I loved my stay at the Malvern Depot! I walked on the Wabash Trace Nature Trail from Council Bluffs to Malvern that day and was expecting a simple and boring small town. I was surprisingly mistaken! Malvern is a great town. The depot is an awesome place to stay along the way; clean, comfortable, and cute. It is a short walk from 2-3 places to eat, Casey's, a grocery store, the art church, and local festivities. These things are usually unheard of in a town with about 1000 people. I had a great walleye dinner at the cafe. Then, the town was hosting a STEM event for the children, which included a band and a ballet performance by the Des Moines Ballet. I can't believe I had such great luck. Then the next day, I walked to Ike's Place in Shenandoah. I asked Cheryl if she knew anyone who I could pay to pick me up and take me back to my vehicle in Council Bluffs, and she offered. So, I met Cheryl and her sister, Marsheila, and had a fun ride back. Thanks, Cheryl!

Ryan always responded immediately whenever we contacted him. There was a nice area for our dog to run. It was exactly what we needed while we were here.

Mike’s place was great, had everything we needed and then some! Perfect for our family!

I absolutely loved this cabin and am excited to come back. The house is very comfortable and well stocked. The grounds are beautiful and I loved sitting on the porch and watching the birds. A note to other travelers, you can hear the road from the property (including the lovely sounds of Amish carts), but it's not constant and the cabin is extremely private. I felt right at home.

We knew our daughter (4 years old) had off school a couple days around Easter, so we figured we would do a mini family getaway together to make some happy memories. She loves trains and treehouses, so we asked her to choose which one she'd enjoy most. She happily chose the train caboose, and it was a great choice that we all appreciated! The area scenery is beautiful, Decorah has many great shops downtown, tasty restaurants that we enjoyed, and gorgeous scenery all over that we loved seeing as a family. We feel blessed to have found this fun location, and loved its charming look. The horses on the property were a delightful bonus too, as we are a family of animal-lovers.

This place was great as a landing pad for all our adventures. From the photos we thought it was a little more secluded but it was close to the host and there were other homes in the neighborhood. Very beautiful area and certainly not a deal breaker for us but others may think otherwise. Very clean place and great for cooking up a quick meal. We ate at Sage Creek Grille and it was really good. We would stay again. Location is perfection for the different parks and hikes.

Gale went above and beyond to make this an amazing visit! She had tasty treats available upon our arrival (asked about any food allergies ahead of time), gave great recommendations for the next leg of our trip, and served us a great breakfast before we hit the road again. We will be sure to come this way again!!

The cabin was just what we needed. It was so nice and cozy for my husband and I, and the surrounded area was absolutely beautiful. Hope to stay there again in the future.

It was well worth it! Beautiful, serene, and just what the doctor ordered. The new hot tub was top notch. Perfect for our honeymoon. The patio was very nice and private. We even got to listen to the roosters talk the next morning ❣️

We were so delighted to stay at this sweet spot again! We visited in November and had a great experience and it was just as great this time. The location is just lovely and absolutely peaceful. A very secluded spot where we enjoyed a nice bonfire and listened to the birds + bullfrogs. We hope to visit again soon!

We loved our stay at this cabin. There was a lot of thought, effort, and craftsmanship went into designing and building it. Everything felt intentional, high-quality, and welcoming. The surroundings were also beautiful. We saw all kinds of wildlife: deer with fawns, a woodchuck and her babies, a fox with a her kit, and countless bird species. I also caught a few trout at a nearby stream. There were hiking trails and a small stream on ther property. It was the perfect place to unplug and relax Highly recommend.

We stayed at Mary’s place for one night and absolutely loved it. It’s a quiet, cozy spot with everything we needed - super comfortable and well-equipped. The instructions were clear and made arrival really easy, and everything about the stay was smooth from start to finish. Thanks for a great stopover!

I love that this place is in an area where you can just relax and have peace and quiet no city noises, it’s easy to find and I loved that you can go outside and talk a walk and sit on the swings and just have coffee and look out into an open area.

This cabin at Sunset Hills Bison Ranch was everything we could ever ask for! The cabin was well kept and we felt right at home. Our family loved walking around and seeing the bison. Also, we loved that our dog was able to go with us! He loved it too! Definitely recommend and would love to visit again!

A very cute place in a great location. Very easy to access downtown and there plenty to do within a 5-10 mile radius.

This is a wonderfully modern cottage, off the main hwy. Chancelor provided ear plugs and a sound machine for the traffic noise at night, but after the first night it didn't bother us. If your bringinging fur babies be prepared to drive to go walk them as there isnt space to walk with them right at the cottage. It was fine for us as we took them hiking daily at goose island campground and another park nearby. We really enjoyed our stay to visit family in the area. I would book the cottage again, it was super cozy and we loved the outdoor fire pit even though we didn't get a chance to use it. We did use the indoor fire place, nice ambience, its just a heater but was enjoyable nonetheless. Thanks Chancelor!

We've stayed here two other times before. We love everything about it, comfortable, clean, calm oh yeah and the cows. We'll be back.

Great place to stay and unwind. Steve is a friendly and helpful host. The sunsets are pretty amazing. If you are checking in on Friday, make sure to get there by 6PM. Steve does a pizza dinner fundraisers and they look amazing. We unfortunately missed out on it. Also, the town of Viroqua has a lot to offer.

We loved Erica’s place! What really stood out was the tranquility of the neighborhood. We’re nightshifters so having peace during the day was so important. If I’m ever back in Sioux Falls, this is definitely a place I’d like to stay again.

Honestly, due to other reviews, I had high expectations. Paul and his beautiful home exceeded them all. Paul is a gracious host and had little touches that showed how much he loves to be a host (farm fresh eggs, kolaches, milk, etc.) The cabin itself couldn’t be more perfect. The scenery, wildlife, and coziness were exactly what I needed on this little vacation with my sister. It was the perfect getaway and more. Can’t possibly recommend travel to this destination enough. You are missing out if you haven’t visited before. My sincerest thanks to Paul. You have created the perfect example of Iowa beauty and Iowa nice. I can’t wait to visit again soon.

planned a bday trip to forestville/mystery caves. camp sites didn't have heated water and motels were a second choice. the jail house is a fun idea! took our time from mpls, stopped along the way. definitely checked all the boxes for traveling. only thing we would suggest is a bigger table/prep area to dish our dinner and eat. Hyvee grocery store in Rochester had a steak dinner event on Thursday. I couldn't help but to laugh at the novelty when I first walked into the door! I'd go to jail here anytime!

Just far enough from the busy highways and town, but not too far away to be inconvenient. Quiet neighborhood and we enjoyed sitting in the backyard listening to the birds. Stephanie gave clear and timely instructions. Everything worked fine. If we are ever in the area again we will make a point to try to stay here.

If your are looking for something private and off the beaten path, look no further! This was a perfect place for my wife and I to disconnect and reconnect with each other. Beautiful land and nature surrounds you with a cozy cabin to boot. We spent most of our time outside and it was just magical. I would highly recommend this as a spot to spend some time with your loved one/s. We will definitely keep this on our radar when choosing a destination for our next getaway.

Awesome-friendly-helpful host!! Lots of bathrooms supplies & even dog treats & poop bags💩 we stayed one night for a wedding downtown & it was an ideal location. The house is well stocked, comfy & adorable….the yard is beautiful!! Thank you SO much!!
