Monte Nido is nestled in the Santa Monica Mountains between Calabasas and Malibu, 5 minutes away from Pepperdine University in Malibu. You can walk to the Backbone trail head from our yard. The guest house has a private entrance, full kitchen, bath and french doors that open up to a private patio with a fountain. There is also a private deck for star gazing and afternoon naps. Perfect for hiking, biking, surfing, and relaxation. There are no streetlights or sidewalks. It is truly paradise.
“Lori’s place was a wonderful weekend getaway and peaceful retreat from the chaos of 2020. Lori and Bill were kind enough to give us an in person tour upon arrival, and were both wearing masks. It was easy to see their love and pride for the space. The indoor space had many amenities and thoughtful touches. The kitchen may look small, but has a stove, microwave oven, and dishwasher. We did not eat out as much due to COVID, and easily made several meals. The outdoor deck was a great space to enjoy the sun and the valley wind. It was very relaxing to watch and listen to the calls of birds who lived in a nearby tree. The property is also located near many hiking trails which can easily accessed.”

“The Pool House was Exquisite.... When we were looking for somewhere to stay for some serious R&R during our American West Coast Road Trip we set our minds on The Pool House for a 5 night break, mainly due to the fact it was in up in the Malibu hills and we knew it would have the serenity we were looking for and we were not disappointed. The Pool House was located down the hillside below the main house and this gave total privacy and although we knew our hosts were only a few steps away we felt completely secluded. The Pool House itself was a dream. The views were simply breathtaking and waking up to that view of the sea and mountains each morning was just a dream. The Pool House had everything you could want. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you would require, the lounge area had some amazing pieces of furniture and a office work desk for those of us who like to do some work whilst on holiday ;-). The bed was super comfy and al amenities for the bathroom were also provided. The outdoor space was fab - The sun was on the terraced area all day and there is plenty of sunbathing furniture to use. The use of the top deck pool area was the icing on the cake. Malibu also has some pretty cool restaurants located in the main drag, but the Hosts have all this covered along with may more recommendations in the Welcome Booklet within the Pool House. The welcome touches and handwritten note from the hosts on arrival were very well received and they also checked in (via email to give us total privacy), several times during our stay to make sure we were ok. We simply did not want to leave……. If we are every on the west coast again then The Pool house will def be my choice.”

“This was the perfect getaway for my little family of three. We are LA locals and needed an escape from the stress of COVID. This fit the bill perfectly. It’s decorated beautifully and has such a rustic boho charm. It’s so comfortable both mentally and physically (beds, views from the little private patio). It’s a quick drive to the beach or hiking trails of which we did both everyday. My husband is a surfer and it was his first time surfing in 6 months (2 surgeries) so this was a great intro back into the water. It has a little kitchenette, but not really a kitchen, but it was all we needed. We’ll definitely be back the next time we feel the urge to get away.”
