Pet-friendly vacation rentals in Houghton Estate

The property was simply amazing. The rooms were big each with lovely ensuite bathrooms. It has a well appointed kitchen and a large dining room table that would sit 10 people very comfortably. An added bonus is the dining room table converts to a pool table. The area is extremely quiet away from the hussle and bustle of Johannesburg and superbly situated to get to the various golf courses we were playing as well as some great restaurants. It has all the facilities for entertaining outside including a swimming pool which would be amazing in the summer months, as well as a large garden. The house is kept spotless by housekeeping who came in every day (except Sunday) to clean and make up the rooms. Finally, I cannot say enough about our host Charmaine. Very friendly and responsive throughout the whole process. Thank you Charmaine, you were brilliant and we all thank you for letting us feel so at home!

We spent several weeks at Lisa’s place and loved every moment. Lisa was super communicative and always on hand if we had a question. We liked being situated in Melville which is easily walkable and has lots of unique places to visit, especially the cafes on 7th street, 27 Boxes and morning walks up on the Koppies which are a must if staying in the area. Thanks again Lisa for being a great host, we hope to stay again!

We felt right at home during our stay - the space was warm, beautifully set up, and had everything we needed, including more than enough blankets to keep us cozy. The hosts were incredibly responsive and made everything so seamless from start to finish. Thank you for such a lovely experience - we’d definitely love to return!

Michael is very committed, friendly, extremely helpful and easily accessible! The house offers a lot of space for a large group, free space to enjoy and relax. The garden and the braai area invite you to linger for hours. The furnishings throughout the house leave nothing to be desired, everything is in impeccable condition, the rooms are very spacious, it just has a lot of space! The kitchen is very spacious and has all the appliances needed for cooking, baking, sizzling! The house has a lady who takes care of the rooms, the cleanliness and the care of the house twice a week, more on request. She is a very warm and kind person, always happy to help. The gardeners are very committed, keep the beautiful garden very clean and very well maintained. In short: a little paradise. For us as golfers all the more because the house allows the view of the Parkview GC…always exciting to watch how other golfers interpret the game for themselves.

We had the pleasure of staying at Stanley & Alison's cottage for a long stay, and it was absolutely wonderful! From the moment we arrived, we felt at home. Our cat, Meadow, was warmly welcomed, which meant so much to us. The cottage is nestled among stunning trees and abundant wildlife, creating a peaceful and serene atmosphere. Its location is incredibly convenient—close to Melrose Arch, Rosebank Mall, Norwood Mall, and just about anything else we needed. The cottage itself is spacious, well maintained, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we could need in the kitchen, bathroom, and for linens. The weekly visits from the friendly cleaner and helpful gardener were a lovely bonus and added to the ease of our stay. Stanley & Alison were excellent hosts, and we truly loved every moment of our time here. We can’t recommend this cottage enough to anyone looking for a relaxing and well-situated retreat. I had a wonderful stay at this BnB. Leroy was a great host — helpful, and welcoming. The place was spotlessly clean, safe, and incredibly comfortable. It truly felt like a home away from home. I had everything I needed, and it was the perfect spot for me as a solo traveler. I also absolutely loved the area — Melville has such a great vibe with lovely cafés, shops, and a relaxed atmosphere. What can I say?! An incredible spot to spend a few peaceful days in the city. it felt like a home away from home the second we walked through the door. Our hosts were fantastic and made us and our pups feel welcome the entire time we were there. The pool was a delight, and the view over Sandton was glorious. I can't recommend Alex & Gideon, or their cottage, highly enough.

Fantastic stay! The estate is really safe and the restaurant on site is amazing for great value. The apartment is lovely and has everything you need. Would definitely recommend.

Tsele makes everything easy from check in to check out. Very professional. Across the street from the Mall of Africa so anything you need is right there. I will definitely be back!

Tanya was warm and hospitable, and kindly allowed us to check in earlier even though the accommodation was still being prepared for us. Piping hot showers, comfortable beds and tea/coffee station with delicious rusks all helped make our stay great and I would definitely stay with Tanya and Niels again.
