Kathryn runs a cabin style house that handles 7 guests easily. The decor fits the setting and was just what my group wanted. She made our stay very comfortable and was not the hostess from the big city who you can’t reach or who relies on contracted help to support her guests.

The cabin was very nice and cozy. It had all the amenities that you needed and it was a great place for a quick get away!

Everything is just as described. Perfect place to disconnect from the world. Craig is an amazing host! I will definitely be returning next year. If you’re a fisherman, bring your gear. Plenty of pike in the lake but be advised entire lake is very shallow. Had good luck with a #4 Mepps-yellow/orange with a gold blade. Good cell service with Verizon. Dollar General just 5 miles away for any last minute needs. Thanks Craig!

We had a great time during our stay. The cabin was perfect for us and was directly across from a gas station and Andy’s Bar which had good food and atmosphere. Cabin was right on the snowmobile trail and had pull through parking which was great for the snowmobile trailer. Definitely would book again!

Another Great stay at Big Iron. A great place for an off the grid get away.

We had a wonderful time staying at the cabin! It was cozy, clean, warm, and had everything we needed. John and Melissa are incredibly kind and helpful and the location of the cabin was remote and peaceful. Would definitely stay again, it’s a great home base and perfect for exploring the surrounding areas!

My boyfriend and I came to stay here for the weekend and it was exactly what we were looking for! It was quiet, peaceful and relaxing. The bed and furniture was very comfortable and everything was very clean when we arrived. Would highly recommend!

A bit tricky to find the driveway due to the recent snow, but Kurt's directions were spot on and extremely helpful! The cabin was absolutely beautiful! Our trip ended up very memorable, with some great snowmobile riding for 5 of us, local skiing for 2, and a cozy craft day at the cabin for 1-something for everyone! And the views were beautiful and serene. Thanks for a great stay!

Even in March, you can’t beat walking through the back yard dunes straight onto the Lake Superior beach. The house has great space and splits well for 2 families to each have some of their own space. Tons of toys and games for the kiddos too!

Our stay at this property did not work out due to a broken furnace, but the host made sure we were taken care of for the first night and refunded the booking. Communication was top notch, and we are grateful for their willingness to fix an inconvenient situation.

This is a slice of heaven. The fall colors around the lake were breathtaking. Nice cabin, beautiful location, good host.

Overall, I give Bob and Linda’s lodge 5/5. It was exactly what I was looking for: an authentic off-grid UP experience. It’s clean and homey, and Bob and Linda are top notch hosts, going out of their way to make your stay a good one. If you’re looking for a great off-grid experience, this is it. However, it may not be for everyone. For example, we visited in October, and we had to heat the lodge through fireplaces as there is no central heating. I personally enjoyed that but can imagine others not wanting to deal with it. The lodge has an open concept floor plan, and I recommend guests consider sleeping arrangements carefully. While there are a ton of beds, there are few doors, and most sleeping areas don’t have one. So it may not be the best if you have people going to bed or waking up at different times.

This is the second time we have stayed here! The house has a perfect location, plenty of space, the kitchen is well stocked with spices and other helpful items to make the stay feel like I’m at home. The space is perfect for a group of people. Plenty of seating for everyone. David was very helpful with the snowfall during the stay to plow the driveway. Great communication, and very responsive. We will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend it, definitely worth the price!

The place was better than we expected! Lots of 'extras' that we weren't expecting. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook for our crew and more. There was plenty of space in the living rooms to sprawl out. If we ever need a place to stay in the area again, we would definitely book this beautiful home again!
