Shekinah Hermitage: Peace at the Forest’s Edge

Shekinah Hermitage is at 8000ft. overlooking the Cibola N. F. This unique cabin looks into a canyon to the north, and eastward over the San Agustin Plains. Surrounded by juniper and pinion trees, it is very remote. Windows all around give the feel of being outdoors but the solid structure is immovable in high winds. Inside is all you need including limited solar-battery 120V electricity. There is an attached bathroom with a sawdust composting toilet. Outside a high deck offers stunning views.

Hiking + hot springs nearby, including Ghost Ranch, Poshuouingue ruins & Ojo Caliente Springs! Most pets are welcome (for a pet fee). This listing is for the private west side of Mother Earthship. The attached east-side casita, Raven’s Lair, is rented separately; both sides are private with only the driveway shared. Relax, unwind, and unplug with a beautiful view of the Manzano Mountains in our cozy cabin. Mountainair was known as the “Pinto Bean Capital of the World” in its heyday and our land was used for dry-land bean farming. Remnants of homesteaders can still be found on the property. We now enjoy this beautiful location to raise Scottish Highland Cattle and can’t wait to share it with you! Our cabin will fit 2 adults plus a child comfortably with a queen bed and twin sofa bed.
