So much more than I expected, would stay again!

A unique and eclectic loft conversion in the heart of the quiet village of Carleton, 1.5 miles outside the popular market town of Skipton, 'Gateway to the Dales'. Offering seclusion, privacy and comfort, this is a great base for exploring the surrounding area. Carleton has a pub, a social club, a village store, a Post Office, a pharmacy, and direct bus links to Skipton during the week. The Pennine Way crosses the top of Carleton Moor and sections of 2014 Tour de France are on the doorstep.
The Loft is a third floor apartment, comprising a spacious living room with a smart TV including its own Netflix log in and DVD player, a well equipped kitchen, bathroom, secondary WC, bedroom, and private outdoor terrace. The apartment is very light and airy during the day; extremely cosy on a night, and at its best on a summer day when the terrace comes into its own, which is accessed directly from both the living room and bedroom.
A beautiful village in the Yorkshire Dales with a great sense of community.
  • Brilliant stay, the flat is as described - very modern and a lovely space. The communication throughout was great. Lovely area to explore.

  • Kerrie was a wonderful host, providing us with instant responses and helping greatly with info about the weather and flooding round the village. The place is lovely, very clean and modern. Even has it's own Netflix login! And the location is fantastic for popping into the dales for walks. The village pub is across the street. We would definitely stay there again. It has all the kitchen and utility facilities needed (oven, hob, toaster etc and dishwasher, washing machine etc.). All in all, a fantastic place to stay.

  • Great cottage, really enjoyed our stay here. It was very clean, quiet and very close to a great pub and local shop. Would definitely recommend to stay here.

  • Ryan’s place was perfect. Cosy cottage well situated for exploring the area. With a shop and a pub less than a minute away we wanted for nothing. Ryan had also left us the essentials upon arrival. (Bread, milk, etc) The cottage also had all the things you need on a daily basis. (Cooking equipment, laundry things!) The wood burner is a great touch but the central heating was more than sufficient to keep all there warm and comfortable. Ryan himself replied to messages promptly, made himself available for questions, and helped us get a better understanding of the area. 5 stars all round.

    Simon2020-02-22T00:00:00Z

  • Lovely location and stunning cottage.

    Bradley2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay in a lovely village. The house was very clean, including all the glassware etc in the kitchen, which was very much appreciated. The house is comfortable and cosey, which was very welcome after a day walking at Malham Cove. There is a shop right on the doorstep and a pub very close as well. Ryan was very prompt at replying from the initial booking all the way through to our stay, and helped us with tips for somewhere nice to eat in the evening. His hospitality was great, even giving us a lift to the restaurant he recommended in a nearby village. Couldn’t have asked for anymore and would recommend staying there to anyone.

The cottage has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and can comfortably sleep up to 5 people with the use of the pull out sofabed in the lounge. • Gill is an amazing lovely lady ! She is so thoughtfull, social, polite and positive. I came to Skipton for a job interview and she even gave me nice tips for the interview. I felt totally like home and I was so relax even though I was extremely stressed before I was coming. I cant think a better and cleaner place to stay. Thanks Gill !

  • Gill’s beautiful home is tucked into a quiet street less than a five minute stroll from Skipton town. During my stay I arrived late but Gill was so welcoming. She showed me to my cosy single room and talked me through the house. The whole how was so warm and bright. The place was spotless! I was also made to feel very comfortable by Gill. She had brilliant tips on nightlife as I was only there for the evening. Not only that but she had a small selection of treats for breakfast in the morning. I highly recommend staying with Gill. 10/10 host, 10/10 service, 10/10 location. Thank you and hopefully I’ll be back again!

The flat overlooks the Leeds/Liverpool canal. A relaxing place to sit and watch the boats and wildlife on the water with easy access to explore the Yorkshire Dales. Only a 15 minute walk on the towpath takes you to Skipton with its abundance of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars as well as the famous market which is held 4 days a week. An early check-in and/or a late check-out can be arranged subject to availability. Netflix is accessible with my log-in details - no need for our own.
There is a drop leaf table and 4 dining chairs for a better dining experience. For maximum comfort the sofa bed is only really suitable for one adult or two children - although some guests choose to use it for 2 adults.
There are plenty of walks directly from the flat - 20/30 minutes walk along the canal towpath to Skipton Castle Woods. The Boathouse Bar in the canal basin is our favourite watering hole and the Sound Bar is brilliant for music and a vibrant atmosphere. Lots of choice for good restaurants and take-aways. Tesco, Morrisons, M&S food hall and Aldi are all nearby as well as a plethora of independent bakeries and butchers shops. Lots more information in the flat.
  • Maureen’s place is located close to the train station and is great value for money. Excellent facilities which are very clean. The sitting room has a lovely view of the canal and had adequate seating for the family. Despite the miserable weather we had a great walk to Skipton town centre, the Castle and woods. Altogether a great place for a little getaway!

  • Fantastic location and a lovely spacious apartment. Really clean and lots of added extras.

    Stephanie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful host excellent communication , the flat is a real find right next to canal . Clean and spacious with everything you need and easy to get into town . We’ll certainly be back . Thank you for a lovely stay.

  • Such a lovely stay in a great location right by the canal, a short pretty walk into the centre of Skipton. The place was very clean and Maureen was very helpful and added some lovely personal touches which were a sweet surprise for my sister’s birthday. Would defiantly stay again and recommend.

    Kristian2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • The view is as you see it in the pictures. So lovely on the canal- perfect for a walk or run . Maureen was so thoughtful to leave milk and a snack for us on arrival. Very comfortable unit .

    Suzanne2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • The accommodation was perfect for our 4 day stay. Great location. Gorgeous scenery, with ducks & swans thrown in for free!! Tea, coffee, fresh milk, toilet roll and other necessities awaiting your arrival. Very cosy, ample wardrobe/drawer space. And fabulous & friendly host. Maureen even left a chocolate santa on my sons bed!! Extremely thoughtful touch. It was perfect for us. We was left wanting for nothing more!

    Clare2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Maureen was a fab host. Brilliant communication through out. On arrival the flat was warm and clean. Very comfortable home. Lovely festive touches. Location was great for us and parking a bonus so near to Skipton. Would very much recommend this Airbnb!

  • This apartment is fabulous with everything you need to make your stay comfortable and much more besides. The place is ideally located in a quiet cul de sac - just a short, level walk into town (in daylight you can take the canal towpath all the way). It is beautifully furnished, modern, cosy and spotlessly clean. The lounge has a picture window looking out onto the canal with beautiful views across open countryside. It has private off-road parking which is a bonus. We were truly impressed by this lovely apartment and the warm welcome extended by Maureen. We hope to be back soon.

  • Dianne has a lovely home within walking distance of the town centre. The room has a comfortable double bed with lovely views. She made me very welcome, checking in with me before I arrived about the cereals and bread I wanted for breakfast and providing home baking to help myself to during my stay. I would definitely recommend Dianne’s place to stay.

  • Dianne is very welcoming and makes you feel right at home. The room is comfy and spacious, with a large desk. The kitchen is well equipped. The whole house is kept very clean. Skipton offers easy access to several great hikes and other destinations in the Yorkshire Dales, even without a car. The only negative point is that the house was a bit cold during the day, but Dianne gave me an electric radiator which kept me warm while I was working.

    Julien2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The place is 10-minute walk away from the Town Centre with several shops and pubs. The room has a lovely view of a hill and is spacious for one person. You get your own bathroom which is clean and spacious as well. Interaction with the guest was excellent (she give local advice, provide instructions for breakfast and is happy to help with what you need) Highly recommended!

The 1855 Wash House is a studio cottage, located within a minutes walk from Skipton High Street. It is on one level apart from one step down into the kitchen. The studio is situated at the rear of a Victorian terrace within the owners garden. There is an outdoor flagged area for guests with sheltered seating for 2. There is a permit parking space at the front of the cottage. Several early morning opening cafes are close by and Marks and Spencers Simply food is just around the corner.
The studio is in a fantastic location right in the heart of Skipton with easy access to all fascilities, yet is safe and quiet at night. It is warm and comfortable with a small but stylish kitchen and bathroom.

  • A cosy and quirky place to stay, as well as being absolutely spotless; the location could not be more convenient. It is located right in the town centre yet not noisy and not lots of people waking past. This makes it a convenient space with allocated parking very useful. We were therefore able to go out to eat at night without having to drive or take a taxi, everything was less than 5 minutes walk away. I would recommend this place to my friends, not only The Wash House ,but Skipton is a great place and a great base for trips further afield.

    Katie2020-01-19T00:00:00Z

The beds were extremely comfortable and the space had plenty of thoughtful touches such as gingerbread, fresh fruit and filter coffee. The space is new since Sept 2019 with stylish interior design and great attention to detail. In the evening we lit the log fire and enjoyed relaxing in the communal area. Would highly recommend and hope to visit again in the future.

  • We were only at The Coach House a short time but the time that we were there was absolutely wonderful. On arrival, we were greeted warmly by Jean who showed us around The Coach House (which is utterly beautiful) before leading us to our private room where a bottle of fizz was very thoughtfully left for us as we were celebrating our engagement. The room was very well appointed with a very comfortable bed and large shower. Breakfast (pastries, cereal, toast, juice, fruit, yoghurt, tea & coffee) was also included which was a great start to each morning! We can't wait to stay at The Coach House again.

A newly built dwelling in the grounds of our c18th century farmhouse with stunning views across the Pennine hills. We are situated just above the village of Cowling in North Yorkshire, a peaceful setting complimented in the Lodge by having no TV (there is WiFi if you want to bring your own tablet or laptop for your fix). Underfloor heating with the addition of a log burner will keep you warm while the wind blows across the hills outside.
The Lodge has a double bedroom with a king size bed, bathroom and open plan living area. Upon your arrival there will be tea, coffee and milk to welcome you. The bedroom overlooks the fields towards Cowling Pinnacle and Lund's Tower in one direction, and over our vegetable patch and chicken run (which you are welcome to go and feed the chickens) in the other. The open plan living area has a kitchen with hob, oven, extractor, dishwasher, sink, plenty of storage and all the usual kitchen equipment (if there is anything missing, just let us know). There is also a dining table with four chairs and a sofa/chair in front of the wood burner (which will be equipped with logs for one night, further logs are available for purchase). There is no TV to make this a peaceful stay with the chance to unwind and relax. You are welcome to wander through our field which joins on to some of the many public footpaths in the area. If you do need to work or connect to the outside world, there is secure WiFi in the Lodge. The shower room has a twin headed shower, basin and toilet in. The Lodge has underfloor heating throughout, the heating and hot water are provided by an air source heat pump powered by the solar panels on the roof.
Cowling has a village shop, pub and restaurant, with many other pubs and restaurants serving good food being within an easy drive.
  • A terrific little place! Spotlessly clean, warm, comfortable and really quiet. Also a great base for exploring Bronte country and the Dales. Make sure to check out the excellent fish and chip shop in the village, too!

  • Wow, this place was a great little find. It is stylish, immaculately presented with everything you need and more and was a absolute delight after a long walk on the Pennine Way. Communication was excellent and I can’t recommend this place enough, the log burner was particularly welcome in getting things dry.

An immaculate family bathroom (with walk in shower and bath) and utility room is also located on the ground floor. • What a lovely surprise to find such a spacious, clean, comfortable rental so close to Skipton (Ilkley, Bolton Abbey, etc.) within walking distance to a top-notch pub. Our family of four + another couple had plenty of room to spread out with the two INCREDIBLY clean bathrooms, upstairs living area, and three bedrooms. We especially loved the flowers throughout, the electric fireplace, the large dining area, the comfortable seating options, the views from the living room, and the hospitality of the owners, who interacted with us on several occasions. The entryway room with washer and room for coats/ shoes was an added bonus. We hope to return and meet family again one day. Highly recommended!

  • We had a great stay. The house is very clean and was comfortable for us, a group of 6 adults and a toddler. The nice touches of some toys and a home baked cake on arrival made our visit extra special. Carleton is charming and in good procimity or Skipton and many other great places to visit, but it is a very quiet place without many amenities. The Granary is set in the quiet village of Carleton just 2 miles from Skipton and was built in 2012 from Yorkshire stone to create an annexe to the original farmhouse, Ivy Cottage Farm. Sadly no longer a working farm, Ivy Cottage Farm is an original 17th Century Dales longhouse with open countryside to the rear and views of the hills. There are some lovely local walks from your doorstep and the village itself has a local pub serving; village shop/off license, and regular bus service into town.
The Granary is a stylish, one bedroomed apartment/annexe, newly refurbished with underfloor heating. It is all on one level with just 3 steps from the communal entrance hall to its internal front door and has a very stylish and contemporary interior. The open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area has wonderful high ceilings with exposed wooden trusses and bi-folding doors look out and lead to the south facing, private decked patio where you have views of the garden, hills and countryside. In the one bedroom, the beds can be arranged either as twin beds or together to form a comfortable superking bed. This cosy little pad is ideal for couples and provides a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the town. Skipton is very accessible from Carleton and is just a 5-minute drive away or easy level walk across open fields or by following the pavemented route along the road. Carleton itself has a few amenities; with the village pub, local store/off-licence, serving groceries, newspapers etc and is open 7 days a week; a phamacy and a Post Office. The village also has a regular bus service, Monday to Friday, for those who want to leave the car behind.
Carleton is a lovely rural village with stunning views across the valley into Skipton known as the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. It is very typically Yorkshire and the fields surrounding the village are often full with sheep and cattle. The hills and moors which surround the village make a very colourful and scenic backdrop.
  • This is my favourite Air BnB that I’ve stayed in. Everything is brilliant from start to finish. Sally thinks of everything. The information she sends a week in advance is so helpful. The cottage is absolutely beautiful and amazingly stylish with every modern convenience you could imagine. Great location too and great tips for local eateries etc. We have already booked our return visit.

    Rebecca2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at The Granary was absolutely perfect. The space is ideal for a weekend (or an even longer) trip, and the location is perfect to explore both Skipton and further up the Dales. It was very easy to move around (walk, car, taxi - and even Uber!) and at the same time you get the peace and quiet one would expect from a small Yorkshire town. The cottage had everything we needed - it was stylish, modern, fully equipped, and very cosy. We loved it so much that we are already planning on our next visit!

  • We stayed one night at the Coach House and it was lovely! The room is exactly as it looks in the picture with beautiful decor and immaculate cleanliness. Both the room and bathroom are very spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable. After a long day exhibiting at Yarndale, that was much appreciated. The little touches, like cakes and water laid out for us at arrival, were lovely. There is wifi access and a beautiful, cosy communal lounge for relaxing in with a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits. The breakfast was great too with a three types of cereal and choice of almond milk or cow's milk, toast with a range of preserves, fresh fruits, yogurt and delicious pastries. The host is across the road so any issues can be sorted out quickly. We didn't have any! All in all, a lovely stay and highly recommended!

A quaint basement accommodation, within three minute walking distance from the market town of Skipton, easy access to train station and cinema and local swimming pool, the gateway to the Dales. Our accommodation does NOT have a kitchen - please read description carefully to avoid disappointment! :)
The accommodation is in the basement of our family home. On speaking to past guests they have confirmed that you can hear us upstairs, but we can't hear you. Previous guests have said its like mumbled talking occasionally, the dog barking and general walking around, no one has had an issue with it, in fact the comments have been positive, stating that it makes the place more friendly and homely! We do not stay up into the early hours of the morning partying and all noise has usually ceased by 10pm! Please don’t book with us if you require total silence!! The accommodation comprises of a lounge with open range fire, comfortable settee and table and two chairs. A large double bedroom with a king size bed, dressing table with three way mirror and plenty of storage space. PLEASE NOTE that the double bed is higher than your average double bed. The best way to describe it would be the height of a Victorian bed, I am 5’ 4” and when standing next to the bed the top of the mattress is waist height (hope that helps!). It certainly would not be suitable for anyone with mobility difficulties. There is a single bedroom with a single bed and a pull out bed, this room could accommodate two children. There is a chair and bedding box in the single room plus a large wardrobe. The bathroom has a toilet, wash basin and a shower. We provide the essentials such as soap, shampoo, loo rolls, towels. THE BASEMENT DOES NOT HAVE A KITCHEN but in the recess of the lounge there is a sideboard with a microwave, toaster, kettle, tea, coffee, sugar and bread and jams for breakfast. The lounge also has a mini fridge and a cupboard with crockery, glass wear and knives and forks. There will be milk and butter in the fridge for you. There is a washing up bowl, tea towels and washing up liquid in the bathroom, all we ask is that if your stay is for a long period then could you wash and dry your pots as we do not ‘house keep’ during your stay. The basement is located at the bottom of some stone steps so unfortunately it would be unsuitable for anyone struggling with steps. We live in a quiet area of Skipton but only a two/three minute walk away from the town centre. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes in easy walking distance.
We live a short walking distance from town, easy access to train and bus stations, close by to the castle and the lovely skipton woods
  • A real treat. Luxurious, quirky accommodation (re master bed!) with stylish space including open fire in old grate and special touches like the elephants in bedroom and rugs for sitting room. There is no kitchen but very well appointed otherwise and plenty of local cafes/restaurants.

  • Sarah’s flat is warm , cosy and inviting. Sarah certainly goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and at home. Sarah is always on the end of a phone if you have any issues. Which is brilliant. Also even though the flat doesn’t have a proper kitchen isn’t a big deal at all. As there are so many shops, cafes and restaurants on the door step. We shall definitely be making a return visit next time we come up to Skipton. Thank you Sarah.

  • After reading other reviews I was expecting the apartment to be fantastic. It didn't disappoint. there wasn't anything we needed that wasn't there and a few extras that we didn't expect. Thank you again sarah for a lovely weekend.

    Cath2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Would highly recommend Sarah’s place, we will defo stay again when we are in the area.

  • Perfect location, excellent communication, and great value. Superb.

    Joel2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Pre-communication was straightforward and access easy as described. This is a cosy, warm, clean and stylish apartment with a few nice touches like shower gel, chocolate, milk and breakfast supplies. The open stove fire was perfect on what turned out to be a wild, wet day, and was already set so just required a match. Dog-friendly for our two ‘girls’. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Our cottage is nestled away off the main road within the small village of Cowling. Recently renovated from an old mill barn into a stylishly decorated cottage with the Yorkshire Moors right on the doorstep. A local village pub & restaurant are just a few minutes walk around the corner offering the best local ales & delicious food. Centrally located for Skipton, Pennine way, Lake District, The Dales, Ribble Valley & much more. Stunning in all Seasons- you won't be disappointed or want to leave.
The log burner will greet you with that toasty welcome after a long walk out in the countryside on a brisk Autumn or Winters day. Or be it Spring or Summer, the outside of the cottage is a sun trap where you can sit on the patio opposite the cottage and relax, have a lovely lunch enjoying the views over the field and the pinnacle. The cottage has a king size bed in bedroom 1 with a shower en suite, and bedroom two has two singles with the house bathroom, featuring free-standing Victorian style bath across the landing. The cottage has low beams & ceilings on the first floor- which adds character but we urge our guests to be mindful of this and have a few signs here and there as reminders. The living room is also situated on the first floor along with the bedrooms- where you will find fantastic views looking up to the pinnacle & a log burning stove to relax in front of. Downstairs is the open plan kitchen/diner along with a "snug area" for chilling out with drinks, playing games or watching tv. There is a secure garage within the cottage which can accommodate cycles, motorcycles or small trailer. Within this space, there is a utility & downstairs toilet- a washing machine & drying area is also available to use.
The Saltpot Cottage is located in the lovely village of Cowling, North Yorkshire. As the cottage is in the countryside, there are numerous walks close by, including the Pennine way and Yorkshire dales. Skipton is the closest market town, which is steeped in history and has its own castle! Leeds is the nearest city, which can be reached by train from Steeton (5 miles away) and only takes 25 minutes on the train. Bolton abbey is another interesting place to visit, nestled on the River Wharfe. A "jewel in the crown" of Yorkshire set in 30,000 acres of countryside & owned by the Devonshire family since 1755- has inspired many an artist, such as Wordsworth, Turner, Ruskin & Royle. The Priory ruins are a must-see whilst at Bolton Abbey- full of history and legends- the perfect family day out. The village of Haworth is also within easy reach by car, famous for its association with the Bronte sisters, who wrote most of their popular works from the Bronte Parsonage. There is also a steam locomotive in action on the KWVR railway in Haworth- great for kids & adults! There are many more attractions and interesting things to do & see during your stay at the Saltpot Cottage, we are more than happy to help you discover these if required.
  • Salt Pot Cottage is spacious & immaculately clean, with fantastic attention to detail & all amenities for cooking. We had a lovely relaxing time with the log burner in the snug! We’d recommend to future guests a trip to Haworth, Ilkley & a walk around Skipton woods.

  • The Coach House is just fantastic with super stylish comfortable decor. Welcoming communal living space with delightful log burner, cosy bedrooms with beds of 5* hotel quality. A delightful location with brilliant hosts. We stayed in Room 3, the space you get is worth the little extra in our opinion. Would not hesitate to book again when we are in the area and would definitely recommend. This is a new B&B and I don’t think it will be long before its booked out well in advance!
