Home Away From Home

LicaRating, 5 stars3 months ago
We had a great stay, the best vaca rental experience to date. Lovely house, incredibly clean and well maintained, welcoming and comfortable, exactly as described and pictured, and Debbie and James were wonderful hosts. We were in Medford to visit family for the holidays, and the house was a lovely place to relax after a long day of festivities (I love my family, but you know LOL). Thank you so much Debbie and James!

Rellik Winery - The Rellik House

AprilRating, 5 stars9 months ago
This is such a beautiful home. The setting in the winery is an added bonus. Peaceful, relaxing and refreshing. We rented the entire house and it worked out well. There is the common room but also we had our separate bedrooms to retreat to whenever we wanted. The host was extremely helpful, kind, and responsive. The staff at the winery were extremely friendly as well. The pool and hot tub were clean and easy to use. There wasn’t one bad thing about this place. It is set up perfectly for a family to enjoy a nice home. Even without renting the entire house you still feel like you’re the only one there. Such an enjoyable experience. Will definitely stay here time and time again. Thank you to Valisatie for being such a wonderful host. The house and property are beautiful.

A nice house, very clean and well appointed. The stocked coffee bar was great. A TV in every room, and the bathrooms stocked with needed items.

Ruby Belle Cottage

ChristinaRating, 5 stars4 months ago
My stay at the Ruby Belle Cottage was nothing short of magical. The space was immaculate and expertly appointed. Everything I could have needed was thought of and provided. Most importantly, the bed is incredibly comfortable and the property is quiet (I slept like a rock!). For a PNW coffee nerd, the espresso machine in the morning was quite the treat. I wish I hadn't been on a tight schedule; otherwise, a leisurely morning with coffee on the patio overlooking the paddocks would have been lovely. I look forward to staying at the cottage again!

Historic Farm Estate | Countryside Haven | Ashland

Sarah And AndrewRating, 5 stars7 months ago
Our big family was able to have a wonderful stay. Lots to do in Ashland and hanging at the house was so nice. We cooked, we sat outside and at the big dining table. Everyone had their own space too. The house is beautiful and decor funky and cool. We’d love to stay again!

Holly Street House

PatsyRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We really enjoyed our stay at Daniel and Shereen’s place. Loved the wine, treats and flowers left for us. They were very responsive to any questions or concerns.. the home had plenty to do. Loved the fireplace and hot tub with a private backyard. The only drawback I could possibly find was no area really for dogs to use in the backyard, but made it work with the front yard. Just had to keep her on a leash. I thought the sign in book was a fantastic touch for visitors to write in. First place I had seen that. Would definitely stay here in the future!

Ripple Rock Ranch Lodge

LauraRating, 5 stars1 week ago
We wanted a place to stay that had private areas since it was two couples but also a nice gathering area for the four of us. This was the Perfect Place! The open Kitchen, dining and living area were quite large with comfortable seating for all of us. The deck on the back of the house was perfect for afternoon cocktails while watching the sunset and the river with all the beautiful wildlife. We found that Shady Cove which is only a 20 minute drive had a nice grocery store and several restaurants. The drive to Crater Lake was about an hour and was absolutely spectacular even in the early spring. We also took advantage of fishing while we were there on the river. FYI check with a fly Shop to make sure you have your rig set up correctly because the police do stop and check for fishing license and your Line length. I would absolutely stay here again and it is the perfect place to relax after a day at Crater Lake.

Your guide to Lake of the Woods

Welcome to Lake of the Woods

The name Lake of the Woods tells you all you need to know about this outdoor destination in southern Oregon’s Cascade Range: It’s a natural lake and it’s deep in the woods — but, of course, there’s a lot more to this serene place, which has kept families coming back for generations. This pristine alpine lake is ringed by the Fremont-Winema National Forest. A snow-covered dormant volcano looms in the distance, and cottages flank its shores. Day-use areas welcome swimmers to take a dip in the chilly waters and picnickers to spread out under the towering fir trees. Boaters, stand-up paddleboarders, and kayakers run the show in the summer, while winter snowfall brings out cross-country skiers, snowshoers, and snowmobiles. A couple restaurants, a general store, and a full-service marina keep most campers happy, but urbane attractions are few. This vast wilderness playground is perfect for an off-the-grid escape.

The best time to stay in a vacation rental in Lake of the Woods

Summer at Lake of the Woods means long, sunny days on the water. The warmest months of July and August mark the peak times for boating and paddling as well as hiking and backcountry treks. Temperatures cool and the days become shorter in fall, when you’re more likely to have a corner of the lake to yourself or find trailheads empty. The elevation here in the Cascades guarantees snow in winter, when the lake freezes over and fishing by boat gives way to ice fishing. Come here in January and February for ice skating on the lake, snowshoeing through the forests, and cozying up in your cabin at night. Families return in larger numbers by spring break, when much of the snow melts and wildflowers bloom in the meadows.

Top things to do in Lake of the Woods

Boating and paddling

A full-service marina rents all the gear you need to enjoy an afternoon on the clear waters of the lake. Anglers might want to hop on a pontoon boat with rods and bait for an afternoon. If you prefer, skim the surface on a kayak or paddle board — circling the shores and watching for wildlife in the surrounding evergreen forests.

Mt. McLoughlin Trail

The snowy peak of Mount McLoughlin shimmers when reflected in the Lake of the Woods, luring advanced hikers away from their cabins in the early morning for an arduous daylong climb to the summit at 9,495 feet. This challenging 10-mile round-trip trek along the Mount McLoughlin Trail, which links up with the grand Pacific Crest Trail, is a bucket-list hike in Southern Oregon that only experienced hikers should attempt.

Great Meadows Sno-Park

Winter turns the Fremont-Winema National Forest into a snowy playground, with freshly dusted forests ready for crunching on snowshoes, zipping along on cross-country skis, or revving up snowmobiles. Great Meadows Sno-Park ranks as one of the prime destinations in Southern Oregon for its 165 miles of groomed trails, which typically remain covered in the white stuff from late November through early March. Keep in mind: You’ll need to purchase an Oregon Sno-Park Permit before you visit.
