Family-friendly vacation rentals in Kalutara

Have just spent our 2nd stay here. For us, the garden is why we returned, which is kept very tidy by Velu. So peaceful to relax in during the day, with plenty of varied wildlife to entertain you during the day, especially the chipmunks. Our bedroom was comfortable, bed linen clean, a/c & ceiling fan kept it cool. Bathroom/ shower room ample size and more than satisfactory. Kitchen had everything as described, which includes the washing machine. We spent 99% of our time outside either in the garden or under the spacious veranda. No issue with WiFi. Keels supermarket 4 min walk away which has everything you might need. Good local food outlets, and we have tried them all in the past 2 years with no problems. Best find was Crepe Runner which is well worth the 10min stroll. Felt safe and secure with Velu on hand for anything you might need, together with Chaminder who will pop round at least twice a day, to check that everything is fine. Would have no hesitation staying again.

We are a group of 13 pax interior designers from Malaysia to visit Sri Lanka. Benjamis’s estate - the Nisala Arana is a hidden gem that we found at Bentota area! From before booking until check out, the whole process is so smooth and I was being rest assured everything will be taking care and Benjamin’s team proved it with their action. We were welcomed with cold towels and welcome drinks, great smile from chef Shan and the team, not to mention the perfectly clean room, swimming pool and the well maintained estate with swimming pool that come with bicycles. As there aren’t a lot of restaurant options so Benjamin offered us could get their in house chef to prepare breakfast and dinner for us and that is another best decision we made! Thank you for making our stay so memorable! It is definitely one of the highlight of our trip and we have really good private time to chill and bond in the estate. If you are in the Bentota, do book this estate!

It was one of the most wonderful vacation trips. We had a vacation with my husband and two children aged 11 and 16. The owner of the Dharshana house is a magnificent man. He was always in touch and answered all questions. The house is located almost on the shore of the Indian Ocean in 1 min walk. All the amenities were available. All necessary household appliances are present in the house. Especially the washing machine helped us out, as children often dirty things and they could be quickly refreshed. Dharshana and his wife were very kind and welcoming. In addition, they organized a trip for my family to the elephant nursery and the nine-arch bridge, we visited the highest waterfall and got acquainted with monkeys. The children were delighted. Our family has become friends with Dharshana and his wife and we continue to communicate. We are glad that we have friends in Sri Lanka and we will definitely come back to them again.

My girlfriend and me spent lovely 2 weeks in this house. The house itself is really great, with fantastic design, high ceilings with fans in all rooms, exactly as in the pictures. The beach is few minutes walk from the house. Christina helped organize the airport transfer as well, we were welcomed by Shani, Christina's brother, which lives in the house next door. Shani gave us really helpful advices regarding where to go, where to eat, etc. His wife even prepared traditional lunch for us one day. The village and location is perfect to really feel authentic local experience and that's what we exactly wanted. Cheers!

Henry and everyone at Villa 80 was extremely lovely and welcoming. The place is a great find, really good location, amazing pool, the list goes on and on. We were visiting for a friend's wedding and was so glad Henry could accommodate us. Would highly recommend and return. Thank you Henry!

After a long flight, we spent a relaxing few days at the villa. The villa itself was super clean and provided us with a massive space to relax and enjoy our time in Sri Lanka. We enjoyed spending time in the pool and jacuzzi, overlooking the beautiful lake. The villa staff scheduled a boat tour of the Bolgoda lake for us. The boat picked us up directly from the villa, so we didn't have to drive anywhere. They gave us a beautiful tour of the Bolgoda Lake, which is the largest natural lake in Sri Lanka. There are also other day trips and excursions (taking you to famous Sri Lankan attractions) which can be arranged through the villa staff. We felt very safe, especially during the coronavirus pandemic, as the villa provided a large space where we could spread out, while still being close to Colombo. The villa staff was very kind and helpful. The villa manager was able to arrange food and a driver for us during our stay. The food was delicious and authentic, being sourced from a local restaurant. I would highly recommend this home for anyone looking for a calm, relaxing, and memorable stay in Sri Lanka.

My family had 5 nights in this delightful house which was a perfect antidote to 10 days of rushing around the island of Sri Lanka. It was so relaxing and greatly benefited from having private staff who dealt with everything we could possible have wanted. There is a private chef who went out of his way to prepare whatever we asked for, 3 meals a day if needed. He only charged us for the ingredients required to prepare those meals which included a range of seafoods (e.g. huge prawns and seer fish), fresh fruit and very tasty Sri Lankan main dishes and deserts - nothing was too much trouble and he should be justly proud of his cooking skills, some of the best meals we tasted on our trip. They happily took us out on the tuk-tuk to local shops and will arrange local tours but we were "toured out" by the time we got there. The pool is fantastic (and huge!) and the grounds are constantly maintained by "Uncle". I cannot say anything but positive things, but do bring the bug sprays!

I had a wonderful stay at this property—everything was absolutely perfect in terms of cleanliness, safety, and overall comfort. The place was spotless, well-maintained, and felt very secure throughout my visit. The hosts were welcoming and helpful, which made the experience even better. However, it’s important to note that the location is not actually in Bentota, but rather in a nearby suburb. While it’s still relatively close, it may not be ideal if you’re specifically looking to be in the heart of Bentota. Additionally, the surrounding area doesn’t offer much in terms of activities or attractions, so keep that in mind if you’re planning to explore the local scene. Overall, a great place to relax and unwind—just be aware of the actual location when booking.
