Lake houses in Lake Sara

I used to live on Vandalia Lake, so I knew what to expect from the location - but the house is much nicer than pretty much anything else you'll find in Vandalia. It was the perfect place to spend the weekend while celebrating my granny's 82nd, and it's very likely we'll rent it again in the future, assuming it remains available for that purpose. The main living/kitchen/dining area is wide open and great for hanging out without feeling cramped, and the screened balcony/patio is a lovely place to enjoy the outdoors without being forced to "enjoy" the bugs. Everything is light, airy, modern, and well-maintained. This isn't one of those listings where the photos look great and the reality is worn and dirty - what you see is what you get.

The place was perfect for a long weekend visit with our granddaughter. The house was comfortable, well stocked with games and entertainment options. It had easy access to the local park and a short drive to numerous state and federal parks with miles of trails and lots of waterfront activities. Plenty of shopping and restaurant options just a short drive away.

We enjoyed our weekend at Charming Victorian Getaway! The house was very clean and well maintained. The host was amazing - welcoming and made sure everything was an easy process for us! We will definitely be booking with Lauren again for our future trips!

This place is amazing! Lots of room to spread out, games to play for kids and an amazing water front and back yard. Will definitely recommend to family and friends in the area.

We enjoy this place so much! On the water with safe surroundings. The stairs are alot scary for little children but we just blocked it off. Loved the extra seating they provide. Made eating together easy. Only thing I wish was available about this rental is to be per friendly. Would love to bring our dog Tess with us. But the little frenchy pups that run around were so sweet. They came to visit daily! Thanks so much for sharing you little escape with us.

The place continues to be a peaceful retreat while visiting a chaotic family. We always check for this location first when planning a trip to the area.

This is a diamond in the rough! Beautiful place to stay! Very clean, beds are very comfortable, full bathroom, one walk in shower and 1/2 bath upstairs. We could even take our little dog! Has a beautiful view of the lake and birds and fun to watch the squirrels play. We will be back!

the stay was kinda lonely away from family they had to travel to see us vise/ versa the home was beautiful and warmth just would love to have experience it in the spring / summer time I bet it's so fun we had a kitchen fire in our own home so we are great full to have came out of their alive and our fur baby as well and for Heidi to allow us into her home for a few months I thank her so much! the residents of keysport were like a hallmark movie the way I will describe it I've met a few people and neighbors exchange a number or 2 the local dollar general absolutely the best customer service I would literally drive all the 45 mins to an hour just to see them I gotta say the food around their was good though the the key restraunt closed down on us but we did get to enjoy the best food we've had in awhile their hopefully it will reopen ! the mr at the gas station friendly helped me out th the jeep along with other residents in passing holding the door to walking me out

This is our second time staying here as a family. There are several reasons we came back: check in and out is very easy; the space accommodates our extended family very well; there is direct lake access though you have to be aware the path is “natural“ and as Doug has said in other reviews, they do not have control over improving the path; the space was very clean and all the essentials are provided; Doug is very responsive and got back to us very quickly when we had minor questions! We would highly recommend staying here, as long as it doesn’t interfere with the time we want to come back😁

The house was very comfortable and homey. The lake was very nice. We were there while it was still cold, so we did not get to take advantage of the pool and hope to go back during a warmer part of the year. We highly recommend this house!

This was an amazing stay. We were all able to just relax and enjoy the beautiful environment. If you are looking for peace and relaxation, this is it. Beautiful house with amazing host. We would definitely come back.

Cabin was a great Christmas Getaway. We absolutely loved the Christmas decor and how cozy it was. We will be renting again in the summer!

We had a great stay! The place was clean and the surroundings were very peaceful. We enjoyed exploring the trails around the property. There was also easy access to trails on the adjacent park which were very private.

We booked this place because it was just a few dollars more than hotels in tue area. What a great call because we had an entire house. This place was perfect for us to come relax with our college son and make him a nice dinner! The house far exceeded our expectations. Everything was perfect! We loved the old feel, with updated touches. Cooked on the grill outside and even had a small fire in the fire pit. Such a peaceful stay! Thank you Jill! You were so quick to respond to any of our messages! We will definitely search for this place in the future!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Rustic Acres! It was private with beautiful rural views of fields & nature. The cabin was clean & had lots of extras that made our stay even better. I especially loved that there were spices in the cabinet to use & extras in the fridge. It was raining our entire stay so the concrete floors were awesome & easy to clean as we came in and out. We really enjoyed the washer and dryer to be able to dry our clothes after getting caught in the rain. There was even a dog bed in the laundry room with dog toys. The only thing I didn't love was the open staircase. When I looked at the pictures, I didn't notice there were no outer rails to prevent falls to the concrete floor below. It gave me a bit of anxiety only because we were traveling with 3 kids & 2 dogs who didn't seem to understand how not to fall off. Next time we will bring a portable baby gate just for safety. This is only an issue with kids & some pets of course, other than that, it was an amazing stay!

Our group had a great weekend at this home. Beautiful, peaceful area to get away and unwind. Unfortunately we had horrible weather so we look forward to coming back later this fall. Plenty of room, beds, amenities, and space to sprawl out.
