Cozy and quiet place, in the center of Crete, halfanhour by road (wide and in excellent condition the one towards Retymno) from the north and south coasts. The village of Meronas is very pleasant. An authentic experience after many beaches.

Manolis is a great host and his mother is also so kind. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and help e.g. with local homemade breakfast and jam being provided and Manolis arranged for the village church to be opened for us so we had our own little private tour and saw the amazing Byzantine frescoes. It is a fantastic place to stay, such a beautifully restored house, almost like a local folk museum with its own little wine press and interesting things everywhere you look. The village is friendly with lovely little tavernas/cafes and you can cook for yourself ont he job or outside fire. Cosy fire inside for winter and lots of inside and outside space - amazing views of the mountains. Thank you!!

The house is truly something special. The interior and design of the house is super tasteful and combines traditional Crete with modern elements. Everything in the house was spotless and brand-new. The view from the terrace was breathtaking and the courtyard was very cosy. We can only recommend this gem of house at Crete. The location is a little remote but perfect to relax and enjoy Crete off the beaten paths. We hope we will come back. Also the village where the house is located is so picturesque. Amazing local tavern with great authentic food are in walking distance.

There is no way I can say enough great things about Gina and her place in the small amount of words given. She is the warmest, most generous host ever! The location is just above the beautiful village of Spili. The home is charming and has everything you need. She gives a breakfast of cereal and yogurt. Never had a host do that before. She leaves brownies and fruit in the room. Great beds! Bathroom shower is hot and strong! Bath towels large and fluffy. Gina has thought of everything! She has a washer and dryer. The home has a sitting room downstairs with a TV and lots of DVDs. She has maps, books and her own recommendations available. The outdoors has 2 terraces, an abundance of flowers and fruit trees. It’s in a very private setting and evenings are quiet for a good sleep. To sum it all up, when travelling in this area, Gina’s place is a must stay! I highly recommend it and would definitely stay there again! Thanks, Gina for a wonderful stay!
