Snuggle up by the wood-burning fireplace in this cosy 'cottage/chalet style' sanctuary nestled within a peaceful walled oasis, just a few minutes from Lancaster town centre. It's remarkably light and airy inside, thanks to white paneling and skylights. Help yourself to a nice glass of bubbles and take in the spectacular close up views of Lancaster Castle from the window seat, whilst you plan your days ahead. Draw a hot bath in a copper tub big enough for 2 (with Castle View's very own homemade lavender bubble bath) before climbing in to the exceptionally comfortable 'secret bedroom'. Quaint on the outside. Quirky on the inside. Inside Castle View, the secret bedroom and bathroom are a real surprise and simply luxurious! Everything is kitted out with your complete comfort in mind. A giant copper bath for 2 people, a king size natural mattress with 400 thread count Egyptian cotton bed linen, Smeg fridge/freezer and a giant 'Loaf' sofa to sink into in front of the wood burner. The flat screen TV can be positioned to watch from the living room, 'secret' bedroom or bathroom. Insulation and remote control blackout blinds throughout the property ensure a peaceful nights sleep. The property is detached from our home and has it's own parking space. We're around in person or by text to help in any way that we can - although we completely understand that many guests will want to keep themselves to themselves. :) Just a minutes walk from Lancaster Castle, 3 minutes walk from Lancaster train station and a 4 minute, breath taking walk to the shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, yet situated in a peaceful walled oasis in the heart of historic Lancaster Castle Conservation area. Whether you want a romantic retreat or a comfortable base to explore the North West - the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales & Manchester Airport are all about an hour away. Parking space a few strides from the cottage. Getting around could not be easier! The property has it's own parking space. The train station really is 2 minutes walk away from the property gates. Simply wheel your case straight up from the platform. No need for a taxi! By train, Manchester airport is a direct 1 hour 15 train journey away. Oxenholme (The Lake District) 12 mins. Delightful seaside towns such as Silverdale and Arnside 15/20 mins away. Yorkshire Dales 30 minutes. Morecambe 10 minutes. There are frequent direct trains to Edinburgh and London that take just under 2.5 hours. There are cycle tracks on our doorstep to picturesque riverside locations and seaside villages and towns. We are less than 10 minutes walk away to the bus station. Children aged 8 years and upwards are welcome. Feel free to bring your own dry logs and kindling - or buy a basket from us for £10. This year we are giving 10% of our turnover to LDHAS (Lancaster & District Homeless Action Service). So your stay at Castle View will help to support the less fortunate in our community.

The Aldcliffe Hut has been beautifully handmade with everything you need to enjoy your stay including a wood burning stove and a magical pull down bed. The Hut offers the best of all worlds: it borders a nature reserve, is just 0.7 miles from Lancaster station, is a 10 minute walk from the historic city centre, with its many cafés and museums and a stone's throw from the Lancaster Canal where you can amble along taking in the wildlife, boats and pubs. The Chicken Shed at Knowle Top was newly built in 2019 on the ruins of an old barn and decorated to the highest standards of industrial chic. Situated in a most unique location, high on the Ribble Valley side of Lancashire’s iconic Pendle Hill, it sits surrounded by sheep pastures where hare and fox come to say good-night. Despite this rural idyll, we’re only a five minute car drive from Clitheroe, one of the North-West’s nicest market towns. The views will take your breath away!

Lune Valley Lodge

Enjoy the lovely setting of this romantic spot in nature. Aughton is a scenic village situated on the banks of the lune valley leading up to the market Town on Kirby Lonsdale. Walks from the village allow you to saunter along the banks of the river lune or through the picturesque Burton and Lawson woods belonging to the woodlands trust often known as Aughton woods. Aughton also has an beautiful old village church going back to 1864 and a recreation hall and children's play area.

Nestled within the picturesque village of Beetham, Church View Cottage is a beautifully renovated former alehouse dated late 1700. The historic Cumbria village of Beetham stands at the northern edge of the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The cottage provides a unique holiday retreat on the outskirts of the stunning Lake District World Heritage Site, the Yorkshire Dales and also within easy reach of Leighton Moss and Foulshaw Moss Nature Reserves.

The Quarters step free, and level access ground floor apartment is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Explore the Lakes, Morecambe Bay, the Yorkshire Dales and the Trough of Bowland. An inclusive space, ideal for groups of friends, families, explorers, cyclists hikers etc. Our traditional village includes a good pub, (reserve your table in advance ) churches, a store, garage, doctors, pharmacy and a Take-away. The more days you stay the cheaper the daily rate.

Stay in a Castle

Guest flat in Hornby Castle, which is located in the picturesque Lune Valley, in the forest of Bowland and not far from the Lake District, sitting on a hill with dramatic views overlooking the Lune valley and Ingleborough. Relax, enjoy the local walks, including along the river in our garden. Hornby has a good village tea room & pub. Also a good village shop. Our TV is small and only runs off online apps. Remember it is an old house and can therefore be or feel cold.

The cottage is in the small village of Gressingham in the beautiful Lune valley and Forest of Bowland AONB. There is easy access to both the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales national parks. In addition the attractions of Kirkby Lonsdale, the historical city of Lancaster and RSPB reserve at Leighton Moss are only 15-20 minutes away. Gressingham is a small, picturesque village and makes the perfect location for walkers, cyclists and those wanting a country break.
