My place is close to great views of the Southern Alps and away from the hustle and bustle of city living. It is a peaceful country escape. 10 mins to Darfield & 20 mins to Rolleston, and 30 mins to Christchurch or Christchurch airport. My place is good for couples and families (with kids). We are only a few minutes away from the hot air ballooning and an hour from the ski fields. The nearest golf course is only 5 mins down the road with several others available in the Selwyn district.

Our place is great for couples. On navman route, we are 2 hours from Christchurch and 4 hours to Queenstown. Only 1 hour from Mt Hutt ski field and 1 hour from Mt Dobson ski field. Aoraki Mount Cook is 2 hours distance and Tekapo is 1 hour.

Thank you Nicole, we love to stay in your house... everything was amazing. Thank you for your little treats, we really appreciated that the kitchen was equiped so good with everything we could possible needed. Kids love their bedroom with books and cute bedding and they enjoyed to go through all the games and toys in the cabinet, you made their stay unforgettable and they were entertained for the whole time we spend in the house. Thank you once again.

Mt Somers was a quick little stopover so we could visit Mount Sunday. Hilary was a fantastic host and recommended a nice local restaurant for dinner. She even remembered the reason I was staying (to visit Edoras from LotR) and left a nice note. The home was super clean and tidy and felt very cozy. Would definitely recommend if looking to stay in Mt Somers!

Claire’s house was immaculate—spotlessly clean, beautifully designed, and incredibly well set up. It had absolutely everything we needed and more. From coffee plungers to an espresso machine, plenty of cutlery, mugs, glasses, and all the kitchen essentials—you could tell a lot of thought had gone into making guests feel at home. It felt more like staying at a friend’s place than a rental. We stayed with extended family (six adults and two kids), and at no point did anyone say, “I wish we had…”—it was that well-prepared. Everyone agreed it was probably the best Airbnb they’d ever stayed in. The house itself was spacious, warm, and cleverly laid out, with space to gather or tuck away into a quiet nook. The views over the mountains and fields were stunning, and the location was ideal—walking distance to the Ōpuke Hot Pools, nearby trails, and just a short drive to Methven town centre with its cafes and restaurants. Highly recommend. We’d absolutely stay again.

Beautiful little spot. I understand it was during Christmas vacation Just had issue with dishwasher that did not work and could not be fixed while we were there so hand wash for a week . No microwave either. Other than that very beautiful places with all you need. We were able to cook every nights with guests.

This home is in a beautiful and serene setting. It was about 1.5h from Christchurch airport and was the perfect antidote to the craziness of flying. At night, the only thing we could hear was the breeze and the gentle rain. I’d love to stay for a week. Annie was incredibly friendly and the welcome basket with homemade granola was tops. The basket also included potato chips made from the potatoes grown on the property! The kitchen was amazingly well stocked and my kid got to try Milo for the first time.
