Exceptional river views

n the heart of the Loire Valley, along the Thouet River: a 700 square foot converted barn (newly renovated) with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The house is ideally-situated in the heart of the Anjou wine region, a few miles from Saumur (well-known for it's castle and the French National Horse-Riding School, ''Le Cadre Noir'', wine growers, and troglodytes sites). Also nearby: important castles in Angers, Chinon, Montreuil-Bellay, Brézé, as well as Europe's largest monastic center, the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud, which features an excellent music and cultural program. Other worthwhile day trips include the exquisite Loire Valley castles, such as: Chambord, Blois, Cheverny, Azay le Rideau, etc. The house, which is about 187 miles from Paris (300 km), or about 2 hours by TGV, can accomodate two couples with children (sleeps six altogether). The appartement includes : an entrance hall, a large sitting and dining room with a small equiped kitchen, one bedroom, a bathroom, and a small bedroom on a mezzanine level.

Our family of 7 enjoyed Anne's chateau so much. It's updated to have every modern comfort but offers loads of opportunities to feel immersed in the past. Anne is a gracious and helpful host, offering welcome gifts and local recommendations. Their family has owned the chateau for three hundred years and have taken great care with it. We couldn't have been more pleased with our experience.

Probably the best Airbnb we've ever stayed in: a very pleasant, well-maintained and equipped accommodation with several terraces that allow you to enjoy the sun or shade as desired. The pool at our disposal was a delight for the children and the area is full of gems to discover. And for that, Henri and Anne-Marie will undoubtedly be able to inform you. A special mention for the quality of the hospitality of our hosts with very touching touches. A big thank you!

Laurence is a wonderful, responsive and kind host. Her place is so comfortable and just like the photos. Clean clean clean! Loved my one month stay. With Les Halles just 5 minutes walk I cooked regularly and loved the gas stove. The shower and bathroom is brand new, nice towels, great pillows! She gets 10 stars! She brought me flowers, and homemade jam! Amazing. Will be back again. Merci Laurence pour votre accueil, vous êtes tellement super host! We had a lovely weekend of family reunion. The Orangerie de la Calvinière is very nice for two families. The accommodation is very comfortable and warm in every way: Thierry and Marion's welcome, the cleanliness of the accommodation, the quality of the amenities including a well heated house when the weather is rainy! We highly recommend this place to relax, share good times and enjoy nature.
