Kid-friendly vacation rentals in Kilifi

What a beautiful beautiful place. The pictures don’t do the house justice and Tiwi is a beach that is still as gorgeous as it was 30 years ago. No beach boys, no grief just lovely people everywhere. We snorkelled, swam in the pool, swam in the sea, played on the beach, rock pool hunted on the reef. Saw amazing starfish, moray eel, box fish and 3 types of sea hare as well as the “usual stuff”. We missed turtles hatching by 24 hours, but watched one come up to lay her eggs . The perfect place to spend a few days with the family chilling, talking and reconnecting. The verandah at the front is the best hub place. Then food - Anthony creates magic in the kitchen. Fresh fish, fruit and his tempura squid with coriander and soy sauce was delish. Fred the taxi driver is great and as a mixed family of 6 we could be as active and busy or not as we chose. The best way to end a trip to Kenya and as a previous resident it was perfect -Asante Tanya xx

It was definitely a great deal! The host and their assistant was perfect! We had a great stay. The grounds were awesome. They even let us check in early and check out late for just a small fee. It was very helpful being that we had to check out of an Airbnb quite close to there and there would’ve been a large gap where we would’ve had to sit someplace with our luggage. And then we have a flight late in the evening on the day we checked out once again we would’ve had to deal with our luggage all day long somewhere. We cooked in the kitchen, ordered food delivered, tuk tuk drivers were easy to get to come out there. And we were very close to town! The grounds were impeccably kept with great security. I definitely stay here again.

Our family had the most wonderful stay at this beautiful house. Kathryn & Mark were great hosts, extremely responsive & friendly. The staff at the house were great and very helpful. We look forward to coming back again soon!

This place is definitely worth your time looking at. I thought I’d miss being right at the beach, but honestly, we looked forward to coming ‘home’ to Joseph and David and the calm, quiet, cool of Ruby House. We spent time reading, playing games, reconnecting and resting, as well as swimming and bobbing in the creek - listening and watching birds. It is so peaceful - chatting with fishermen, and just taking in the surroundings. We went for a few day trips- the Gede ruins are well worth an hour of your time, sand dunes north of malindi were great. And we LOVED Garoda Beach - much less seaweed and less busy. I could not speak more highly of the staff - they were present but not, flexible, understanding and really wanted to help make your time enjoyable. The rooms were so comfortable. I think it may be a little hot in the very hot month, but it gets a lovely breeze and there is always the one room to escape into for an afternoon nap if necessary - but we didn’t need to do this. Thanks!

An incredible house in a beautiful garden. We loved sitting outside by the pool and using the upstairs area. Host was very helpful and accommodating. We had a fantastic time. No complaints at all!

Gary’s place is the best for a calm holiday. The chef is polite and cooks delicious food with great suggestions. Very helpful staff who are not too much in your space. They helped keep the place clean and that made the holiday so much better for us. This is truely a gem and we will definitely be back. Thank you Gary

The host was incredibly responsive and thoughtful, leaving little touches that made us feel right at home. The location was ideal, close to great restaurants and attractions but still peaceful. The bed was super comfortable, and the amenities (especially the fully stocked kitchen and fast Wi-Fi) made our stay effortless. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and will 100% be back in the future. **Highly recommend** to anyone looking for a 5-star experience!

We were a family of four with two children ages 9 and 7 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay in watamu. My children didn’t want to leave the pool and it was so convenient that it was right outside the veranda. The location is perfect. Right on the beach but so close to walking to lots of restaurants, shopping, etc. you can walk down the beach to hire a boat for a ride to snorkel and dolphin watch, you can walk out to the islands at low tide. We hired Joffit, a local chef at Federica’s recommendation , to prepare breakfast and lunches and do shopping. Would highly recommend to anyone else. It made the stay very relaxing. The flat was perfect for our family. Extremely clean, spacious and we appreciated the minimalist decor. We didn’t notice any loud noise like other reviewers mentioned. We could hear the waves at night. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to enjoy Watamu.

Ayan was a wonderful host! She welcomed us personally and showed us the beautifully furnished apartment. It was very clean and well maintained. Through her profile, we discovered fun activities and found great inspiration for our stay. She was very helpful, which made our stay much easier. I could reach her at any time, and she always responded quickly to my messages. The apartment is very bright, which we personally really liked. It’s furnished in a minimalist Swahili style, which added a unique and charming touch. If it’s available next year, we’ll definitely book again!

The host was fantastic! Even though l arrived late, the host stayed up to make sure l arrived safely. Everything in the apartment was excellent. l love that the host went above and beyond and provided shower slippers, extra towels, bathing soap, and laundry detergent. Con: l think the pin in the advertisement is incorrect, which led me to the wrong area the first time heading to the location.

My boyfriend and I had an amazing, amazing, amazing time at this Airbnb! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the house manager, who made sure we felt right at home. The space itself was immaculately clean, beautifully maintained, and incredibly comfortable- everything we could have hoped for. One of the standout aspects of our stay was the incredible hospitality. Every morning, we received a thoughtful check-in call to see how our night was, which was such a nice touch. The service providers were also fantastic- they ensured our place was spotless, security was top-notch, and they even helped us with our luggage. A special thank you to the team for accommodating our request for an early check-in and a late check-out, which made a huge difference given our itinerary. That level of flexibility is rare and truly appreciated. We absolutely loved our stay and will 100% recommend this place to friends. We’re already looking forward to coming back for another visit!

We stayed at Aisha's place with my family. The appartement was clean, cosy, comfortable, with air-conditioning in both rooms and a lovely shared swimming pool in the compound. Our hosts were friendly and attentive and gave us a lot of suggestions about what to do in the surrounding area. We will be definitely coming back, it was great value for money!

This place was absolutely beautiful - felt right at home! It’s a great, clean, and convenient base in Watamu. The apartment was spotless and so practical for our stay, with a fully equipped kitchen. We had an incredibly comfortable stay. The property has a pool and is right on the beach, with stunning beach views from our balcony - it was gorgeous! It’s also very close to the market and a lovely brunch spot that serves the best ice cream. Highly recommend staying here!

Thank you Pwani Luxury for allowing my family and I to utilize your accommodation during our visit to Mombasa. This host was always responsive and willing to accommodate any requests that we had. The place was simply beautiful and worth every penny spent. Anyone in need of a relaxing place with a beautiful view should consider this accommodation.

It was a cool place,through it rained through out our stay but it was wow.nature also was BEST

Susan’s place is a true gem. The beds were comfortable, always hot water and power, well equipped kitchen and a gorgeous pool and patio. Even niceties I dint expect like security cameras, house cleaning and a quality washing machine. You have all you need to live there autonomously. Next door is a great pizza place w vegan pizza and cocktails! Notes for families: the beach that is directly outside of Susan’s compound is not family friendly nor good for swimming (trash and khat chewers). But the cleaner swim able beach is just a 8 min Tuk Tuk ride away. Worth the distance to have such a gorgeous condo! The pool was shallow enough for my 5 yo to stand w her head above water but a short child or a younger child couldn’t stand. There is no “kiddie pool”

The house looks exactly like it does in the photos—no surprises, no disappointments. The view is stunning, and there’s a large shared pool that’s perfect for relaxing. Everything was very clean, and Silvia was incredibly helpful and always quick to respond. The location is unbeatable—it’s right on the beach, just a couple of steps away. Unfortunately, we visited during the low season, so we ended up going to Garoda Beach to swim. Still, I’m sure that during the high season, you can fully enjoy the beautiful beach right in front of the house. Overall, we had a great experience. If there’s one thing I would suggest improving, it’s the interior design. Replacing the bedsheets on the couches with proper covers would make the space feel much more polished—and truly deserving of more than 5 stars.

Our stay at Franca's went very well. We were well received, and the house helpers were very helpful. Paradise setting, the garden and its many swimming pools are perfect for a stay with friends and family! Beach Access. Proximity to restaurants and shops. I would recommend it!

Marie's place was superb! We had an early arrival to Mombasa which Marie gladly accomodated. She was responsive and a phone call away incase we needed anything. Thank you Marie! We will visit again
