The neighbourhood is picturesque, steeped in history & very safe (since the English Civil War of the 1640's was concluded!) Please just ask for any recommendations of places to visit during your stay. Chastleton House is a mile away & described as the finest example of a Jacobean Country House in England. • Pamela was super accommodating of our uncertain arrival time, and the self-contained AirBnB is modern, spacious, thoughtfully maintained and of course set in an absolutely beautiful area of the Cotswolds. Highly recommend!

  • We had another really enjoyable stay at this property. It is rural, cosy, and equipped with everything you need, including a few special touches! It is very clean, and we had no issues with anything. We hope to stay again in the future.

  • Pam's place was wonderful! Her house and her rooms were pretty. She took us to the neareat bus stop in the morning and picked us up in the evening. What is more, she helped us book the nearest pub and the taxi for the last day. Our travel to Costwolds becomes memorable with this airbnb stay!

  • Pamela's place is a super spot to stay in the Cotswolds, near to loads of beautiful towns and villages. The house is lovely and comfortable, and we found it full of thoughtful touches such as homemade bread and freshly laid eggs. Highly recommended.

This 300 year old cottage has an abundance of period features, is comfortably furnished and well equipped. There are 2 double bedrooms +single fold down guest bed and a child's cot. The beautiful village of Kingham is just a 30 minutes from Oxford and 90 minutes from London Paddington.
The village was voted "England's favorite village" by Country life magazine and by the Sunday Times newspaper, as one of England's best places to live and most fashionable place to live in the UK, it has its own station with services in to London Paddington (90 mins) and Oxford (30 mins), there are two great traditional pub's/restaurants in the village, the Michelin star Wild Rabbit pub was voted pub of the year 2015 by the Michelin Guide and reviewed by the Daily Mail as England's poshest pub. The Kingham Plough is an award wining gastro pub, reviewed by the late AA Gill, the former Sunday Times food critic....." the kitchen is a serious restaurant work place. The bar menu is as fine as any Ive seen, any one thinking of opening a local pub restaurant should come here and see the gold standard ". All are within a short walk from the cottage. Also near by is the renowned Dailsford organic farm and spa. The village is surrounded by beautiful countryside, great for long walks and being the very hart of the Cotswold's, close to many places of historic interest.
Great little village, nestling in the very hart of the Cotswold's, one of England's areas of outstanding natural beauty and historic significance, there is a local village shop/post office, were you can get cash back over the counter, 3 great places to eat or just have a drink, all have nice outside spaces to enjoy in the sunshine and log fires, lovely village green with small play area and public transport. SO A CAR IS NOT ABSOLUTLY NECESSARY.

Not a country cottage so no low ceilings, dark rooms and draughts..just well insulated and thoughtfully designed cabin with large windows to take advantage of the views. Definitely not glamping either as full facilities. Not located on a picture postcard street, just in large garden at end of quiet cul de sac but with main road running behind cabin. No struggle to find parking as ample space in own courtyard. Priced so I can afford to include all the little extras that guests value.
Visiting on own or as a couple then enjoy Super King bed but easily splits into twins. Space in bedroom for cot and single folding bed or double inflatable mattress available for use in Sitting Room. Might be a bit cosy but great if only for a night or two. I have furnished in shabby chic style but with quality items all repurposed to create comfortable but functional environment. Love this quote left in visitor book "You close the door behind you and you've entered a secluded little retro world" You want a bit of peace and quiet well that is relative as most of my guests are escaping town life so find it very tranquil and scarcely notice road that runs at back of property. Others notice at first but soon realise view is more of a distraction especially when dining alfresco or enjoying the stars due to village Dark Sky status. Do remind guests that will need a torch when walking back from excellent Red Lion as no street lights. Having family members with disabilities I am aware of problems finding suitable accommodation so have designed with that in mind - not the complete set up but Octogenarian wheelchair bound friend stayed and he and wife found perfect for their needs. No sumptuous cottage garden - I'm the gardener so have to be realstic. Managed to save a few mature trees during build process in 2015 and much new planting that will be magnificent in couple of years but in meantime my natural border does include grasses and thistles as after all a weed is only a plant in wrong place and bees and butterflies love. Also have bird feeders and nesting box just outside bedroom window and blue tits particuarly love. Have thought about privacy carefully as their are occupants in main property but layout has been thought through to ensure everyone has own space without infringement on others enjoyment. Have had usual trials with IT but now have cabled connection to router and reliable service. Though most of my guests seem to really enjoy 'turning phones off' and listening to late Aunt's eclectic vinyl collection on multi media player. Similarly there is a TV but not dominant plasma screen just one discreetly tucked into corner. Have had guests for long term stays so always happy to discuss options if you need a base while working away or if between house sales.
Little Bulpits (field for Bulls) was Old English field name of field before development and hence unusual name for this property. Long Compton is a charming Cotswold Village located in Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and excellent walking area (MacMillan Way). On A3400 with Oxford and Stratford on Avon both 20 miles. The Rollright Stones are located on edge of parish. There is a well stocked village shop 5 minutes walk away and popular village pub 10 minutes walk. Local towns are Chipping Norton, Moreton in Marsh and Shipston on Stour. Whichford Pottery, Cotswold Distillery and Hook Norton Brewery located in neighbouring villages. Oxford, Stratford upon Avon, Chipping Campden, Stow on the Wold, Daylesford Farm Shop, Blenheim Palace and Compton Verney Art Gallery are both within half an hours drive
  • Lovely venue, good base to visit places.

  • Elizabeth’s house is very warm and clean. She is so kind and thoughtful, leaving breakfast ready, shampoos and creams to use. She also helps the environment by allowing guests to separate and recycle their trash (sorry for figuring it out late). Would recommend it in a heartbeat.

A cosy Shepherd Hut, named Ronald, set in 60 acres of tranquil Cotswold countryside. Glamping at its finest with all the comforts of home in the great outdoors. Conveniently located 5 minutes drive from Moreton in Marsh, with direct train links to Oxford and London. Durhams Farm is home to over 30 much-loved horses and ponies. Horse riding experiences are available whilst you stay. The perfect location for couples, adventurers and equine enthusiasts.
Camping may not be at the top of everyone’s list during the winter months but Ronald is a very reasonable alternative. We’ve kitted him out with hot and cold running water, heating and electricity too, so you can relax and enjoy all of the comforts of home, in the great outdoors. Ronald has a comfy fitted double bed, with storage underneath and all of your bed linen and towels are provided. The kitchenette is stocked with crockery and cutlery, a kettle, an electric single hob, toaster, fridge and sink. There is private seating outside your hut with beautiful views surrounding. Great for stargazing and the sunsets at the farm are beautiful. During the winter months, radiators will be added to keep you warm. There is a heated shower room a short walk (25metres) from the Huts in a blue cabin. Here, guests have shared (max 4 guests at any one time) access to a shower, WC and sink. Ideal for couples, friends and solo travellers! We have two huts available at Durhams - great for group trips! Apologies, we do not accept bookings for young children (under 10) and/or pets. Wifi is not available in the Hut but can be accessed on the farm all day. Visit the riding school reception to connect your device.
Our Shepherd Hut is set in a stunning part of the Cotswolds within easy reach of picturesque towns such as Bourton on the Water and Stow on the Wold. Stratford upon Avon, Cheltenham and Warwick are both within a 40 minute drive. There are miles of bridleways and footpaths to explore in the surrounding area and some great local pubs and restaurants. Daylesford Organic is 3 miles away too and well worth a visit whilst you stay.
  • Something different! We had a really special time and I was surprised at all the amenities that could fit into a small place but still look stylish and minimalistic

    Georgie2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and my partner stayed in “Ronald” and I can’t recommend it enough! Parking was plentiful, check-in super easy, the amenities were clean and everyone around the site was very friendly. It was a little muddy on the yard so take wellies in rainy weather, but the hut itself is very cosy, warm and safe, and had lots of thoughtful touches such as blankets, hot water bottles and even little games to play when we were indoors. We got to wake up to stunning views over countryside and of Chastleton house, and the farm has plenty of animals to see! Really enjoyable couple of days, thank you 😊

  • Great little cabin for a weekend's writing!

    Mark2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely stay, as described completely, was lovely and warm when we got there. Little touches such as tea bags which we forgot, thanks for having us! Take wellies!

    Caroline2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing stay at Ronald. The hut was so well equipped. Really clean and in such a pretty location! Highly reccommend!

    Naomi2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Ronald was just what I needed for a quiet weekend in the countryside! Sparkling clean, quiet and a lovely little haven. Can’t recommend enough.

    Catherine2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Small and cosy hut in a field next to a farm and riding centre. It is winter and I went with my toddler but it was so warm. Little portable stove, fridge, kettle and toaster were great to cook on. We arrived at night and woke up in the morning to pretty view of fields and the sound of ducks, chickens and guinea fowl running around. Lots of outside space to play though it was too wet when we were there. Best thing for us was popping into the horse riding centre 30m away and having a couple of little rides for my kid (additional cost) The guys were brilliant and it was lots of fun. I’d definitely come again! Bathroom is in the horse riding centre but v clean and private for the 2 huts. Take a torch and wellies!!

We also loved the local pub, The Chequers, which was only a few minuets walk away. Salee’s place was also clean and good value for money. Highly recommend!

Chipping Norton, better known as "Chippy" by locals, is a well-known market town in the Cotswolds which has been runner up in the Great British High Street awards for small market town for the last two years. Once the site of a Norman castle, the town is the highest in Oxfordshire and has a number of notable buildings to visit. The Town Hall proudly marks the days when the town was a Borough. It was built in 1842 and used to host the poultry and butter markets on Wednesdays, as well as the Corn Exchange. It was also used for entertainment and auctions and lucky visitors may catch a glimpse of a bride and groom as the hall is licensed for weddings. A picturesque row of traditional Cotswold stone cottages can be found in the town which were once almshouses given to Chippy by puritan Henry Cornish. The almshouses are set back from the road and are entered through a grand archway which has elaborate finials and cresting. Another standout building is Bliss Mill. It dates back to the 1870s and was once used in the manufacturing of wool and tweed for cloth manufacturer William Bliss. The mill was designed to look like a country house, but has the large chimney at one end for which it is recognised. It is now a Grade II listed building and was converted into luxury apartments in the 1980s. Being a relatively small town, it comes as a surprise to many to find a theatre in Chipping Norton. The team put on an array of productions including theatre, music, comedy and the annual pantomime. As well as live performances, the theatre also screens a range of classic, art house and foreign language films. Food & Drink As one of the main market towns in the Cotswolds, Chipping Norton has a wide variety of places to eat and drink, catering for most tastes and budgets. The list below is a small sample, to give a flavour for the various options available: Wild Thyme Restaurant (www.wildthymerestaurant.co.uk): Offering exciting modern British food and relaxed friendly service, complemented by three stylish rooms, this is a special place to enjoy great food and wine with family and friends. The Chequers (www.chequers-pub.com): The Chequers was built in medieval times at the entrance to the market place and is thought to date back to the late 1500s as a pub, when it was identified by a sign of a blue anchor outside. The main bar is situated amongst four seating areas. In the absence of any electronic games machines, pool tables or juke boxes, the traditional pub styling of yesteryear is recalled. A blazing log fire in the winter creates a cosy atmosphere. There is also a separate restaurant area. Whistlers Café Bar & Restaurant (www.whistlersrestaurant.co.uk): The owners of Whistlers are passionate about food and passionate about entertaining. Open during the day as well as for evening meals, Whistlers has a range of breakfasts, through to lighter snacks and lunchtime treats, as well as a great range of hot drinks and cakes to help you while away the hours. Café Le Raj (www.cafeleraj.net): A contemporary Indian restaurant, where top quality ingredients and fragrant herbs and spices are used to create sumptuous dishes. Chipping Norton also has many food shops, ranging from small, family run places, to a Co-op and a Sainsbury's.
  • Beautiful cottage with very thoughtful touches, including breakfast supplies and a lovely homemade cake for us on arrival. Would highly recommend!

  • Garden Cottage is charming, pristine clean and has everything necessary for a comfortable home from home stay. The cottage was cosy, warm and welcoming and I loved the wood burner. Communication with Alison was immediate and she contacted me shortly after my arrival to make sure that all was well. Using the lockbox was straightforward. I didn’t have any difficulty finding a space in the residents car park. I have no hesitation in recommending this cottage.

  • All in all fabulous!

    Denise2019-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • The house felt more like a home, warm, full of all the essentials you would need. The decor was cosy and country, perfect for a break in the Cotswolds. The location was perfect with a short walk to most sights and pubs. The hosts were fab and only to happy to help. Parking was only a 2min walk from the property and everyone was so friendly. We enjoyed spending time in the house as so warm and homely. 2 sofas to make watching films and drinking wine very easy. Thoroughly recommend!

  • Small cottage in a quiet location, the cottage was precisely as described. We knew to expect only one bathroom. A short walk to central Chipping Norton communication was great.

    Ashkhan2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A great cottage in a perfect location near the centre of Chipping Norton. The cottage has been renovated to a high spec, with really good facilities, great little kitchen, good bathroom and even a useful utility room. The rooms are all a good size, and the beds comfy! If over 6 foot, You will need to watch your head when going into the bathroom and bedrooms, and the stairs are a little awkward to come down as the beams are quite low at the bottom. There are great finishing touches throughout which are really lovely to see and made our stay really enjoyable. It's just a short walk to the Theatre and lots of pubs/restaurants and take-aways. We had no trouble parking outside each night, but you do get a permit to park in the premier inn car park which we didn't ever need to use.

    Caroline2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Smithy was the perfect cottage for us - a lovely, welcoming place to stay, spotless and with everything you needed to hand. It was in a great location for easily walking to the shops and pubs of Chipping Norton, but also well located for beautiful walks into the Cotswolds countryside.

    Nick2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, perfect location. Charming walks from our doorstep. Sweet thoughtful touches like fresh flowers. Couldn't speak higher of it.

    Katherine2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in this lovely house in the centre of Chipping Norton. It had great extra touches such as fresh milk being provided for us so we could have a cup of tea on arrival. There was a coffee machine and plenty of tea facilities provided. Local facilities were good with a nice pub just a short walk up the road and there is also a Sainsbury’s within a short walking distance. The house has WiFi available and a smart TV. There was a main bathroom upstairs with a bath and good overhead shower, plus the downstairs toilet. Dependent on arrival times (we arrived on the Friday evening when the locals pubs and restaurants were busy), you may need to drive around for a while looking for a suitable parking spot as there are no dedicated parking options for the house. However if you avoid arriving at peak times there should be plenty of nearby parking available. A great stay in a lovely village and would definitely return!

    Sophie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • What an incredible place for a few days of relaxation. I always look for beautiful interiors and Emma’s place ticked all of those boxes. The building itself is stunning but Emma has decorated the place so beautifully. My boyfriend and I wanted a few days away and we’re so pleased we chose The Loft. We had everything we needed and Emma was excellent at communicating and ensuring we had everything we needed. Directions were clear and the brownies were a great welcome treat! We will definitely look to return at some point - thank you so much for having us!

    Gemma2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend! We fell in love with The Loft just as much as the beautiful surrounding areas. It really did make the perfect weekend away and I wouldn’t say no to going back. We felt very cosy, safe and at home in this gorgeously designed Loft - it instantly took our breath away and made leaving very hard! It had absolutely everything that we needed, and the architecture was an added bonus. It was something a little different from the norm, yet still held a comforting and warm atmosphere to it. If you’re looking for a peaceful, homely break with plenty to do during the day, this is absolutely ideal!

    Bethany2020-02-10T00:00:00Z

  • All your home comforts, set in a very chic barn conversion, makes for a delightful countryside getaway. Tom (the owner who lives in the main house across the way) was very welcoming, and very knowledgable about the local area. The downstairs is a particularly lovely space, with a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, and a very comfortable living room with doors that open onto a great outdoor patio and garden. If we had had a little more sun across the weekend we definitely would have given the BBQ a go! The large bedrooms are complimented by en suite bathrooms, both of which have been done to a very high standard. We will definitely be back!

Voted "England's Favourite Village" in 2004 by Country Life magazine, Kingham is a beautiful, unspoilt Cotswold village, with a large open green and some elegant stone and thatch cottages, mostly dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is situated in the Evenlode valley, a short drive from the well known Cotswold market towns of Stow-on-the-Wold and Chipping Norton. There has been a church on the site of St. Andrew's Church for at least 900 years, although the present building is a mixture of ages. The font is 13th century, the Perpendicular Gothic tower 15th century, the nave roof is dated 1774 and the rest of the church was remodelled in 1851-3. The church also has a fine old rectory, built in the 17th century. Kingham has two highly regarded pubs, a village shop and is just a mile away from Daylesford Organic, which is well known for its organic food, cookery school and spa. Kingham is also the only village in the Cotswolds that is served by a main line railway station, which provides regular services to London Paddington station. Food & Drink Kingham is fortunate to be blessed with two of the best village pubs in the whole of the Cotswolds, as well as a welcoming hotel, and is just a mile away from the well known Daylesford Organic Farm: The Wild Rabbit (www.thewildrabbit.co.uk): Owned by Lord and Lady Bamford, and described as "the poshest pub in Britain", the Wild Rabbit has been totally refurbished and boasts a total of three real fires in its dining room and separate bar. The menu reflects the seasons and celebrates everything that is great about local produce. All ingredients are carefully selected for their quality and are organic, where possible; The Kingham Plough (www.thekinghamplough.co.uk): The Kingham Plough has established a well deserved reputation as an outstanding dining pub and has deservedly been recognised by numerous awards bestowed by various different bodies. The modern British food is inspirational, not your ordinary Gastro-Pub menu, where everything is prepared from scratch by a team of skilled chefs. Headed by chef-owner Emily Watkins and head chef Ben Dulley, the menu offers an exciting take on English classics. The kitchen is dedicated to making the most of the carefully sourced local ingredients and everything from the charcuterie to the baked beans in the award winning breakfast is proudly made by hand. Kingham also has a village store, selling a wide range of everyday products, including fresh items, beers, wines and spirits, groceries and confectionery. • A relaxing setting in a beautful part of the Cotswolds. The living space is comfortable and makes relaxing very easy, the beds are also very comfortable and the propery is very clean. Two pubs within walking distance, we visited both and had great food in both.

  • Very centrally located in Kingham and very charming. The house is small and the ceilings in the bedrooms are quite low, but overall it was everything we needed. Nice heated floors in the bathroom.

  • Really lovely little cottage, ideal for 2 people! the location is amazing being just a stones throw away from some great pubs, and Daylesford Farm. The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.

A hidden gem in the heart of the charming Cotswold market town of Chipping Norton, this is a newly refurbished country cottage built in the 1840s with an open fireplace and wood burner. Several pubs serving excellent food and real ales all within a 5 minute walk. Following a recent sympathetic refurbishment, the cottage boasts historic charm combined with country chic. Maple Cottage comprises a new kitchenette/living/dining area/2 bedrooms and family bathroom.
The cottage is packed full of character features such as original beams and wood burner, with a relaxed, cosy country atmosphere. Upon entry to Maple Cottage, you will find yourself in the open plan lounge, with new kitchenette housing an electric hob, oven, fridge and fully equipped kitchen. There are two sofas around the wood burner (logs provided) and a TV with DVD/Freeview and chromecast. To the right of the kitchen is a table with 4 chairs for dining – 2 foldable chairs can be found in the utility for extra persons. The utility room comprises a microwave, new washing machine & dryer, and a dishwasher. On the first floor there is a twin bedroom with two single beds complete with reading lights, and a family bathroom with bath, electric shower, and shaver point. On the second floor you is a large second bedroom with king size bed and TV with DVD/Freeview. A travel cot is also available for babies. The property boasts a small courtyard at the rear of the cottage, with a patio table and 4 chairs. With sun throughout the day it’s ideal for lazy afternoons and evenings. Free WiFi is available throughout the cottage. Note that one of the sofas in the lounge converts to a sofa bed, allowing for 5th person **additional fee**
The cottage is located in a quiet “mews” just off New Street, the road that links this beautiful market town to many other villages. Known as the gateway to the Cotswolds, Chipping Norton is a traditional market town with many excellent country pubs – Chequers, Blue Boar, The Fox, and Bitter & Twisted to name but few. All of these establishments can be just off the high street and a short 5 minute walk from the cottage. There are a couple of grocery stores as well as a home bakery just off the main square. All are conveniently located for every day essentials. If you fancy a quiet night in without having to cook, why not try one of the take away establishments in the town. We are really spoilt for choice here. There is a large gated park situated at the bottom of New Street; only a short stroll for kids to enjoy the swings and slides etc. It's ideally located to explore the immediate area. Blenheim Palace is only 10 miles away, with Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold all within a 10-15 minute drive. Cheltenham is also easily doable. There are many stunning walks through the countryside. An easy circular walk passing from Chipping Norton to Over Norton and back 2.5 miles (4km), as well as a 6.5 mile (10km) walk across gently undulating countryside from Chipping Norton to the villages of Salford and Cornwell and back. Please let us know and we will provide you with a downloadable map.

The Barn is a pretty Cotswold-stone building in a quiet village. A great base for relaxing & visiting the Cotswolds, Oxford, Blenheim Palace or Bicester Village. Just 5 minutes drive from the historic market town of Chipping Norton, with plenty of shops & relaxing coffee stops. The village pub is 5 minutes walk. In winter a log burner makes it cosy. There are footpaths 'from the door' and great mountain & road biking too. We love welcoming UK and international guests & business people.
There is a small kitchenette area with kettle, toaster, fridge and microwave but no oven or hob. We provide several types of tea and ground coffee as well as cereals, fresh milk and bread or Hot Cross Buns to help you start the day. The Barn is a detached building with its own entrance. Whilst The Barn dates back to the late 1700's, it's been fully renovated and is light and airy. In the summertime, you can pin back the french doors to enjoy sitting in the sunshine. You'll be staying in a wonderful rural location but with great access to many interesting, historic and iconic locations such as Blenheim Palace. Other local attractions include Daylesford Organic, Soho Farmhouse and, if you like shopping, the famous Bicester Village is only about 30 mins away. Our village pub - The Salford Inn - is just 5 minutes walk down the hill. It's recently been beautifully renovated with Cotswold stone with original beams on show. The chef serves light meals and daily specials. For those who love walking and biking, you'll have great access directly from The Barn to fantastic Cotswolds countryside. This is what a previous guest, Patrick said: "Can't say enough good things about staying at "The Barn". If you get the chance, stay here! We had such an amazing time, definitely the highlight of our trip to the UK! You went way above and beyond and we hope to be able to come stay again one day" The kingsize bed has a John Lewis Natural Collection pocket sprung mattress and the bed base has drawers for extra storage. There are both firm and medium pillows for you to choose from. A previous guest, Adam, said this: "Thank you for a great couple of days away from the city. We loved everything about our stay in The Barn. The location, the fire, the breakfast and probably the comfiest bed we’ve ever slept in." One of our previous guests, Charlotte, said "Nell & Tim are so friendly and helpful - would 100% recommend their gorgeous little place to anyone looking for a base in The Cotswolds area!" Our central location in the country means that we regularly welcome business people to The Barn. We have good WiFi and there's a round table to work at if needed. Our Keysafe gives flexibility in accessing The Barn if you're running late.
You will never be short of stunning sights and unforgettable days out when you visit this part of the world! The pre-historic settlement called The Rollright Stones, dates back to 4,000BC and is just a few minutes away by car (slightly longer by footpath!). The local market town just 5 minutes away - Chipping Norton - was an important wool centre from the Middle Ages, with Bliss Mill a wonderful local landmark. There's a busy market in the town every Wednesday and once a month on Saturday's there's also a Farmer's Market where all sorts of local produce and crafts are available for sale. For something a little bit more 'upmarket' Daylesford Organic Farm Shop is just a few miles away, as well as the Michelin Star 'Wild Rabbit' which serves high quality seasonal and local food.
  • Lovely stay. The room is exactly as advertised. Nell and Tim are really welcoming and we loved the log burner and breakfast. We had a fantastic day in nearby oxford and a lovely Indian in Cafe Le Raj in chipping Norton. I would highly recommend.

    Katie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Barn is lovely, we love the fireplace and the room is exactly same as described. The location is easily found by google map, a quiet and charming little village, we could see lots of stars even in the garden. We will definitely come back if we have a chance.

Chipping Norton also has many food shops, ranging from small, family run places, to a Co-op and a Sainsburys.
  • We were two couples visiting from Australia over new year’s and this was the perfect little haven for us to cosy up, cook and explore the local area. Parking was a bit tricky but everything else was just perfect!

  • Warm a friendly hospitality. Very helpful and kind lady. Just what you need.

    Edwin2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very friendly host, offered me a cup of tea and mince pie as soon as I got there. Bedroom is very accuracy depicted in the pictures on the ad, with a comfy (low) bed. Bathroom is shared with the family as stated. Location is very close to the centre and we walked to the theatre in less than 5 mins. It’s possible to park in their drive but it’s on a very sleep gradient, but there is street parking too. Only issue I had was the pipes making noise when we were trying to go to sleep but I messaged Val about them and she got up to turn them off. So overall great little stop off with great value for money.

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Kate’s property, it’s very close to Chipping Norton which is a lovely town to stroll around with great restaurants! We also had nice trips to Oxford, Bourton on the water and a walk around the Cotswolds wildlife park. The studio itself is really well equipped for a weekend away and is very quiet and private, a perfect weekend!

    Sarah2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very cosy, quiet and private, we loved the wood fire especially. Kate and Jon were great hosts.

    Kate2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely little place to stay and the bedroom is separate to the living space which is nice. Amazing shower and lovely bathroom, very clean. We went with our 2 dogs and it’s nice that you can let them out and there is a fence so they are enclosed in their own little garden. We didn’t t really venture out but collected a takeaway from nearby Chipping Norton which was lovely. There is no cooker but there is a microwave and toaster. The wifi was not working which the owner apologised for and it is in the process of being upgraded. A lovely cosy little Space which I wish was my holiday home lol.

    Lisa2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little self contained flat - very cosy in front of fire and a lovely bathroom

    Thomas2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little cottage, perfect for a relaxing get away. They made the dog very welcome too!

    Fay2019-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great little spot for a relaxing stay

    Lucy2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a perfectly brilliant little spot in the country near the Cotswolds. Fantastically cozy and clean, absolutely charming people, wonderful location. Kate and John are outstanding hosts, and the cottage itself enough to make you want to live there. Old church and fantastic cemetery a few yards away, and a very old Inn for supper if you can make the drive a few miles down the road. We got very lucky with a massive October Hunter's Moon over the fields, but I will unhesitatingly recommend this spot regardless of time of year or weather.

    Kray2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed staying here. It was a lovely space which was looked after very well. It was spotless in terms of cleanliness and the log burner gave it a real homely feel. Kate was super accommodating of us and our dog which is rare to find but makes it great for us. Not usually one to comment on bathrooms but the shower was outstanding, could have been there for days!

  • Great cottage in a super location. Super cosy when the weather was awful! Close to a lovely village pub and lots of Cotswold villages to explore nearby

    Katie2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • An absolutely beautiful cottage for a perfect getaway in the countryside. The house is stunning, with everything you need and a cosy fireplace. It’s situated in a great location with a wonderful pub just down the road. Couldn’t recommend this cottage more!

  • Fantastic space in a lovely Cotswolds town. Very cosy for the colder months!

    Julian2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage with a lot of quirks. The original spiral suitcase is a little scary so definitely not suitable to those with mobility issues or children. Lovely garden and kitchen and the rooms were very comfy. NB you need a car as it is very remote and not near any shops or ATMs

    Johara2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage, gorgeous outdoor space for meals in the terrace behind the garden. Very low ceilings though!

    Steph2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • A gorgeous little country cottage in the heart of the beautiful Cotswolds. Churchill is a beautiful village with an amazing pub that you must visit. There are some great walks and I would recommend taking a stroll over to the village of Kingham too. The owners really have thought of everything and the only downside will be when you have to leave !

  • If you're considering booking The Old Smithy, don't hesitate! It's full of charm and old-world character with all the modern touches you could need. The shower is fantastic and the log burner works a treat creating a wonderful cosy atmosphere! Kingham itself is the quintessential Cotswolds village benefitting from two amazing pubs...we can highly recommend both; we frequented both for dinner and The Kingham Plough does a fantastic breakfast and is only two minutes walk away! If you do decide to stay in the area we can also highly recommend Dalesford Farm, we found a reason to drop in every day of our stay...either for tea and cake, picking up some fantastic food or for breakfast on our last day before setting off home. We can't wait to return soon!!

A quirky little resting point at the gateway to the Cotswolds. Formerly a children’s nursery school it now welcomes families looking to get away from it all. The main bedroom has two doors as it was formerly separate rooms for the babies to sleep. Located 2 miles south of Chipping Norton with many pubs and restaurants within easy reach. Access to our private woodland with footpath leading to walks across fields. Close to Blenheim Palace, Fairytale Farm, Cotswold Wildlife Park, Daylesford Organic
The property is simple but has everything that you need for your stay. Tony and Elizabeth are happy to lend you anything else that you need - just ask.
The property spreads over six acres and in 2001 more than two thousand British native trees were planted with a pond created for the wildlife and an extensive net work of paths leading to public footpaths allowing visitors to stray to the nearest pub or to walk cross country to Chipping Norton. Kiln House has chickens which live behind an electric fence and organic free range eggs are available to purchase.
  • Tony + his wife made us feel really welcome. It's a ideal little annex to explore the Cotswolds. We were there for a weekend. The accommodation was cosy and stress free. I really felt I could relax and let my 3 year old run around and explore their large garden and private woods.

  • A lovely spot for a getaway, perfectly presented, ideally situated to escape the world for a while without losing one's place in it.

  • The Old Nursery was perfect my husband, myself, our friend and our two dogs and was a neat little historical experience! Everything we needed was provided and Tony and his family were extremely hospitable and quick to respond / assist. Places we wanted to visit were between 10 and 30 minute drives away, which we didn’t mind because the scenery was so beautiful. Would recommend The Old Nursery to anybody!

  • Tony’s place is a tremendous value, and the hospitality I received was unsurpassed. I enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, the back lot with footpaths and a canopy of trees, and the clean, comfortable bungalow. It was a great base for my visit to the area for a weekend workshop, with Chipping Norton an easy drive or walk away for necessities or an evening at the pub.

Nearby are some stunning Cotswolds villages, including the Tews, Kingham Bibury, Burford and Bourton-on-Water. All well worth a visit. Soho Farmhouse and Daylesford are just 10 minutes drive and there are plenty local taxi firms in the area.

  • Carly and Oli’s place is a little haven of peace in a gorgeous little town. We had the most relaxing weekend amongst friends. The fire place set in the middle of the kitchen and the lounge creates the perfect atmosphere for a cold winter’s day. The beds are extremely comfortable too! Carly and Oli were super helpful, sharing top tips in the area. Thank you for a wonderful weekend!

Welcome to The Machine Rooms, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. The Machine Rooms was once part of a barn and steam mill but is now a stylish property situated in the heart of the pretty, peaceful village of Churchill and surrounded by the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Churchill is fortunate to have a lovely church and village green, as well as a well-regarded pub, and is only three miles away from Chipping Norton and seven miles away from Stow-on-the-Wold, which are two of the well-known Cotswold market towns. The Machine Rooms is well placed for exploring the surrounding countryside or visiting the many beautiful towns and villages of the Cotswolds, as well as other tourist destinations, such as Oxford, Blenheim Palace and Stratford-upon-Avon. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Accessed via the garden, the front door opens into the open plan living/dining room and the following rooms are on the ground floor: Living/dining room: This bright and sociable space has a sofa and two armchairs positioned around the wood burning stove and the Smart TV which has a basic Sky package and Netflix access for account holders.
  • A lovely place to stay, can highly recommend it!

  • Charming place in a small village in the Cotswolds. There is an excellent pub in the village withing walking distance. A plus. There are other pubs in nearby villages but a car is needed. The interior is stylish, clean and modern. Very nice. Perfect for 2 couples. The main bedroom Is in the first floor. Large. The bedroom in the second floor is also large but with low ceilings. Both bathrooms are excellent with nice amenities. Highly recommended !!!

  • We had a fantastic stay at the Machine Rooms. Everything was just as advertised but what the pictures don't tell you is the homely yet modern feel of this cottage. the kitchen is small but has everything you need. Both bedrooms are ensuite and of good size to fit your luggage and still have space to move around. What makes this place extra special is the location - Churchill is a small village but beautiful and quiet - Daylesford is a 7 minute drive, Chipping Norton is another short drive so it is perfectly located. We had booked to stay for a week and ended up extending our stay for an extra night because we were so comfortable. We travelled with a baby and there was a travel cot and high chair provided. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

  • Jenny and Mike are a lovely couple to stay with - they were around to let us in and made us feel comfortable in their home. Our room and bathroom were lovely and clean and nice and new which is a luxury. Then the breakfast in the morning was a lovely touch, and a nice opportunity to chat to them about the area and between ourselves. Really enjoyable and would stay again in Chipping Norton with Jenny.

  • Perfect hosts, lovely house and area and very comfortable bed. Would highly recommend and definitely stay there again next time we are in the area.

    Jackie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend Jenny’s place, the room and bathroom were so clean and spacious, the bed was comfy, and lots of cute touches in the room including coffee, tea and water. We had a continental breakfast ready for us every morning, everything we could want to set us up for a full day of sightseeing. It was only a 10 minute walk to the town, with lots of shops, pubs and places to eat. Jenny was very knowledgable about the area, and gave us lots of advice on where to go. We will definitely be staying again!

    Hayley2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a brief but very pleasant stay here. The facilities and amenities were great, the location was very good (it’s a 10 minute walk to Chipping Norton High Street). The room and bathroom we clean and the bed was comfortable! Access to the room was straightforward and communication was excellent. I’d certainly recommend staying here if you’re visiting the area!

  • Exceptionally clean, amazing facilities, perfect hosts. Highly recommend this place!!

    Niall2019-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely 100% happy with the spacious and warm room (+ private bathroom), just perfect for a cold winter weekend! If we are going again in the area, no doubt we will check if this room is free! About the hosts, Jenny is really lovely and has been really accommodating. Many thanks :)

    Aura2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had the loveliest stay in Jenny's beautiful home. Despite us booking it very last minute Jenny got back to us very quickly and was so welcoming and accommodating when we arrived. Her house is absolutely spotless and the guest space is so clean and comfortable, we were really made to feel right at home. We had parking included and could explore the local area of Chipping Norton very easily. We wished we had longer to stay but know where to go if we ever come back!
