Monthly Rentals in Mira River

The place consists of a country house divided into 3 different accommodations, we stay in the smallest. It has a small living room kitchen, a room with a double bed and a bathroom. The surroundings of the house are lovely, in the middle of the countryside, with many sheep coming to graze next to the house, lots of flowers and lots of nature. The sheep watchdog can be a bit noisy at night, and extremely friendly if it's loose. There was wood in quantity for the fireplace, we didn't get cold. The bed is double but I would say a little narrow, it would not highlight the comfort of the bed or the sofa. The road of arrival is a dirt road with some difficult parts, but any normal car should be able to pass. For two people it's great, I would go again. I was able to work remotely with the satellite internet.

We loved our 4 wonderful days at this beautiful home. Jennifer is the perfect hostess -and we enjoyed meeting her husband and kids in their lovely cafe in neighboring buildings. Great coffee (: The area is beautiful and local. Close to the small town. Great hiking and biking trails. We would love to come again.

A true hidden gem! This place is full of charm and character – you can feel the love in every detail. It’s a little secret hideaway… but probably not for long. The hosts were absolutely lovely and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome – truly special people. It's tucked away in the middle of nowhere (which we loved). Tip: maybe leave the Porsche 911 at home – the road in is more for wild hearts than low suspensions! Boho girls and nature lovers – book it before everyone else finds out!

We stayed 6 nights at Bas’ place and expected to use it as a base to explore the Alentejo region. Instead we found the home and the town to be so lovely, we only went out one day to the seashore (which was amazing even in mid April). Bas has created a space with everything you need, including a beautiful view, and we appreciated the artistic designs of the space and the furniture. The hilly quaint town of Odemira was beginning its April celebrations of justice and liberty and we were lucky enough to catch a concert of many local choral groups singing the Cante Alentejano style. As for delicious Portuguese food, try the cataplana de tamboril at O Tarros (we ate there 3 times) and the bola de berlim at cafe Rita. And of course, the Alentejano wines. What a treat to experience what Bas has discovered. And he made it so easy with great instructions and communication. Highly recommend!
