Vacation rentals with outdoor seating in Nieu-Bethesda

To see the workings of a multi-generational family farm, stay in a 170 year old house with beautiful high-quality furniture and fittings, and engage with a kind and gentle-natured farmer and his wife…was wonderful. A gentle desert rain arrived as we got there and set the tone for one of the most restful holidays we have ever had. The farmer’s 2 dogs popped in every now and again and made themselves part of the family. Richard and Anika were accommodating and quick to sort out anything we asked for. The house was spotlessly clean and filled with history from the 1800s. There was a sense of warmth with the people living / working on the farm as well. The drive to Nieu Bethesda was around 15min going up a gorgeous gentle pass which presented something new every time we travelled. The highlight of the stay was walking up the hill behind the house and sitting on the bench overlooking the farm, valley, and mountains at sunset. Thank you Richard and Anika (our kids say hi).

Mukhti is a absolutely incredible experience. The attention to detail in the house is unparalleled, the various areas are all perfectly set for the intended use and you find yourself enjoying the home in different layers be it relaxing by the pool, enjoying the stars from the braai / fire pit area, lounging on the stoep or enjoying some reading in the lounge. The kitchen is perfectly setup for enjoyable cooking experience with every utensil you could possibly need. If you are looking for a calm space to reflect and unwind I can highly recommend Mukhti and cannot wait for our next visit.

The Owls nest is located on the outskirts of the little town, has lovely surroundings. We have stayed at the location more than once & it’s always neat & tidy. The town has free roaming horses & sometimes goats which give it a lovely farm feel. The town is beautifully kept & neat, the locals have a lot of pride in their town.

This is the second time we have stayed at the Playwrite’s house and I’m sure there will be more. It’s cozy for a big group and is quietly nestled into the corner of Nieu Bethesda.

I usually take the traditional route between Cape Town and Johannesburg, stopping in Colesberg or Richmond. This time, I explored a new path and discovered Nieu-Bethesda—a hidden gem. The town’s gravel roads, fantastic restaurants, free-roaming horses, and the sound of owls at night created a magical atmosphere, especially while enjoying incredible lamb dishes. The highlight was my stay at Ludolf and Carla’s Airbnb. Their beautifully restored, pet-friendly home is tastefully decorated and equipped with every comfort. Thoughtful touches—welcome sherry, luxurious bedding, Africalogic amenities, homemade rusks, and fresh milk—made me feel truly pampered. Their property also features a stunning underground cellar for special events. Ludolf and Carla provided excellent communication and a detailed town map. Their hospitality, combined with Nieu-Bethesda’s charm, made this an unforgettable experience. I’m officially a fan and will definitely be back!

Stayed at Spandou Manor for the Stoep Tasting weekend. Stan is a fantastic host. The accommodation is perfect for a couples weekend away. Close to town and really peaceful. Highly Recommend.

What a wonderful stay we had. Impeccably clean with everything we needed for our stay. Electrical blankets for the chilly evenings were a bonus :) our host kept us informed with local recommendations and was always contactable. Check in and out was simple and quick.

Ticked all the boxes, comfortable budget friendly accommodation in a nice area of Graaf Reinet, which was perfect for my 1 night stay. Everything was great, off street parking, peace and quiet, very hot water, DSTV, and close proximity to CBD. Antonette was a fantastic host and I will certainly stay at Eagles nest again when I’m in Graaf Reinet again.

We stopped over here on route from Pretoria to George. It was such a blessing. Comfortable, beautifully furnished, clean, all the amenities you need as well as more to just make you feel looked after. It definitely brought us the rest we needed. Carina was also super helpful and provided a lot of information and assistance. Thank you for a lovely stay, would definitely recommend it. Beautiful town with lovely old houses and wide open roads with incredible nature surrounding it. We had a picnic breakfast at the valley of Desolation ( Make time to do so) before continuing our trip.

Wonderful place to stay! Dennis was friendly and very helpful. He ensured the aircon was turned on before we arrived (on a very hot day) and it was very easy to communicate with him. We would definitely stay here again.

Very nice accommodation well located. We arrived on a very hot day, the pool was amazing to cool down in and the rooms had aircon.

We had a great over night stay at Blaauwater Garden Cottage. The location is peaceful and beautiful. A comfortable and private cottage with everything which you might need. We went for a walk around the farm area and our son took his motorbike up to a mountainous lookout which was beautiful. Liesl was welcoming and helped us out with so many small requests. Thank you again Liesl! Highly recommended.
