We are a Portuguese family that knows all the islands of the Azores, and completed in August 2018 this retreat, to get away from our busy lives in London. Until the day comes that we can enjoy it full time, we have decided to share the amazing space we have created with others that love the nature, mountain and sea that is always surrounding us. The house is within Prainha, the most beautiful parish of Pico Island, and within close proximity to the beach, restaurants, grocery store and bakery.

Almoxarife Beach - Casa da Parteira "a moagem"

About 4 km north from the city of Horta is Almoxarife Beach. In the "a moagem" space, there is life in every corner, in the garden there is a water cistern and a threshing floor. It features traditional architecture, dating back to the beginning of the last century. At the mill, a philosophy based on the traditional and sustainable is practiced. It consists of: apartment, garden, handicraft workshop, farm with animals, vegetables, fruits and seeds of traditional varieties.

Charming Beach House along the Ocean

Located minutes from downtown Madalena, “Casa da Barca” is a charming space granting guests picturesque views of the ocean and island of Faial from one side, and iconic Pico Mountain on the other. Walk only a few steps out the door and take a dip into natural pools or enjoy a refreshment at Pico’s award winning Cella Bar. Your host will welcome you with some cheese and wine, giving you a taste of the Acores and getting your palate ready for delicious island food.

Views, peace, and quiet

180 degrees of breathtaking views of the Atlantic (at about 200 meters above sea level), a lot of green everywhere and no neighbors in sight: if you're looking for a relaxing vacation in a traditional Azorean stone cottage placed in a magical landscape, this is the place for you. Casas do Horizonte is a traditional compound of two homes (the main farm house and a converted millhouse) set in 2 acres of gardens and wooded areas.

Grandfather Francisco's House

Once a traditional wine cellar, built by Francisco Paulo in 1980, this villa served for many years as a production site and warehouse for the Paulo family's wine. The wine cellar has been remodeled and expanded, but it maintains the traditional elevations and the decoration and details of the times when it was used as a wine cellar. Next to the bathing area, it has a view that invites long nights of conversation.

Mysteries Lodge

Misterios Lodge is a quiet, private retreat designed exclusively for adults seeking calm and privacy. Set among trees with Atlantic views on Pico Island, it is a single-level, high-quality lodge built from sustainably sourced wood and designed for thermal and acoustic comfort. Cozy space located in the most rural and genuine fajã of São Jorge-Azores island, Fajã de São João. The house is located in the heart of Fajã and preserves all its traditional character, ideal for families or groups looking for adventure, but also who want a calm and relaxing space. The Fajã de São João is known for its humble people, its sunset, pedestrian trails, and its relationship with the sea.

Casa Acima da Rocha is “an inch and a half” from the rocks of the coast, with a magnificent view over the Pico-São Jorge canal, where you can be lulled by the whispering of the waves of the sea and the song of the seagulls. It is a newly rebuilt house decorated mostly with recyclables, optimizing existing materials and simultaneously providing comfort to those who enjoy it.
