Places to stay in Eagle River

Places to stay in Eagle River
Private entrance to a spacious 2nd floor guest room & private bath (as well as a screened-in porch and first floor parlor), set in the quaint, picturesque lakeside town of Eagle River. Just out the door is Lake Superior, a sandy beach, river gorge, waterfall, sunsets & stargazing. No added cleaning fee.
This spacious and pleasant space will sleep 1-3 people. It is in an historic home that was built in the 1860's. In the past, the home was a boarding house, "Grandview." The guest room has three large windows that face the lake, with enjoyable lake breezes during the summer months. A private bath is across the hall, just off the bedroom. The bedroom is set up with both a double and single bed (to sleep up to three, or for extra sleeping space for restless sleepers.) We are confident that our guests will find this a comfortable and enjoyable place to call their temporary home. We have accomplished much in the 20+ years that we've owned the home...and the restoration goes on. A variety of recreational activities are available for all ages and skill levels. Explore the history of the area, or experience biking on beginner to world-class mountain bike trails. Hike, kayak, stroll the beaches, agate/rock pick, or simply relax in the natural beauty of the area. We are an easy drive to the dock for the "Isle Royale Queen" in Copper Harbor, which transports visitors to and from the Isle Royale National Park. Winter provides abundant snow for downhill and cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. We are ideally located just 16 miles from Mt. Bohemia and 30 miles north of Mt. Ripley/Michigan Tech. You will find "Grandview" a welcoming place to return to after a day of adventuring or an hour or so of relaxing on the beach.
Eagle River is a small lakeside town. Taking a short walk to the beach with your morning coffee is a beautiful start to the day. Eagles can oftentimes be seen scouting for their next meal near the mouth of the river. The town has three bridges, the historic Pratt Pony Bridge, over 100 years old, is just out your front door, and provides a spectacular view up the river gorge and down to the mouth at Lake Superior. The Eagle River Falls is just a very short walk up the street, across from the Township Hall (which houses the Eagle River Museum on the 2nd Floor.) Lake Superior is magnificent, and forever changing--offering up everything from soft and serene sunsets, to wildly crashing waves. There is more than enough to see and do here in Keweenaw County to pack an itinerary full of adventure and sight-seeing. But, if you'd prefer, you can just kick back, relax...and simply enjoy being here.
  • We loved our stay. The house was warm and comforting, a perfect escape from the cold outside. Our room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. Kathy’s assistance finding fun things nearby for us to do as well as her delicious breakfasts were the highlights of our stay. Looking forward to visiting again.

  • Charming 1800s home with original character—loved the view and the location. Kathy is a top notch host!!

  • We enjoyed the location, and the house was very comfortable with a parlor and a fireplace where we enjoyed sitting. Kathy went above and beyond by picking us up along the highway when our truck broke down on our way - at least an hour drive for her. The location is right next to Fitzgerald's on Lake Superior, one of our favorite restaurants.

  • Would highly recommend Kathy’s AirBNB; her hospitality and attention to detail were outstanding. We would definitely book again.

  • Kathy’s place is amazing. It’s super clean, quiet, the view outside the house is beautiful. Convenient to restaurant, to the lake, ski place...and the best part is that Kathy made the worlds best oatmeal. We would recommend Kathy’s place to all our friends.

  • Kathy was a wonderful host, and her guest suite was very cozy and homey. We loved sitting by the warm fire after a day in the snow. I have never been up to the UP before, and I was pleasantly surprised with how pretty and quaint it is. I definitely recommend staying at Kathy's if you find yourself over there! 10/10

  • Super convenient for Mount Bohemia and just down the street from the best restaurant in the Keweenaw Peninsula. From the English muffins and coffee to super comfy beds. Just book it! Thank you Kathy!

  • Great location close to the lighthouse and within an easy drive of other area points of interest, but Eagle Harbor provided some quiet solace right on Lake Superior. I appreciated all the tips and recommendations from Carol and Barry-communication with our hosts was excellent. The cabin was well stocked and worked perfectly for our needs. We really enjoyed our stay!

    Amy2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • The location of the cottage was perfect for our weekend. The space was cozy and was perfectly adequate for our trip, during which we spent much of the time out exploring. Amenities were fine and as described. There was an emergency with the water supply for the cottage, and Barry and Carol immediately attended to and fixed the problem; we were not affected at all. They were really wonderful hosts and we appreciated the local tips. We were glad to meet them and to have had the opportunity to be their guests!

Our hosts were kind, and we were provided with everything we needed during our stay. It was a perfect place to call home during our time in the upper peninsula!

  • This place is a quaint cabin-like space that allows you room to relax, refresh, and cook, but not be overwhelmed with a huge house. Easy driving distance from Copper Harbor and Eagle River. Gorgeous views of Lake Superior- be sure to check out the sunset at the overlook near the lighthouse. Overall, a wonderful place to be!

Carefully restored 1850's lighthouse. Stunning interior opens onto an amazing four season sunroom and wraparound deck with panoramic Superior views. Steps away from miles of Lake Superior beach, ATV/snowmobile trails, top notch dining at the Fitz, and Eagle River Falls. FYI: Rentals from June 15-August 31 are weekly only. Click an available Saturday on the calendar and the week will light up. Eagle River Lighthouse is absolutely unique in its history and presentation. It was commissioned by the US Government to guide ships along Lake Superior's Keweenaw coast. Built in 1855 completely of red stone, it housed the light keeper and his family. The light was decommissioned in 1909 and the property sold into private ownership. Today its history is surrounded by tasteful modern amenities. The entire first floor opens onto the deck with views of Lake Superior and Eagle River. Lounge in the living room or the four season sunroom. The large gourmet kitchen comes fully equipped for enjoyable meal prep. Everything is included for a comfortable stay. All you need are groceries and a relaxed state of mind. Eagle River is a charming historic village on Lake Superior. Walk the beach, gaze at the stars, ride the ATV/snowmobile trails or simply unwind. Exploring the rest of the Keweenaw is easy. Within 30 minutes, you can be pedaling world class mountain bike trails in Copper Harbor, skiing double black diamonds at Mt. Bohemia, kayaking Bete Gris or hiking deep into the woods on trails for all experience levels. The house comes loaded with guides, books and suggestions on all there is to enjoy in the Keweenaw.

This 150 year old house is situated near Lake Superior in the sweet town of Eagle River. At one end of the street is Eagle River Falls, at the other end, Gitchee Gummi camp. It is like stepping back in time. The roof has recently been replaced, and next is a fresh coat of paint after cedar shake repair. Then new windows, but one step at a time. Most people are enjoying the area during work hours.
I have tried to create an allergen free space. Pets are not allowed for this reason. The wooden staircase is steep, as you would expect in an old house. The kitchen is equipped with cookware, spices, and coffee maker.
There are no grocery stores nearby. If you want to shop, Calumet has a grocery store. The area biking trails are fantastic, from Copper Harbor, to Swedetown trails in Calumet, on to Hancock’s Maasto Hitto trails, then Michigan Tech trails in Houghton. You can find a riding adventure for any skill level, and I can point you to a guide.
  • Great house. Jenny is an excellent host. Very clean and cozy with a lot of nice touches. Beds were comfy and the kitchen space is great for socializing while cooking.

  • Great location! House was clean and cozy. Would definitely return in the future.

    Julie2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • My family and myself attended a wedding and Jennifer opened her lovely home. The location was perfect to where we needed to be. It was wonderful to wake up to fresh apples and pears. The lake was less than a minute walk and close to a beautiful waterfall. The house is well equipped with everything that you need which made our stay perfect.

    Jasmine2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Jenny's! It was clean and had everything we needed, including comfy beds!! The easiest check-in and check-out I've ever experienced. Eagle River is a great little town in the heart of the Keweenaw serving as a great home base for our trip.

    Erica2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • My sister and I greatly enjoyed our stay at Jennifer's place. Comfortable beds, reading lamps everywhere, unique furnishings, many special touches. We hope to be back!

  • Jennifer’s house is in the perfect spot to explore all of the Keweenaw peninsula. We loved our time and had so much fun.

    Matt2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Spacious old house which has been renovated and decorated in a delightfully eclectic style. Two large bedrooms, one small bedroom, and the bathroom upstairs. Sitting room, dining room, laundry room and kitchen downstairs. And a lovely front porch for sitting and enjoying the breezes. I imagine fall colors would be spectacular. A very quiet and relaxing location. Jenny was very easy to communicate with, and checked in to make sure we were comfortable and had all we needed. She had provided cookies, apples, yogurt and milk for us. Lake Superior is a short walk (about a half mile) down the hill. Eagle River Falls is just up the street. We would happily stay here again.

You are looking for peace and quiet. We have it! My cozy home is nestled in 40 acres of woods: oak, fir, maple, cedar, birch. You are more likely to see a deer in the yard than a car passing by. The night skies are often dark enough to see the Milky Way and the occasional shooting star. Come to the the northern woods and let your cares fade away.
Homey, cozy, and quiet... my house is nestled in the woods. I like warm, soft lighting and a simple cottage decor.
This is the northwoods at its finest! Your neighbors are the trees, the animals, and the stars. An easy, picturesque drive can take you to: -Hancock/Houghton 25 minutes -Copper Harbor 45 minutes -Mt. Bohemia 30 minutes -Calumet 10 minutes -Gay 20 minutes -Porcupine Mountains 120 minutes -Lake Superior beach at the Gratiot River 15 minutes
  • Bottom line, I would highly recommend you stay here. Daniel was extremely personable, and very hospitable. He has fascinating taste in decor, and the place was very clean. The the room itself was good, and the bed was very comfy. If I venture this way again, I will most likely return (as long as there are the correct amount of people, of course). 6 stars!

  • Daniel’s place is not only conveniently located close to Mt. Bohemia but also many other parks and nature reserves. It was the perfect spot for two people to stay on a short trip to the Keweenaw to enjoy the outdoors. Daniel keeps his home very clean and organized. His kitchen has all the essentials you may need if you plan to prepare your own meals. He is also willing and excited to provide tips and suggestions for local attractions. Daniel helped make our trip memorable and enjoyable! We arrived at his home to find a Keweenaw shaped chocolate bar in our room and woke up every morning to a pot of coffee ready to brew. If we are ever in the area again we will be sure to look Daniel’s home up for a welcoming place to stay!

  • This is where you will find your respite and so much more. I felt like I walked through the Wardrobe into Narnia. I had so much fun exploring the wilderness in the snow. Daniel's home is the perfect place to come home to after being out in the cold. You'll find his cabin in the woods to be warm and cozy lit with candles and a glowing woodstove. I highly recommend his place!

HARBOR PINES IN EAGLE HARBOR SLEEPS: 2 BEDROOMS:1 BATHROOMS:1 *RENT 1 CABIN OR ALL 4 TOGETHER Harbor Pines- In honor of the wonderful pines in the area and the glorious breeze that comes in off of Lake Superior which, along with the Light House, are right out the back door! This is a one bedroom that has two twin beds. Harbor Pines also has a bathroom with a single shower, a small kitchen area that includes ONLY a mini-fridge, a microwave and a coffee pot. A message from the owners: “At the turn of the century, our great-grandparents emigrated from Scandinavia and settled in the Keweenaw Peninsula not only building a new life for themselves but literally building many of the churches, schools, stores and homes in the area. Of course many childhood memories include swimming in Lake Superior, picking thimble berries, grilling fresh-caught fish and watching for bears and wildlife in this magical place. We fell in love with these 4 cottages because they belonged to the original Lake Breeze Resort in Eagle Harbor. Built in the 20's, this resort had 15 cottages that sat on “The Hill” overlooking the harbor. As time went on, some of the cottages were sold and we now find ourselves lucky enough to own four. Frequently Asked Questions Beach: The beach is just a short walk across the street. This beautiful sandy beach is perfect for swimming, and even has an old-fashioned slide! Beach Chairs: Each cottage has beach chairs, beach bags, and a line to hang up your beach towels outside! Bed Layout: 2 twin beds Cable: Yes, there is cable! Cell phone service: Cell phone service is generally unreliable in the U.P. Fishing: There is a water spout and hose attached to the home, which is convenient for cleaning your fish. Fire pit: There are NO fires allowed at the cottages, but down by the beach there are fire pits available for your use. Grill: Charcoal grill. There are also grills at the park. Parking: Very limited, 1 car or truck. If you have a trailer you can park it down by the light house. Pets: Sorry, pets are not welcome. Picnic Tables: There are picnic tables near for everyone to enjoy. Privacy: All four cottages are right next to each other. Swimming: Swimming is definitely recommended at the beautiful beach down. There are rafts available in the cottage for you to use. TV's- There are new TV's in every cottage. Washer & Dryer: There is not a washer & dryer at the property. There are 2 laundromats in Calumet (30 miles south), and so many things to do, see and eat while you wait for your laundry. Wi-Fi: Yes there is Wi-Fi. LOCAL ATTRACTIONS: Copper Harbor Attractions: Copper Harbor is a town that is a short 14 miles away from the cottages. In Copper Harbor you can find some very unique places that are a must see while you are in town! The Brick House- This is a microbrewery where you can find all of the finest craft beers in the area! The Haus- Authentic German food that you must try! The Bakery- Freshly baked goods are produced here every day. The General Store- Across the street from dining is where you will find an old fashioned general store that has a gas station as well. State Campground- Historical sightings where Indians once were. Eagle Harbor Attractions: Eagle Harbor Restaurant- Come to this very delicious restaurant where you will find the freshest fish and the coldest craft beers! Gift Shop- “The Gem Store” is the perfect gift shop, especially for anyone who is a rock hound. Great Sand Bay- Similar to the Traverse City “Sleeping Bear Dunes”, you will get this feel here! Just a short 3 miles away. Lighthouse- The lighthouse is just a two minute walk! There is a historical museum and a gift shop that also provides a huge observation deck where you go up the steps to sit and watch the freighters go by. Playground- In the middle of the village, there was an old fire station turned into a huge playground for kids with picnic tables and grills. Houghton Attractions: Houghton is a short 30 minute drive and there is an airport in the area where you are able to rent a car. This city is on your way up to Eagle Harbor and is where we suggest buying your groceries and anything you may need for the property! There are also gas stations here as well. Michigan Technological University (MTU): Just 30 Minutes south of the Eagle Harbor Cottages. These cottages are an ideal way to give your student space while you enjoy the gorgeous Keweenaw Peninsula!

  • Clean, cute little cabin on the edge of Lake Superior.

    Stephanie2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Very attentive and communicative. We had an issue with the WiFi when we arrived (normally wouldn’t be an issue but we lacked cell service in the harbor). The team responded quickly and was able to get it fixed for us. They followed up to make sure it was working for us. They had a binder filled with local tips and info. The cottage was super cute, very clean, and well stocked with towels and sheets. They offered laundry area (we didn’t use) and beach chairs that we didn’t expect- very nice touches. The cottage was a perfect getaway for our sister trip! Would recommend and stay again if I’m back in eagle harbor.

My place is close to Lake Superior, the Fitz restaurant, the jam lady, many historical monuments trails, waterfalls, swimming holes, and many other things.brockway mountain provide one of the greatest views around 40min. Drive northeast, great views. You’ll love my place because of It's got a real home feeling. It's been our families camp for many years. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).
Located at 4993 west main st. Eagle river mi,49950 This is a three bedroom house master bedroom overlooking Lake Superior w a queen bed. Other bedrooms have queen and bunk beds are on kind of a squeaky frame. All bedrooms have linens and extra linens in master bedroom closet. Full bathroom upstairs stand up shower. Dining area also over looks Lake Superior, kitchen includes oven, microwave, toaster and coffee maker, kitchen has dishes pots and pans, silverware everything needed. Fire place in the living room which also overlooks Lake Superior has wood to feed it out out the porch feel free to have safe fires. Our home is a camp though so it is old and not perfect we don't have Wi-Fi we don't have cable we have an old tv w a dvdplayer and a lot of dvds to chose from. Lake is a 5 min walk away. Check in is 2pm check out is 11am.
I love that our area is right on Lake Superior largest fresh water lake in the world.

  • John provided fantastic accommodations and it was exactly what we were hoping for a relaxing adventure on the opposite end of the state. We had one small question early in our stay and he was very quick to get back to us. The lake view was perfect and the sunset a couple of the nights was spectacular. We also timed the vacation for the Perseids meteor shower and the dark sky did not disappoint. We weren't big fans of the food we ordered right up the street at Fitzgerald's, but that was hardly John's fault. The beer menu was very good, however, and I did like the poutine as an appetizer. Our meal at Mariner North in Copper Harbor was better in my opinion and less expensive for what it's worth. We also packed a cooler full of our own food and it definitely helped with the overall cost of the trip as well as the hassle of finding eating options in a sparse location. The fridge/freezer are cold and stored everything perfectly. Overall it was a great stay and we appreciate John giving us everything we needed for a comfortable experience. We also apologize for our dog picking the small red chair just past the kitchen as her own instead of her dog bed a couple nights and getting hair all over it. Thank you for a week of escape and paradise.

  • Great view of the lake. This house is full of cool nic-nacs and old engineering books. A great place to stay for 4 engineers on a motorcycle trip. Be careful most cellphones will not get signal in this area. Make sure to back up or offline mode anything you will need during your stay!

    Andrew2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to stay, would not change a thing about the place, probably the coolest house I’v stayed at in a long time, it was kinda like going back in history. Rustic feel for rustic people.

    Sijing2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Just beautiful. The pictures don't do it justice. The backyard leads all the way down to Lake Superior (no houses or other yards to walk through), waterfall around the corner, adorable downtown, and the drive up to Copper Harbor (if you please) is breathtaking. John was a perfect balance of chill up north host while available if needed.

  • Don’t let the secret out, but this is the perfect home base location for a group snowmobile trip! Not far from the trail and more of a “home away from home” than your typical hotel in the UP. Plenty of room for a group of four looking to have their own space at the end of the day too. Great hosts - highly recommended!

    Jonathan2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • We rented here for a ski trip to Bohemia. The location/price was perfect. Just a short walk to the Drift Inn was a blast after a long day of skiing. The house was very clean and Rob made directions/communication easy. We would recommend staying here!

  • Love the fire place and the views! Great cabin feel for a weekend full of skiing!

    Amelia2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location with ample space. We vacationed with a friend and his family and everyone had plenty of privacy.

    Kristen2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We booked the cabin for our annual dads Bohemia ski trip. Now that our kids are old enough, many of them joined in as well. We’ve been skiing in the UP at least once annually since 2008, and have stayed in a lot of different locations, from trial side lodging to dumpy motels to vacation rentals and Airbnb’s. The consensus was that this place was by far better than any place we have ever stayed on previous trips. Tastefully decorated with updated decor and amenities. Rustic knotty pine and hardwood floors. The nonslip carpet pads on the staircase were a very nice touch. Large private bedrooms, two full (clean) bathrooms, washer/dryer, nice kitchen with plenty of pantry space, internet capable of keeping six teens and their phones happy, games, good movies on DVD, and even a Roku hooked up to the TV! Clean linens and towels were provided. Extra blankets in every closet! Lots of kitchen supplies. We were a little concerned that the space would be too small to accommodate all of us, but there was room to spare. Plenty of sleeping space for just about any group if you bring a couple of cots/air mattresses.

    Nicholas2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing home away from home for a trip to Mount Bohemia! Plenty of space for a large group to spread out and unwind after a long day on the slopes. We look forward to returning.

  • Fantastic cabin. I would definitely stay here again and hope to do so soon. The extra special touches and thought into making you feel welcome was appreciated. Plenty of space for everyone to have a room. The view was spectacular and the sunsets amazing. The cabin was exactly as described.

    Philip2019-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • We went up there for my graduation; I never expected the cabin to be this amazing; it’s right next to a waterfall and you can see the lake from the front porch. Very close to a famous restaurant “The Fitz” up there and lots and lots of adventure. If you’re looking for a calm relaxing place. This is the place to be.

  • The location itself is secluded, but you are staying on the host’s property with their house right next to you. It was still private and completely separate, but like other reviews stated a little surprising. Other than that it was amazing. Top notch inside and out. Everything was there from pots and pans to tv and DVD player. Even an electric can opener. The unit itself was gorgeous and clean. Perfect place for a couple to get away in the Keweenaw.

    Thomas2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great place right on the lake, super secluded. The owner's home is right next to it but still felt like we were in our own little world. Perfect escape for a mental reset.

  • I booked this place without looking at how far it was, come to find out it was a 12 hour drive! Every second of that 13 hours was worth it for this destination! It is absolutely stunning; sitting right on the edge of the lake and you can hear the waves in the cabin. If you're looking for a beautiful, private, secluded get away.. this place is it and do much more!

    Kaley2019-12-01T00:00:00Z

  • This is by far the best Airbnb I have stayed in. My husband and I got to spend our one year anniversary admiring Michigan’s U.P. Fall colors and lakeshore. They gave us our space and the hospitality was great as there was parking, a cute welcome pumpkin, pitcher of cold water, brochures/books about the area etc. Brad’s place offered a fully functional and stocked home with all the essentials (salt/pepper/olive oil/lotion/shampoo/hair dryer etc). We were able to slow down and felt cozy and right at home in the space. We spent our evenings watching the sunset with wine in hand. Thank you so much for a glorious stay, we will be back!

    Rachel2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place to stay, highly recommend it. It is right next to the owners house which we didn't expect but turned out just fine. Still had the privacy we were looking for. Beach is gorgeous.Everything you could need is available, really was perfect!

DOC'S INN SLEEPS: 4 BEDROOMS: 2 BATHROOMS: 1 *RENT 1 CABIN OR ALL 4 TOGETHER There are 2 bedrooms, a full bathroom, a full kitchen, and a large dining and living room space. Doc's Inn- This cottage was built for a regular Lake Breeze guest. He was a physician who traveled with his chauffeur, so the house was built with two bedrooms; the larger for the doctor and the smaller for the chauffeur. The magnificent stone fireplace was built by Louis Ozzie who also built the fireplaces at the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge. A message from the owners: “At the turn of the century, our great-grandparents emigrated from Scandinavia and settled in the Keweenaw Peninsula not only building a new life for themselves but literally building many of the churches, schools, stores and homes in the area. Of course many childhood memories include swimming in Lake Superior, picking thimbleberries, grilling fresh-caught fish and watching for bears and wildlife in this magical place. Frequently Asked Questions: A/C: no central air. A cross-breeze usually keeps it a nice temperature. ATV's: Best to leave those home. No trails close by and no parking for a trailer. Bathroom: A full bathroom (shower/tub combo). Beach: The beach is just a short walk across the street. This beautiful sandy beach is perfect for swimming, and even has an old-fashioned slide! Beach Chairs: Each cottage has beach chairs, beach bags, and a line to hang up your beach towels outside! Bedrooms: Bedroom #1: has a queen bed Bedroom #2: has a full bed. Bugs: The typical mosquitos, flies, ants. Cable: Yes, there is cable! Cell phone service: Cell phone service is generally unreliable in the U.P. Though, we have found that Verizon works well here. Distance: Copper Harbor Attractions: Copper Harbor is a town that is a short 14 miles away from the cottages. In Copper Harbor you can find some very unique places that are a must see while you are in town! 1. The Brick House- This is a micro brewery where you can find all of the finest craft beers in the area! 2. The Harbor Haus- Authentic German food that you must try! 3. Jamsen's Fish Market & Bakery:- Freshly baked goods are produced here every day. 4. The General Store- Across the street from dining is where you will find an old fashioned general store that has a gas station as well. 5. State Campground- Historical sightings where Indians once were. Eagle Harbor Attractions: 1. Eagle Harbor Restaurant- Come to this very delicious restaurant where you will find the freshest fish and the coldest craft beers! 2. Gift Shop- “The Gem Store” is the perfect gift shop, especially for anyone who is a rock hound. 3. Great Sand Bay- Similar to the Traverse City “Sleeping Bear Dunes”! Just a short 3 miles away. 4. Lighthouse- The lighthouse is just a two minute walk! There is a historical museum and a gift shop that also provides a huge observation deck where you go up the steps to sit and watch the freighters go by. 5. Fire pit: There are NO fires allowed at the cottages, but down by the beach you can make your own fire with driftwood and/or logs others may have left behind. You can also purchase wood bundles at the General Store in Copper Harbor. Grill: Gas Grill and charcoal grill available. There are also grills at the park. Grocery: Get them in Houghton, MI on your way up to the cabin. 30 min drive from the cabin. Internet: Yes, there is Wi-Fi. Linens: Yes, we provide your sheets and linens. Just like a hotel, the beds will be made for you upon arrival. If you are fussy about the thread count of your sheets, just let me know, and I'll make sure we leave a bed open for your sheets. We have just the basic sheets, pillows, pillow cases and bath towels. Parking: Very limited, 1 car or truck. If you have a trailer you can park it down by the light house. Pets: Sorry, pets are not welcome due to allergies. Picnic Tables: There are picnic tables near for everyone to enjoy. Privacy: All four cottages are right next to each other. Space: 1 story home, cozy feeling. Swimming: Swimming is definitely recommended at the beautiful beach down the way. There are rafts available in the cottage for you to use. Towels: Yes, we provide towels. It's always good to bring extra though. TV's- There are new TV's in every cottage. Washer & Dryer: There is not a washer & dryer at the property. There are 2 laundromats in Calumet (30 miles south), and so many things to do, see and eat while you wait for your laundry.

  • I can’t say enough about how much we loved Doc’s Inn! I would highly recommend this place or any of the Freshwater places for an excellent vacation spot. From the housekeeping to the online customer service, everyone was superbly fantastic. They were so accommodating with our last minute adjustments not to mention the place was sparkling clean and they thought of everything down to the smallest details. Would definitely stay again!

  • The road to the cabin at the Tioga falls is muddy and horribly maintained. Once you get there it is well worth the troublesome drive. The cabin is perfect. It is comfortable and warm. We easily used the wood burning stove and we were cozy and loved the sound of the rushing water. Be sure to walk the surrounding trails.

The House on the Hill is perfect for families looking for a peaceful place to relax in Eagle Harbor, Michigan. We are one of very few year-round cabin rentals in the area with in floor heating. The cottage, perched high on the lighthouse ridge overlooking the harbor, is only a short walk to the beach. Step onto the front porch and soak in the beautiful south facing views of the surrounding mountains and sparkling harbor waters. Recently remodeled with top end appliances and has a wood fireplace.
A great-room designed, private cottage including one bedroom with a queen bed, a open living area, loft bedroom, brand new - fully equipped kitchen, walk-in-closet/bathroom, and covered front porch with fantastic views. This cottage is ideal for a family with children that can safely climb a ladder - kids love the loft!
The cottage is located on a private drive, walking distance to everything in Eagle Harbor. Perfectly located!
  • We spent a great long weekend at Rodneys cabin. The place is spotless, and very cozy while still having modern touches. Fully stocked kitchen. Everything we could have needed was there! All in a great location with views of Lake Superior, and a quick drive to Bohemia. Rodney left us great detailed info about the house, and was quick to respond. Can’t wait to come back!

    Kat2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This place is all you need. Plenty of room to sleep and a very nice redone kitchen. You can hear the power of Lake Superior from the deck and it is just a few steps away. So cool

    Luke2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Rodney for allowing us to stay at your place this past weekend. The cabin has been updates and well maintained. It fit all of us with ease. We definitely enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and eating in front of the fire place. Sorry for the bacon smell. We even had a mad game of Michiganopoly in front of the fire. We somehow managed to lock ourselves out of the cabin and the kind people at the Eagle Harbor Inn took us in until someone was found to unlock the door. What a great community. We even hiked out to the lighthouse during a break from the snow storms and explored the ice/snow covered beach as well. Great cabin in a great community. Less than 25 minutes from Mount Bohemia.

  • Everything we wanted and more. Stayed for a week and didn’t want to leave. Great location, amenities, and overall appeal. Hope to return for the same trip next year!

  • Rodney's place is cozy and has an awesome view of lake superior. 5/5 would stay again.

  • Love this cabin! Beautiful location, awesome fireplace and great memories! This was our second time staying and we hope to be back again. The cabin has everything you need and more! Thanks for a great stay!

    Angel2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was our third stay at the House on the Hill and just one of multiple stays at Rodney's Eagle Harbor properties over the years. The House on the Hill is a fantastic cottage with a wonderful location on a bluff over the harbor. It's a unique property that has been thoughtfully designed for a great stay. It has windows all around, a completely modernized kitchen, a cozy open living area with a fireplace, and a small lofted area for a couple of kids to sleep in. There's a large communal table at one end for meals or games, surrounded by windows. Rodney is an excellent host, very attentive to requests or issues. You will not regret your time at the House on the Hill!

Plus the home is fully stocked of all you could need. Don’t let mention of the snowmobile trail access throw you though, the home was completely quiet. Absolutely loved it! These cities are also convenient places to stock up on groceries etc on your way up. There is also the charming town of Eagle River 3 miles up the road with an excellent restaurant, Fitzgerald's! For downhill skiiers, Mount Bohemia is 19 miles away and they also boast the Log Cabin Bistro with delicious wood fired pizza! Snowmobilers can jump on the trail 3 miles away!
  • Fantastic stay, amazing scenery right out your door on Lake Superior. Sauna was perfect too! The owner responded almost immediately with any questions we had. Excellent skiing at mount Bohemia (25 min drive) and snowmobiling all over the place. • This place was super spacious and on a great property. My friends and I had a fabulous time boarding at Mt. Boho, this house was the perfect place to retreat to afterwards. The sauna was absolutely amazing. Joni was kind and responsive. Definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a spacious and clean place!

    Lela2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the place to celebrate the New Year with family - the place has an amazing location in the forest right on the shore of Lake Superior - beautiful views are guaranteed. The place is huge and had everything we needed, very clean and close to many amazing local places to enjoy - we rented snowmobiles in Calumet and enjoyed food and views at numerous local spots (Lac la belle, Eagle river, Copper Harbor, Calumet etc.). Note, there was WiFi, yet we had no cell reception on both At&t and T-mobile. The hosts were amazing, quickly responding, flexible, offered to clean up the driveways and walkways after the blizzard. Would definitely recommend! Thanks! :)

Centrally located in picturesque Eagle Harbor, perfect for any season is our extremely spacious, lovely 4 bedroom home. Steps to the sandy beach, surrounded by gorgeous fall colors & fabulous snow mobile trails, 20 minutes from Mount Bohemia! All the comforts of home.
This has been our family vacation home for generations and you will absolutely enjoy all the comforts of a home as well as lots of local art, most done by my Dad. It's pretty impressive and just a wonderful location, area and home.
This community of homes is so special. Lots of beaches, rocky shoreline to explore, tons of history, and wonderful people and nature.
  • This is the third year our group has stayed in this house while skiing and enjoying other winter fun in the Keewanaw. We love it! The common space is large and great for several people to share. Close to all sorts of great outdoor ativities. Can't wait to come back next year.

  • Raeanon's house is a beautiful historic Victorian in Eagle Harbor, very near to the beach, and lighthouse. The location is very close to Copper Harbor, local mines, and beaches around Lake Superior. It is a rock hunter's dream in the summer. The house is spacious with 3 bedrooms up with bathroom, and one master bedroom down. The backyard is a calm place to just sit and look at the sky at night or enjoy the sun during the day. I highly recommend Raeanon's place for summer or winter enjoyment. Tom and Ava G.

  • Clean, quiet, and friendly people.

  • The cottage is very comfortable, and the harbor/ sea side decor is so charming! But the location and the community around Eagle Harbor was by far the best part.

  • Great location! Clean facilities! Loved the laundry on site! We will definitely be back!!

    Barb2019-08-23T00:00:00Z

  • Nice little venue, great for a few nights, with more than enough to do in the area. The space is super clean and if you plan to picnic away and not cook "at home," the lack of a kitchen is no big deal at all. A lot of nice decorative touches so it feels homey and warm. Staff/support is friendly and efficient. Would rent from this group again without hesitation.

    Eagle Harbor, MI, United States

Our house sits right on Lake Superior, atop a lava rock cliff, on the "Gold Coast" of Eagle Harbor. The living room, dining area, and kitchen have a breathtaking view of the lake that includes the lighthouse and harbor entrance. There are two bedrooms, one with a king bed and one with a queen, each of which have lots of closet space. There is also a smaller room off the entry way with a bunk bed. Sand beach, 5 minute walk, restaurant 10 minute walk. Copper Harbor & Mt. Bohemia 20 minute drives.
If you are looking for a cozy, natural setting to read, write, or just relax, with a stunning view of the world's largest freshwater lake that can be taken in via our wall of windows in the living room or the deck just beyond, this is it. High adventure also awaits via a 20 minute drive to Copper Harbor or Mount Bohemia. The Keweenaw Peninsula is loaded with rich history from its heyday as the world's center of copper mining. Much of the peninsula has been designated a national historic park, where one can find a rich treasure trove of turn-of-the-century architecture and other artifacts, and many interesting residents who keep the Keweenaw's rich spirit burning brightly with the many different museums, tours, and social clubs they maintain. If outdoor adventure is your interest, the Keweenaw also has some of the best boating, hiking, mountain biking, snowmobiling, downhill and cross-country skiing between the Rockies and the Appalachians. Eagle Harbor is one of the more tranquil lakeside towns on the peninsula. In the summer, one hotel sells ice cream and the other has a very nice restaurant and cozy bar. There is a sand beach with a raft for those who love to swim Superior's clear waters. In winter, the ice in the harbor can change by the hour. Whatever season, the shifting view from Freshwater House's back windows or deck often reveal Lake Superior in one of her many awe inspiring moods. Copper Harbor lies 14 miles east along a scenic lakeside highway. There, you can find a microbrewery, several restaurants and gift shops, kayak and mountain bike rentals and tours, and a trail system that has made Copper Harbor one of the top five mountain biking destinations in the United States. Mt. Bohemia, perhaps the most chellenging ski area between the Rockies and the Appalachians, is a 20 minute drive to the Southeast. Bohemia also has a modern spa with hot tub, cold tub, steam room, and sauna, and summer paddleboard and kayak rentals. If you are looking for a little access to modern American, 35 miles to the southwest is Houghton, where one of the nation's best engineering colleges is surrounded by shopping malls, chain restaurants, a cinema, etc.
A sand beach sits about 200 yards west of the house. An agate beach sits about 200 yards east of the house. The center of Eagle Harbor, where you can find a ball yard, basketball court (with balls), and playground equipment is about a ten minute walk. The Eagle Harbor Inn, which serves lunch and dinner, and has a small friendly bar, is about a 12 minute walk. The marina, where one can park a boat for a fee (paid to the state), is a mile drive around the harbor. Copper Harbor is a 20 minute drive to East. Mt. Bohemia is a 20 minute drive to Southeast. Snowmobile trails connect Eagle Harbor to the rest of the Keweenaw.

  • A great get away, cozy spacious company mining house with all it's charm. Sparkling clean with all the amenities and linens one could want with laundry and garage, not far from tourist attractions and minutes from Calumet. We felt very comfortable with sleeping accommodations and kitchen, dining room and living spaces. Upstairs (14 steps with good railing) bedrooms slept 5. 1.5 baths a real plus. Toured the Keweenaw during our two week stay. Excellent communication and hospitality.

    William2019-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • The house was nice and clean and had everything that we needed. Located very close to the ATV trail. 2 car garage was great to store our side by sides in at night. Communication was great, and unlike most of the rentals I have had in the past, they actually live in the area. Most hosts live hundreds of miles away. Very central location to visit sites north of the bridge. Would definitely stay here again!
