Le Candeze

Where do we start! Thierry’s communication from booking was excellent. When we arrived Thierry met us with enthusiasm and showed us around our part of his castle! The castle, built in the 1500’s, has been lovingly restored and has all the mod cons needed! He is a very proud owner and has so much knowledge! His english put our French to shame as he has mastered it well! Thierry spent time with us when we arrived explaining the village and things to do in the area and would message with suggestions he thought we may be interested in (market at Carmaux etc) which was very helpful! When it was 34deg outside the castle was a much needed cool retreat! I can’t fault the accommodation, the area or the owner at all! Don’t hesitate to book Thierry’s part of history -you won’t regret it. Thierry, thank you for your hospitality and if we are ever in the area we will not hesitate to book with you again!

Country house overlooking the forest, quiet.

ElisabethRating, 5 stars22 months ago
A quiet house with a few dwellings in the heart of the nature . The renovation is very nice and tastefully made the very decent and practical amenities, storage in the rooms, the bedding is of good quality. On the other hand, a smell of confinement remained persistent perhaps due to the high heat. The air conditioning is quite nice at the bottom of the accommodation but does not refresh the top. This is not a downside to sleeping because even during this heatwave the nights were cool. We did not use the last room with a very large roof window (which must be nice to admire the stars) but a blind might be needed to avoid letting the heat in. The terrace is much less pleasant and convenient than the rest of the house. A very relaxing and satisfying stay.
A spacious dining area is illuminated by natural light through large glass windows. A wooden table with multiple chairs is set, centered by a vase of flowers. Scenic views of the grassy landscape and surrounding trees are visible outside.

We had a pleasant stay with the family in a clean accommodation, with all the amenities. Quiet moments around the wood-burning stove, fun games around foosball and mealtime on the veranda that offers a beautiful view. Many walks from the accommodation are possible, a real plus to satisfy young and old. We recommend this listing and these very welcoming hosts.
