This is a rental cottage by the sea on Naoshima, a sacred place for art.There are two buildings, one on the sea side and one on the mountain side, and Kai is the sea side building.Free parking is available on site, which is rare in Naoshima. The building is a separate two-story building, with 6 beds in the ground floor bedroom and up to 2 futons in the Japanese-style room on the second floor, so you can stay between 6 and 8 people. There is a family-type kitchen and washing machine, so it can be used not only for family and friends, but also for student training camps, seminar trips, etc. It is a 3-minute walk from OHANA to Kikaburi, and a 2-minute walk from the nearest bus stop, making it an ideal base for sightseeing while staying in Naoshima. Enjoy a relaxing time on Naoshima Island in an interior that uses plenty of wood from local construction shops. We have also started a Naoshima sightseeing tour for guests of Ohana.There are many places where you need to make reservations in advance, such as museums in Naoshima, and I hope to provide you with more fulfilling Naoshima sightseeing, such as arranging tickets, transfers by car, and sightseeing in Naoshima by bicycle rental. Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

Reservation start from 2 person / 2 nights minimum. We only take one reservation everyday so house is yours to use privately.We have no meal service since corona pandemic 2020. Guesthouse is a typical old Japanese house, not like a resort Hotel or Ryokan for business. The guesthouse is a Japanese wooden house with only one room, so you can use privately. The room on the second floor has a slightly lower ceiling, giving it a cozy cabin or tea room feel. From the window, you can see old houses, mountains, and persimmon trees, with the morning light streaming in. Experience an extraordinary space and time.

This house was built 120 years ago and stayed by a lot of people who have plan to go to Koya-san. The house is in front of the river and you can take a look. It will make relaxed. We can do tea ceremony, if you want. We have 2 toilet and 1 bath room with big bath tab made by a Japanese special wood, Hinoki. There is a 24h super market, Okuwa near the house.(5 min away by a car) And high rank Japanese beef restaurant(2 min by a car) You can enjoy Yakiniku.
