Family-friendly vacation rentals in Machico

Stayed for 6 nights in April. The house, it's location and Seixal were all fantastic. The heated pool was a real luxury and brilliant to see it in included in the price.

The place was beautiful in a very quiet location with stunning views. Everything was clean and furnished with love so that you can only feel comfortable from the first moment. It had everything you need, we also loved the many kitchen utensils and the grill, which we used every day. The terrace with whirlpool, lounge, loungers and table were the highlight. We spent a lot of time in the accommodation because we felt so comfortable. The beach Calheta is 5 minutes by car easy to reach and highly recommended. We also loved the private parking. Bruno and Maria are very accommodating and also asked how we are doing and if we need anything. The location was perfect for us, very quiet, lots of privacy and yet we can get everywhere by car. Leonel’s home was beautiful and exactly as pictures. Leonel met us at the property and shared lots about the area and had wonderful recommendations. The house had lots of space for 2 or a family and it is very close to lots of beautiful activities. We had a wonderful stay.

Carlos’s place was fantastic! We really enjoyed our stay – the property was beautiful, comfortable, and exactly as described. The location was perfect, and everything was well taken care of. The apartment was perfect for our family, a great base to explore the island. Well equipped for a family though we only used for breakfast, eating out in the many local restaurants . The bakery downstairs is fabulous , serving breakfast, lunch and snacks..

I think this is one of the best scenic app on the island. I have not seen such spectacular sunsets anywhere. The pool is perfect for swimming after tours. There is also a gym, overlooking the ocean that my husband used. The only thing to know is that it's a good idea to bring earplugs because a garbage truck arrives across from the bedroom quite early in the morning. But that shouldn't discourage you from booking. Graca is also a flexible host and allowed us to stay 4 hours longer because we had a late evening flight. Thank you!

Great apartment. Everything as described. Tip...bring some shower/bath gel or buy some locally. There was only little bottles of shampoo. This was to start you off when you arrived, but, if you feel like a shower after a long journey it would be nice to have just a couple of small bottles of gel just for the initial shower or bath. It was quite noisy when we stayed with very loud building works with an excavator loading and crashing rocks and boulders into the lorries and travelling right past the apartment loaded with all of those 🥺 This was at the front of the apartment, so although we couldn't use the balcony there: thankfully the bedroom was at the rear of the property, so a lie in was possible when the work started early in the morning. However, this may not be the case for any future guests as they may have finished the works before they arrive. Other than this problem, we had a great time on this beautiful island ( our 8th visit and our first time in self catering)

Maria’s 8th-floor apartment was perfect! Super clean, spacious, and the balcony had amazing views of the marina, Santa Catarina park, and the city. It has two bedrooms — one with a double bed, the other with two singles — both with private bathrooms and closets. There are three bathrooms total, all spotless. The kitchen had everything, plus a dishwasher and coffee machine. Laura, who welcomed us, was so kind and helpful. She messaged me before arrival, arranged parking, explained everything in the apartment, and even brought us a big bottle of water and fresh coffee capsules the next day. She also gave great local tips. The building has great security and private parking. Honestly, the whole stay was smooth and comfortable. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Madeira — close to everything!

Everything was great! Perfect location

this place was great! it's in a cute area bear ponto do sol, lots of parking, and just a short walk from some hikes. Rodrigo was very helpful and responsive, the place was great, and his cat is so cute and friendly!

We absolutely loved being right on the ocean! It was within feet of the house!- with the waves crashing and the patio where we ate all our meals, provided an excellent ambiance for our trip. We stayed 6 nights and were so glad we didn’t move around to other places. The promenade next to the house is very scenic and offered a one mile round trip walk along the ocean . Watching the surfers was also a plus.

Family home, nice in a very nice quiet village without a car. We fell in love with Jardim do Mar, its small alleys with its typical gardens! Thank you Sofia, we felt at home 😊🙏

The house is perfect. Only minus was the road renovation project, 2 times during our stay. To walk the dog nearby was a small problem, but driving further solved the problem. Veronica answered our questions promptly. Thank you for a good holiday. Small villages nearby are worth visiting, Ponta do Sol as well is very interesting.

We had a lovely stay with the five of us. It lacked nothing, really everything was present (even a cheese slicer, nice for a Dutchman😅). Also a lovely outdoor area with enough furniture for all of us. Highly recommended. I would love to come again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at BHF Residence. Odette was a wonderful host, checking in with us to make sure we had everything we needed and responding immediately to a mix up with our keys. The residence is located in a quiet, peaceful neighbourhood with a view of the ocean, and easy access to restaurants and stores as well as some of the better hiking trails. The layout of the house is perfect for two couples, had all the amenities one would want and everything was super clean. Would highly recommend staying here.

We felt very relaxed and comfortable at Antonio’s lovely house and the garden and views were impressive. We appreciated the interesting features in the garden with its nature feel and enjoyed the pool and sauna which we thought was a real asset for the place. The house is interesting and cared about and Antionio was an excellent and helpful host. We were glad of the car we hired to access shops, restaurants, beach and walking areas as without one would be difficult but it suited us really well as 4 adults who wanted a base from which to explore Madeira.

I had a very pleasant and good stay at the Hillside Villa. At arrival I got very well received by Elvio at the villa. He explained everything good and gave some tips and advice for my stay. The communication is very good with Mandy an Elvio. Friendly and respons was fast. They give you the feeling your stay is important to them. The Hillside Villa was very clean and very well equipped. The pool is heated and nice also to use on a bit colder day. The garage is big enough for a medium to big size car. The street to the garage is a bit small but doable. So a bit of a challenge with a big size. Further the outside door space was clean and very useable with different place to seat during the day with sun. The neighbors are very nice people. Thank you for everything Elvio and Mandy.

This was by far the best AirBnB we’ve ever stayed in. Antonio was so helpful from the very beginning (he sent lots of info ahead of our arrival), made sure we could check in in the morning after our early flight and welcomed us personally at his lovely house with pool and all amenities one could look for (specifically in the kitchen and bathrooms, where we found all types of equipment, shampoo, tissues etc). The beds were comfortable, the view was stunning. We were a group of 6 and enjoyed cooking together (particularly barbecuing outdoors), but the house offered many peaceful corners for each of us to relax in, too. We also really appreciated Antonio‘s recommendations for hikes and other things to do on the island. Thanks a lot for everything!!

The Bauhaus-style house leaves nothing to be desired. We immediately felt very comfortable. The house is very well maintained and in mint condition. All necessary equipment is available. The house was the entire house and the terraces were very clean including the bathrooms. The pool was heated as agreed and the cover also kept the temperature very well. Fatima introduced herself to us briefly on the second day, she is very nice and we immediately had a very friendly relationship. We were even allowed to try some tomatoes from her local garden. If you want to spend a relaxing vacation with pool time and hiking, you are in good hands there. We will be back!

Exquisite location set back in the hills on a garden estate, surrounded by Jasmine and all manner of tropical flora. Trips into central Funchal are straightforward - 10 mins by car. We didn't wait longer than 5 minutes for a Bolt taxi and dined out in town most evenings. Taxi fee 4-9€. Pool was fine in late May. Highly recommend if you're after a peaceful, secluded stay close to amenities.

We travelled from the Azores to Madeira and later around mainland Portugal - this was by far our favourite place to stay during our honeymoon. Likely the best AirBnb we have stayed in to date. Duarte was a gem! He was helpful, generous, and delightful to be around. Google Maps brought us to another location but Duarte was incredibly responsive and we were quickly able to navigate Arco da Calheta. He offered vegetables from his garden and a beautiful welcome basket - we could barely finish all of the amazing bananas and eggs that he gifted us! The house was so well-equipped that we did not want for anything - the night we made espada BBQ in the outdoor kitchen was one of the highlight meals of our trip. This place was a beautiful and sunny sanctuary during our trip; we even cancelled several Levada walks to spend more time by the pool overlooking the ocean at home. If we could do it all again, we would book more time here.
