Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Kyotango

Kako san was a very nice host! The home was lovely and had everything we needed. Our family of four was very thankful for a place that could easily sleep all of us. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful with a few delightful pastry shops within walking distance. I’m glad we stayed here!

Great location and comfortable amenities. Host was very responsive to any questions I had about check in. Just a note that the homes around here have little sound insulation. Not really a problem because other surrounding guests were quiet and respectful.

The home is very special and unique. We are a family of two adults, a 16yo and 8yo. We all loved the home traditional aspects of the home with modern appliances. Even though the home is nestled into a neighborhood, it is a short walk to the gorgeous river, a huge grocery store and a little further are bus stops and train stations. The bikes were such a gift and we enjoyed using them. Although we didn't use them, it was thoughtful to have rain jackets and umbrellas available. Hiroe met us promptly even after a time change with little notice. She was efficient and thorough in her directions. We felt grateful to stay in such a lovely and comfortable home.

A two storey cozy house in a quiet neighbourhood. 5 mins walk to the closest train station and 3 mins walk to bus stop. The host is very responsive and helpful especially about how to get to kyoto from osaka, because it help us save money and worries , as a first timer to japan. Very clear explanation as we were travelling in seven ppl including two little children. Typical japanese home , with tatami setup bed . ( there are also two spring bed)but we all sleep in tatami style. love the stairs , but for us carrying a big heavy luggages to the upstairs , need lots energy. Because it is quite small the aisle. We would love to come back again .

We had a lovely a-week stay at Hide's place and served us as an excellent base when doing day trips from Kyoto as it was only minutes walk from the Kyoto train station. The place itself was as described, clean and well equipped. Will stay again if back to Kyoto!

It was really close to a train station, about five mins away or less, and multiple convenience stores which helped with snacks after long days. Only thing to note is all three rooms are attached, so to get to the third room you must go through the first and second room. It wasn’t an issue for us but might be for those who want privacy. There was a bright exit sign in the first room which was bothersome the first night but we just covered it with a black shirt the next nights and it was fine. Overall would stay again.

The description for Omoide’s place was accurate. My family (2 adults and 2 children) arrived to Kyoto late at night so we did the self check-in method. The place was located in a quiet street in the Higashiyama Ward. It was spotless! We were able to walk to some restaurants, shops, museums, and a shrine. The bathrooms were compact, but the shower had ample hot water and flow. Our host was very responsive and helpful. We communicated using messages on Airbnb. Thank you!

Our group of 8 stayed at this Air BnB during our three night stay in Kyoto. This place has two floors and the top and bottom floor are copies of each other. I really liked that each floor had their own washer/dryer, fridges and bathrooms. The area has a lot of good restaurants and it is fairly close to Nishkiki market along with other attractions. The Air BnB comes with a booklet of recommendations for restaurants and clear instructions on the home;

It was my second time staying near at Shoji's home and we were reminded of why we loved the location! Excellent location in close proximity to train stations, Nishiki market, Daimaru. The room was clean, comfortable and 3B was more spacious than L4 (which we stayed in previously). Shoji was very kind to allow luggage storage after check out as well :)

Staying at Asami and Daniel's place was honestly the highlight of my whole trip. After being collected and escorted from the train station to the apartment, I was given bits of history about the neighbourhood and recommendations for food by Daniel. Upon arrival Asami greeted me and showed me how to use some of the more confusing amenities which was really helpful. I took them up on some of their suggested sightseeing and definitely wasn't disappointed, a stunning trek up Mt Kurama was my first pick. During my entire stay both were extremely kind and conscientious and shared so much knowledge with me, giving me a small peek into the lives of the locals. When leaving the city to head to Osaka, I was very kindly escorted back to the train station and send a message when I got home safely. Kyoto will definitely be the city I come back to on my next visit to Japan and staying with Asmai and Daniel again would be a treat!

Sehr freundliche und aufgeschlossene Begrüssung und Verabschiedung beim Check-In/Check-Out. Bei Fragen auch immer erreichbar und hilfreich, auch mit Fotos. Das Zimmer war klein, aber fein. Es war niedlich eingerichtet und gab alles, was man brauchen könnte/angegeben ist. Alles war sauber und sonst hätte es auch selbst Putzutensilien gehabt. Die Matratze, die sie uns noch bereitgestellt hat für den Boden, war fast ein bisschen dünn, aber ausreichend. Man könnte sich nicht mehr wünschen, würde es sofort wieder buchen, wenn ich wieder nach Kyoto gehe :)

It is such an accessible place from the center of Kyoto! The host is kind and the room is so clean.

Lovely little place and room for our stay in Kyoto. Originally thought I’d booked somewhere that was a little out the way from everything but once there realised it’s actually a great location. Easy to get to Kyoto station, easy access to buses (good for bamboo forest and Kinkaku-ku shrine), lovely shopping around the area too. The room was a decent size, larger than most hotels and airbnbs that I originally looked at for the area. Very grateful to see an elevator in the building as well. Would definitely rebook and recommend to friends in the future.

We absolutely loved Yukikos place. Very comfy, cozy and very easy to get around. Would definitely stay here again.

This was one of our favourite Airbnb stays. To find a 46 sq m apartment in Kyoto during sakura season is amazing! Everything was so spacious and comfortable - exactly as described and identical to the photos on the website. Easily walkable to the metro and buses for sightseeing plus it is surrounded by supermarkets, restaurants and bars for eating. It was very quiet during the night so perfect for sleeping. May is a brilliant communicator, every aspect of our stay from check in to check out was clearly shared with us. Highly recommended as an option for Kyoto.

7 min walk from the station. clean. small but was good for our needs. I recommend.

We had 4 people and stayed 1 night with intention to get up early the next day and hike to the Inari shrine. The host was great with good details before we got there, so finding it and getting inside was a breeze. The place was clean, comfortable and quiet. It had everything we could need for a stay in Kyoto. Highly recommend.

Fantastic location with plenty of amenities. The host was responsive to our contact and extremely helpful with local recommendations. The apartment was clean and tidy, and the elevator was a bonus as this doesn't seem common in Japan. They allowed us to leave our lugguge after check out while we explored Kyoto before departing the city. Overall this was a A+ experience and I would happily return.

Excellent location and very easy to get to places. Like many places in Japan, spaces are smaller, however we really loved the deep wardrobe/ cupboard. We were able to hang clothes, stack all our bags on a shelf and roll our suitcases straight in. Host was very helpful and gave us great information on current events. Would recommend.

I would definitely recommend to others

This is such a perfect and cool place in Kyoto for a family of four. Great location for sightseeing and shopping. The windows have amazing views of the city and make for great people watching. The beds and futons are comfy. The 2 bathrooms are so convenient. The dryer dries well which is rare in Japan. The host responds quickly. We also enjoyed the Starbucks right downstairs and the hip rooftop bar above. Things to consider: It’s one big open space so you won’t get much privacy. And there’s only one large sink by the kitchen for both bathroom and kitchen use, which may be a bit awkward. But those were no problems for us. We LOVED our stay and would definitely stay again if we return to Kyoto.

A small apartment that had everything we needed. The kitchen was well-equipped and we could do laundry on the small balcony. The communication with the host was fantastic - they were super helpful and responsive. The location was perfect, in a quiet area but close to everything. Would definitely recommend and stay here again if we get the chance!
