In the summer season it is wonderful to swim in some of the pools that are in the river that flows in the terrain above the cabin. There is also an adapted swimming area in Lillevannet which is close by. Fishing is also possible in Nysætervannet.

Urke is a small village and has everything you need; great nature, hiking and swimming opportunities, shop with post and pharmacy, horticulture and own pub/cafe. The nature in the area is amazing. The Sunnmørsalpane encircles the village with majestic Slogen and Saksa which have become really popular after Sherpas from Nepal have made steps up through the ura. In the last few years, Urkeegga has also become a popular hiking destination. The mountains here are equally popular for skiing tourists during the winter as for mountain hikes in the summer.

The cabin is located near the ski resort (ski-in/ski-out) and nice groomed cross country ski tracks and light rail are just nearby. The area otherwise has great hiking opportunities on foot. Fjellsetra is a good starting point for many nice hikes in both summer and winter. It is also a good starting point for a day trip to Geiranger and Ålesund. In the summer you can also fish in Nysætervatnet (must buy fishing license).
