The only thing better than the location was the overall experience with the host! Our car battery died as we were leaving and Erin was quick to give us a jump start. Lifesaver! This place is definitely on our list to come back to!

Had the opportunity to meet Austin in town- was extremely friendly, caring, and clearly has a passion for hosting. This air bnb experience was top notch & definitely the best one we have had. With personalized touches everywhere & attention to detail, we felt right at home. Our first experience in San Diego was amazing and we can’t wait to return! Would definitely rent from Chad and Austin again!

Great place - location of beach and park next door was perfect. Very responsive communication and friendly maintenance team to address normal “stuff”. Well stocked basic items and nice, modern working appliances. Kitchen well stocked too. Unique wide opening windows feel like the outside is inside. Lots of places to play or relax, which does invite late night activities near the home. All good except when sleeping. Once windows closed it’s quiet. Weekdays were very slow and quiet. Weekend had activity past 1am. Felt safe the whole time. Overall we would come back.

North Mission Beach w/AC, Parking, Ocean View Deck

LeslieRating, 5 stars3 days ago
This Airbnb has everything that you could possibly need and while it is a studio, it's actually roomy. There's a large, very comfortable king-size bed, but it doesn't feel like it takes up a lot of space. The couch is a pull-out bed as well, and it’s long enough to for somebody that's 5'6” or smaller to be able to sleep on it. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need including ice cube trays and a light underneath the microwave. So, it feels homey. There's a bar that has five chairs facing the strandway where you can see the glimpses of the ocean. There are plenty of plugs for gadgets. There's a closet that has all kinds of linens. Anything you could possibly need from extra blankets to extra pillows, extra towels. In the kids' room, there are bunk beds that are large enough for an adult to sleep on the bottom (5’6” or shorter). The bathroom is has nice lighting and a window that opens up the street. The patio outside has plenty of space for two to three people to sit.

Beach N’ Bay! Welcome to San Diego!

TinaRating, 5 stars2 months ago
My family of 5 stayed at Angie's place over Spring Break. Her place is located right on Mission beach between the Pacific ocean and Mission Bay. It was a quick walk to the ocean or bay depending on what weather and water we wanted! Ocean side had waves and wind while the bay was less windy and calm water to paddle board. Besides location the best thing about Angie's was all the beach supplies and toys! Bikes, paddle boards, chairs, cooler, wagon and more!! It all made our time in SD more enjoyable. We did rent a larger vehicle which was tricky to get in garage but backing in did work. Highly recommend!

Atoosa was super responsive prior to check in and throughout trip. The neighborhood is beautiful and nice to walk around (if you do not mind the hills!). We appreciated the porch with an awesome view and was very peaceful. The kitchen was the best stocked and kept up kitchen that we have encountered since the early days of Airbnb. Very clean, modern but cozy. Had a great stay and would recommend. Especially if you like to have some privacy and peace instead of being in town.

Great place to stay. A few highlights: - Parking spot can fit a Grand Cherokee (but no more than this), which is rare in this area - 2 out of the 4 mornings we saw dolphins fishing right in front the house!! - Great location with a good view (as advertised) and plenty of food and convenient stores nearby - Host provided good coffee If you need early check-in/outs make sure to communicate to them days ahead. Mattress is a bit too soft. All things considered, we had a great time at this place, would recommend it to anyone interested

Ocean Front Beach Condo

SheilaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We loved this place. even though it was cloudy and windy, the porch was our favorite place to be! We watched Sea Lions, seagulls, pelicans and surfers during our morning coffee and dusk wine sunsets. Location was also great, within 15 to 20 minutes we were able to explore so much during the 3 days we were there. If you can only do a couple of things I suggest spending a couple of hours at the Cabrillo National Monument $20 valid for 7 days, you can hike, visit the monument, light house, tide pools, visitor center, The view is spectacular! Then head to Old Town and ride the 2 hours trolley - hop on and hop off or enjoy the full ride. Mexican food galore or stop by Little Italy for some yummy pizza! It was our first time in San Diego, but we will be back for sure, and hopefully Rick's place will be available! also a bonus, you get to use the garage!

Your guide to Mission Beach, San Diego

All About Mission Beach

The Mission Beach neighborhood of San Diego, spanning just two miles of oceanfront, is a laid-back waterfront playground whose very history is grounded in fun. In 1925, an entrepreneur — credited with building San Diego into the bustling beach city it is today — decided an amusement park was just the thing to lure people to the Mission Bay area. Belmont Park featured thrill rides alongside a 60-foot saltwater swimming pool where famous celebrities swam. The park has changed significantly since then, but still draws crowds today. But wait, there’s more: The neighborhood is also home to a popular beach and Mission Bay Aquatic Center, the largest manmade aquatic park in the nation. The fun continues into the night, as revelers flock to local bars to partake in the neighborhood’s thriving nightlife.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Mission Beach, San Diego

In general, you can expect warm, sunny weather in the 60s and 70 degrees Fahrenheit nearly year round. However, from May to August it’s not unusual to experience marine layer — gray clouds, especially in the morning, which locals call June Gloom. From September through February you may experience Santa Anas, warm winds that can gust up to 100 miles per hour. Pack a sweater or light jacket to guard against winds or cooler evenings.

Top things to do in Mission Beach, San Diego

Belmont Park

Belmont Park has been modernized over the years, but rightly retains the vintage charms of a classic oceanfront theme park. Its crowning glory is a wooden roller coaster 75 feet tall at its highest peak that rockets screaming patrons at 48 miles per hour. Built in 1925, the coaster underwent an extensive upgrade in the 1990s and has since landed a spot on the National Register of Historic Places. The park also boasts modern thrill rides, as well as a carousel, bumper cars, an arcade, and midway games.

Mission Beach

Flanked by a two-mile boardwalk populated by joggers, inline skaters, and cyclists, and set against the backdrop of Belmont Park, vibrant Mission Beach attracts surfers and loungers in equal share. Nearby South Mission Beach offers volleyball courts as well as courts for a quirky sport that is sort of like softball on the beach, played with teams of three, and Mission Bay hosts a world championship every year.

Mission Bay Aquatic Park

Carved out of wetlands and marsh, the 4,235-acre manmade Mission Bay Aquatic Park accommodates just about every water activity there is. Surfing, paddleboarding, waterskiing, kayaking, windsurfing, sailing, and wakeboarding are all offered here, with equipment available to rent. Let your dog run free at an off-leash dog park on sand dune-covered Fiesta Island, where you can also find bonfire pits and picnic tables. If you’re not feeling sporty, tap into your inner mermaid and take a lazy dip in one of the designated swimming areas with alluring names like Enchanted Cove and Leisure Lagoon.
