Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Rappahannock County

We had a wonderful time in this great house! The house was big with everything you could ask for. Our daughter was getting married at Rock Hill farm which is only 3.5 miles away and the house provided us a quiet, peaceful place to come home to after a busy day and evening. There were sheep grazing beside the house! We didn’t get a chance to tryout the spa and pool, but maybe next time. We highly recommend!!!

Our family of four enjoyed our time at Brandy’s place. We especially liked the views and the hot tub. Convenient location for Front Royal and the NP.

We have been to a number of rentals, both Airbnb and others, both in the U.S. and abroad. Walnut Run Farm is BY FAR the warmest, most welcoming, most perfect rental we have ever been to. If the property were for sale we would buy it in a minute, even as we much hope John will continue to keep and care for it for many years as the treasure it is. In renting John's home (and it is absolutely and in every sense a home), you have the chance to live in an extraordinary country house on a large, beautiful piece of idyllic Virginia Piedmont farmland. If you can score a rental at Walnut Run Farm, grab it.

Perfect cottage! Beautiful views of the mountains. The host thought of everything to make our stay relaxing. We enjoyed the close proximity to the Inn at Little Washington and Patty Os for breakfast. A wonderful weekend getaway from DC. We can’t wait to return.

This place was great!! The view and the set up is perfect! The gravel road getting to it is a little daunting and it is probably better in an SUV than a car but once you do it once its not as bad. Would absolutely stay here again!

The Sun Dancer Lodge has the most wonderful views! Not hard to find, yet so quiet and peaceful. Plenty of room and Darden was a responsive and helpful host! We'll look to come back next year!

Wide Pine is truly a treasure! One of the most beautiful and well appointed Airbnb’s I have stayed in. Everything from the beautiful wood floors and open airy design of the house, to the thoughtful added touches like an espresso machine and robes in all the bathrooms and bedrooms made our stay feel above the rest. The setting is peaceful and private, we enjoyed long walks through the trails in the woods, and sitting in the sun on the deck. The house is cozy, comfortable, and has everything (and more!) to meet all of our needs! We would absolutely stay here again!

Sarah's place was a wonderful place for a weekend getaway. It's far enough from the city for stargazing at night, but near some great little restaurants in town. Parking is directly in front of the house for easy unloading. The house layout was fun to explore with interesting angles to give a unique feel. We would love to return for a future stay!

Elizabeth was super responsive and helped us check-in late night. I loved the location and it went extremely peaceful and calm. Pictured looked just like description :)

We’re an outdoorsy family and we all loved our stay in Glenn’s home, right by the water with easy to launch area for the kayaks, no light pollution at night to watch a blanket of stars in the sky. Our fur baby loved it just as much and took a liking to Glenn. Thank you and hope to be back this summer!!!

This is our third time staying here! Perfect weekend getaway location to hike, see the stars, and enjoy the company of friends.

I had a wonderful stay. Ruthann’s place was beautiful both inside and out. The room was spacious, spotless, and full of light, perfect for a solo traveler. The bed was comfortable, the kitchen well-stocked, great water pressure in the shower. I especially loved the raised nook beside the bed; it was a lovely place to begin the day, reading by the morning light and listening to the birds. The private patio is peaceful, a well-shaded garden with comfortable furnishings; you can spend all day out there. Ruthann is just lovely. Her instructions for parking and accessing the space were clear, and she was very responsive and checked in with me each day. It was great to chat. I felt very welcome. I appreciated all the little touches, from snacks and water to the collection of DVDs. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and hope to stay again!

This was our second stay in this lovely apartment, and just as great as the first! Such a lovely place to be while we visited our family over the holidays. The pool table is a fun addition! Thanks, Carl!

William's place is so peaceful with truly awesome views of the valley and surrounding mountains. We really enjoyed our time of resting and relaxing there. William and Vickie were always responsive and very helpful from the time of booking to our stay. William is very kind and eager to give local recommendations. We enjoyed the proximity to the Skyline Drive, Shenandoah, and Massanutten. For anyone that wants a quiet and peaceful place to relax, I highly recommend this location.

Erika and John’s place was wonderful, exactly what I needed for a quick weekend trip from DC! The bed was comfortable and they were very responsive. Would definitely stay again!

Have stayed here multiple times now but this visit was specifically for my daughter and son in law to enjoy a babymoon getaway. The river is easily accessible so they floated in tubes one day and took their canoe out another. They were able to take their dog as it is dog friendly. They grilled out and enjoyed the beautiful decks around the home. Resturant suggestions were layed out with local menus as well as local attractions. Luray Caverns is close by, Cooters, from Dukes of Hazards store serves a great lunch, and the drive and scenery all around is incredible. Sharon is the best host and always available by text or phone for questions. Check in and out were simple.

William was very responsive and understanding to our baby’s needs (eg setting up the pack n play even prior to our arrival). There are also toys and books! The place is cozy and great for our needs. Just a note that the main bedroom is also the living area, which worked out fine for us given that the baby slept in the second bedroom.

We wanted a quiet place away to enjoy nature. This was perfect. A few miles from great waterfall hiking…white Oak Canyon in SNP. We enjoy birding and found there was a great variety of birds to be heard. The leaves were pretty full on the trees, so viewing them was the challenge. We enjoyed the deck for birding right at the rental! We had three couples, a fourth invited but unable to come, so every couple had their own space. We prepared all our food, and the kitchen had a lot of space, and modestly stocked with utensils, etc. Being older our caloric needs were not much, so we did not feel we could eat our moneys worth at the restaurant. We really enjoyed the live music in the serene setting on Fri eve. We enjoyed watching the storm pass through Sat eve and the rainbow that formed.

Very close to the hospital I needed to get to. Super clean, and very comfortable. The host is very flexible, and very sweet. I would definitely recommend, and I would definitely stay again.

We had a lovely stay at Lili's place. It was very peaceful! We would definitely book again if we were in the area. Lili was very responsive to any questions we had.

Our stay here was wonderful. The location was isolated but it was still part of a neat group of lodges and an inn that had travelers come together for bonfires and meals, if they wished. The airbnb itself was very clean and homey.

The place was nice and you can see the mountains from the enclosed porch. The drive to the Shenandoah National Park entrance was not bad.

My family and I loved our time at Graves Mountain. Redwood 3 was cosy and spacious. The pool was huge and my boys loved it. My husband and I enjoyed the family style food at the lodge, the campfire and the band. We all enjoyed feeding the chickens, petting the pigs and hiking to the 60’ waterfall in Shenandoah National Park just down the road. My one son and I also enjoyed a peaceful horseback ride through the orchards and woods. I highly recommend a stay here if you are looking for a relaxing stay in the mountains surrounded by nature and topped off with southern hospitality! We were glad to see they were on top of all the Covid safety requirements too so no worries there!
