The house is under construction and will be ready in the beginning of June 2024, that is why there are mere moments of the outside as the interior is not ready until then. The house has two bedrooms, bathroom, living room, dining room and kitchen. The house is located about 3 miles from Kirkjubæjarklaustur, so is right between The black sand beach in Vík and The national park Skaftafell and Jökulsárlón to the east. From the house there are both views to Vatnajökull and Mýrdalsjökull.

Then Hvílusteinn is perfect as a getaway from the city into the wilderness & as a base camp for South Iceland, within 100 km you have most of Iceland's popular gems! Airport about 170km away. It's nice to just enjoy the local nature and the northern lights in this remote and secluded area of the countryside with a private outdoor shower and shared indoor shower and a sauna. It's on the south side of the lake on the way to Hallormsstaður the biggest forest in Iceland. The closest grocery store is in Egilsstaðir. Good paved road, passable all the year. Quiet, peaceful and beautiful landscape, nice hiking trails down to the lake or up to the hills, good place to see the northern lights in wintertime.
