Exceptional host communication

Recent guests gave June a 5-star rating for communication.
Ballylough is a heritage property set deep in farmland area, 1 mile from Bushmills, 10 minutes from Giant's Causeway, Distillery, Dunluce, Carrick-A-Rede, Portrush, Portstewart, Coleraine, Ballymoney, several beautiful beaches. Close to the Ulster way and no more than 40 minutes from nearly 250km of it, so a great base if walking from Belfast round towards Limavady. MacQuillan/Savage ruins on site along with short forest walks and walled gardens. 4 bedrooms, but can only list 2 on AirBNB.

The space
The property has been maintained keeping as many of the original features as feasibly possible. Rugs are over 100 years old - hand stitched. The antique furniture dates back to 1780s in many cases. Pictures and portraits are from 1600s through to the modern day. Cornicing and architectural gems. There are 9 steps to the main hall. The house is dated from about 1450 and morphed to a mainly georgian house with extensions around 1780 - 1810. The internet is a problem in the area as BT refuse to upgrade rural locations any time soon. It is suitable for emails. We do not have TVs in any of the rooms. We have many historical facts and stories about the area if guests are interested.

Neighborhood highlights

There are so many places to go and see in the area - guests regularly feel that one night here is not enough and three is about right. We are in the countryside - bring wellies or walk boots - although we can provide wellies for guests if need be.

During your stay

We meet and greet between 4 - 6pm providing tea /coffee and scones- it is important that this check in happens as we do not like signage littering the house, so we need to explain where things are and how to get the internet etc. If you are needing a later check in this must be arranged. It is important for you to let us know your estimated time of arrival, so we are on hand to meet you. We are living in the house and can be rung for at any time. Breakfast is between 8:30 - 9:30 and arranged during the check in incase it is needed later or earlier (the sunrise/set over Giant's Causeway and Dunluce can be amazing). When the weather is good and guests are really interested in the heritage and property we may occasionally offer to do a tour of the site - there is no charge for this, but it is not part of the B & B. It is part of our charity work supporting education wellbeing and heritage.
