Family-friendly vacation rentals in Lake Wakatipu

Jason and Scott are truly Great hosts. Their cottage is amazingly lovely, clean, with a wonderful view and complete amenities. All we need are readily and conveniently available. Instructions are clear, and the place is indeed very guest-friendly. We had a homey and very special experience. The SPA is also a great deal and the view is breathtaking. We will be back, and hopefully longer stay. Thanks to them for sharing their place; we, as a family, just made another priceless memory.

Martin’s place offers stunning views of the lake and surrounding mountains. It’s about a 15-minute walk into town, which was a bonus given the current traffic and parking challenges in Queenstown. We especially appreciated the electric Weber BBQ - it worked brilliantly. Thanks for hosting us, Martin!

The house was amazing! It was perfect for a large group from 7 month olds to 70 years old. Very clean and comfy beds. Will deffo stay here again. Thanks Peter.

Beautiful place with the most amazing view. We were 3 families with 6 kids in total and they fit perfectly in the bunk room. Everything felt so luxurious and comfortable, especially the high quality beds. Our kids loved the place!

We stayed for three nights at the lake house. Kylie was super easy to communicate with and arrange the booking and check-in instructions . The house is spectacular and has a beautiful feel to it with amazing views relaxing hot tub easy lake Access and just a short walk that we enjoyed doing with our kids into Queenstown . We absolutely loved our time at the lake house and we can’t wait to book again maybe during the ski season thank you very much Kylie and Michael .

We are so thankful for Vickie’s hospitality. It was cosy and just what we needed for accommodation. As a base for Queenstown. The views were incredible and peaceful plus the property backed right onto a wonderful trail. We couldn’t have asked for a better host. My family and I absolutely loved Kaye’s home!!! It was in the most perfect location. I loved walking down the hill right into town every morning while taking in the stunning surroundings. Truly this was one of my favorite airbnbs ever. The kitchen also felt like home with everything you could possibly need to cook!! The views from the living room/kitchen are stunning!! You will see the most incredible sunsets. Kaye really goes out of her way to make sure you feel comfortable at this Airbnb and it showed!! We will definitely be back!! Thank you (:

A wonderful stay within walking distance to town. Despite being on a road, we were not bothered by any noise.

Photos don’t do the view justice. Jeremy was a great host. This is a cabin type experience. We stayed in the winter and used the cottage as a home base for skiing and other activities which was great. Quick ride over to Arrowtown and Queenstown but far away enough to feel private and peaceful. Some important points regarding previous reviews I read about the place being “cold”…the ground floor is all slate stone…as Jeremy recommended, just bring some sandals or slippers to wear around. There is a large heat pump, a lovely pot belly stove, and space heaters and all the beds have blanket heaters which we actually didn’t use because they were too hot…so it’s easy to stay warm and the view and coziness are well worth it, but if you’re expecting a thermostat in a hotel room that you set and leave…this wouldn’t be the place for you. We loved our stay and the host was very responsive.

Stu’s guesthouse was a lovely getaway in New Zealand! Close to Queenstown, ZQN airport, and to many outdoor activities. Very peaceful and private, soft linens, and felt right at home. It’s clear that this is not a cookie cutter Airbnb, but a real guesthouse, and it shows in the fit and finish of the property, and Stu’s helpful and kind approach to hosting. I would stay again in a heartbeat!

Check in is easy, spacious apartment, although sofabed is not the most comfortable (as the description), i did slept very well on it. located within the wanaka town. However there are some half eaten chocolate in the chocolate jar and a frozen chocolate milk in the fridge? Maybe it is leftover that have been left by previous guest. So cleanliness on that part might need to be improved, other than that everything was perfect.

We had a great time at this place. It is a beautiful and cozy place. Unfortunately we had only 1 day to spare here. Would definitely recommend staying more and also coz Wanaka itself is such a small cute town.

Walking distance from the airport and shopping mall, very quiet given how close it is to the airport. We had a very comfortable stay and would definitely recommend this place. I left a sweater behind and Wendy arranged to ship it back to me. Thanks again Wendy.

Great house. Clean, light, cozy and very well stocked. Location is central and walkable to everything yet tucked away from the main road. Great view of the mountains. The hosts are fantastic and very communicable.

A cozy and modern cottage with a terrace where you can enjoy spectacular view of the city. Instructions for check-in are clear and the host is easy to communicate. The only downside is that you have to rely on the lift to access the house. Unluckily the down button didn’t work when we left the apartment and we had to walk downhill (a short walk but with luggage it’s not possible). The house is nicely equipped but if there could be a washbasin in the kitchen area it would be great. Overall it’s an enjoyable experience.

Bridget is amazing host. She was responsive throughout the stay. Great location right in front of the lake. We enjoyed our stay in Queenstown. Place is also close to the restaurants and iconic places. Great place to park 2 big SUVs. I would recommend this place for your stay in Queenstown. Thanks

Fantastic stay at Paula’s house. Great home for our family and had everything we needed. Local Bakery and Four Square just down the road. Added bonus that we got to use the Community pool, it’s a great set up for families. The weather was perfect and we got to use the pool everyday. Would highly recommend staying here

Fantastic location, clean and tidy. Lovely and warm on cooler evenings. So handy being 2 minutes walk to the Cadrona pub for dinner.

We had a wonderful stay at Tracy's home! Upon arrival, we were in awe of the modern property and beautiful surroundings. There was a blend of rain and sun during our stay, so we took advantage of every space. The home's interior is both contemporary and comfortable, with a sitting room and living room on one end and bedrooms and bathrooms on the other. A great layout. The outdoor space is generous, with a large deck, roomy seating area, and excellent pool to take in the mountain views. If you're lucky, you'll get a visit from the adorable neighborhood cat. This home was in a great central location for all of our activities – close to the action, yet far enough away for peace and seclusion. We hope to return someday!
