Reel Rustic Retreat

ZacharyRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Reel Rustic Retreat is an absolute gem! It works perfect for our annual fishing trip to Lake Fork. Kathy has just about every amenity a family could need in a cabin. The Grill, ice machine, and dartboard were all awesome to have during our stay. If you need a place to stay on Lake Fork, Reel Rustic Retreat is it. Kathy and Chris are superb owners and made themselves available every step of the way.

Fishin' Hole

TjRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Terri has an awesome set up here. Doesn’t matter if you’re fishing or just needing a place to stay, this is the rental for you. It has an awesome boat/fisherman setup. It includes covered boat parking with pull down extension cords, steps to get in your boat, and plenty of parking. The inside is amazing as well. Plenty of top notch recliners to relax in after fishing all day. And the best part was having 6 separate beds! We will definitely be back and would highly, highly recommend Terri’s place to anyone!

Waterfront Oasis! Beautiful deck & dock. Swim/dogs

KevinRating, 5 stars2 weeks ago
My wife and I along with another couple were thoroughly satisfied with!!! We would return! Other than going out for breakfast at the quaint and charming The Roost” in Eustace we did all our meals on the grill and/or kitchen. TV worked great! Everything was as good or even exceeded our expectations! Highly recommend this place for quite relaxing.

We had a wonderful stay at the bluegill lake cabins! The location was perfect, with easy access to the lakes. The property was impeccably clean, and the host, Kevin, was incredibly helpful and responsive. The kitchen was well-equipped, and the beds were comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the spacious balcony where we could relax and enjoy the views. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this property to other travelers!"

LynnRating, 5 stars1 month ago
This was a great stay and we will definitely book here again when in the area. The host was lovely and so easy to communicate with; she went out of her way to make sure we had what we needed and felt at home. I would recommend this cottage to others for sure! It's quiet and right near their private pond. We could not have asked for a better stay. Thank you!!

Comfortable Cozy Getaway!

KiahRating, 5 stars1 month ago
I have zero complaints about my stay at this beautiful cabin. It was very peaceful and quiet. If you’re someone who likes nature and loves to be surrounded by water, then this place is for you. I appreciated how quick Khira responded to any question that I had, and she was very flexible on my check in time. I felt right at home and stress free immediately. It also helps that the pictures give you an accurate image of what the place looks like. I will say that this place is in a small town so you will need to bring your own food. Luckily there was a Brookshires 2 miles away that had everything I needed. Overall I completely enjoyed my stay and I would definitely stay there again. Thank you so much Khira.

We loved the lakeside cabin! So cozy especially with all the rain! My husband and brother-in-law really enjoyed being able to step out the back door to go fishing. Close to Canton and several other really cute Texas towns for antique hunting, great restaurants, etc. We will definitely go again!!

Lake Fork fishing getaway

HeidiRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We came here for a couple nights while on a family trip. Overall, we definitely enjoyed ourselves. If you want to see the lake you have to walk or drive at least a quarter mile which isn’t bad. As far as cleanliness is concerned, the house could stand a good cleaning. It wasn’t very clean but we still had a great stay and enjoyed ourselves. The yard wasnt kept up but someone came and mowed it while we were gone one day. Overall, a really cute little place to stay.

The Place at the Lake

TarynRating, 5 stars6 months ago
This was a great place for a weekend with friends and family to hang out by the water. There was a decent amount of cleaning we had to do at check out that was required despite the cleaning fee. Other than that, the place was beautiful and Evan was very responsive and accommodating which we really appreciated. I would absolutely stay again!

Stunning Modern Home with Pool and Hot Tub Heated

ShelbyRating, 5 stars1 month ago
This home is beautiful, located in a wonderful and peaceful spot, and is gorgeously decorated. Our host, Karla, was very friendly and willing to help with any questions we had. My family of 9 stayed for spring break and enjoyed spending time making memories here, knowing we will be back again! Only recommendation for this home would be to update the listing title as it states a heated pool and hot tub, but there is no hot tub. The hot tub area was considered a kids pool, which our kiddos definitely enjoyed it. Overall, this listing is a great family home, very spacious, and allowed for everyone to feel at home. Book here and you won’t regret it!

Magnificent Escape on 400 Acres

ElizabethRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
I brought my 4 daughters by birth and my 3 daughters by marriage plus 3 nursing boys. Two of the husbands watched the other 7 children , so shout out to them. All the girls and I felt like we were spending the night in the Biltmore. Being surrounded by the cows was a treat. It didn't matter that the weather was horrible that weekend. We enjoyed just sitting around in the house. Thanks so much.

Your guide to Lake Tawakoni

Welcome to Lake Tawakoni, Texas

Nearly 200 miles of shoreline gird this reservoir, which provides water to the Dallas metro area 77 miles west. Unsurprisingly, visitors to its state park tend to make a splash swimming, fishing, and boating (kayaks and pontoon boats dominate). But the area has other charms, too, from geocaching to mountain biking trails. Birders also flock Lake Tawakoni to spot rusty blackbirds, indigo buntings, and ruby-throated hummingbirds amid terrain ranging from tallgrass prairie to post oak savannah. And don’t forget to look for dragonflies in the wildflower meadows. Together the towns of West and East Tawakoni number around 3,000 residents. So this is not a bright lights, big city destination. But if you want to kick back, chill out, and cast a line for striped bass or crappie, this lovely lake makes for a great getaway.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Lake Tawakoni

The year starts cold here, but warms up to pleasant daytime highs in May. That’s a key time for outdoor adventures, before summer descends like a slap from a wet towel. Not only does the thermometer rise, but the humidity makes it muggy. Travelers with flexible schedules should wait out the peak stickiness and aim to book a cabin here efor the first two weeks of September.

Lake Tawakoni focuses more on natural beauty and less on events programming. So look to nearby Canton, 35 miles south, for one of the country’s largest flea markets (Thursday to Sunday before the first Monday of each month). Or head north 25 miles to Greenville, which hosts April’s Hunt County Fair and October’s Bob Wills Fiddle Festival.

Top things to do in Lake Tawakoni

The Texas Woofus

Sixty miles west of Lake Tawakoni, a funky, fake-mythological statue presides over Fair Park, a National Historic Landmark. Created for the 1936 Texas Centennial Exposition, the Woofus mashes up the state’s livestock staples. It boasts a hog body, plus a horse neck, turkey tail, duck wings, and the head of a sheep. It’s crowned by the headgear of the state’s official large mammal, the Texas longhorn.

Texas Triffid Ranch

Keep the cryptid kicks going 15 miles south, home to Dallas’s “pretty much only carnivorous plant gallery.” While the name riffs on ambulatory science fiction shrubs that prey on people, the ranch actually crafts unique enclosures for sundews, butterworts, pitcher plants, and other flora that consume insects or animals. This lush, loony space welcomes the public for open houses and by appointment.

The Traveling Man

Three giant robot installations preside over the boho Dallas neighborhood of Deep Ellum. One shows the stainless steel hero rising up from the earth. Another iteration lounges and jams on a guitar, while the last is frozen mid-stride. But don’t stop there: this soulful section of the city has at least 50 more street art masterpieces, including Jolly, a steampunky smoker that still makes a mean brisket.
