Kid-friendly vacation rentals in New River Valley

Great location! While watching the sun rise over the mountains, we spotted a herd of deer grazing in a field beyond the fence line. Our dogs absolutely loved it here! It’s safe to say, The Dairy Barn is now our new favorite stop. Tasteful decor throughout. Nice kitchen ware. Neat refrigerator with soft lighting, beautiful gas stove with clear directions. If you don’t feel like cooking, we Highly recommend Pizza Perfect on Main (7 minutes down the road). Excellent pepperoni twists & homemade ranch dressing. Thanks again Rebecca and your crew for the clean & cozy stay!

Great place to rest your head! It had everything we needed, the toaster over and air fryer were bonuses. Plus toys so neatly out away, but easy to grab for my little one. The basement was so large and inviting! Our host was quick to respond and helpful as well. We would stay there again!

This place was amazing. House on a hill with vistas 360. Ezekiel could not have been more thoughtful when preparing the house. Completely stacked kitchen and not with cheap stuff- it was all high quality. Beds, furniture bathrooms were expertly done. My family had a wonderful time and getting to know Ezekiel was blessing to us. Wonderful host who truly cares. Pro tip- you are out there- bring what you need. Nothing is close and its totally worth it.

Highly recommend staying at this awesome Airbnb. The place was clean, comfortable, peaceful and a quick drive into town! The host instructions were great and we had no issues. Definitely would stay again!

Everything was exactly as described. We had 5 people, and the house was plenty big enough. I would highly recommend this home for anyone and everyone.

We absolutely loved our stay at Susan's beautiful victorian home. She was a great communicator and gave us detailed information to make things go smoothly. Her home was so lovely and well kept. It was beautifully decorated and filled with explanations and items that gave us a sense of the home's history. The grounds were will kept and filled will beautiful flowers and trees. The surrounding area was quiet and peaceful, with rolling hills and tree covered roads. Our rooms were spacious, with comfortable beds and linens. Susan thought of details that made our stay comfortable; electric fireplaces in each bedroom; Roku TV with easy access; many outlets for charging all of our tech; well supplied kitchenette & bathroom. We just loved everything about it and will definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

I could not have hoped for a better host. I was here for the fiddlers gathering and the location was perfect. This couple really know what they’re doing and they make you feel right at home like part of the family While still respecting their guest privacy. Outstanding, I already booked another stay with them.

this was a fun weekend trip we take every year to see our friends who live locally. We usually stay at hotels in Blacksburg or Christiansburg. This was cheaper than a hotel, we drove less and it was in a quaint little town. It was immaculately clean and had all we needed for a two night stay.

We enjoyed our stay at The Mill! The suite was far more spacious than we expected. Be sure to sleep with the windows open because the sound of the river reminds you of the beautiful setting in this charming town. The bed was very comfortable and there’s even a sitting area in the bedroom. We enjoyed morning coffee in front of the picture windows that provided a stunning view. We loved the restoration story and handmade features. Marcia was very easy to communicate with and made sure we were comfortable.

Absolutely love staying at Debra’s place. She is very accommodating and excellent communication. Super close to Virginia Tech. Home away from home!!!

Jamie was very responsive and kind!! Enjoyed my stay here, struggled with bug bites from some of the bedding but the stay was really nice overall and was spacious and clean.

Corey's Airbnb was a nice, clean, and spacious apartment. It's prime location allowed us to walk everywhere and explore Roanoke for an evening. We enjoyed the view from the apartment and playing a game of pool.

The space was bigger than I anticipated! Very comfortable and easy location plus parking.

Perfect for dog lovers and lake lovers! I’ve rented various condos at Smith Mountain Lake and several different ones at Stripers Landing, but Shannon’s place is now my new favorite. With a great view, plenty of space and the option to bring the pup - it’s such a treat. Highly recommend.

We would definitely stay here again. Bathrooms and kitchen were spotless. On a clear day we had a beautiful view of the mountains and the valley below. Quaint shopping in Fancy Gap. Check out the wings and a beverage at Creek Bottom Brewing in Galax. Short trip to Mt Airy NC. We left feeling refreshed.

“Tranquility Cove” is a perfect description of our restful & relaxing stay that my husband & I enjoyed during Mother’s Day weekend. Mary Anne is an exceptional host who provided for all our comforts with every amenity that we needed to enjoy a relaxing weekend at Smith Mountain Lake. The view of the sunrise over the lake & mountains along with the peaceful surroundings, access to the swimming pool & fitness center provided all that we needed for our dream-vacation-weekend. My husband & I have found our vacation destination at SML!

We had an amazing stay at SML. The location was very clean and well maintained. Everything that was advertised was accurate. There were tons of activities available around the lake. We would highly recommend this location to anyone interested in a peaceful stay near Roanoke, VA.
