Family-friendly vacation rentals in Karlstad

We had a wonderful stay in a beautiful large and well maintained house, beautifully detached overlooking the forest and just a piece of the lake (with swimming beach) to be seen from the house. This house was also easy to use with a wheelchair! The house has many amenities for extensive cooking, large fridge, freezer, good oven and microwave. Large terraces to sit. Two bathrooms, although we couldn't get the large bath to work well (but we didn't come for that). The house is very quiet, at the same time within fifteen minutes drive a great supermarket, half an hour from Årjäng, and within an hour drive from Karlstad. It takes a while to find the starting point, but there are all kinds of beautiful hiking trails nearby (with beautiful wild plants, insects and other animals). Kjell-Åke is a friendly host and can be approached directly with questions. Only improvement: the cabinets are full of personal clothes, so there is too little closet space for your own clothes.

The property is perfect for a vacation in a larger group. We were a total of 15 people and were able to spend a wonderfully snowy New Year's Eve there. Johan and Linnéa always responded quickly to questions both during and before arrival and were thus always able to help us quickly. All in all, a great place to stay and very great hosts.

Such a beautiful spot and close to good walks and lakes. The hot tub and sauna were amazing. Kind and communicative host.

Our visit as a resident in the Pavilion. We were adults and children who stayed there to-sun. Large areas both inside and outside, clean and tidy, own large patio with large lawn for play. Sauna and wood fired sauna for about 4 people. Good parking next door, walking distance to fishing area and also to the bath with small beach, jetty and diving tower. Good communication with Johan before and upon arrival as well as was quickly available if we were missing anything during the stay. Cozy environment. We feel incredibly fortunate to have stayed in Kristina’s house during our quiet family vacation in Sweden! The house and the garden are absolutely charming, filled with flowers and candles that create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. This is truly a family home, not only equipped with everything you need for a long stay, but also furnished and decorated with such care and love that you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. The surrounding woods and lakes are perfect for hiking, foraging, meditation, and relaxation. Kristina and her son Alexander were wonderful hosts, making our stay even more enjoyable.

We had a wonderful long weekend at Håkan's country house. It was magical to wake up with the nice view, sit on the terrace and barbecue on the brilliant barbecue table and take one bath after time in the sauna. Good beds and very well equipped kitchen. Everything you need and then some. The little boat ride (a few minutes) out was a nice bonus. Good capacity and easy to drive the boat.

Really nice stay - perfect that we had to bring dogs. Was a good fit for the description and it was in a nice setting.

To say we had a nice stay would be an understatement! The accomidation is so lovely and we had an amazing vacation. The pool deck is even nicer than you might think from the pictures. The pool costs a little extra (120€ for the week as of 2022), which would have been nice to write in the listing. Given the pool is heated and has to be maintained the cost is understandable though of course. The next grocery store is about 15min by car and the next bigger town about 40 to 50min. Given how nice the house is you might not want to leave though :) We had a lot of fun taking the SUP and the canoe out to the lake, we even had the chance to do this with our little dogs for the very first time, so that was a really great experience. There is even a grill, which Linda and Peter were kind enough to let us borrow. All basic spices, oils and such were also there to borrow. The surrounding forrest is beautiful too and there were plenty of mushrooms to pick. Lastly two things worth noting (These werent issues for us but might be worth knowing for others). Both the pool deck and the garden are not fenced in, so if you have small kids or dogs you will have to keep an extra eye out. And the larger beds in the main house are in separate rooms but the rooms are only separated by a curtain. Again, these were really non issues when you take into account how lovely the rest of the place was! So, thank you again for letting us stay here, Linda and Peter!

We really enjoyed the week at Gina's place. By boat, we were able to explore the two lakes and catch great fish. The hostess was nearby the first two days and helped us with everything. Great place in a lovely location.

What a beautiful place! A lovely cottage on the grounds of Marjolanda, where we enjoyed the silence, the forest and the sauna. Everything was very neat and carefully cared for and maintained, both the cottage and the garden around it. And communication with Marjolanda was quick and easy. Top!

Our family had a wonderful time at this magnificent home. This is a special property, cared for with such loving detail by the owners. It has everything you need for a perfect lakeside holiday in the beautiful Swedish countryside. The views of the lake and sunset painted sky are surreal and peaceful. There are many things for guests to use, boats, kayaks, bikes, and games, stocked kitchen and BBQ! Tor has even created a walking path through the forest for guests to easily navigate right in their own backyard! The house is full of great spaces, many bedrooms/bathrooms plus common areas for relaxing in the surroundings of a majestic, pristine historical home. We feel very fortunate that they open their home to guests, it truly is a treasure. As host, Ellen was so accommodating and gracious and her attention to detail and availability to make her guests feel welcome and relaxed was evident and appreciated by us. We highly recommend this unique house by the lake and hope to return again!

We have been SO happy with the cabin the two times, we have been there. Charming, nice, authentic, clean. Completely quiet and close to the Götakanalen and Hajstorp locks. Maria has welcomed us so well. Thank you for your stay. Of course, we'll be back

Very nice accommodation where we only stayed overnight before continuing our trip. However, we were greeted with a lit fire and immediately felt at home! Super happy with our stay! :)

Our stay in Sweden was very nice. The house offers a lot of space for the whole family as well as many games and sports opportunities. We especially loved the direct access to the lake and the various boats (sup, rowing boat, sailing jacket). In the area you can walk/hike nicely. The location is perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy peace and nature. The house and kitchen were well equipped - we didn't lack anything. The communication with Oyvind was also always nice and straightforward. We will be happy to come back!

We were a big bunch of people who celebrated New Year in this house for the second year in a row. Again, it was easy to communicate with the host who responded quickly when we had questions and was very helpful and flexible. The house was absolutely perfect for a large group of friends and dogs, with all rooms and large areas. The kitchen was absolutely perfect for a big New Year's dinner! We would also like to thank the neighbor who helped us shovel the entire driveway when there had been 30 cm of snow on New Year's Day ❤️✨

Lotta and Rolf were perfects hosts and we (1 adult and two kids (5 and 8)) enjoyed every minute of our stay. The pool was the kids‘ sensation, of course🥳. We‘d definitely like to come back one day!

Jonas and his family's house is awesome. My family and I celebrated New Year's in their house and had a fantastic long weekend there. We were out in the woods walking the area every day and in the evenings we cooked big dinners in the kitchen and had meals in the beautiful dining room. It is a great house that is so beautifully renovated and we all enjoyed the house very much 😊 I would recommend everyone to go there and just relax for a few days!
