Monthly Rentals in Gergeri

The apartment is beautifully laid within a village in central Crete. It is a very calm surrounding, no noises which was refreshing for me. There aren't any huge supermarkets around in the vicinity but shops for the necessary bits within the village or the next village as well as cafes and diners. Definitely need to get a hire car to do any meaningful exploring. Christina was always very helpful and responded within hours. She is happy to provide any tips, etc. You get a little care package before check-in which is very handy and thoughtful. It should be noted that the house has thick wall which is a godsend to escape the summer heat. In Winter or early Spring there might be the chance that it is a bit cold inside but there are movable radiators in the household. I found that the lighting fixtures on the wall make for a particular cozy atmosphere in the tastefully furnished living quarters. I really enjoyed the stay in this apartment and would highly recommend.

The most meaningful stay during our Greece honeymoon. My husband and I enjoyed this beautiful place located in a small village. Choosing to stay in smaller villages compared to the main cities really pays off! You get to see the traditional houses and experience the slow pace of the islands. This house reminded me of my grandfather’s home which made me feel very sentimental. The home is beautifully renovated with personal touches and antique decor. You have everything you need plus extra blankets, towels and more. We were greeted personally by Georgia, her baby and her mom- who made us lemon cakes which was very generous. And also some wine and chocolate from Georgia. To say that she was generous was an understatement! Georgia is an amazing host and always greets us as if she were a friend! She’s very proactive and has lots of recommendations which made decision making a little easier (my husband and I were struggling making decisions on where to go so this was a massive help!).

We were gifted with a wealth of goodies to enjoy… jams, olive oil, raki, wine, olives, all home made AND when the unusual heatwave struck, Mihail installed air conditioned from one day to the next!! we enjoyed it and I’m sure this is a great addition to comfort at beautiful Villa Strata for future guests. Our long-term stay in Gergeri facilitated our exploration of the Island from the geographical center, a 35 minutes drive to the nearest beach on the south, 45 minutes to Heraklion on the north and many beautiful and surprising places around. We were confortable and strategically located. This is a cultural-immersive-exploration kind of place for travellers interested in going beyond the “walk-to-the-beach-every-day” experience.

The little village of Plouti is an amazing and unique location. I wish we could have stayed longer. There was a plumbing issue during our stay, but Aris was responsive and did what he could to get it sorted out. There is the added bonus for cat lovers, many friendly cats can be found in the neighborhood.
