Private Studio w/kitchenette close to Beach & LAX

This is a great place to stay in El Segundo. It's in the quiet residential part of the city, and they have the entrance in a private gated patio that makes it feel safe and secluded. It had everything I needed for a week stay, including easy street parking right outside.

Romantic Ocean Retreat

TaNishaRating, 5 stars1 day ago
The only thing better than this property is the host, Rose. I made a last-minute booking, and she went above and beyond—offering attentive care before, during, and after my stay as if I’d booked well in advance. I was just grateful she accepted my late request, but her hospitality exceeded expectations. The location is fantastic: a clear ocean view and the sound of waves from a cozy patio, steps from the beach, and walking distance to cute cafes and a small Italian market. If you don’t snag street parking, a permitted lot is just a few blocks away (Rose provides the permit). The property was superbly spotless and felt like a true beach retreat. The shower is amazing, and thoughtful extras—like drinks, snacks, quality beach gear, and makeup washcloths (IYKYK)—made the stay even better.

13 Houses to the Strand

CristalRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
This place was perfect! Two blocks from the beach, great space, clean, private parking, Anne Marie was very helpful. This is the perfect place for two people who want to utilize the beach but still be close enough to the city incase you need to pop downtown. I would stay here again when I’m back in Cali, I highly recommend!

Perfect Beach Getaway

TiffanyRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
Nicole’s little bungalow was the perfect getaway for us and our small pup. The space is beautifully designed and felt just right for us. The WiFi was blazing fast, the guest amenities were so thoughtful (abundance of hangers, full length mirror, coffee pods, Bluetooth speaker, qtips, etc) and the parking was incredibly nice to have. We were there for a full week and no one was in the unit above. We worked from here and it was a bit challenging with two remote workers, but we made it work! The access to the beach is beyond perfection, the strand literally at your footsteps, a beach shack for a quick snack, and tons of other restaurants 10-30 mins away depending on your taste. It got a little stuffy on hotter days, but opening the slider was perfect to allow the cool coastal breeze to come through. I saw a little fan in the linen closet that would help with air circulation. Felt very safe in the neighborhood too. Can’t wait to stay here again!

Escape to Manhattan Beach

RasikRating, 5 stars1 month ago
A beautiful place in the heart of Manhattan Beach. The place itself is very clean, high end, and has a great view. The small details were great like extra towels and water bottles waiting for us in the fridge. It’s an easy walk to both the beach and restaurants. Highly recommend!

Your guide to Manhattan Beach

Welcome to Manhattan Beach

Manhattan Beach is a glamorous city surrounded by more low-key surf locales. While this place has hung on to a small-town feel and can claim plenty of surfer cred, it has leaned into a more glitzy interpretation of coastal living, with opulent seaside homes, upscale boutiques, and ritzy gastropubs. Manhattan wears its luxury character on its sleeve — think complicated cocktails served by a rooftop firepit — and is happy to have it both ways.

One of its most recognizable institutions is an unpretentious restaurant, advertised by a giant model of a cauldron hanging from a post on its roof, which slings burgers, fries, and giant stacks of pancakes. Spend the morning wandering the glossy home decor and clothing stores clustered near Manhattan Boulevard and then make your way to the beach, where volleyball courts and sun-warmed sand beckon. Watch surfers carve through the swells at the vaunted El Porto surf break, go for a dip in the cool water, and spend your evening dining on fresh seafood with a waterfront view.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Manhattan Beach

During the summer, Manhattan Beach pulses with surfers in wetsuits, beachgoers in bikinis, and sidewalks buzzing with outdoor diners and shoppers. The rest of the year isn’t too different: Southern California’s pleasant climate means the beach is active year-round, although winter is cooler and mornings are marked by marine layer — low-lying clouds that scuttle in from the ocean. Every year, usually in August, bleachers are erected on the sand and tens of thousands pour in for the Manhattan Beach Open, the only professional volleyball tournament in which amateurs can qualify to play.

Top things to do in Manhattan Beach

Manhattan Beach Pier

The city’s pier juts 900 feet into the water, offering panoramic views of the beach and surf. With bright blue railings and distinctive glass globe lights atop cement pedestals, it has a retro flair. You can fish off the pier year-round, as well as tread the Volleyball Walk of Fame, a series of bronze plaques commemorating the winners of the Manhattan Beach Open. Its tip offers superior sunset viewing, and benches lining the pier allow for leisurely wave-gazing any time of day.

The Strand

This popular pathway runs along the top of the beach and connects Manhattan to nearby Hermosa Beach in the south — the city’s shaggy surfer cousin — and Santa Monica to the north. It’s perfect for a leisurely stroll or pedal, so hop on this trail to ogle the palatial beach homes that guard the beach.

Light Gate

This glass and metal art installation at 14th Avenue and Highland Avenue is shaped like a giant keyhole — a big, flat orb with an opening in the center. Twice a year, on January 27 and November 14, the sunset aligns with the keyhole, and a gleaming ray of light courses through the center. The sculpture’s decorative glass panels create colorful prism-like refractions year-round.
