts!

    Nicole2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really great weekend in Andre's place. The space is so cozy and the property is huge. Lots of walking trails and a really fun toboggan hill. Thanks again for a great stay!

    Sydney2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The Hermitage is a lovely outdoor winter setting, with beautiful ski trails through the forest, toboggan run... a real paradise. The house is really well equipped. The host, Andre, is absolutely fantastic. You should realize that this house is entirely off grid, solar powered and while perfectly comfortable to live in, you can’t run small appliances that are heat producing for extensive periods. The Aga stove is a wonderful appliance- like a giant slow cooker, with 4 ovens at the ready, at different temperatures. Andre took the time to explain its use to us. We figured out how to best utilize it- for example we’d put a stainless steel pot of water in the 200 degree oven so that when we needed a lot of boiled water for our big group, it only took a minute on the stove top to bring the water to a full boil. All in all, I can’t recommend the Hermitage La Peche enough. We were a multi-aged group and everyone had a great time- young children, parents, grandparents and puppies! We’d love to return again in the winter- or any season for that matter. Thanks so much for all of the time you spent making us feel comfortable Andre.

  • Our second stay at this place. Again, impeccable cleanliness, well equipped with towels and cutlery, tranquility of the place, warm welcome and precise explanations on arrival. We also really appreciated the various sleds available to slide on the slope.
