Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Lake Tarawera

This was our favorite place we stayed at in NZ. Kerry and David’s place is in a great location albeit off a busy street. The beds were very confortable and the kitchen was well stocked. All the extra touches made us feel welcome as soon as we stepped in theough the door. We had an issue with the keys and they came right away to help resolve it in person. Super nice and responsive hosts. Highly recommend!

It was a very good place to stay. Graham and Sarah are very friendly, easy to talk and helpful couple. They have thought of everything for a comfortable stay. They have horses, cows, sheep and pigs that we could feed - the kid loved it. The bunk beds were a big hit for my kid. I would stay here again next time I go to Rotorua and I wouldn't need to go anywhere,I could stay the whole day at this house. There is so much to do games, BBQ, table tennis etc etc.

We loved Mark’s house! Mark was the best Air BNB host we have ever had. His daily fresh bread was amazing and much appreciated. Mark really cares about the people staying in his house. Thank you for a great trip!

We had a fabulous stay at Sam’s place! All of the activities we planned were no more than 15 minutes via car. The heating units came in handy during the evening, but the bedding provided ample warmth. The best part were the views; nothing beat the sun rising right in front of the bed!

I booked for 8 adults, it has only one floor and no stairs. So my elderly parents are suitable for this house. The house size is decent, 4 rooms are very good for us. At the backyard, there is a lemon tree, and the view is very beautiful. Not to mention there is a jacuzzi for relaxation. There is a washing machine and dryer, which is convenient. I think the owner is a Chinese and the instructions in the kitchen contain both English and Chinese. The kitchen should include a pair of scissors, just for convenience. There is a pool table in the garage, that's very nice. We are happy to stay in this house for 2 nights.

Danny's place is extremely high quality. It was warm and cozy and the bed was very comfortable. The views are beautiful. Highly recommended.

The Starling Box is definitely the best Airbnb we have ever stayed in! Janina is an exceptional host - she gave us a lovely, warm welcome and showed us all around her beautiful, modern home. The home itself is clean, well appointed and has all the comforts of home. We appreciated the extra touches that are evident throughout the house that make everything cozy and comfy - from warm blankets to a well kitchen stocked with delicious breakfast items, coffee, tea and snacks. The space is peaceful and inviting, and you can feel the love that went into every detail of this fantastic Airbnb. Thank you Janina, for welcoming us with open arms and making our stay in Rotorua so wonderful. We will definitely be back!

Geraldine’s house was gorgeous. On arrival we were absolutely blown away by the location and her beautiful home. So many lovely welcoming touches like the stereo playing, lovely scented fragrances, freshly baked cake, coffee pods, chocolates and delicious breakfast goodies in the fridge which we weren’t expecting. We felt at home immediately. An abundance of firewood was also available to light the fire which made the house very cosy. On the morning of our departure, Geraldine messaged us to offer a complimentary late check out which we greatly very appreciated. We had a wonderful time in Rotorua and Geraldine’s home was the icing on the cake. We look forward to returning again one day.

Kristin has been great with communication, offering early check in as soon as the place is available. Location is excellent, lake front, next to many restaurants and most importantly, 3 min walk to Wai Ariki hot spring which is the main reason for our visit to Rotorua. Note though because of the proximity to Eat Street - Friday night particularly can be very noisy , music well into 1am . The pull out couch at the study does sleep the 5th guest, but the study is more a recess from the kitchen area, so whoever sleeps there bring eye mask and ear plugs.

This was a great airbnb with a lovely and helpful host! We had the best time.

Susie's loft is spacious and comfortable, and only 5 mins walk away from the lake. Smooth check in and out. Would love to stay again!

And the electric blanket was a blessing.” - says mum If you’re looking for a comfortable resting place with tasteful decor, luxurious & unique additions like a towel warmer rack, homemade jams, Netflix on tv, extra pillows & cushions, actually nice smelling bathroom products, a cookie jar & coffee machine, fruit from the garden if you’re lucky, filtered spring water every day, and a little lovely breakfast bar, look no further than Janey’s place. So many extras I hadn’t expected, Janey went above and beyond to accommodate my mum and myself with such warmth & kindness. Oh did I mention the water view from the rooms? Spectacular. We stayed 4 nights and loved coming back to being able to have dinner at home, even with a kitchenette, some extra cooking appliances from Janey helped, she was just so thoughtful! Thank you Janey, you made our trip with your hospitality. Highly recommend.

The place was lovely, well appointed, nice & cosy in winter. Lovely hosts who were very responsive and let us know about the Matariki drone show. Highly recommend.

An excellent location and extremely helpful host. The space is spotlessly clean and solid value. The cats were adorable and gave the place character. Way better than booking a motel room ...it felt safe and cosy. Highly recommended and we will book again.

Beautiful location with scenic views over the lake. The studio is really well equipped and the small details really made a huge difference - electric blanket in the bed and snacks for hungry hikers. We loved mountain biking in redwood forest and then coming back to watch the birds on the lake. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

The checkin instructions were very clear and it was extremely easy to get in and get settled. The place had almost everything we need. It’s very spacious and the sofa was comfortable as a bed. The lake is very close by and serene. The places is very close to the redwoods. Definitely recommend this place.

Sussan was a fantastic host, welcoming and friendly. Her home was clean and tidy. Comfortable bed and yummy breakfast. I had everything I needed and more. I was walking distance from the conference and places to eat. Great if you're tired from a big day! We had lovely chats and I left with a gift feijoa's, which made my day. Thank you for a wonderful and easy stay, with a 'home away from home' feeling.

Nice modern apartment in a great location for the cbd, parks, lakeside and bars and restaurants, quiet location and well worth a visit when visiting Rotorua

I really recommend staying at Barb's place, it's got everything you would need for a short or longer stay. There's lots to do in the area and Barb gave some great recommendations and helpful information. As a host Barb is the best I've ever had, fast response time, friendly and very helpful, she really goes above and beyond!
